humm sure! I do agree with you but… how can we show that we actually don’t like GW2 PvP?
I mean the combat system is the best I have ever seen but that by itself doesn’t make a great PvP experience when balance is awful, one single game mode and incentives /rewards are non existent.
there is no sub so i can’t just unsub to show my disappointment… I stoped spending money buying gems (although I’m a pure PvP player and dont PvE at all i DID buy gems to contribute to support the game) and what other way do I have?

shadow trap could be a good skill if only players could trigger it.
If a clone triggers the trap and then explode you wasted your skill.it should also be ground target range 1200
agreed, not only it needs a visible announcement that it has been triggered, more time to use it after it has been triggers but also NOT trigger on AI (pets, clones, phantoms, rock dog).
also the ambush trap thief should have a bigger hp pool, he only lasts 15 seconds and most of the time he dies 5 sec after he spawns….
after it is triggered the thief only has about 10sec to use it before it wares off and into CD. some times i don’t even notice it was triggered…

Give us some kind of Hutball (from SWOTR). It was by far the most fun and entertaining sandbox pvp i have ever had in any game.
The “sport” is awesome, only with teamwork will you score, and the map design is simply perfect!

Regarding the Thief profession, at first it made me mad that yet another nerf is on the way (what’s new, right?) but after i thought about it, its not that bad, remember when the skill missed 90% of the time? well now at least it lands so… by keeping the same dps and still being able to steal 1 boon is a very good skill! i know we are use to it stealing 2 boons but… kitten it is still a very good skill.
What i feel it is needed at the moment is making other weapon sets better, i still see a few ppl running with P/D and D/D but in a competitive environment, non of this weapon sets are good, tbh, besides S/D there is no other weapon set that can keep a thief alive long enough to kill its enemy.
Stealth use to be very good but not anymore 4sec reveled is to much to relie on for survivability atm only Acrobatics provide such survivability.
I feel thieves are cornered… they cant go full GC because they will not live long enough to kill there enemy unless they are also GC. IMO the GC speced player’s “defense” (regardless of the profession) is killing before getting killed, at the moment that is impossible for all professions, anyone can outlast a GC.
The thief that specs for control (full shadow arts with D/P or D/D) is not viable either because of the 4sec reveled, without acrobatics he cant live very long and if you go shadow arts + acrobatics the dps will be so low that will allow the enemy to “control” the fight and survive long enough to use its healing ability time after time.
TL;DR:
I’m ok with the nerf to the S/D weapon set and the buff to ranger pets, but I do believe that the other weapon sets (all of them) should also be looked at and improved. Obviously including the Short Bow.

I gave up on thief, although it is my favorite profession and it still makes me crazy to see this constant nerf after nerf after nerf and other professions keep getting better and better. I hope they totally brake it in the next patch and make it completely useless.
ONLY THEN, (after 2-3 month ofc) thieves might get a BUFF!!! can you believe that?! if thieves don’t have 1 single semi-decent weapon set they will have to do something about it… i guess…
Wile LS removed 2 boons ppl spammed it, now that it will only remove 1… thieves will ONLY press that button so expect allot more whining in the forums about spammers. But it is A-net’s fault for incentivating it.

speed is terrible especially in wvw. why on earth do i have to equip weak runes that dont support my build at all just so i can actually keep up in wvw? all u see in wvw is hammerwarriors and guardians and giant necro trains.
mesmers are the least played class next to the nearly none represented rangers in wvw. i love my class and it used to be fun, but this balance for wvw is simply not fun anymre. i die too quick and have noting to bring to the table in wvw appart from stupid support kitten. i hate playing support only. but anet wants us to be weak so his fav necro/warriors can take over the world. very very dissapointed in anet favoring classes and conveniently overlook op kitten in wvw. i hate being a 1v1 class only. id rather have anet destroy the whole spvp mesmer, so we can at least get something in wvw.

