Collision detection is a terrible idea.
Having the ability to block someone from going somewhere will be a nightmare.
If we have problems with griefers (from other servers) suiciding golems in WvW, imagine what they can do with collision detection. Five will stand by an entrance and no one can go in.
Just a bad idea, i’m glad it wasn’t in this game to begin with.It would be like DAoC and WAR and it would be so good.
Collision detection was very unpopular in W:AR because of the stalemates it caused when people blocked stairs. Personally I liked it, but I suspect ANet deliberately made it easier to get into towers and keeps.
It seems that veteran karkas have a 100% drop rate for a karka shell. Each shell sells for a little over 8 silver. A zerg of people can down a veteran karka in about 15-20 seconds. This currently yields more gold per hour than the FGS champ farm.
I just thought I would let those who did not know about it as this is the last weekend to farm before ascended armor comes out. Good luck!
Lol, a Zerg. South sun is usually deserted. You can solo one fairly easily with the right build.
There’s usually too much random chatter and not enough relevant communication. I don’t play WvW to hear about people’s real lives.
Occasionally you get a commander who uses TS well, calls targets, combo fields etc. But not often.
You don’t need team speak if all the commander is doing is telling you which tower they’re hitting next, followed by some random kitten about real world politics and their musical tastes.
Dunno about the fight suggestion. If you happen to be somewhere behind a zerg, taking down one mob just clear the spawn point for another. End result is that you will be attrition-ed down the moment an elite spawns on your behind (in particular those hypnoss and their ogre summons).
If there’s a Zerg just run straight for it, because if you get left behind you’ll get killed by all the respawns and any mobs that are rubber banding back.
so according to the patch notes:
Once inside the Tower of Nightmares, players will need to make their way up the tower, scaling three floors of horrifying dangers to reach the heart of the tower—a massive, noxious bloom pulsing with malevolent power. At the apex of the tower, players can enter the chamber protecting the tower’s heart and begin a story instance that can be completed solo or with a group of up to five players.
Upon defeating the challenges of the story instance, players can finish what the scouting team could not: inject Marjory’s antitoxin directly into the heart of the tower!
The story instance also has a repeatable mode so players can confront the challenges as many times as they like for additional rewards and accolades. Upon each completion, players will be able to inject another dose of antitoxin, weakening the tower that much more.i was under the impression that the repeatable version would also have a solo version, but apparently, the solo instance is only available for the initial story mode, unless i’m bugged. i’ve noticed no difference between entering solo, or entering with a full group. the impact of course is mainly fighting the champ toxin jabba the hutt at the end.
i guess i’m either bacon deficient, or i need to learn better how to solo champs with adds and spores… :-/ yeah, i’m still learning how to play…
Take out the adds and avoid the red circles. The only really tricky bit is learning when to kite the big slug and when to go in for melee, and when to block or dodge. Having a defensive weapon set plus a ranged weapon set is a good idea. I don’t recommend just standing there for the whole fight.
GS ranger can solo most stuff, but there’s always some idiot that runs through with four extra vets chasing them and suddenly you’ve chain stunned with five stacks of confusion bleeding and torment and it’s a repair bill plus 5 silver to get back.
It’s impossible to get anywhere with only one or two players, and with no one around people aren’t forming zergs or even parties. The central chamber is unreachable even with the third floor waypoint, and the repair bills are getting out of hand.
The gods are missing and you’re all worried about horses?
It is not science fiction. It has a few trappings of sci-fi, and a few more of steampunk. But it’s all just technobabble.
There is no science involved at all. But this is true of all games, even ones like EVE, which is more space opera than SF, or TOR, which is just fantasy with spaceships.
I doubt a real SF game would be very fun.
In WoW it only ever got used in PvP. And you can’t see any emotes from the opposing team in WvW anyway.
@ everyone saying just farm the mats yourself, how about HOW LONG does it takes I’m pretty sure its over 100 hours of gathering mats… again a massive grind.
I’m backing up my 200g claim with a real source were is yours?
Don’t bother trying to explain this to them Zepidel. You can argue with these muppets until you’re blue in the face, but they’ll never understand opportunity cost.
Kain wipes whenever they encounter half their numbers.
