I have had some of the BEST fights I’ve had in two years tonight. The Q’s haven’t been a problem on Tarnished Coast, took about twenty to thirty minutes. So I went out and farmed up my daily flax and such in Maguuma, only half way through my route and I got in.

I’ve seen TONS of cooperation, vets helping newbs and zergs mingled with both types of players. I’ve gotten destroyed in some zergs and, had some even, ten minute back and forth struggles and had some fights were we rolled them.

So far just the population increase this has created has been a massive boon to the gamemode. I hope you guys in the dev department have ideas to keep the ball rolling, but I’m hoping this keeps the high-pop fights rolling.

Minion stats

minions when used in minion master builds are strong enough.

On another note 15 minion masters with 5-6 each (more if they have Rise!) in wvw=75-90 (over 100) minions that have high imunity to aoe dmg, transfer conditions and steal life.

now imagine if they all go full zerker and somehow power scales up all those minions raw dmg that ticks 1-4k per minion attack…yeah..

Minions do not get AoE resistance in PVP. WvW = PVP minions get cleaved down in seconds in WvW

The new Swamp [Merged]

Came here hoping for some guidance. Was just pugging a Tier 4 and after 7 wipes the group disbanded.

It felt like we were missing a vital mechanic. We kept moving in a circle to gain the wisp buff but we never got him below 90%. Staying alive wasn’t incredibly hard for the most part except when he had a few invisible (on our screens at least) attacks.

We’d be fighting and then … 3 of us would be insta downed. We’d quickly rally and rez and keep moving til it happened again. He also does this charge that doesn’t have an ‘end’ tell. So we dodge when he’s close, but he HUGE so we’d still be in his hitbox.

The section with adds didn’t make a whole lot of sense. He was invulnerable but the adds were trash, but killing them did nothing. Then a champ oakheart spawned among the adds and it would go invulnerable at times too …

Hints? Pointers?

Gotta drag adds and champ into the green.

Anyone have an issue with their Bandit Death Mark vanishing after they opened the mail? It never showed up in my inventory after claiming the item, I still have the mail and no mark.

If anyone might have any information on where the dang thing might have gone I would be eternally grateful.

Percent-based trivializes attempting to stop the enemy team, if they get it below 50% before you get there, they get it no matter what, no counter play. And I know quite a few classes that can burn it to 50% quite fast.

Poaching a beasts is a gameplay tactic that requires timing, CC and prediction on your part against what the enemy might do in response to your attempt to take the beast.

Percent based just means who’s been there hitting it longer.

Matriarch has a mechanic. CC her break bar when she tries to fly up. When you knock her down she doesn’t get a flight phase and since her bar is broken she takes a debuff for several seconds where she takes, like 300% incoming damage. That’s how you kill the boss. Your map scaled it and then didn’t CC this is a group of bad players not an unbalanced boss. They refused to play into one of her mechanics.

Verdant Brink is also an “Anti-zerg” map, if you zerg during the nightphase you lose bases and will not get your map rewards up.

We got class balance issues.
Temp PVP players having a poor time, getting the stuff they need for legendary (Backpack) and backing out.
People who rushed hard to legendary and higher tiers where no one else is at the moment.
High teir players cycling back through the leagues on low-tier accounts making it a nightmare to raise division range.

And the million dollar one. 50/50 win rate. Remember all those people charging through the forums parading their “If you’re at a 50/50 win rate that’s where you should be, leagues aren’t a reward track!”

Well this is what happens when people settle in their divisions and can’t/don’t/won’t move their way up in tiers. There just aren’t enough (High Tier) players to support higher tier divisions. The legendary backpack was a great motivator, till people started finishing it.

Ones big damage, the other is slightly less damage with a ton of utility behind it.

WoS gives us vul on the hostiles and a dark-field for allies.
Traited we also get oncall protection for allies and siphons for myself.
Unblockable
Ground Targeted

Compared to, big damage and fury… That’s it. And don’t forget you cast it at your feet, not at 900 range.

Assuming your enemies have half a brain cell and get out of both you leave a far more lasting effect with WoS. Vulnerability, a leftover dark field to spin in and protection on your allies.