But in WvW I hear mesmers are quite useful, especially as roamers. I don’t know myself as I’ve not taken mine out of PvE and RP.
well roaming and actual zvz is a big difference. if u are in a higher tier u will run into quite a lot of large zergs, and there mesmer melts.
u cant run an spvp build unless u are in a giant zerg where all u can do is spam 1. if u are a smaller group though and meet a medium zerg well there is a huge gap between war/necro.guardian and mes/ranger. commanders want us only for veil/nullfield/portal and timewarp. we are not the dmg class at all, we get used for support and thats boring and not what i signed up for at all. so, sry but i refuse to use that stupid support utility from now on. a warrior can just melt through an entire zerg/deal massive dmg/massive cc and gets massive heals and is tanky. if i wanna deal dmg like a war i have no defense/no toughness/ massive cooldowns and bad condition cleansing and stability.
roaming shouldnt be the only ting we can do next to stupid support.
what do thieves bring to zvz? Why would any commander want thieves? All they can do is blast fields, nothing more, is a zerg, even is any given profession only have 1 blasting ability, is more than enough, thieves are no good in gvg nor zvz… But the nerf hammer keeps hitting them like there is no tomorrow…
Concerned about Larcenous nerf though – halving to a single boon strip is not a slight change, and an incidental buff to bunker builds.
not to mention it will incentive spam. Since to be effective versus heavy boon professions you will need to double your boon stripping LC.
I dislike stealth, but this is the wrong way to go.
I can’t think of any skill that explicitly destroys one of a class’s main mechanics.
Kind of the same issue I had with the gauntlet, and several bosses preventing me from using stealth for the entire match.If stealth needs to be explicitly disabled from time to time, It’s probably time to take a look at why, not patching it up with a bandaid that will frustrate every thief in existence when they fight rangers.
A. Stealth is not a Thiefs Main Mechanic, Your mechanic is actually Steal….You saying Stealth is your main mechanic is like a Mesmer saying its his main mechanic, You can Stealth, and you’re better then everyone else, But that’s not your mechanic.

steal is the thieves mechanic?!… Steal is an ability, initiative and no CD’s is a mechanic.
stealth has been constantly nerfed and is so bad everyone is playing evasive now days. Nerfing it even more sounds like a great idea!
Yeah but venoms cant be buffed as long as VA trait exists or it ll become OP.
then replace the trait with something else and make 3 utilities and 1 elite worth sloting.
as is, no one uses venoms thus making venomous aura useless as well.
Venomous Aura is fine as is, it’s the VENOMS that suck really bad.

Balance in general is crap! I agree also it is very clear the they prioritize pve over pvp players just look at all the pve patches constantly coming out wile pvp paches come once every 2-3 months…
Thing is, although e-sports,will never happen since there are close to no pvp players left, anet is trying to revive this aspect of the game (unsuccessfully imo). By insisting in this “dream” they heart the more healthy part of the game.
As a pure pvp player, I don’t care much about what they do to pve but I can imagine your frustration.
Can you imagine mine?… Trying to play competitively in a highly unbalanced game, waiting for hours for a tournament to pop, hot joining for a pvp fix and seeing that there are 6-10 active pvp rooms wile the other 200+ are empty….
To those that say that this is the first counter play to stealth, let me tell you that there always was counter play to stealth, only noobs don’t know it!

so yeah… Good thing they are adding the first way to counter stealth in game after 1year.

What i think is bad for the game and avoidable is that balance is done 80% of the time with spvp in mind, when it’s the least played and the balance of pve or wvw is way way worst.
There is little to no evidence of this really. When you think about it logically almost anything that is a problem in spvp is a problem at the very least in WvWvW because of things like ludicrous buff durations and super inflated stats that exist in WvWvW.

I know a lot of pver’s that were shocked by a lot of patches, why the hell they do that to the warrior!!, well, it’s easy, because warrior is bad in spvp and since they balance around spvp, it doesn’t matter how good or overplayed is in pve. WvW has slightly better balance, but there is some really funny things, like runes that apply confusion for every interrupt without internal cooldown, tried them with an engi with lots of cc, i wouldn’t call them balancedbut it was a fun experience (for me, for my enemies not so much) . And the mass warrior hammer meta is hilarious too.
Since spvp it’s, well, a bit of a failure, i don’t think it would be bad to start balancing around pve or wvw.
one of the main reasons spvp is the least played aspect of the game is the terrible balance, if they don’t balance it, not only no player will be attracted to it but the few that still play it will also quit and play something else.
not balancing the game around spvp would be delivering the final blow to spvp and “esports”.
Well… Apparently every one is getting buffs, even form professions.
on the other hand, thieves got nerfed (yet again) directly and indirectly due to ranger pet buff.
the only “buff” thieves might get is to the venomous aura aoe… Venomous aura is an awesome trait that no one will take since venoms are terrible, not to mention now with the condi nerfs… Not to mention the ridiculous amount of passive cleansing out there…

