lol the servers will cost millions not just a few thousands, good luck with a kickstarter for that lol
Well Mark Jacobs just raised 2.2 million on Kickstarter for his new Camelot Unchained MMO.

Isn’t that the guy who lost EA over $1 billion with Warhammer?
The char use kitty litter.
Don’t know who you are, but I’m bored at work so figured I’d respond to the thread all the same. Good luck whoever you are with whatever it is you’re doing.
I’m fairly certain 99.9999999% of all posts on this board are due to being bored at work. I sure hope so, at least.
Who’s bright idea was it to have an 8 hour work day?
I don’t know, but if I ever find them I am going to kick them square in the nuts.
There were a lot of people fighting for the 8 hour day around the world. It was a key issue in many labour disputes in the 19th and 20th centuries. But if you wanted to name a figurehead, I guess Franklin D. Roosevelt would be your man. BTW, they were fighting against longer hours.
OOTC: I guess once the bandwagon runs out of steam, the bandwagoneers hop off.
“Summoned creatures and pets can no longer draw aggro from enemies that have not already aggroed on their master.”
That will make ninja’ing chests harder.
So my thief just downed a ranger.
After almost downing it, the rangers pet interrupts me, then starts chasing me around as I try and kill it. Then downs me with a 6k hit.
Then it proceeds to rez the downed ranger, then they both destroy me.
Fun fun fun!
What kind of thief doesn’t use shadow refuge before stomp?
Edit: and follow up with dance.

Swords + traps/bonfire/healing spring = combo fun.
For instance if you lay down a frost trap at your enemies feet it goes off straight away, and if you follow up with a GS leap you get frost armour.
And if you use wolves they often do combo finishers as well.
In PVE I often use Sword torch with 2 traps, and use bonfire a lot. It really helps with the DPS.
Short bow is for kiting and PvP. And LB is only good as a siege weapon in WvW.

On the other hand, we were disappointed that you guys were so bad that with at least 3x our numbers you didn’t manage to make a scratch on hills or even get to the gate. All you managed to do was hold one little tower and get farmed, having far more casualties on your side then ours every fail bomb you tried.
All I ever see xoxo do is sit outside towers and wait for the lemmings to go over the walls.
It’s pointless defending a tower against xoxo because they just sit there. They have no real intention of taking it. Sometimes they set up a cat so they can farm people suiciding it. Half the time they don’t even fire the cat.
Usually they sit there so long that a passing SF Zerg chases them away.
The forums are to WvW as a “your momma so fat” contest is to a title fight.
why would this even bother anyone at all?.
Duh, why would anyone do it except to bother someone?
I have a house IRL. I want stuff in games I don’t have IRL, like swords and magic. Couldn’t care less about houses.
Running around swining a sword right next to a tank column supported by aircraft, artillery and whatnot, just doesn’t make any flipping sense.
If you ask me this game needs to decide wether it wants to be heavy steampunk modern combat fantasy or either your regular fantasy setting with a touch of tech, because right now it’s so darn conflicting.
Swords were used for a long time after the invention of firearms. Until the development of magazines and rapid firing weapons you still needed a backup weapon in case you missed.
Just to nitpick – language and alphabet are not the same thing. There a a lot more written languages than there are alphabets.
Destiny’s Edge has so much problem that they did nothing to help out in the war effort. All the time that we are preparing to take on Zhaitan, they are doing speed runs in the dungeons. :/
It’d be nice to think that ANet had slipped in a jibe about all the fail and drama that goes with traditional instanced dungeons vs open world events. But then they made the last part of the story an instanced dungeon, so that theory doesn’t really add up.
You know what they say about the Internet:
“Where the men are men, the women are men, and the children are FBI agents.”
Atheists are trying to prove the non-exsistance of gods.
kitten that for a joke. Imagine trying to prove that every grawl god wasn’t real.
The burden of proof lies with whomever posits a supernatural agency as a hypothetical explanation for natural phenomena.
“Fun? Is that how it’s pronounced? I’ve only ever seen it written.”
