Christ people, you act like the end of the world just occurred. On top of that we got kitten near instant dev response to the change and can actually talk with him and you all go on temper tantrums. Way to chase the people that can help and adjust our class off.

Don’t worry not encompassing everyone in this thread there are a few constructive posters here… Lets keep that going and get things changed we need changed…

As for some good changes. Yeah regen in shroud would be absolutely amazing. We could also take a look at a push on Parasitic Contagion.

What…? What planet are you guys on, is there free healthcare there? Much of the content is locked behind mastery walls, and you need to grind to access those tiny little quirks TO EXPLORE.

I was getting around the maps just fine with barely anything unlocked and it’s only gotten easier with each new unlock. What planet are you from? Is it a distopian future that skews your view on everything?

God forbid we can’t get everything in kitten expansion in the first day like some games such as WoW. Me and my buddies hit 100 in WoD in 2 days, and by day three we where geared in full dungeon gear ((Not heroic.))

8/10 Tons of stuff to do, the Masteries are long giving me alot to work towards which is a plus.

The elite spec is really cumbersome to unlock though. Also tangled depths is one of the worst maps I have ever seen.

So I docked points on the elite not being ready to unlock and tangled depths being horrible… Other then that, having a ball.

DX11 or DX12>DX9 Engine Please!!! AMD

Shifting from DX9 to DX11 or even 12 would from my experience require an entire re-write of their rending engine since it’s a modded GW1 engine. It would in theory take a VERY long time and lots of money.

To use an example.
DX11 was released October 22, 2009
WoW a milti-million dollar MMO took over a year to get DX11 into Beta for their game as it came with the beta of Cataclysm
December 7, 2010

The one thing you need to remember here is WoW’s engine and GW2’s engines are vastly different so this comparison is shoddy at best but gives a good example of the resources and time needed to fuddle about with your games rendering engine.

Coding isn’t just flipping a switch or changing a variable to make this stuff happen it requires re-engineering possibly millions of lines of code. I can’t hope to know what GW2’s architecture looks like in engine but it’s not just something that can be wishfully thought on and have happen.

Edit: Due note I am a novice coder at best, but I understand a decent amount of it. Milage may vary in actual degrees of difficulty depending on just how amazing GW2’s coding team is and how complex their language and engine is.

What’s the DPS of a minion master? Anyone got the numbers?

Minion – Base – Vampiric – Vampiric Aura
Blood Fiend – 80 – 114 – 127
Bone Fiend – 191 – 259 – 285
Bone Minions (each) – 53(attack)/86(if summoned/blown up immediately) – 86/88 – 99/89
Flesh Wurm – 238 – 267 – 277

That’s baseline with no crits. Base 4% crit chance, 150% crit damage. They’d also get 25% from the trait, then master DPS, fury, might, etc. all add too.

Don’t forget “Rise” if it’s taken. I was playing a funky clerics MM in BW3 that could consistently keep 20+ minions up, that damage, vampiric and lifesteal add up including supliment damage from the MM himself. It’s certainly no icebow/staff ele but it’s ALOT of incoming damage.

Skyhammer hate?

Skyhammer favors rather sketchy yank and push builds to hold down positions and some classes only have so much defense against those before it’s easy to take a cheesy death.

Along with that a good yank/pull bunker can hold hammer and completely imbalance the match for the other team. Along with the fact the portal-gate to hammer can be capped really hard with no way to dodge through some incoming fields. I know my MM has more then a few times blasted someone to oblivion seconds after they’ve gotten through the gate. It’s a really unfair chokepoint with no proper way to get through without eating damage from someone paying attention.

The difference between Khylo and Hammer is the treb takes time to aim and skill to fire accurately. The hammer is point and click and can insta-win the game for your team if you get at least a half braindead monkey on it.

My clerics MM in PVP can keep around 17 of the little buggers up at one time. Add in bone minions, flesh golem, bone fiend, blood fiend and jaggad horror procs from both the death nova trait and runes of the lich and I have at some points had 21 to 26 minions up at one time. Past then even transfusion and sigil of water procs can’t keep that many going, but god forbid anything gets in my way. It might be all chip damage, but it’s a TON of chip damage… I can melt some vets in 2 to 5 seconds when the entire army gets on them.

Reaper is OP

The reaper is built to take on multiple foes. For instance, his shouts hit multiple enemies and the effects of said shouts are increased for each enemy hit. Alot of his attacks are cleaving and AoE he’s built to go up against groups. So if you saw him going 4v1 and winning that was him, doing his thing. Your team should have broken off and went for objectives instead of battling the AoE teamfight monster that is reaper.

