You get the cost back by killing a few mobs. I can only see this being an issue for champion trains, where people only get 1 bag per WP. Working as intended.
It’d have to be a short tournament, because the outcome of a 1v1 would be obvious within a day.
Arguably there are very few Sylvari who follow the tablet fully. The Sylvari pirates are obvious example of Sylvari who ignore the tablet, but realistically you’d have to be a pacifist monk that eats only sunlight to follow the teachings to the letter.
How many PC Sylvari have never killed some innocent deer or rabbit?
A common idea surrounding liches is that they transformed themselves into undead through some sort of magic, rather than had someone else bring them back or turn them.
Tyrian gods aren’t all powerful creators. They’re more like Greek or Norse Gods – virtually immortal (although they can be defeated) and with vast, but limited power. The implication is that no mortal can obtain that power, no matter how good their gear is.
If Tyrians ever invented an omnipotent deity, then they might claim that the gods were not “real” gods, in comparison. But in comparison to mortals, even the most powerful mortals, they are gods.

EotM in my opinion is there for PVEers to work on the WvW achievements with less PVP. It’s also a really solid way to level alts.
-Shrug-
I enjoy it.
I hate EoTM on a uplevel. Can’t tag anything before the glass cannon Zerg smashes it. And without traits many classes are slower than 80s as well.
EoTM for an uplevel is all running in circles and standing in circles.
What is your opinion on people that flee a fair duel once they realize they will lose? thieves and mesmers vanishing and warriors flying away are probably the main culprits here.
I solo roam a lot and I see a lot of people not just fleeing the duel once they start losing, but trying to aggro guards or even bring their friends into a 1vs1 duel.
All is fair in love and pvp, or is it cowardly?
This is a war, not a barn dance. If you’re built and geared for solo roaming it probably wasn’t a fair fight to start with.
Outmanned should give some serious buffs. Something like 5 stacks of applied fortitude and a 10% movement bonus.
I’d love to know how you can be sure a player is a bot.
Its very easy to recognise bots once you know what to look for.
They have certain behavoral patterns. The most common ones are:
- Never playing with any ally
- Not resurrecting NPCs or players
- Running away from Champions the instant they come in range
- Attacking invulnerable or obstructed mobs indefinitely
- Not jumping over obsticles or getting stuck
- Running bearbow Ranger or minion NecroThese are just a few of the obvious signs. Of course, you don’t report someone based upon just a few of these signs, you only report when you see them all. Otherwise, you risk tagging perfectly good players as bots.
Furthermore, ANet has 100% ability to verify bots, because bots will always execute actions in a certain way, for example they will not try to complete heart quests, and all of their chat (which is logged) will come off as either spam or nonsense.
There’s little risk of a legit player getting banned even if you accidentally report them because ANet carefully verifies the information beforehand.
But you still shouldn’t report unless you are absolutely sure.
I’d be curious to know how many times I have been reported(I have only 1 character IGN is: Mudbones[LaZy]) as being a bot(so, if you see that name and tag i’m not a bot) because I fit at least 50% of the criteria that you mentioned for being a bot.
I’m a big time SOLO FARMER running bearbow(my bear is excellent for soloing, I use my ranged black widow during events) in FGS and everywhere else, I even hop on trains I see running at the time for areas I go to for more lootz(not concerned with the coinage, just the mats from salvaging).
I would venture to say that 75% of reports on supposed bots are nothing more than people like me and only ties up dev resources on such reports when those resources could have been used to actually be working on the game.
MORE POWER TO THE SERIOUS FARMER.I will echo your last sentance; “you shouldn’t report unless you are ABSOLUTELY sure”.
Disagree. Report suspect bots and let Anet sort it out. It isn’t the devs who’ll be investigating. If enough people report them then ANet can get a better idea of the extent of the problem.
Bots are pretty kitten obvious. They run the same routes over and over and over and over. Unless you perform the exact same actions repeatedly, I doubt you’d get banned.
