Why would you even go underwater? You currently play the weakes underwater profession in this game, why go under water?!

you get teleported to the pet/clone that triggered the trap if this pet/clone dies or get shattered your trap enters a 45sec cd.
Not to mention that the ONLY way to know if the trap was or not triggered is by not taking your eyes of the icon! there is not a single kind of warning (sound / flash / popup) to let you know that it was triggered.
Basically when we were a few tweaks away from a “decent balanced meta” then A-net comes over and kittens (with a capital F) things up so bad that we are now back to the point where we have 3 dominant professions and cattle to do be butchered! HF
this trap can be triggered by pets/clones making it completely useless in sPvP
not that it was any better before though
I have stopped playing for some time now and come to this forums once a week to see how thing are. Waiting for the game to get better to come back to it.
Patch notes like these (not just the thief but all professions) makes me want to shift+del the game…
makes me sad to see that players like the OP make this profession look bad…
Retaliation has its own dmg color on your screen, after using the first unload and seen that retaliation is up, WHY would you unload 2 more times on a row!?
Makes me sad… very sad.
Just wen I though that balance was just a couple of patches away, they diside to mess every thing up again…
When i stoped playing I though I would have comeback to the game at by now but actually I don’t think this will happen this year…
All the effort is on creating new and awesome town clothing hears and shinny backpacks!

no nerf on the notes but there ARE nerfs!! just not on the notes.
some of our shortbow #5 locations have been removed making us less mobile. its very noticeable in SW but in other maps as well…

Shortbow is a must have for every thief that needs mobility, A-net has stated they want to increase thieves mobility with other weapons so that thieves can actually have another weapon set to swamp to instead of the usual “main” weapon set + SB for mobility.
So that being said, A-net has just removed allot of our mobility in sPvP by nullifying some of our shadowstep locations. it is most noticeable on SW but in other maps as well.
So instead of giving us mobility like they said they would they are actually REMOVING it from us and not even mentioning it in the notes to avoid flaming.

I hope Anet is watching these arenas, they are awesome! I found myself spending allot of time in the /map chatting with ppl about builds traits how to counter this or that, engaging in awesome duels with all professions.
Its also good to see the potential of each profession in capable hands.
For example Rangers and Mesmers mostly dominate these arenas.
Just one suggestion, these arenas (1v1) have 20 slots, meaning there can be 18 ppl watching, the names of these players do not fit in the UI, it would be nice to have them divided in two lines instead of just one.
Imo the problem here is NOT the thief community, we get along just fine and if you search a bit you will find that every question has been answered and help has been given.
The problem is the NON thieves that come here to cry out for nerfs and insulting us for outplaying them. Obviously we will reply in the same manner as we were spoken to.
It’s not that I don’t like it, it’s just that I’d is the only sPvP mode available to all maps and a bit a variety would be healthy for the game.
Lately I have been spensing more time in semi empty maps dueling with other players than actually competing in full team maps nor tournaments…
I kind of like this one but for guys like me that don’t have a super computer and maps take they’re time to load, when i finally get into the map all the spots have already been field…
Imo ppl that were in a team should have priority over the ones that were previously spectating… unfortunately it happens do me quite allot…
They can run twice as fast as player as long as they don’t chase around the world…
The pet should get back to its owner if it gets to far from him, 1600-1800 maybe!?

Bunker ranges are a nightmare to take down, is it fair that after all the work to down them, we can’t get them stomped and whatch them get back up and at 80-90% HP resetting the fight?
Last night I killed a ranger!
I downed him the first time after a long fight and went for the stop but he interrupted me and healed himself up against and almost to 100%… After again another long fight I downed him again BUT in the water… His pet again healed him to live again. Yes I did try to kill the pet but he just healed his owner too fast and he fled….
Finely I managed to downed him again a few minutes later (new encounter) and managed to stop him on the second try right when he was about to res himself again…

From what I’ve gathered/read, and sometimes experienced, for runes:
6/6 Scholar – highest damage above 90% HP
5 Scholar + 1 Ruby – Highest damage under 90%
6/6 Ruby Orbs – Next highest damage
6/6 Thief – Similar damage to Rubies when hitting from behind and higher precision
6/6 Eagle – Slightly lower damage than Rubies, very high precision
6/6 Beryl Orbs – Good alternative for Hidden Killer builds
6/6 Divinity – Slightly higher survivability than Beryl OrbsInteresting choices:
6/6 Melandru – -25% condition/stun duration and high toughness
6/6 Lyssa – Boons when using Elite and high precision
6/6 Hoelbrak – -20% condition duration, high power and uses for might

But let me just correct 1 thing Lyssa gives boons on heal and removes condition on elite.