Good thing they have more than the other two servers put together. They do OK if they all run around in one big blob.
Seriously, some of your wipes have been the most fail-tastic I have ever seen in Guild Wars. Ever.
Because why keep things civil if we can bash and generalize another server, right?
You were all in one Zerg. You all did the same thing. It’s hard not to generalise when you all act like clones.
The only time I saw Kain who weren’t in the Zerg, they appeared to be lost up levels trying desperately to keep up with the Zerg.

This kind of talk is so stale. It’s in every matchup, every week. It ends up sounding like you just rage quit and came directly here. Please cool off a bit before posting in the future.
I got tired of mopping up your stragglers and watching your zergs fail to take bay and hills for 12 hours. The bags you guys drop under siege fire more than made up for few times I couldn’t escape from twenty players at once. I’m going to have to craft bigger bags before I head back into WvW.
I have never seen a Zerg abandon players who couldn’t keep up the way Kain did sat night. I saw a dozen Kain payers get killed in the courtyard of lakes by half a dozen HoD, while the blob huddled in the lord room to farm Karma and dust and did absolutely nothing. Even when you took the tower half the players just ported out rather than fight us. I feel sorry for the players who did try and actually play, and who were ignored by the Kain Zerg.
I have never seen such poor tactics. It’s like you guys have never encountered actual resistance. Building golems under fire from multiple arrow carts at the doors of a reinforced keep? What did you think would happen?

I think Queen Jenna is just some code in a virtual reality, and all of Tyria is just algorithms running on some computers somewhere.
Pure DPS is WvW is just thief bait. Or asking to get one shotted by a ballista.
Ok sooooo… I have not been online yet, but looking at the score, what’s happening. Did HoD get a big influx of new guilds?
They not all at once, but there have been some transfers. And a huge fair weather population. Mostly prime time players though, we still seem to lack oceanic coverage.
Even if you limited it to servers outside your current matchup, there is a lot of bad blood between servers, and a lot of potential for griefing and trolling.
How would guilds work?
Thief is completely useless outside of trolling stragglers. They should have more of a role in zergs.
Spamming blast finishers (if you have a Zerg that knows what it’s doing having the ability to spam a blast finisher can be really useful). You can apply AOE stealth, blindness, poison and weakness (with the right moves). Or just spam other people’s fields.
Shadow refuge on a downed ally to get them up can make the difference between winning and losing a fight. And you can often down and finish a weak opponent and get out again, in situations where they might have been healed back up by allies.
And as the fastest class in the game with the easiest escapes, they make excellent scouts. You might not get as many bags or WXP as a scout, but your commander will appreciate it.
It’s not fun. We’ve had several weeks of either being steamrolled, or steamrolling ourselves, and either way it means lots of PVD and not much PVP. It’s like being in a football game where you get placed against a first division team one week, and then a little league team the next.
Report them. ANet won’t (can’t) do anything until someone reports them.
And disregard what anyone says about it being ‘fair’ or ‘in the rules’. ANet make the rules, and they can change them too.
If enough people report trolls, the powers that be will probably do something, even if they’re only doing it to clear the ticket queues.
ANet seem to use the same RNG as Dilbert
Same as the last two weeks. Calling it.
4 blue > mystic forge = a chance of a green
4 green > mystic forge = a chance of yellow
4 yellow > mystic forge = a chance of exotic.Want exotics?
1. grab every daily guaranteed rare chest.
2. place all the yellows you get into the mystic forge.
3. pray to the rng gods.
4. ???
5. profitWant more exotics?
grab every blue/green piece to have a chance at making even more yellows. While doing the yellow process, you even have a chance at a precursor.
If luck does not smile on you for an exotic drop, then have a chance at luck to get an exotic from the mystic forge.
tl;dr
RNG
Better off salvaging the rare drops and using the ecto to craft exotics, and then salving those to get dark matter for ascended. Plus you can usually sell the salvaged sigils and runes on the TP for reasonable amounts.
Skill system is a garbage. Most of the time you use “skill” number one.
I only hit 1 when I’m not sure if I’m in range and I don’t want to waste another skill, or if I’m on a siege weapon, or on a sword ranger, (because of the sword ranger auto-attack locking problem).
