The issue is not the price of a game, it’s the price of an expansion. Does this game have the exact same amount of content as GW2 did at launch? If so absolutely $50 is a steal compared to GW2’s $59.99 at launch. If not an expansion should not be full priced and from what i’ve heard we are getting two zones albeit LARGE zones but nowhere near as big as GW2’s map at launch and most of the features are coming in a free content pack before HoT release. $50 is ALOT for what little we’ve heard about the expansion and plain and simple I want substance for my money.

What if I already have core, can I get the expansion cheaper? Or perhaps pass the “Comes with GW2” game to a friend?

World of Warcrafts $15 sub AND cash-shop would like to have a word with the complaining going on here.

Hell you’re paying 15 bucks a month and the mini pets from WoW’s cash shop are still $10 each, for one pet.

I advocate them working even more outfits and clothing options into the gemstore. I would rather see the game flourish through gemstore sales then sink and I for one have never had a problem getting enough gems ingame to keep me from getting anything I wanted on the gemstore.

You played with this gear in the current patch/expansion which means you got your use out of it, get over it you’ll live.

A check box would be nice, it has saved me a few times in the past, accidently clicking one of the exotics from my off set.

This system is way better then throwing a name on a mailing list imho at least I get rewarded for playing the game and people who invest alot of time ingame ((You know the ones that SHOULD be beta testing)) will eventually get their keys.

Odd I was able to do it just fine a couple months back, I have my full lumi set.

The Norn are giants, don’t cite the race as bad because everyone shrinks them down to slightly taller humans. They’re supposed to be 8 to 9+ feet tall and are hulking warriors. Hell it’s even stated lorewise that a single Norn can go toe to toe with a Charr warband. They are not just “Big humans”

Secondly the dragons are not elementals they have domains that border on things such as elements but Zhaitan and Kralkatoric both fall out of the “Elemental” based theory on the Elder Dragons.

Zhiatan is the Elder dragon of the dead and undeath he’s not “Darkness”

we have no “Fire Dragon” The closest is Primordus and he is a mingling of fire and earth more like a Lava based dragon then anything else.

Kralkatoric is Crystals

Mordremoth is focused on jungles not nature as a whole he borderlines it with corruption but it’s more simply where he lives.

As for Jormag he definitively falls in with Ice but Ice is only a state of a single element when was the last time you heard someone state one of the four elements as Ice.

Of course this is all conjecture but the dragons themselves have ties, but not direct to some elements… Zhaitan and Kralk are still my case and points for these.

Honestly, if anything the dragons focus more on regions of Tyria. The Oceans, the Shiverpeaks, the Maguma Jungles, the barren area of Ascolon the long dead island of Orr and that unamed place the Asura come from way underground.

I’ve done the same thing, i’ve memorized several spots and there doesn’t always need to be a mound to find a chest, the spot can sometimes be “ripe” without a mound.

The needs of the many, outweigh the needs of the few… Live long and prosper.

OK, I cannot (nor will I speak on player feelings/thoughts regarding the attractiveness of Charr). its just not my thing, but to each their own I guess.

What I WILL speak on however are Charr, their lore and their society and how we as both players and non-Charr should not try to project our non-Charr-ness on them.

Charr are not human (obviously) and to that end do not have the same courting rituals that we do. I’m sure just as we recognize how Baboons court and mate, as humans we just don’t DO that ourselves. Our bottoms are not bright red, nor do they swell, etc. same goes for things like ostriches that perform a fairly ridiculous looking “dance” to attract mates. We see it, can recognize it for what it is, but won’t ever do it ourselves since that isn’t how we roll. We go for the nice outfits and body accentuating dress styles because that is our primary way of attracting mates, followed by bad jokes and awkward conversation. We are a highly social group with nuanced and highly varied views on life, politics, religion, etc.

Charr are not human. Charr are tribal and combative, even among themselves with small units that become like families. They are militaristic and even hand their children over to be raised by others. From a clothing aspect they tend to wear the same thing across genders as their clothes are not used to define them, or rather their gender isn’t as important as their function to the unit. From a mating standpoint I’d wager the suitability of a mate comes down to: Will this mate help make strong offspring to be proud of, can this mate be trusted, some healthy does of pheromones during “mating season”. Perhaps certain things about appearance may come into play, but the appear things might be length of tail or horns and not whether the mate looks good in a corset. “Sexy” outfits for Charr such as the one in the OP,I would think, would give most Charr a hearty laugh as they sat around in the Black Citadel while the one modeling the outfit pranced around making fun of humans and their need for such dresses. I just can’t imagine a Charr ever seriously wearing an outfit like that intentionally, nor any outfit like it.