Maybe at a very slow rate, promoting a defense and possible push back once your most inner door is down. At the moment it’s simply bumrush once the inner gate is down, chip damage the boss and you WILL win the match. This is of course unless the enemy team has a healer to babysit the boss.

I Support Moa Against MM's

I can’tell really think of any point in PvE where Moa morph is used at all on players. We also don’the see any minion master enemies.

All transforms kill minions. This not only means Lich/Plague (pre change), and Moa, but also any of the transforms that are used in PvE to do various things to the player. The problem there is Necromancer minions are uniquely mobile with no duration, meaning a transformed Necromancer that is meant to not be able to attack at all can have a swarm of minions that deal with mobs for them.

However, now that they can make exceptions Moa should just be included alongside Plague/Lich, and leave the PvE issues to PvE.

yeah I understand all that, I thought the person I was quoting was saying moa had presence in PvE, which it doesn’t as far as I’m aware.

Robert said they wanted to discuss changing moa to not kill minions because it affected other classes. However this interaction only impacts engineers/mesmers fighting minion master necromancers in a PvP environment. In it’s current state, it simply has too strong an impact on the minion master necromancer.

Where was this discussed. Not that I don’t believe you, I just want to see it with my own two eyes since the devs clearly had MM in mind with the lich/plague change but completely ignored the zero counterplay Moa gives against a MM.

You do know how an API key works right? You know it’s somthing Anet created and freely gives out to players who request it so stats can be tracked through apps an in programs. It has nothing to do with your account and or log-in information.

There are so many other game breaking bugs in this game that are actually acknowledged as game breaking bugs. Show me anywhere where Anet said centaur runes should never work with an infinite tonic and I’ll change my opinion.

Tonics: Fixed a bug that would allow leaving a tonic transform to trigger the effects of traits and runes that worked from heal use.

On future reference Anet usually doesn’t announce known bugs cause they don’t want people /exploiting/ said known bugs. =P

With 12 seconds of instant stability on a 40 second cooldown from a trait we will see more stance warriors who you can never CC. The rotation of stability will be trait, then Balanced Stance, then rampage, then trait then Balanced stance and by that point everyone looses. Its a trait that requires no skill and therefore deserves a high cooldown.

My necro WISHES it had this much stability….

In Spvp a MM is already, 90% of the time taking Consume Conditions. This drops us to four minion utilities. Golem, Minions, Bone and either worm or shadow. Sacrificing any more minions makes taking the entire Death line pointless. MM is generally all or nothing. You need those minions to even have any hope of being effective. YOu’re not gonna take plague over golem and you MIGHT take lich for the 5 horrors but that’s it. This change does little for most MM’s. We need to adjust Moa’s instant kill. Hell I’m fine with it desummoning minions till the moa duration is over. Fine need a bit more, kill them, then auto-refresh the utility cooldown this still has me speanding upwards of twelve seconds resummoning my minions. No other class in the game has to deal with their support pets vanishing and being put on full cooldown without even their death effects activating. Hell a turret engi can still pick up his kitten ed turrets while moa’ed.

I want to quickly clarify something about this note. The change is that specifically Plague form and Lich form will not destroy your minions. We can’t do this universally for all transforms because it can cause problems with the balance of events or story steps that transform you.

Rob we don’t need this to work for story steps and open world we need to not have our chosen spec 100% shut down because of an engi or mesmer moa. No other class in the game gets to throw every utility on a bar on cooldown with a single ability.

MM does indeed require skill. You need to manage your livelyhood ((Your minions)) because if those little buggers go down you better hope to god the enemy team doesn’t notice. And any good Minion Master worth their salt uses those minions AND their abilities. An afk MM is easy noob bait for soemone running up to a point but if that MM doesn’t use his skills effectively against a skilled opponent that’s a dead MM.

Contrary to popular belief a MM is using quite a few minion abilities, they are not simply sitting on his hotbar. But in that same sense we could look at anyone using a full signetbuild as piggybacking off the passives, sure they don’t go into a fight with disposable pets and you may at times burn these signets. But they are still letting an ability sit passively on their bars and reaping the benefits.

Now it may be late, but I can’t off the top of my head think of an instant and automatic hardcounter/shutdown for any other class combo. Though I am sure if there is I will be corrected. MM to my knowledge was the only one that had two separate classes instantly shut him/her down and take them out of the fight for an extended period of time.