Really not seeing the OP’s issue.

I can confirm this. Silverwastes never gave me too much issue, but lately I was having a rythmic chopping where it would lag every three or so seconds. Asked in a TML silverwastes map and someone suggested it, it was a night and day difference.

There is now an official statement. In short: Everything the “anti afk farming” people have said is correct, and everything the “but I was just using game mechanics that ANet provided” people said was wrong. Do afk farming and you will get suspended when caught. And if you still keep doing it, worse things are likely to happen.

Hey look broken MMR

Just cause you lose doesn’t mean it’s bad MMR. Now when you lose 20 to 500 that’s bad MMR. From what I could see from your horridly low-rez picture ((Had to CTRL + around 10 times to bring it up large enough to make out the blurry numbers.))

Most of your matches came kitten close to a win for you. That’s not bad matchmaking that’s being outplayed. You went in, both got really close to a win and the other team squeaked it by. Good matchmaking doesn’t mean 100% win ratio.

Honestly you just have bad luck, some of those matches couldn’t get much closer.

crafting > Improvments please

Ok so its nice we can all make a new lvl 80, its nice we have new content.

BUT, we all need to craft the new items, and this may require multi crafting disciplines…
Which means we have to grind, now everyone, absolutely everyone googles “huntsman crafting guide” then either farms all the mats, or more likely farms gold and buys mats off a guide and follows a guide to hit lvl 400 for requirement to craft fun/ decent things. This boring pointless nonsense takes hours.

So to recap, instead of me doing daily’s and the other 100s of fun things, im forced to spend hours, wasting my time.

- Google a guide
- buy mats
- waste a heap of time
= aquire lvl 400

This is such a rubbish way to go about things! and kind of soul destroying, my char has been at the crafting table for a week, as i cant bring my self to login as i know im just going to mindlessly follow a guide for a few hours. I really dont want to play, but i need the 400 really to proceed in PVE.

Cant there be a better way, im sure new players hate this right of passage!

Ill save the forums the balance QQ. I wanted to say bravo to the dev team for some precision on the nerfs to rev and mes. Despite my absolute detest for these two classes (Necro main since launch) I am glad the team decided to shave and not sledge their knee-caps out from under them. Hopefully we see some more shaves in general to all classes, all around. I would prefer slow little balance tweaks to everything, all around moving into the next season.

Reaper Minion Guide?

Full zerk. You have the bonus of being one of the most survivable classes in the game when running minions. The little buggers constantly pump HP into you with lifesteal and give extra, passive toughness, this isn’t even considering the 50% damage reduction from rise. So why not supplement a second HP bar and all these perks with the highest damaging set in the game.

Weapons:
I prefer axe-dagger, dagger-warhorn

Dagger gives you a passive and permanent 25% run speed with quickening thirst (Blood Magic). Axe is your ranged contingent while also applying Vulnerability for EXTRA MINION DAMAGE! Dagger being your main, up-close damage alternative.

Build:
I run
Death Magic 1,1,1 of course pump those minions.

Blood magic 2,3,3 The first tier doesn’t do much so quickening thirst is your go to. Vampiric aura is nice when allies are around… I’m not sure if it works on minions or not (Needs to be tested, or informed by someone with more knowledge then I)… A decent alternative is 1 to heal allies when dropping shroud. Lastly taking transfusion for amazing minion and ally healing in a group fight…

Reaper 1,3,3 This ones a tricky tree, we don’t get a TON out of this for minions but my god do we want “Rise”. You want to take quicker shout cooldown for “Rise!”. Decimate defense works well with Axe 1 giving you extra crit, and the last tier is sketchy I usually take Reaper’s onslaught since it’s faster attacks in shroud and there are some fights even amazing minion siphons can’t save you from so tanking in reaper works well.

For minions, take blood fiend, “Rise!”, bone minions, shadowfiend and good ole fleshie.
I haven’t been bothered to check minion DPS in a long while, but Bone Minions and Shadow pulled slightly ahead of Bone Fiend in combat (According to old charts on the necro forums.)… Bone Fiend has the bonus of being able to attack from range but on a long boss fight Shadow fiend attacks faster and his more damage in the long run. Worm is amazing as well, but I dislike the constant upkeep of summoning him in every fight, try him out mileage may vary.