You make some good and valid points, though I would like to turn my case towards Rox and Braham who have been incredibly close though the whole of living world season 2. Both of them give off heavy vibes of close companionship even going so far as to be concerned with each other far more then the rest of destiny’s edge 2.0 Rox even gave up her chance at a higher Warband status simply to fix Braham’s broken leg during the battle with Scarlet, securing the kill for the main PC over herself and her chance at Rytloks warband.

During the Maze even in the living story she actually expresses worry over Braham not even mentioning the rest of the group once you’ve found her.

She clearly has a deeper connection to him then the rest of the group and Braham’s dialog mirrors this just not nearly as heavily.

This of course can all be conjecture and a possible “Reading too deep into it.” But it also carries the proof that between sentient species in Tyria Biology may not play such a heavy role in choosing a love interest.

Alright so on a more serious note. I can understand full well why a Charr female may want to be “Seductive”. I’ve been in and out of RP communities for nearly nine years, starting in WoW and branching all over games and forms of media.

Just off the top of my head there’s nearly a half dozen scenarios why this makes sense.

Perhaps she’s attempting to attract a male Charr who seems to have a taste for humans. It was heavily implied that, back during the Ascolonian war Charr soldiers not only ate humans but would…. “Make use” of prisoners. While not in black and white ((Anywhere I could find at least)) it has been implied. So it’s not too far fetched that a Charr male, may at one point have an attraction to human females.

So perhaps this female Charr is attempting to seduce a male from a powerful warband who has an attraction to female humans… What better way then to emulate it within your own race, she may be on a misguided attempt to take what "She " finds alluring about human females.

Perhaps, in the same sense she is trying to attract a human.

Another scenario… Whilst fighting in the Mists she came across a human warrior. While not that odd, perhaps IC this human warrior took down three other combatants at once, including another Charr. The Charr value strength in their militaristic society… Well kitten, what’s hotter then that battle hardened soldier that just took down one of your own kind plus two other’s… He’s gotta look like a kitten stud.

You gotta remember, just because a society needs to act one way, does not mean every single member, like robots off an assembly line need to act in the same manner.

Lets use Drizzit from the D&D forgotten realms series as an example.

The drow themselves within D&D are murderous, xenophobic ((In the sense they hate all other races and believe they are inferior to Drow.)) race.

Drizzit on the other hand completely counters the Drow’s murderous, backstabbing society, completely going against their culture.

“Drizzt is a drow who acts against the drow stereotype, favoring friendship and peace over hatred and violence.”

At the end of the day you need to remember, different strokes for different folks. And in a fantasy setting such as Tyria, the game is built around interesting, complex story. The OP looks to break the mold most Charr have, hop off that assembly line and forge their own bit of story perhaps with a quirk or two, here and there. It’s all about that characters development.

I do hope this long TL:DR post might sway or even open the minds of a few people that may not have understood this concept. Remember there’s nothing to hate about here, we are all part of the same community. Be it PVP’er RP’er PVE’er and all mixing of those three.

To those who think no apology is necessary, you are simply wrong. This type of black humor has no place here. The dev’s made a mistake and they need to acknowledge it. Not seeing the OP’s massive amount of vulgarity, I rarely see it at all and I usually AFK in DR one of the most bustling towns ingame. the ONLY time I ever happen to see even a bit of vulgarity is in PVP during a losing match and even then those are short supernova bursts.

As a necromancer I have little issues with thieves. I probe their stealth with marks if i see one trigger I drop what is essentially the bomb on them…

I think Vine will still have a place. We still do teq and worm. Even shatter and shadow behemoth are done on regular basis. This boss is very engaging, has a good loot haul and is entertaining to say the least, I doubt we’ll see vinewrath dead any time soon.

All great encounters….unfortunately, 2/3 of those are unavailable to players…such a shame

Well WoodenPotatos made a REALLY good point, see Anet’s projected earnings are high for june and July, so it’s assumed that might be when we’re getting the “Potential” expansion. So he basicly said. “We need things to do in the mean time, which is perfect for the next segment of SAB” Now none of this is set in stone of course, but it’s to be assumed that they’ve been working on this for months and probably have alot of it polished off I doubt we’ll be seeing a four + month break so we’re going to get a bit of content in the meantime.