Lastly, do remember this was a bug that has been ingame since launch it was not a proper gameplay mechanic. Anything that transformed you would break your minions period, even tonics, hell the jumping pads at Tequatle break your minions. To a varying degree the mesmers clones rezzing hostile downstates would have been amazing to keep and completely broken against the mesmer, much like instantly popping an entire spec with a single ability was completely broken and is now being fixed.

Hey all, turning to the ele forums to ask a question about builds. Now I have a friend ingame, she very much enjoys playing support and has no real interest in PVP she likes to tag along with us and heal us as well as pop boons and such on us. We know it won’t be using ele to it’s full power, but I want to make a build that really accents the support role for her so she has alot of fun healing my and my other companions minions with our minion master build

So if anyone can assist me on a build I would be eternally grateful.

It’s really refreshing to see that, even the devs can make mistakes and that they can be humble about it. Blizzard for instance lashes out at their players when they don’t like something. Bravo for taking the highground with this one, plenty of respect re-earned guys. =D

My improvements would be simple.

I would enjoy a bit of variation, this feels like the Scarlet Invasion with a few extra mechanics tacked on… This is supposed to be the HoT pre-release event guys you’re supposed to blow us away and suck the new/free players in. Adjust the system, add a zone boss goal… The idea is that Mordremoth diverts forces to the event when enough damage has been delivered to his invasion through the blooms, then give us a nice, mechanically driven superboss much like marionette was. No it doesn’t have to be a lane event like vinewrath and such but something along the scale.

Speaking of scale… Players want to feel rewarded for their time spent, I understand you want to divert farming by making the rewards the end goal, the buff is an awesome start to this. But so long as you control the farm-a-bility then you control the players. Scarlet was a mess because the portals would continue to spawn champs if you didn’t destroy them, this lead to people not completing the event but farming easy champs. Give us controlled champs and lead the players too them. And end goal that’s worth it will be the key to keeping the farm down, that and champ control but allow those champs to drop loot as we go along let us feel rewarded through the entire event.

I think everyone remembers how amazing and epic the assault on LA was, minor objectives leading into three minibosses and then the final battle! That was Scarlet, she was just a minion making a single, refined attack against the city of LA this is an invasion by a hostile force, something that should terrorize Tyria and really scare the people into the serious threat mordy poses!

You guys have done it before and you can do it again I know you can make a kitten event that blows players minds… Just put your heads into the game next time around.

You finally fixed minions, it did take around 3 years but they’re finally working, they still have a hiccup here or there but what good necromancer doesn’t have a few hiccups when not using basic undead.

MM is my all time favorite spec in Gw2 I am a religious D&D player and my main character is always a wizard-based necromancer, legions of the undead under my command are my forte and this translates to Gw2… For a while I fell from my unholy throne of undead and played condi because I was so fed up with minion AI but now, my little undead slaughter machines are working once more, my command is obeyed and my enemies fall at my feet. Thank you guys, it took a while but it was worth it!

P.S now can we fiddle with Mesmer and Engi insta popping my undead legions with transforms? =D

It’s accurate for the people using Raptr, and that’s also a large number of AMD card users since raptr comes bundled with CCC. It may not be a wide, accurate measurement. But a large drop in players on somthing small like raptr is still a drop in players, even if more are being funneled in elseware such as with HoT hype =P Either way take it at a low margin.

Stealth counter? Common sense and AoE. This coming from a Necro main. You wouldn’t believe how many times i’ve had a thief open up only to take shroud fear, staff 5, 2 1. Weapon swap to dagger 3 root, golem charge, bone minion pop and bone fiend root. That my friends is a very dead thief. If he happens to make it into stealth after that then it’s a simple shroud 5+4 for the channeled torment then root and the transfusion channel.

If the pre-purchase price was “Fine” The forums and reddit wouldn’t be on fire. Even a few people agitated could support the OP’s claim of “Fine” but this is a full blown rebellion.

On the case of P2P WoW is afloat simply because it was one of the first out there and it has a fanbase but the 2.9 subs they just lost proves that even they aren’t infallible.

P2P is on the way out it’s a dying breed kept alive solely by WoW and a few other, choice games. Other MMO’s are thriving on the F2P and B2P scene and Arenanets Q1 reports prove they are as well. The price tag is high, players don’t like it, it’s that simple and it’s why we’re at this point.

At what we have now content wise? I’d happily put 30 to 35 USD into the game. A middle ground between launch price and what we’re getting compared to the base game.

