Due to the delay of their actual damage, both Dragon’s Tooth and Shatterstone need to be instant casts (also goes with the theme of Air Attunement #2 and #3), but that’s just the tip of the iceberg on what needs to be buffed concerning Elementalist scepter skills. Flame Strike, Ice Shards, and Stone Shards all need to be brought down to 1/2 of a second, and Arc Lightning needs to be brought down to 2 seconds. Rock Barrier should also be 1/4 of a second.
Don’t even get me started on the other weapons’ skills…
I think healing shout greatsword warriors will benefit the most from zealot. A decent armor and health is already given so they don’t need vitality or toughness. vigorous shouts scales decently (0.9) and the precision combined with boon duration allows for big might stacks.
…And we have a winner!
Can you be more specific?
Signet of the Ether
1s cast / 25s recharge
Passive: Gain Health every second, based on the number of active illusions you control.
Active: Heal yourself and refresh all phantasm skill recharges.
Healing: 5,000 (0.1)
Passive Heal—1 Illusion: 125 (0.0025)
Passive Heal—2 Illusions: 250 (0.005)
Passive Heal—3 Illusions: 500 (0.01)
I propose the above. It’s hard enough to maintain illusions as it is (let alone three of them) in most situations. 5K healing @ 20s recharge (traited) on the active is still less than Ether Feast but more than Mirror (since it also has a longer recharge than Mirror).
Even with the above changes, due to its situational maintenance-required passive and still humble active, this skill wouldn’t be decidedly superior to the Mesmer’s other options, but it would become strong enough to use generally and outside of its current pigeonholed application. That said, I don’t agree with the passive working without having any illusions up; this isn’t Healing Signet.

You can avoid dealing with this issue by building around it, though. I’m not saying it doesn’t suck – it definitely does, since it makes the Focus bad – but it does have some work arounds. I consider things to be game breaking when they are inevitable, so you’ll forgive me if I disagree.
You can avoid the Death Shroud issue by not using Death Shroud; Mesmers using Phantasm builds don’t really use Shatter skills.
Your argument works both ways: “X is broken, so don’t use it.”
some of them gamebreaking, like iwarden
That’s hardly game breaking.
Sorry, but your trivialization of something factually anything but trivial does not make it so herein reality. No – herein reality, iWarden is a phantasm, and as a phantasm, it exists as the big-hitter on any Mesmer weapon-set using a focus (as per the design of Mesmer weapon-skills). iWarden not attacking is very game-breaking for a Mesmer.
I would slot Mist Form back on my bar in a heartbeat if I could use my 6789 while in it again. Currently, I only ever slot it for specific circumstances and then quickly get it the kitten off my bar thereafter.
All I want is Blurred Frenzy back on a 10-second cooldown. It’s utterly appalling that this skill received a cooldown nerf on top of being nerfed into an evasion (effectively a double over-the-top nerf)… I mean Thieves already have the highest evasion up-time spamming Pistol Whip.
The only thing a D/D or S/D ele needs is now is for RTL’s cooldown to be reduced.
Eh… Dragon’s Tooth and Shatterstone also need to be instant casts on top of the Earth, Fire, and Water Attunement auto-attacks for scepter being reduced to 1/2.
i’d think this would be an easy change, no more than 5 minutes of work. any dev want to correct me or give me a reason why they are soulbound?
Because ArenaNet didn’t write the code for Guild Wars 2; they paid for it. Any and all changes made to the game therefore consist of nothing but complete and utter headaches for them.
Using the CoF Jacket + Anonymity Hood (Midnight Fire dye), and a murderous grin.
Kirito…?!
Cute. Here’s a slow clap for a slow thinker.
The point is I love the Elementalist and know it inside and out.
I am unworthy, O Master of the Elements! Surely, you must be the Avatar!

It took us an hour, but we got it done!

All I needed was to look at your attachment to see that you, Sir, are a kitten WIZARD, and you probably have vastly many more leather bound books than I shall ever acquire within my own humble lifetime.
