Guys, its sad to say, but this condi meta is here to stay. Players are being rewarded for passive play in which all they do is spam all their condi skills and watch other players melt. As of now in SPvP 80% of all specs (that i have encountered this previous week of gameplay – it was actually 76.795 but i rounded up) that ive encountered were condition based because it they require little to no talent/skill to play well to get amazing results. On top of all that A-Net has now decided to nerf (even though its a small nerf) power based specs – the only specs in the game that require a skill cap to play well. Guys, in all honesty, what do you feel of this current meta? I personally feel that conditions need to be reduced before this game loses a large majority of its player base due to frustration.
(examples of this ridiculous meta are spirit rangers, PU mesmers, terrormancers, condi engi’s, condi warrior’s and ETC)

yes, unfortunately the condi meta has been a constant for several months.
many dedicated pvp players have left and pvp atm is filled with pve players doing dailys for AP… Devs seam to be very happy with this and proudly say that the pvp community is, growing (they ate actually AP farmers, not pvp players) but yeah… That’s what we have.
I log in for a few days after “(un)balance patches”. Then I go back to play REAL pvp games.
The fact that Thieves were completely ignored on the “ready up” doesn’t bother anyone else?!
Didn’t surprise me that they talked allot about warrior since they all main warriors (except Josh) and they clearly said it out loud in the stream but bypassing the thief profession like that shows the respect they have for the thief community. Not that we don’t already know how they feel about thieves but acting like that in a live stream is unprofessional and offensive.
Why did the Devs go into allot of the changes coming to all professions except thieves?!
less than 2 min was the time spent talking about thieves and only 1 change was reveled and its an insignificant one…

Were you playing with Powerr? We won our first match-up in the 2v2 tournament last weekend with him playing D/D ele. He’s a great player.
As for elementalists, we’re not scared to talk about them, we just haven’t talked about any profession really (in regards to the next update). There are a bunch of changes coming down the pike for the entire game in general. I mentioned on the ele forums before the holidays that we think the main problem with elementalist is sustain – and that’s what we’re focusing on addressing. I mentioned on the ESL livestream today that our first step towards rectifying this is making Signet of Restoration function the same in PvP as it does in PvE.
err…. what does Signet of Restoration has to do with sustain?!

Sounds like withdraw + 30 in shadowarts to me. High stealthing with shadow rejuvenation?
Does not make much sence since with 30 in SA you need to be close to your enemy in orderto keep using C&D, why would a thief go for Withdraw as a healing skill when HiS stealthes, heals and heals even more with Shadow’s Rejuvenation…
Also a thief that goes deep into SA or Acro will never have insane dmg…
The biggest problem is IMO is actually the active heal. If we reduce the passive without doing something to make the active useful, we are just creating a different problem. Truly the active on this skill right now is in the following place. When I see someone press it I think “No No No don’t do that!” We are discussion some options here so if you want this to be constructive give suggestions towards improving the active. Reducing the passive is easy to do but we will not do it without solving the other problem. Also we will not greatly reduce it because it is giving Warriors a sense of sturdiness that we want their profession to have. Without strong heals, Warriors feel too much like everyone else. Setting them apart with strong heals has been good for changing their playstyle feel, but we agree it needs some tweaks.

A Thief can’t bunker, especially not if the build relies on Stealth.
Currently the two popular specs for competitive play are a 10/30/0/30/0 Sword + Dagger build that many evolves around constant evades and pressure from Larcenous Strike.
And 10/30/0/0/30 Dagger + Pistol which is a very offensive high-pressure build focused on burst and interrupts and mitigating via Black Powder.
For starters I’d say the S/D build is more forgiving as it gives you more time to adapt. D/P ist very “balls to the wall” and only truly effective if you know your role and place.