- Mr Burns from the Simpsons.
I’ll just leave these here.
That concept is core to Abrahamic religions, less so to others. None of the Gods in GW2 are like the god of Abraham.
</thread>I decided to just go back to WoW.
Microsoft are really tight about control over the game network. Everyone has to be tied to their live account, no intercation with other platforms and networks. That’s why their’s no Dust for Xbox. Any Xbox MMOs are likely to be exclusives.
Given that to some extent these games are both fantastical and anachronistic, this presence makes sense.
The only thing that bugs me a little bit is how the ‘atheist’ race is also the most militant and hostile race. It’s very likely it would be the opposite.
Many (but not all) members of a certain german political party prominent during WW2, who’s name gets filtered by these forums were atheists, and, of course, very militaristic. And many communists have been atheistic and militaristic – notably Joseph Stalin.
The Charr are kind of like kitten-Germany (See what what the forums do there).
Atheisim, and a lack of spirituality certainly became more common after the industrial revolution in western culture, when people started to realise science did a better job of explaining the natural world than religion did. So it’s not surprising that the industrialised Charr have been portrayed as atheists.
(edited by Wanderer.3248)
I understand religion is a sensitive subject for many and being an atheist i don’t care much for it at all. Throughout the game I have noticed dialogue that catered for or against religion within the game realm and i was wondering why it is needed in video games? for example the tournament master would say “I pray to the spirits of the wild…but they hardly answer” there would be other dialogue similar to this throughout the game but i was just curious as to why this is necessary in games .
In historical settings, atheists were incredibly rare. GW2 seems to emulate a 1700-1800 CE time period, there were practically no outspoken atheists at that time in earths history. It would be odd to have a semi-historical setting without religion.
Also in a world where magic and gods and spirits are actually real, some people are bound to revere them.
One thing I miss from WAR is open warbands.
(Anyone in WAR could start an open warband that anyone in range could join without having to ask/be asked). It made it a lot easier for new players and PUGs to get around.
To some extent this is less needed in GW2 because everyone can share buffs, heals, kills etc without being in a group. But it had other features like communication, being able to see other players on the map etc that was useful in open warfare.
Confusion is fine. The obvious counter is to play a class that does next to no damage.
I’ve seen some quite good PvP guilds “run” from a larger force, only to turn on the people chasing them when the pushers became strung out. I’ve watched them do it repeatedly, so it’s obviously an intentional bait-and-switch tactic.
Running is boring.
Running to a fight after repeatedly dying is boring and frustrating.
Pushes are great – when they work. Fail pushes are just fail.
I like the Sylavri as they are better than most of the images in this thread.
It would be nice if Sylvari started with some racial armor. It would make sense for them to acquire human armor later in life, as they explored areas outside the Jungle.
If this is how it is everyday as FC and ET say, please move along SF. Go to tier 6.
Not before you guys say hello to T8
Waiting to welcome ET to T7 with open arms.
How about SF moves up. Whoever wins in T8 moves up. Then Anet can figure out the rest in tiers 6 and above. Then we can call it good.
ET, HoD and DR would be interesting.
Looks like there is still a big gap in rating for ET to close though.
I agree, and I’m not sure what we’re discussing now… What you’ve done is point out the problem with levels in GW2, not the original function of levels in D&D. Part of the problem you’ve shown is with the high numbers in modern games (level 80 etc.) I mentioned that in my first reply – it’s another reason these high numbers are bad IMO.
Well to make the circle to DnD which basically invented levels… it was used because it’s too much work to change relevant attributes after every levels. Because of that, it was lumped together as “experience”, making the changing of sheets a once-a-day instead of once-a-battle thing. Since videogames aren’t based on pen and paper, the only really valid argument in favor of levels as a gating mechanism disappears.
Some single player RPGs, like Skyrim have levels based on skill, rather than the other way around. I think a Skyrim style advancement system could work well.
Trouble is that there are a lot of gamers that have been practically institutionalised by WoW and are very, very resistant to alternate concepts.