Warriors DO, in fact, have a weakness! I once rolled my face over the keyboard instead of using my fingers to play, and I ALMOST lost a match because of it!
Basically, if an individual decides to apply his face to the keyboard in a rolling fashion rather than his or her fingers in a typing manner, there does exist somewhat of a chance that he or she will lose.
It wouldn’t be so bad if we could at least throw four of them into the Mystic Toilet for a random roll at possibly getting one we actually want, but even that’s out the window.
Here’s one neat trick with splitters:
Char A has [infused] back item like say Endless Quiver that you want to pass it on to char B
Step 1 Transmute crystal so quiver gets stats of an account bound back item (ex: fervid censer / sclerite / toymaker bag)
Step 2 Result will be a quiver looking account bound with low stats, put it in bank.
Step 3 Log on B, retrieve it from bank
Step 4 Use trans splitter you get the acc bound back item back AND you can enjoy your infused Endless quiver on BDoes that work with rings/accessories? Anyone tried it?
Can anyone confirm how to do this w/ rings/accessories?
Congrats kyubi, you are the first person that I have come to truly hate on these forums. You represent everything I loathe in the human race. Your posts are never constructive, all you are trying to do is to shape the game in your image without a single spec of regard for other players.
Where’s the kitten Like Button when you need to click it?
But that would give good players actual incentive to use Greatsword!
This road never looked so lonely.
This house doesn’t burn down slowly…
to ashes… to ashes.
I have no idea what’s even happening on my screen… How is it even possible in this day and age to record a video at such a miniscule resolution? Seriously, this video takes up about a third of my screen, and it’s one big blur if I go into full-screen.
No. Hambow does not ‘excel’ in PvE. Axe/GS excels, hammer should be left in your PvP slot(s).
I already cited my reasons as to why it works, so I’m just gonna respond to your blanket statement with another blanket statement:
I’m right and you’re wrong.
Not very nice to be on the receiving end of such, is it?
Hambow is the most PvX build in existence for Warrior. It excels in high end PvE (w/ good cleaving, a fire field, 2 blast finishers, and 2 AoE CC skills) while primarily being a PvP/WvW build.
They still haven’t fixed the Improvisation trait? FFS!
If you get Time Warp as a Glamour skill, I want Mass Invisibility as a Manipulation skill.
Cat stands for osicat’s builds not shatter builds in general.
What he said.
16,000 Health
3,000 Attack
2,600 Defense
70% Critical Damage
51% Critical Chance
The problem is that it’s complete and utter garbage without traits, which isn’t the case for any other heal in this game as far as I’m aware.
How does this sound?
Litany of Wrath (1-second cast/30-second recharge)
Meditation. Heal yourself. For a brief time, heal yourself based on a percentage of damage dealt to enemies.
Healing 3,000 (0.1 gain from Healing Power)
Litany of Wrath (3 seconds) 50% of damage dealt is returned to you as healing.
Being able to move during the cast of Mind Stab and increasing its God-awful radius would be nice…
I prefer Sword/Focus and Staff for dungeons (only switching Sword/Focus for Greatsword for specific situations). Stacking triples of Illusionary Warlock seems to be the best way to DPS a boss on a Mesmer, and Phase Retreat trivializes a lot of boss attacks.
Confusion is gone after this patch. Complete garbage now. It ruined my only build that I enjoyed on my mesmer. My mesmer is now retired. They nerfed something that wasn’t even op or used much. GG Anet. Thanks for forcing me off my mesmer. Useless for my play style now.
Did I miss something?
Has anyone else noticed the decrease to the number of bounces to winds of chaos on a staff Mesmer or am i patch too late?
Wait… WHAT?
Another update and still no fix…
Did this ever get fixed?
Pink? I could’ve sworn they’ve been purple since the beta…
@Darksteel.8412
Way to revive a dead thread…
I keep a secondary set of armor that is a mix of Shaman/Apothecary. I use it for Mantra/Support build experiments, and occasionally Glamour.