Back when bots were popular, I used to report dozens every day. Sometimes there were so many of them they looked like schools of fish swimming in circles. Thankfully there are hardly any these days (or they have gotten better at hiding).
What would new skills add? They’d probably be the same mechanics with different window dressing. If you had ten skills on each weapon then either some of the skills would be the same, or you’d have every ability (blast, leap, projectile, interrupt etc) on one weapon, and weapon choice and weapon swap would be meaningless.
The players won’t defend because there are few rewards for doing it, and the rewards for PVD are too high.
I find rangers the easiest class to solo camps with (and I have all classes at 80 and I’ve tried soloing camps with all of them). Any class can solo a camp, but rangers have an easier time of it.
Bunker rangers can be surprisingly hard to kill in WvW, but they are ineffective in a Zerg.
Axe rangers can lend a good amount of DPS to a Zerg, but you have to stay out of the way of the hammer train and avoid the red circles. They just don’t have the ability to survive burst damage on the front line. On the back line, with axe, horn, and greatsword, they aren’t too bad. (A lot of people favour LB, but I find the axe much more flexible and mobile, and the war horn blast finisher is not to be underestimated).
Whenever I look at this forum I see at least 3-4 threads titled “Sylvari must die” etc. WHY?? You wouldn’t see stuff like that on the other race forums and they all have their bad counter parts e.g Char~Flame Legion and Norn~Sons of Svanir. Just because the main anarchist of the game is Sylvari why should the whole race be condemned to “Evil killer plant people”? Do you think that if the main anarchist was a different race, would people hate that race instead? I just think its a shame to hate such an amazing people on the basis that one was mad……… Gimme opinions on this pelase
Honestly?
Because they are dull, uninteresting, and silly race. Whose only purpose in the game was Trahearne, who is the worst character I have ever witnessed in a storyline of a RTS/MMO. He blatantly steals the story, all to advertise how “awesome” Slyvari are when infact all he does is highlight all my gripes with Slyvari.
Let me list them;
- The whole concept is flawed, the fact they are called Slyvari to begin with suggests a long living elf like race that is both wise and knowledgable. Instead they are children, this left me dumbfounded and simply made me say, “So you called Dryads Slyvari, Ok… can I kill them all now?”
- I am of the belief and opinion that they replaced Tengu, which to me is a huge mistake. All because the head lore keeper liked the concept of them. The thing is, Tengu have been around since GW1, not only that but their history is rich and colourful. Full of culture, lore, loss, victory, and the fact GW1 had a event dedicated to Tengu made them highly popular and desired. In Slyvari what’s interesting I mean, magical trees? Pfft. Yeah no I seen this 100 times before. Wlyd Hunt interest? Again seen it before yawn countless times. Trahearne does this very well you see not only does he make you go on a magical adventure with a tree but also constantly brings up the fact his Wlyd hunt is to heal Orr and that is why he must now take your place as the main character, that and the stupid sword which in the cutscene didn’t actually do ANYTHING.
- What do they bring to the table, I mean honestly. What do they bring, they have no redeeming features (except the snare), their living story is utterly love story after love story (No No in a MMO) and serves no reason other than to make them seem like the child-like race they are meant to be.
- It makes no sense, in GW1 we had a fair few expansions and you try to lead us to believe they exsisted all that time? Yet we never encountered a single one. Yeah no, this is bad story telling 101.
- Trahearne
- Trahearne
Sorry but trahearne deserves to mentioned twice in his own sperate points dedicated to the joy of Trahearne.
I find it disturbing that people claim the Slyvari to be original despite the fact they are the least original race in the game. While Tengu are the most.
Tengu are a direct copy of a Japanese myth. They’re no more original than elves or dwarves.
If they are nearly blind, but use eyesight why are they immune to blinding? !
They don’t need to be able to see you in order to hit you. Presumably they can hear well enough to point a gun in your direction even without seeing you.