Then bravo to the entire team. You guys are getting better and better at these bosses, shifting them from damage sponges to actual, interesting encounters. I have enjoyed kitten near every boss from season 2 both hard and easy and while Vinewrath himself may be a tad on the easy side of them I feel that the encounter is amazingly fun and because of that it makes up for a slight downscale in difficulty. I will happily take an easy, interesting both like Vinewrath or

The shadow of the dragon from this most recent patch then something that lacks creativity and is incredibly difficult. It’s been a good balance of accomplishment and enjoyment. You can’t sit there, nod off and take a boss down near AFK and at the same time the bosses aren’t in your face, ungodly hard. It accents the story while not depriving you of it.

First and foremost this is entirely under the assumption the guy they hired to work on raid content has been playing around with the new bosses.

So after doing the final boss for this chapter and the last few bosses as well as vinewrath in the silverwastes + Breech bosses, anyone thinking Anet’s new raid designer they hired is really starting to hit the mark? I know hopping into a position like that would force you to learn a new game all it’s mechanics and the inner workings…

But He really seems to be making kitten ed good bosses. This is to assume he’s been working on this content, but if you look, there is a huge difference between something like “The Shatterer” And vinewrath.

Anyone else thinking the same? Also if we could get a red post on if this actually is their new raid designers work or if the usual boss team just decided to randomly step up their game all of a sudden.

Hey all, the digital deluxe edition is currently on sale at 1000 gems off the gem store, half price and i’m pondering getting it. I have 1200 gems on me, right now and am simply looking for some input on other peoples thoughts. I like the idea of the account upgrade andw ince it gives you a 700 gem armor set ((From the heroic edition)) it seems barely paying anything at all, though i’m not a fan of the armors, it has it’s value.

My solution has always been to let them sit there. If we’re overwhelmed in a fight we’ve clearly lost I would rather not give them said fight, let them sit there and do ABSOLUTELY nothing with their towers, go off someplace else and prepare for next weeks match up, then FORCE them to do the same by not giving them anything to do in WvW

Yep saw her backstab coming ten miles away. I was like “Really? You’re the only member of Destiny’s edge that want’s to come and help… Really now?” The second she said so Iw as like “Nope you sit your kitten down and let me and my group handle it.” But saddly, the story forced her on us.

Overtuned? OP you are out of your mind. The fight was easy and quite interesting. One shotted it on my first playthrough with a buddy and solo redux first try last night. It’s literally 2 attacks with massive tells and simply "Pick up shield, break crystal.

I’m gotten my condi’s to tick for a total. ((Counting poison and torment)) at around 3.5 to 4k a tick. 5k seems a tad unrealistic.

Hey all, i’m looking for some input on my conditionmancer’s sigil set up for my weapons.

Currently i’m using.

Staff: Torment+Corruption
Sceptre/Dagger: Earth+Agony

I’m curious about putting Torment on my Scepter instead, more condition coverage, an AoE torment and swifter attack speed = more procs and better damage during heavy PVE bosses

My build here is for WvW and PVE interchanging

Anyone have any other suggestions?

Took me less then 3 minutes to download the patch if your on the east coast, call up your ISP and yell at them, they provide abysmal uploads and download speeds through most of the east coast ISP’s

This new system needs to be adjusted. Great awesome amazing make the gem store accessible for the newbies, totally okay with this. Give us vets a button to use the old system. The code already exists, just add it to the massive box of free space for the menu buttons on the trading post.

In the most recent ready up the Necromancer was supposed to get a buff to both staff’s 1 projectile and dagger 2’s life drain. The dev in the stream stated they would be out with the Halloween patch. Though I haven’t seen the changes in the patch notes, nor in game. Is there some dev info someplace I missed stating it got pushed back? I was overly excited for the staff projectile speed increase.

Wow this topic blew up. And a TON of interesting information. I am pondering the simple, amalgamation route for his first minion. Since most minions are flesh-stitched and not actually re-animated. I noticed a post, higher up mention a good hook for it, where my Necromancer is attempting to re-create true power, the Elder Dragons being a symbol for that… It also fits really well since he is obsessed with creating the most powerful minion he can, constantly studying other races anatomy for strengths and weaknesses. So a failed, flesh-stitched dragon which he has a slight attachment too, or perhaps what started him on this little quest of his might fall into place REALLY well.

Didn’t she cloak the entirety of Ebonhawk behind an illusion in edge of destiny? I could very well be mistaken though.