I might have to do the same after they update mantras… We’ll see!
what mesmer is running healing power anyway? go zerker or go home
Defensive Infusion Slots in my Beserker’s Ascended Trinkets, Smart One. Ascended Trinkets are “unique” and I can’t roll two of the same type (ring/accessory) with the same type of Infusion Slot, they all can’t have Offensive Infusion Slots to begin with.
I really hope ArenaNet sees this and fixes it. It can’t be that difficult to add scaling with Healing Power to the bonus heal seeing as how skills already scale as intended with it…
A friend of mine actually pointed it out to me, so I now know what the problem is:
(5560 + 1[15]) + (3*640) = 7595
In short, Ether Feast is BUGGED as the bonus heal DOESN’T SCALE with Healing Power despite the tool-tip indicating that it gains 10% rounded up or more (the tool-tip states "642" at 15 Healing Power).
Now if this could get some notice by ArenaNet and hopefully fixed...
(edited by Velimere.7685)
I already ran the calculation you presented (the latter of the two in my original post), and I already noted that it’d be 7499 rounded down and 7500 rounded up (GW2 doesn’t allow damage or healing in fractions).
Once again however, after actually checking how much I’m getting healed for, the exact number is 7495.
(edited by Velimere.7685)
Am I missing something here? At 15 Healing Power with 3 illusions up, I’m getting healed for 7495 (I did it while guesting on a different server to ensure I wasn’t receiving WvW bonuses). According to GW2W, Ether Feast’s main heal sees 100% of the Mesmer’s Healing Power added to it, and its bonus heal sees 10% of the Mesmer’s Healing Power added to it.
Calculating at "(5560+1[15]) + (640 + 0.1[15]) + (640 + 0.1[15]) + (640 + 0.1[15])"...
...Rounded down (I believe ArenaNet rounded down a lot of stuff from 5 as opposed to 4 in GW1), the total amount of healing should be 7498 whereas it should be 7501 rounded up (neither of which are 7495).
Calculating at "(5560+1[15]) + 3(640 + 0.1[15])"...
...Rounded down, the total amount of healing should be 7499 whereas it should be 7500 rounded up (again, neither of which are 7495).
What am I missing here?
Shatter is still fine, bf.. getting hit by ret.. is fair.. but I dont feel an nerf to be honest!
The problem is that ArenaNet’s stance is nerf over balance: Changing BF from invulnerability to evasion would have been a (barely) acceptable balance (I would’ve liked 3 seconds of stability to go with it; that way condition damage still gets through while BF doesn’t get interrupted) had they not also increased the cool-down time.
Get some new combos.. dont be predictable with your shatters..
Right… Go ahead and show us some of these “new” combos.
Anything worth doing is already being down. The original Guild Wars has hundreds of skills to go through; here, you have predetermined weapon skills and a handful of heal/utility/elite skills to choose from. It isn’t rocket science.
(edited by Velimere.7685)
I made this exact face!
You, Sir, are a gentleman and a scholar.
I would be okay with the evasion change if they didn’t also increase the cooldown. Seriously.
Not just the Mesmer’s Blink utility-skill… Guardian and Thief have teleporting utility-skills that break stun as well.
10/30/0/0/30
Beserker
This has been my build since before the nerf (S/P & SB). All I had to do was change Thrill of the Crime to Bountiful Thief and Hastened Replenishment to Sleight of Hand. My Mesmer and Elementalist got totally kitten d by this update, however…
So now that the nerf is confirmed and ArenaNet is going back on all cantrips being stun-breakers, I’d like to propose that they give Lighting Flash back its stun-breaking property and instead remove said property from Mist Form. If you think about it, Mist Form outlasts any stun anyway, so if you pop it while stunned, you won’t be stunned anymore after it ends, so it doesn’t take as much away from the skill as it does Lighting Flash.
Lighting Flash doesn’t deserve to be nerfed into the ground as the only teleporting utility-skill in the game that doesn’t break stun!