It seems unlikely than Norn spirits (especially the more esoteric spirits, like the wurm spirit) or Ranger spirits ever had any connection to the living.
An Asura might work too. I just can’t see a Charr or Norn working, except as shtick. (The idea of a flamboyant Norn brings to mind the “super hairy Wonder Woman” character in a Simpsons episode). Only good for one scene.
Necromancers (the players) are alive. You study to become a necromancer, it’s a profession. A vampire on the other hand is undead, and it’s not something you can learn.
Souls, spirits and ghosts are not necessarily the same thing. A ghost is usually the soul of a dead mortal, trapped in the mortal realm. At a stretch you could call these undead. Wraiths and shades may be souls that have returned from the underworld, but I doubt all of them are.
A spirit may be used to refer to a ghost, but it could also refer to something that was never mortal in the first place. Some of them are very similar to undead, but some spirits (e.g. Ranger spirits) are nothing like the undead.
Well if you prefer to call them all demons, then do so. Changing their name won’t change anything. A more interesting question is whether dragons come from the mists, or have any connection to the mists.
We do not see a single non-Risen undead in the game.
Except for the skeletons and zombies that serve the Mad King.
If you want to stretch the meaning of demon to anything supernatural, then anything supernatural is a demon. Ta-da!
(In the original Greek, the word Daimon, was any lesser spirit (less than a god).
I think it’s a lot less confusing if we stick to the regular English usage of demon to refer to a malign creature of infernal origin. Sylvari don’t count, since they’re not malign. And I doubt dragons are of infernal origin.
The minions may simply be repeating the name of their master that they learnt before they were corrupted. It doesn’t mean that the dragons have adopted that name.
It may be that the dragons have their own names for themselves that they haven’t chosen to share with anyone, or that they simply don’t care about names. Dragons may not even understand names.
People don’t generally name themselves. If a dragon decided it wanted a title I imagine it might choose something prosaic.
“I am Fire, I am Death.”

GW2 isn’t a vertical MMO. It’s Horizontal. With no subscription, we’re lucky to get any new content at all.
I’d be quite happy to pay for new content, either through the gem store or a box.
The system probably doesn’t remember which exact weapon you got bloodlust with.
Or are all these topics meaningless.
Why even vent? I realize, if they spent all this time making the patch they won’t reverse it. While I agree it’s a horrific update, not much can be done sadly.
If only we could enjoy gw2 like it was months ago
All I’ve seen are complaints from min-maxers, speed runners, farmers, and role players. I have some sympathy for the role players, but they’re all minority groups. So yeah, u doubt anyone important is listening.
YES! Megaserver in Orr is exactly the right thing to do! Finally Orr won’t be a ghost town anymore!
And settle down, you’ll be able to unlock the traits soon enough… its been 1 day for kittens sake
^This. For the 90% of players who weren’t in the daily temple-run clique, this is a good thing.
Now there’s actually a chance to play in Orr (and by play, I don’t mean farm the same event over and over).
Thoughts on megaserver turned into fight club pretty quickly.
Except for the first rule.
What are you planning on doing with all that gold once you get it?
Doesn’t sound you like actually playing the game, so what makes you think you’ll have more fun playing it with slightly better stats or an over the top weapon skin?
If you don’t enjoy the game for the challenge, may as well play something else.
Not sure if need to lower the dose or increase it.
There were some traits available for 5-10 points that increased speed, or gave some other ability that often made up levels much more survivable in WvW if you knew how to take advantage of it. The traits were often much more useful than the stats. For anyone below 30 it is a major nerf.
If you’re not a warrior GTFO of WvW.
Condition necro’s are a real problem. Better thieves can also be a risk. Groups with lots of CC are also a danger.
Pretty much anything else can either be killed or gotten away from. Some bunker classes can be too tough to bother with, but few can keep up with a theif.
20s on flesh golem charge (assuming it’s still alive).
Aside from diet, and leathery wings, I don’t see much similarity between imps and dragons.