PvP is not currently designed to have extensible content. There are maps, which we do make. There are runes and sigils, but there are already an overabundance of them. Finally there are skins, which are added usually with every other update, but how you obtain those skins stem from PvE.
There are no features we can just ‘throw people at’ to give you guys more content. We need more infrastructure and more extensible systems, but those are the hardest to design and take the most time to implement. An example would be a completely reworked reward system. Those are the things we’re working on. It’s taking a lot of time and hard work to get there, but the payoff will be worth it.

only a very small percentage of thieves are actually good, the majority are button spammers, there is nothing easyer to counter than a button spammer. If you can’t do it, I feel sorry for you.

you are a bit shortsighted mate. S/D thieves are op IF you are a noob but anyway… Thieves are being forced to play S/D because all other weapon sets have been previously nerfed to the ground, thieves have no choice.
in 3 weeks time the S/D weapon set WILL be nerfed! It is official. After that patch thieves will be nice little loot bags walking around wvwvw and free glory in spvp. There will be no weapon set left for them to play.

I do want to say again that while I’ve been very harsh with my opinion here, I do still appreciate you taking the time to read and respond to the thread as a whole. I might not be happy with the current state of PvP, but I’m not just here to bash the game – I’d like to see it reach a better place, and hopefully soon.

SoloQ is not as bad as ppl claim… It’s just lacking players… If we had more players there would not be any problems with it.
ppl on top of the leaderboards get matched with ppl on the bottom of it because if they don’t, they will stay in queue for hours. The system is matching theme up because there is no one else on there “level” to match them with…
That’s a possibility, though this bug has proved tricky to fix, as it seems to only occur on the live servers.
Sorry to ask but, shouldn’t you have a replica of the live servers to play with internally?
We know you have other versions, modified to test stuff but if you are fixing the one we are playing shouldn’t you be working on that server? Implementing changes and fixes that you tested out on a different versions from the client we play wont cause more problems?
they can do it but they will not do it due to ppl crying about stealth. what they might do is implement the same 4sec in WvWvW so that it feels more natural, not the other way around.

- join a duel game.. everyone’s just standing around akitteng-log off
- check back in 5 hours
- repeat process
- don’t bother for a few daysThe LFG tool is coming next week. That should make forming teams for tournaments easier. You’ll even be able to merge a 3 player group with a 2 player group.
You can still solo queue for teams right now. There’s probably a group of 4 out there somewhere that would appreciate it. I think when the LFG tool arrives, you’ll have to have a full party to queue, but you don’t at the moment.
I’m not sure the the LFG tool is for PvE only, you queue to the instance you wanna do and when there is enough ppl the grp is formed and off you go.
the LFG will not be available in PvP I believe.
I played D/D condi thief for a wile and it was effective for a time but now it isnt.
every one goes around with condi removing abilities/traits and other procs. I had to switch to D/P at the time. Now im playing S/D but i guess ill have to change again since the nerf hammer is already on the way down…
E-sports they say… With 3 pvp devs?!… Lets face it, sPvP is gone! On a saturday at prime tine in EU soloQ tournaments take forever to pop. No one is playing sPvP atm…

I can tell you how we don’t get more players: Nerfs and balance patches every couple weeks!
Balance is fine, leave it alone and concentrate on designing different maps with different goals instead of just throwing people on a single point and having a spamfest!

Imo there are few players playing tournaments atm that if they don’t match the few ppl queuing with each other and wait for more ppl on the same “level” queues will never pop.
sPvP is so good atm that even top teams are “taking a break” or even quitting the game…

This was just a baby patch, but still in the right direction. Better than nerfing everything all at once and causing a HUGE shift in the meta again. This way they can introduce at least part of it and see how it goes.
sure but…. we are playing in the worse meta ever seen in this game (including beta) i believe a “HUGE shift in the meta” was required.

Wile the game was close to balance they introduced a big balance patch that F-U-B-A-R the meta and the pvp experience for all of us….
If we were close to balance WHY NOT take the baby steps THEN?! Not now that the game is horrible PvP wise, the competitive play is almost gone there are very few teams still competing forcing them to split up to play soloQ since teamQ dos not pop due to lack of teams. More and more ppl quit every day, so yeah… and “HUGE shift in the meta again” for the BETTER (unlike the last one) was actually a good thing.