I also like the 0/30/30/10/0 spec with D/D + DB just because I really like playing D/D and honestly I’m good at it. Thing is, the burst is not that impressive and although I end the fights with full (or almost full) HP, it takes some time to get the kill.
BUT the specs DJ just mentioned are the ones to take to tPvP.

will you ever do something like the Gurus SOTG were players and devs sit down and talk? this unilateral streams that you do now… they feel scripted, looks like you guys get a script to memorize then drop it all on live stream, seriously, some times it looks like they forgot their line and are trying to remember it wile some one behind the camera is helping them with hints

I will not spend another cent in this game until PvP is enjoyable. If an expansion comes out before that happens, I will continue playing the games i’m playing right now except Gw2.

Most ppl hate this map because certain profession have a huge advantage over the others.
profession like necro, guardian, engi, mesmer have the possibility to dispatch of MULTIPLE enemies with little effort. Although I believe that for them that might be really fun, to every one else is simply frustrating.
also the cannon deals way to much dmg. Professions with a low base hp pool get 1 shoted by it.
overall the map looks good but is very frustrating.

5. Death Penalty for corrupted politicians.

last night i tried 10/30/0/0/30 S/P + SB with zerker amulet and lyssa runes, was successful with it to some degree but had lots of trouble with heavy condi build professions…

If you sacrifice acrobatics you lose HP, extra dodges not to mention the traits that you may take. SH you sacrifice more stealth time, condition removal, might on stealth, blind on stealth and so on.
Is it really worth it? how do you deal with condi necros that constantly transform your boons in conditions?
I’m not saying its bad, far from it I’m just trying to understand why is it so much better that acro and SA and what changed on Dec. 10th patch to make it viable compared to pre patch.
I still don’t see the need to spend 30 in trickery… I’ll give it a try when i get home but…
SA will give us access to condi remove on stealth and i don’t feel very comfortable with allot of boons since Necros are part of every team and Corrupt Boons will counter Trickery and Lyssa runes easily.
I took a brake after the Dec. 10th patch and came back yesterday.
Went immediately into sPvP and 1v1 arenas.
I noticed that most high ranked thieves are going 30 points into Trickery wile using S/D, S/P and even D/P…
I miss to see were this trait-line would be helpful for such weapon sets… what am I missing here?
Why place 30 points in trickery instead of Shadow Arts or Acrobatics or even Critical arts?
After being away from the game for about 4 weeks, I logged in for some pvp and had a very high latency and spikes that would freeze the game for 3+ seconds, on mop chat ppl were complaining about the same issue.
Is this new or has it been like that for a wile? Is it a known issue or just a new one?
Attrition yes, but not using Soldiers I run with Berserker and 5 Scholar and 1 Divinity For higher crits, I maintain a constant 5+ stacks of might and can survive a lot due to stealth healing and blinds.
It is a roamer build to get in, take the kill for my team or res a team mate with SR then move on to help another point or decap far point if my team mates have the fight under control.
S/P thief is not as good as ppl make it. I play thief and have no problem dealing with them. S/P thief is easier to kill than D/P imo.

Warriors are not op but need a small adjustment to Berserker Stance and Healing Signet IMO.

You said that thieves are very powerful = having 1 viable competitive spec and 1 semi viable competitive spec is enough for thieves.
Thieves are mean and don’t deserve a spot in any competitive scenario so yeah, since they are already wounded , why not just put them out of their misery?! Devs are doing a very good job at it anyway.

I’m taking a brake atm. I cant play Gw2 for very long, I play to have fun and Gw2 only gets me frustrated. So I play Gw2 for a week or two then go back to SWTOR or DOTA2 and a couple of Betas I’m playing right now.
I agree that Gw2 use to be better that it is now and with every patch it only gets worse. In time ill probably stop playing it at all just like you.

Tbh Warriors and every ware… I play TPvP with my team and 8 out of 10 matches the enemy team has 2-3 warriors… We have fought a team that had 4 Warriors and 1 engi…
They star out with a “balanced” team, then log out and dome back with they’re warriors…
My team is normally Thief, Guardian, Ranger, Warrior, Mesmer. But as is Warriors and bunkering and obliterating every thing in their path… I hope A-net is watching this…
A Warrior by himself, I thing they are good but not OP but if you put 2-3 together… it’s carnage. High HP pool, Tank, High DPS and Infinite CC.