Bats and pterraodons shared appearance and diet. As do sharks and dolphins, or Crocodiles and Ambulocetus.
There is an especially large tree at the Henge of Denravi skill point, which is also a place of power, and us guarded by some sort of treant. It is surrounded by druid husks. But there is no evidence of any seed pods. The area is also crawling with inquest. Who knows what they would do with a seed pod.
There is another sentient tree (the Terebenth), in the Brisbain wildlands. The Terebenth doesnt have pods either.
There may be many conscious trees in the Jungle. Who knows how many have produced Sylvari?
Technically speaking, we are don’t know for sure if that taboo exists in Tyria (I hope it does, lol)
There are genetic reasons why breeding with close relatives is undesirable. Humans have probably evolved to not breed with genetic relatives for that reason.
For Sylvari, breeding isn’t an option.
Hello Talyn
Please don’t take this the wrong way. If you are in leadership, it might not be wise to have this type of sentiment published. Casuals and pve folks make up for a huge chunk (as much as 50% – 60%). I’ve witnessed 1st hand wvw emptying out because of these type of sentiments.
FW
Let this thread be a warning to the season two winner. This will be the kinda player you will attract.
Not everyone who is ‘casual’ is a bandwagoneer. Not everyone who PVEs is a casual WvW player. Not every serious WvW player is in a big guild. The militia generally aren’t casual PVE players either, they’re usually a mix of guild players running outside core ops, and unaffiliated serious players.
I’d rather see casual uplevel noobs in WvW than some kitten who’s only in it for the skins.
If you buy a third of them you’ll be out 14g (okay, fine) and 120 skill points (WHAT???). I don’t even know how you grind that many.
I had over 400 on my Ranger, last time I checked. I’ve done a lot of grinding on that toon
Unfortunately, none of the new Ranger traits are worth buying.
(edited by Wanderer.3248)
Go to the bank, and choose the wardrobe tab. You get a full preview, including stuff that isn’t unlocked.
you could still use them for a new character while leveling.
Double clicking them does nothing; they can’t be used.
2000 gems for these tickets?
You are the customer ANet likes!
HoD seems to be the server in NA (Gandara in EU) that wins it’s league with highest certainty, and as far as I know winning is winning no matter if gold silver or bronze.
We don’t need any more bandwagoneers, please.
Have you tried re-logging? I had the same problem once after a patch, but it went away once I re-logged.
Char is too easily confused with Charr.
<Rolls eyes. >. Eve players will say that at the drop of a hat anyway. They were called toons before WoW, and they’re called toons in every other game, even in single player RPGs.The only people I see using the term “toon” are current or ex-players of WoW
In EVE-Online calling your character a “toon” will get you a standard “GTFO back to WoW” reply.
The toxic seedling events are not a faceroll, even for a fully geared 80. They spawn in several low level zones. Very few people seem to do them.
I think its more that an asexual race may not have had wide appeal to the gaming audience.
I have a respectable machine (32GB RAM, NVidia 770, i7, Win7) and I don’t run anything significant other than Chrome when playing GW2 (or any game for that matter). As of this morning EB has been crash city with my rig.
I can play about 10-15 minutes and hard lock. I can play outside of WvW without issue. The crashes occur while out roaming and in the middle of big fights… doesn’t seem to matter. It lags heavily then the game completely stops responding requiring an End Process. Reboots of my machine did not help either.
I have seen this problem a half dozen times when playing on BP over the last few months. The map becomes unstable for many players on one side usually causing them to stop playing.
These are my symptoms exactly. Different spec’s (Windows 8, 8 GB of ram, same GPU and CPU).
Most of my crashes have occurred out of combat. That doesn’t seem likely if it was a single player exploiting something. None of the crashes were in big zerg fights either, the in combat crash was cave bats.
This is not a disconnection issue. Its a near zero frame rate, followed by a lock-up of the client and/or OS. And it’s only affecting WvW.