On top of that, as I have been doing ill keep forking money over for gems, since you know they have a gem store that also makes them money.

I guess this is why there are smart money wise people in this world who have assets and worth, while others blow money frivolously on anything shiny and live pay check to paycheck. xD

“Hey bud, buy this car! it looks cool, we aren’t sure if it runs well and we can’t show you everything or even let you try it till after you pay for it, but take our word for it, you’ll love it. "

Slightly, it’s more along the lines of "Hey you bought this epic car right, got some great use out of it, took it in for free tune ups and such, then bought some extra things for it.

Now we’re coming out with this really cool decal pack, it’s nearly the same as the car was at purchase but it’s worth it, the flames make it go faster!

A bit of a convoluted explanation yes, but it basically sums the situation.

No Geneaux I wish to make sure i’m getting value for my money. The game isn’t dying the Gemstore has been keeping it quite happily afloat, take a lok at the Q1:15 earnings GW2 is making money. So it’s not like Arenanet requires a donation to keep the game living.

But right now we have a FRACTION of the content GW2 had at launch and only $10 off the base game, this is a problem. Where is that extra cost and value being factored in. It made sense at release for the game cause we where getting a TON of stuff a new world already fleshed out to explore.

We don’t know WHAT we’re fully getting so far ALOT of this content will be coming out before launch even and at the moment 50 USD is not worth the price of the content we know we are getting…

So lets do some simple math here.
If they aren’t struggling for cash and are actually making money through the game, even before the expansion drops.
And we the players are being asked to dump what is essentially 10 usd off the launch price for the main game.

Why does this cost nearly the same as the launch price for a fraction of the orignal content for the game? Are they attempting to cash in on us? Is it simple greed or are they delusional enough that
GW2 is worth the same, content wise as HoT

Understand this and you understand why the playerbase is ticked and confused EVEN MORE SO the vet players.

And EVERYONE in this thread has forgotten about the gem-store content which aids in keeping the game afloat. They are not a wallowing fish slowly dying off and this expansion will breathe new life. Look at 2015’s Q1 they are MAKING money past development costs, this money isn’t magically spawning somewhere they’ve made it threw the gemstore. This expansion isn’t the magical life-giving bullet Anet needs to keep from drowning, they have water wings and a life jacket through the gemstore and so far they’ve been floating quite well,

I’ve got to get this off my chest.

-How can some of you look people in the eye and claim Arenanet is not giving you a whole lot of content(HoT specifically) when you haven’t played or experienced everything(and I mean EVERYTHING) that is this expansion offers, hmm? Do any of you have access to some leaked version of the full expansion or w/e? Enough with assumptions and back seat game development. You don’t work for Anet.
-The base expansion is $50. Ok, cool. Historically, most MMO expansions have been about $40-60. So how is this a problem? It’s because people keep equating whatever “value” the game has with games that aren’t even in the same genre: ie every game that doesn’t require an internet connection. They just don’t say it(probably because they dot understand the meaning of their words). Those games(usually) don’t ask for this level of pricing because they don’t have to continue developing content for it. People can continue to play those games well after the publisher and devs have moved on to other projects. MMOs(and MOBAs) don’t get this luxury.
-Yet naive individuals here will procrastinate on the “value” of the prices. There is no “value”. That’s a subjective emotion you make up for yourself to justify your purchase. And there’s nothing wrong with that. However, it holds not one kitten ounce of meaning as far as the quality of the expansion goes. We have reviews/reviewers for that.

The price of reason is steep.

At least we can still all agree that the real only valid argument here is that the standard edition does not come with a free character slot. As it should, at the minimum for people who bought the game very recently.

Dude, you do realize by your own vocation that’s like someone showing you half of something behind their back and saying “50 bucks and it’s yours” Well can I see the rest of what i’m buying that’s a lot of money to be investing in a few things here and there, can I see if it’s broken, scratched up, can I at least see the details on the item i’m buying?"

So far we know we’re getting two large maps, guild halls and a bunch of gamechanges KEEP IN MIND these changes will not come with HoT but actually be released before hand into the main game.

And yes we do have reviewers for the expansion when it comes out.
“But if you want all those shiny bonuses and stuff we off, throw your lot in with us now, commit and hope it’s what you’re after!”

So in retrospec 2 maps, a class and guild halls ((Which I believe might actually be coming base game as well))

for $50 USD take a step back and re-read what you said and what I have clarified on.
