Some roamers jump up and down because you failed to kill them Warriors, Thieves, and Mesmers do this alot.
I like to picture it as some sort of mating ritual dance.
They remind me of overexcited chimpanzees. I’m sure they’re good at slinging stuff too.
Come to Kaineng for free!
Special K will always be known as the kittens that abused free transfers to make a slew of lower ranked servers miserable for months “back in the day”. If Kaineng attracted a large contingent of higher tier players and dominated bronze league that would have to be some type of cosmic joke.
“Doing a Kaineng” already means to rise high in the leagues, but then fail and fall all the way back down again. It would be ironic, and amusing, if it happened all over again.
Why they would waste time that kind of kitten? Idea is play game not sit inside some house. Weird thing is that people are interest some houses. In Russian game allods you could buy own ship and sail on special zones with party. Well system was total kitten, but at least it was more interesting than some housing system.
Ships would rock (excuse the pun). Airships would be even cooler.
One of the most fun things in ACIV is getting your own pirate ship.
You’d think that all the players dropping like flies in the Lions Arch events would review their builds, but they don’t seem to catch on very quickly.
ANet doesn’t really seem all that interested in any player activity that involves fewer than five players.
It’s a race of walking trees and all you care about is cup size?
What would be really cool would be to have some less humanoid options. For example being able to change the length of the limbs, or the shape of the head, or the position of the head. Or to have four legs (although that would rule out wearing human armour).
Just because the WvW population is low doesn’t mean the PVE population is low.
I believe that the Nightmare Court are embracing Mordremoth just like the Sons of Svanir are embracing Jormag.
Except that Caderyn founded the nightmare court because he didn’t think the Sylvari were ruthless enough to defeat the Dragons. The nightmare court are as opposed to dragons as anyone else, and they have a “with us or against us” attitude to the fight.
WVW: (and other) Move all pet-based utility skills (guard, sick-em, search and rescue, etc) to the pet function bar.
Why do people automatically assume all plants are connected?
Do you assume that all animals (Humans, Char, Centaurs, Skrit etc) are all linked in some way?
Are the Glendarin fields (you know, like the grass) also servants of the “Jungle” dragon?? How about Vanilla beans? Should we expect to see vanilla bean minions at some point in the future?
Yeah, and don’t get my started on Ranger’s huge level of condition removal, access to stability, mobility, AOE and wide variety of weapons that totally don’t suck.
</sarcasm>I spam pistol 2 on my thief in the hope that it will annoy enough people that immobilization gets nerfed.
It’s the only major harbor in the game. Assuming Scarlet doesn’t completely destroy the harbor, or unleash some permanent hell-spawn or whatever, then some sort of city should rise on the same site.
Commerce beats combat.
Still to figure out why Tequatl got stronger!

Probably one of those master and apprentice deals, like Ra and Horus, or Tolkien’s Morgoth and Sauron, or Starcraft’s Over-mind and Queen of Blades.
Once the master dies, the apprentice steps in.
The Karma, the Gold, the Badges, the ore, the costumes, the stats, the score they’re all meaningless entries in a database that can be changed with lines of code.
The only thing that means anything is having fun.
Intelligence != Free Will.
That actually happens to be the definition of it and the reason why we can create AI that learns and adapts… not to humanoid levels but kinda housecat like at least.
Programs can be made to appear to be very intelligent, even to hold what appear to be meaningful conversations, without exhibiting any actual understanding of what they are saying, let alone having any choice in what they say, or even any actual awareness that they are saying it.
Computer programs can, and do, insult people, but they are just following their programming. I would imagine that dragon minions are probably similar. They can be highly intelligent, and still be constrained to their programming.
The nightmare court, if anything, seem to be the opposite. They are all about free will, so much so that they embrace insanity as a form of freedom.
They probably only came up with the character recently.
I doubt the whole living story was drafted from the beginning. It’s more like one of those long running TV shows (or comic strips) where they keep swapping writers and continuity is mostly constructed in the imagination of the audience.
Who knows what super-villains The Joker, oops, I mean Scarlet will ally with next week.
They were only available in southsun chests
I had a reef rider drop from killing a vet reef rider. No Southsun supply crate, just a “normal” rare chest.
I don’t know what the odds are, or if they still drop.
You shouldn’t be able to target the vertical face of a wall with AOE. Problem solved.
AOE won’t stop zergs forming. It’ll just spread them out more. WAR still had zergs, even with totally OP AOE. The Zergs just spread out so that they wouldn’t all be caught in a single bomb group. The bombs groups had no real skill, they just relied on an OP mechanic and a FoTM build (which became a flavor of forever build because it never got nerfed).
And the meta was all about mitigating CC and fire damage (which was the main AOE damage type). Ironically the fire resistance meta it tended to render the OP wizard classes less useful against even numbers (so they cried and got buffed).
If you buff AOE youll have the same problem in GW2, you’ll have DD ele bomb groups doing what bright wizards did to WAR.
Remove AOE cap and everyone rebuilds to AOE + crowd control. Totally new meta for weapons, skills, runes etc. Game balance goes down the toilet. ANet has to re-balance the entire game.
How is this an easy solution?
And bringing up DAOC and WAR as examples of great WvW. Seriously? Where are those games? CC + AOE basically destroyed game balance in WAR and caused a mass exodus of players. And DAOC was never popular.
Why not just argue that communism was a great success?
What you fail to realize is that they are pretty much useless in combat.
Maybe not in 1v1 or small fights, but a bunker warrior can also be very fast and be useful in Zerg fights.
So warriors are a better ranged class compared to rangers?