Level 80s in full exotics can stomp all over low level zones. I think they should make down levelling even harsher.
Their uniforms are a bit of a giveaway.
Because they are vigilant? No need to read too much into it.
I don’t really care about AFK payers, but people in higher tiers with queues would be mad if there were a large number of AFK people “defending” from the safety of the Lord room and taking up WvW slots.
I would love to see rewards for defending, but it would have to be for actual contribution, not just standing there.
(edited by Wanderer.3248)
The one in the second shot is a necromancer. One of the buffs is a signet of the locust.
Maybe he hid in the keep somewhere? That might explain also explain the necro pets on your side of the door.
(edited by Wanderer.3248)
I get the supply without the chest. And if I ever get rates, they are from normal loot bags. Chests never have anything good in them. Pretty sure the whole system is bugged.
How to reward defence without making it easy for bots and AFK players?
There are absolutely zero excusses of why we are winning other then good players and tactics. You can start pointing out numbers, zergs, etc. I’ll tell you what, as a commander, we have been working together very well and using tactics. Whether it be a well placed zerg or golem rukitten’s all part of the game and tactics. Our strategies are working and I’m proud to take part in these battles.
-Marnoll Whitefyre [Gore]
You bring a Zerg to the gates of a keep. When that doesn’t work you run around and around the keep like headless chickens.
When that doesn’t work you bring in twice the numbers and a score of golems. But do you bother to clear siege first? Nope, you just charge them all in under heavy fire. Sure you take the keep, but only due to overwhelming numerical superiority. And you end up wit a bunch of half dead golems.
That’s not skill, or tactics. You should fire your commanders. Anyone in charge of that should fall on their sword.
I"m in SF BL son….not EB…….. And that’s easy to stop….put 2 arrow carts up on your gates…problem solved.
Lol at thinking 2 arrow carts will stop a dozen golems and 100 players.
They obviously grow good product in the fields of SF.

I guess I must have missed all those times when SF fielded 100 person Zergs in t8.
Must have been looking the other way.
Wait you left T7 because you wanted even fights….but you believe that the problem in T8 wasn’t the system. Looks like the brave people on T8 made out pretty well. ET is looking real nice too
If you had those numbers in T8 they should have been on the field and not whining about the system.
100 man zergs could have painted the map green. 25 Golems could have taken anything. (I only saw 15 myself, but your guys say 25).
If you’d had those numbers in t8 you would have been out of there in a week.
Wanderer.3248
I don’t see what that has to do with what I said. VK said that SF have the numbers, but no great skill. But NSP and GoM and HoD have numbers too.
I just can’t see SF dominating T7 like they do in T8. And I doubt that ET or SF are a match for any T7 server.
Maybe it isn’t that system is broken – maybe SF needs to win more convincingly to be worthy of T7.
You should have never moved out of ET…funny to see how things turn out. ET will be up here smashing people too.
Shame on me for looking for a balanced matchup.
Didn’t see SF getting a handicap and getting bumped to T7. Didn’t see a bunch of bandwagon players all coming to SF again to unbalance another tier.
This is like the second week in T8, after SF got its first load of transfers.
Still have more respect for ET, or FC, or GoM than SF. Any fair fight is a good one.
Uhm, SF has been high pop before free transfers ended months ago, we didn’t get any transfers. I think you are confused with ET and FC maybe?
And really? Bitter because we golem rushed? You’ll have to get used to that, we have certain Commanders that are famous for it. When it stops working, we’ll stop using it.
You have entire new guilds in there. Your numbers are way higher than they were yesterday.
False. What we do have is people waking from the ghetto imposed slumber.
<the internet is only fact free if you allow it to be>
If you’d had those numbers in T8 you would have left long ago. You could have spawned camped ET and SF around the clock.
Those are not players that were fighting for SF in tier 8.