Otherwise 1 is always auto-attack, and I use all my other skills when I can. Why would you neglect crowd control and finishing moves?
If you’re just standing there auto attacking then what you’re doing is too easy. Try something harder, like PvP, or soloing a champ, or three veterans at once, or a swarm of risen by yourself.
If you feel the need to be constantly surrounded by other people then go to Lions Arch or Queensdale. Or join the Zerg in WvW.
There are other people in the starter zones, but I don’t know why people expect them to all be swarming with people.
Personally I like that when I’m on the top of a mountain, or the bottom of a cave I’m not surrounded by idiots dancing and letting off fireworks and spamming map chat with stupid theories.
He explained on another video that as old people leave and new ones take their place. Different decisions may be made if there is a different management.
Some things change, some stay the same.
Hello Fellow Tyrians.
Maybe this is something that could put my life in risk by saying it but I’ve been suspecting for a while that queen Jennah isn’t a real person.
The last speech and some of the events in Edge of Destiny made me believe that she’s just an illusion cast by countess Anise and I believe that she’s the real ruller.
I would explain more, but I think I’m being followed by shining blade agents.
Oh, no! The largos assassin has entered the roo-
Now seriously. Do you think this is possible?
It would explain how her dress defies gravity.
Maybe we could build our player houses there. With cow and chicken.
Nice idea separating the servers, but how would you handle guilds?
I doubt ANet thought the WvW participation rates would be higher. The servers can only handle a small fraction of the total PVE player base base in WvW.
You realize that the edible parts of most plants are actually the gonads? Call them seeds, or fruit if you like, but what you are eating are the reproductive organs.
But if you want to eat out a Sylvari, be my guest…
You get badges, WxP, Karma and Silver. The other stuff is just gravy.
They all can, if you play them right.
You obviously ran dungeons a million times without the LFG tool, so just don’t use it.
You think Anet designed a LFG tool for the 0.01% of players who farm dungeons?
Leave it for the casuals.
Yay, another week of one server zerging down everything in sight, while the other two servers ninja back the (undefended and un-upgraded) objectives.
Lets all do our dailies in WvW without getting a single kill, or even seeing the enemy, except as a mass of name tags in the distance.
Maybe ANet could just give us a stack of dust while we log for the week off and do something entertaining, like paint our toenails.
Can’t be worse than the PVD-festival we had last week.
I take it back. Ten Omegas? That’s Sorrows Furnace level of play.
IoJ seems to be less zergy than I had expected. Less than some <cough>CD</cough> servers we have faced.
I thought I’d summarize my week facing CD in an artistic fashion.
LET ME MINE MY ORE, YO.
You totally nailed it.
you look like raging Raving rabbids :P
I’d spend gems on that mini.
Downed state is fine. You have to learn how to use it.
The only really hard parts to get to are the contested temples. And even then you can solo your way to the SP and WP of any contested temple if you use a bit of strategy and stability. Yes, that includes Arah.
WoW was released November 2004, and the first expansion in January 2007. They’ve done an expansion every two years, more or less. I’m not sure why people expected a full GW2 expansion after only one year.
Not that WoW is the only way to do things.
Most of the soundless seem to be pacifists.
Sword, greatsword and hammer on necro (add some spectral armor effects in the skills/finishers and you have a death night).
All weapons on thief (less stealth, more hard hitting evasive skirmisher style). Also dual sword thieves.
Sword eles. I want to be Gandalf. One of the skills has to be labelled ‘shall not pass’
Rifle on ranger.
Crossbows on everyone.
Dagger Mesmer. Fewer illusions, more mobility. (Mesmer really need some mobility options).
There’s nothing quite the same as a whole new map to explore. Finding the next waypoint, the next vista, the next town becomes a game in itself. Especially if you need to gain some levels and fight some baddies to get there.
I know a lot of people only care about the end-game, but exploring new things is what makes me buy new games, whether MMOs or single player RPGs like Skyrim.
It’s not the games fault if your players aren’t representing.
And if you don’t know who your loyal players are, what sort of guild are you running?
Go toe to toe with the boss for the duration of the fight and you should get a loot drop.
But be careful of that pirate boss.