Take the init regen traits, including on using a signet and Vigor on healing 20% dmg on targets with <50% HP
Take the roll back healing ability and off you go.
The rest is pretty much your choice.

you and all thieves leaving the raid without our blasts to buff/heal them wile we hide behind a rock for 30 sec or waypoint to basecamp.
Do thieves realize they still have insane mobility if they have to run? You still have infiltrator’s arrow, shadowstep, sword 2, and HS is a leap. Are you saying that you can’t fight at all if your enemies can see you, or you lose the ability to reset fights with a 5-2 combo? Thieves can still get away if they are hit with this trap, you just won’t be invisible (which is close to invulnerability when running – you can’t be detected or targeted with ranged attacks and nobody knows what direction you went). I applaud the WvW for using methods within their capability to try to balance an imbalanced mechanic (I am assuming nobody on the WvW team has a say in class balance).
Do non thieves realise that talking without knowledge of the profession and babbling nonsense on that particular profession forum makes them look dumb?
Back on topic, no other profession gets as much penalty as a thief with these trap all other professions can simply ignore it, “aw well vail didn’t work… just get into them” the thief profession will not be able to use ANY of its stealth abilities nor the abilities we get from being is stealth as well as the benefits from the traits (including a 30 point one) for half a minute!! this leaves us with 2 choices: 1) go full evade spaming or 2) bring your alt instead…
if you ask me it is too kitten cheap… I play very casually (about 10h per week) and i have almost 2 million karma…
Not to mention that EVERY profession besides the thief can tank a thief for 4s wile arming the trap… (Protection/invulnerability/block/Deathshroud/Mistform/Retaliation/zero dmg)
every one will have these traps at all times and will be /laughing at thieves in wvwvw.

It would also be nice if we could see which team was capping. Right now we are only informed that a point is being contested by the cross-swords icon on top of the screen, but not by which team.
This will probably be difficult because if a point is contested, players from both teams might be on it…In which case no single team is capping it.
True, but instead of the white contested circle make it fill gradually with the color of the team camping it. If there are players from both tens inside it could simply be white or show the among of caping by a team. I.e. 5% blue, if it is not “growing” it means that players from both teams are in the circle.
In theory it’s awesome, not sure it’s easy to implement. Although it exists in other games.

I do play a Thief as main but i play other professions too and yes i have soloed bunkers.
Unfortunately i do not have a team since they all stopped playing… I do not have recording software nor a great computer but i’ll try fraping a few matches or duels with guildies if it doesn’t lower my fps to much…
btw haven’t you ever soloed a bunker speced profession?!

As for Rangers, you need to bring some friends and one of them MUST be a necro, to be able to kill the ranger…

Against a Bunker build, you’re going to need 2 people, It doesn’t matter which bunker build you’re fighting.
The optimal setup for killing a Ranger Bunker build is Necro + Burster
That isn’t to say you couldn’t do it with other, a Trap Ranger + Burster would also work for example… But you need someone to apply conditions heavily on the Ranger.
Engineer would work also, Well timed Supply Drop is death.
Sorry but all the other bunker speced professions are soloable, IF there is skill enough to counter them.
i.e. A guardian, if you keep enough pressure on them, remove boons and interrupt the heal, he dies.
i.e. An ele, dodge/evade they’re first attacks and apply condis/pressure dps to force them to get into water attunement, root/slow them right after. dead ele.
i.e. Engi, keep your distance, use ranged attacks and conditions, after he uses it’s heal then move in and spike them down. boon removal also helps allot.
Ranger… fight him until you die or until you are bored and go away…. -_-’ your skill has no play in this fight.
I would spend my time on a map like that!
Not that i don’t like the current system, its just way to repetitive to do the same things and all of the different maps… something different would come as a breeze of fresh air to the game. the OP’s idea is not bad, make it a big enough map with buffs like on Temple of the Silent Storm and also 2-3 levels (bridges, tunnels, water).
If Anet doesn’t wanna include it on tournaments, fine! its just for fun, like Raid on the Capricorn was SUPPOSE to be but it’s actually not…
aw and btw dont even bother engaging one under water…

Eles were Immortal for a long time but were brought down to match most professions but rangers, when specced, are able to survive almost anything…
Will this ever be addressed?