SF is entirely boring to fights, i hope they upgrade out of this tier in one week with how zergy they is
Le gasp…. zergs in WvW…what will we think of next…
you can zerg if you want, thats besides the point you dumbo. Thus far your server isn’t a challenge in even numbers or lesser numbers hence why you are boring and i hope you get out of this tier asap and hopefully we get a server with people that small man. Henge I’m liking more and more as time goes on and I hope NSP fights them for awhile at least
Unless SF has small man groups and I havent encountered them yet /shrug
you will learn to hate the KING guild
also understand SF NEVER needed to be good. they dominated us without tactics and thus they never needed to learn tactics. that will change soon enough.
Not with the numbers they are bringing to fights now. Who needs learning when you have 15 Golems?

Dumbo? Like the disney cartoon?
Say what you want, name-call, and cry about what you aren’t getting out of “your” WvW experience(s)…My point (crude as it was) was don’t join something called WORLD vs WORLD and expect us all to sit around a camp fire and sing kumbaya while you 1v1 people….
Most people enjoy the huge fights, otherwise we would be in the 9th circle of hell that ANET calls sPVP (free-build tests)
dude why are you so upset I just said I hope your server gets promoted because I don’t enjoy fighting your server.
HOLY get some thicker skin
I love all the all they people that said we dind’t belong here and now they just want us to move up a tier in a week
All those new players you got came from those tiers in the first place.
Good to see that SF is bringing so many new players into WvW.
Oh wait, they are all transfers? NVM.
I was taking shots within an hour of each other and those were the number that were on each of the still doesn’t match the armies on T8.
A shot of a group taking a supply camp is not really very convincing.
The shots of T8 are more interesting. Clearly ET has grown in recent weeks.
Definitely disagree with #2. The beauty of WvW is that anyone can play. If you start making buffs limited to party members, it now forces people to group or they cannot participate as effectively.
I’m ok with making most buffs limited to party members. Makes each team need a support to work well and rewards more organized forces. However, I also think that if they do that they should add raid groups and buffs that effect whole raid ( elite skills maybe).
Organised forces already have a huge advantage in tactics and communication over PUG groups. If a group with voice coms and synchronised tactics can’t outplay larger groups they need to rethink their strategy.
If you buff 5 man groups so that they can run around wiping 40 man pugs you will kill WvW. It will become another Warhammer Online.
Agreed. It’s a complicated problem to solve as it touches a lot of broad systems, so I can’t guarantee it will happen soon, but I would very much like for us to alleviate this some way or another.
Loot bags and chests gained from kills could be alleviated by placing a large chest that is spawned at your servers spawn on the map that you can collect your loot from whenever you please. The chest can open up like a bank-esque system where you can withdraw what you want a discard the rest. The chest does not disappear at log off, but rather is saved in case you need to quickly bail out of WvW. Badges would be treated as currency and instead of taking up a slot in the loot chest, they instead are represented just as gold is in a players personal bank.
Or even simpler, have the badges from kills go straight onto the inventory tab next to karma and laurels automatically, the same way we get XP, Karma and WXP. No bags, chests or anything needed.
Well, if we’re speaking in accordance to T8, I think any of the current T7 competitors would just absolutely demolish it. SF are the only real threat in that tier, and they were easily beat out by HoD even when we had a very low population compared to them. They seem to boast a lot about how they deserve HoD’s spot in our tier, but for some reason no one’s managed to push us down yet.
Honestly?
I think SF will powerhouse through this tier and they shouldn’t be under estimated.
You all remember Kaineng right?
Well its probably the same deal, but without War Machine.Neighbor servers are all really quite similar, and if SF is roflstomping only a tier below us? Then they’ll either be equal or greater than us.
HoD is clearly stronger than it used to be, thats plenty of evidence to show of what a bit of time and a few xfers can do.
And trust me, SF will be getting those transfers too, since people uptop will be thinking Kaineng 2.0 easy month of win and Wexp.
I fought both Kain and SF when I was on ET, and Kain kicked our butts much much harder than SF ever did. Kain had nighttime zergs bigger than SF daytime zergs.
I fought against a lot of servers in ETs long fall from the top, and I’d say that most of them were easily a match for SF. Kain was something else. Not every server that comes out of T8 is going to pull a Kain.