Yes. Because warrior longbow > ranger longbow. And warriors are faster, have better HP, higher toughness, better healing, better stability and better condition removal.
But not because of rifle.
Warriors may be overpowered, but glass cannon rifle builds are not the reason. It’s hard to actually land a kill shot in a WvW fight, there are so many ways of avoiding it. Rifles in WvW are pretty ineffective.
Oy vey, this again.
Mine have a mix of gear. Usually 2-3 pieces of cultural, but with some pieces of Order or plain gear, and some other stuff. Kind of a Lions Arch immigrant look.
The worst time I’ve had with retaliation was on my mesmer when I dropped chaos storm and feedback on a zerg. Apparently reflected projectiles count as my attacks and thus proc retaliation. 20k hp to downed in 2 attacks!
Drop null field on the Zerg first.
You fight them in exactly the same way you fight a perma-stealth thief.
Except mesmers can deal tons of damage while hiding in stealth. Thieves have to reveal themselves, but a mesmer can have the clones up dealing damage the whole time they are hiding.
Phantasms deal damage, not clones. If you want to fight a Mesmer you’re going to need to know how to spot the difference.
They should buff cannons, and fix AOE on walls. Then players wouldn’t be able to stand there DPSing gates.
If the servers are evenly matched then it’s easier to roll stuff in EBG. So the karma trains prefer EBG. This creates a self reinforcing gameplay that pushes the small gank teams into the borderlands and this helps keep the karma train in EBG, because the karma train doesn’t like getting ganked.
So you take away the ability for the attacking side to aoe the wall which of course provides a massive advantage to the defending side as they can sit on the wall doing lots of aoe damage as well as all the damage from ac’s, ballista’s etc. Then people come here complaining about how impossible it is for the attacking side. If any player should be able to aoe a wall it should be a ranger considering they carry a long bow.
Ranger bows are one of the worst weapons on walls (as attacker or defender). Axe usually works better than bow.
This thread is so 2012.
Rangers are supposed to range in the wilderness without startling animals. Their theme specifically bans complex technology and firearms.
You don’t have to worry about startling it once it’s dead. One shot, one kill.
I could see maybe a SB Guardian, and I know a lot of us have been waiting for MH pistols for Mesmers. Now a Hammer Ranger would be just funny.
They could use it to hammer in tent pegs.
JK.
Rangers are just really good at pulling things out of their hats.
no surprise here, lately this is the new meta my server, including the other servers been doing; putting a mesmer/s to hide inside keeps to port their players.
Wait, what, is this 2012?
Even the lowest ranked servers sweep for mesmers.
rangers have only 1 field and others still can put down troll fields. rangers have less source of stability, less armor, cc, damage and respect
Rangers can put down fire (torch or trap), water, and ice (with a trap).
A respect field would be useful though. And troll field to summon some adds.
While his reasons are kind of hard to follow, he is correct.
There is a reason why Guardians and Warriors will pretty much never be turned down for a dungeon group, and why those two professions make up most of wvw zergs…
Warriors aren’t wanted for their defences. Dungeon groups want DPS.
I think a lot of the trepidation most non-voicecomms users is that they imagine it will be like this
That’s funny as. Couldn’t understand that Scottish(?) accent half the time.
“We know they’re kittening coming from behind, of course they’re kittening coming from behind, they’re kittening coming from everywhere! Their whole kittening Zerg is out to get us!!”
And don’t try to force microphones onto them some people just don’t want to talk. You better mention that when you advertise your TS that it is not a requirement to talk on TS.
Most people in WvW shouldn’t need to talk. I’ve seen some commanders tell people not to chatter in their channels. Too few though, if you ask me.
Agreed with everything but this paragraph. Ranged tend to die easier in a push, especially if your front line fails to keep the enemy back. As a staff ele, I can live for quite a while, but after a while of fighting, cooldowns will catch up with you and you will die.
Rangers should learn to swap to a GS to defend themselves if they have to. GS 2 and GS 4 make excellent escape tools. It’s amusing to have some warrior go yolo on your ranger thinking you’re a soft target, only to plant them on their kitten with GS 4 and then turn and leap way out of their range with GS 2.
Nope, even when I do use TS (usually when I’m running with the Yakslappers guild group) the commanders never go into that sort of detail. They must be doing something right, as we finished second in our league above some higher-population servers and behind only the Desolation gigazerg.
Or maybe your enemies weren’t using voice comms effectively either.
Have you played Skyrim? There were load screens for the loading screens just so you could go to the next room to see another loading screen and those took forever!
Skyrim’s loading screens were awful. I avoided entering buildings unless I absolutely had to.
You want dwarves, go to the movies. They’re falling all over themselves.
Ascended gear should be available for badges.
The line of sight issues that make it easier to AOE targets on the walls than it is to AOE targets on the ground should have been fixed before release.
But anything that slows down the karma train will probably be unpopular.
Why would you bother though?
To stomp people in WvW? Mostly noobs who don’t know how to spot the no-life.
Ironically people who have maxed out their build and already have a full set of ascended weapons and armor, always run around with a full stack of applied fortitude, which is like a giant “keep away” flag in WvW.
No, because crowd control sucks balls.
ok Anet please pay attention to what HOD is doing. They faced FC for the past two weeks and they completely steamrolled them all week long. Now all of a sudden their players aren’t steamrolling FC all week. I believe they are purposely tanking the scores so they wont have to play against more competitive servers. I wouldn’t be complaining if the scores were close before but they really need to be in the same division as Blackgate or Jade Quarry. The only reason the scores are this close this week is because they are TANKING. This crap sucks for FC and its just stupid to continue to keep them in our division.
Lol @ HoD vs Blackgate. You have no idea.