Running Pack runes on my necro, when I take a hit my minions have a chance to get fury might and swiftness. I’ve had good mileage with lich runes, even if they aren’t super damage oriented more jagged horrors and in turn more toughness is NEVER a bad thing in our line of work.

With this setup I can pump out lots and lost of damage while always being the last one to fall in 5 man content. I can solo hold a Cliffside fractal arm myself easily up to level 70 ((Haven’t tested past that.)) and in hot content I’m basically a killing machine god as I jump from event to event, soloing camps and taking down champs solo.

Bonus tips.
Rise minions explode for ALOT on death and you can time it too if you watch your rise cooldown. Smacking 5 targets with rise will leave your Shamblings exploding at about the 2 to 7 second mark on Rise’s cooldown. (They also add toughness PER Shambling Horror up!)

An alternative to Fleshie is Lich 4, summoning 5 Jagged Horrors… This doesn’t provide a ton of synergy but it’s fun as hell, we’re not bleed oriented and Lich has a massive cooldown unless you’ve specced into spectral skills for a reduced cooldown. To do this you’d need to sacrifice either Reaper line, denying you rise, or Blood Magic, denying you that amazing minion passive healing. Still a blast to use and some fractals and dungeons promote this.

Flesh golom absolutely molests break bars. (When Charging)

Flesh Golem has high toughness and will draw aggro in some cases, this can be bad for some bosses, for instance in the dredge fractal, this is a good time to swap lich for that.

This is the extent of my knowledge and build. I’m sure others partaking in our craft can add some of their own info or even correct my own if I’ve made a mistake. But for the moment, I hope this aids you in your quest to conquer Tyria with hoards of undead.

Premade vs non premade….is it fair?

It seems to be quite fair with a small advantage for the solo players, because according to anet the win rate of five solo players is above 50% against five-person premades.

Only 1% of all Ranked matches played in season one were a full five-person premade group vs. a group of five solo players, and even then, the win rate for those five solo player teams in those cases was consistently at or above 50% throughout the entire season.

Well clearly some one is lying, all my matches go like the screen shots I posted…..premade win non premade lose and most of the time by a land slide.

Yeah it never struck me as making logistical sense. A premade can, by leaps and bounds coordinate better. Just the off chance they have coms skews the match so far in their favor it makes my head spin.

You win some and lose some…if you truely deserve there you will end up in legendary.

That statement doesn’t work in a 5v5 game where you need to rely on 4 other people to be competent enough to not throw the match due to horrid rotation, feeding or just being unable to survive in any capacity when a fight rolls their way.

Duo Q’ing gives you a much, much better shot… Three manning and you have a high chance. But if your solo Q’ing and being put in with morons there’s nothing you can do so when someone says they “Deserve” or don’t it’s a poor concept in a team-based game.

Revenant is a package deal. You need to remember they have a ton of offensive support, intense boon spam and a full toolbox of defensives that, when managed correctly make it a nightmare to fight in both teamfights and solo. Fight a good rev that knows how to manage it’s cooldowns and resources properly and knows basic rotation in PVP and you’ll see why there is hate for them.

A plea to Theives...

Guys, please, for the love of all that is holy, you have /one/ job in the current meta. That job is not “Jump into the teamfight and get AoE’ed down within seconds.” Like 4 separate thieves on my team today believed.

No you guys are the gods of Decap and Gank. Your job is to go to their home point and make sure it /stops/ giving the enemy team points. When they send someone back to recap it you obliterate them in a 1v1 on the road.

Now I know there are some classes, that even in a 1v1 you guys will have trouble with. So you know what you do? Perhaps Rise! should have something like a passive 8% damage reduction per active Horror rather than a flat 50% for attacking minions. That might help diversify MM builds away from Death Magic. Add more damage on the shout or a brief stun to promote more active play.

MM will never move out of Death Magic. Death Nova is too strong to move out of.

Exactly, one has no lived as a MM till they’ve relished in the 6 shambling 2 bone minion explosipocolypsegeddon.

I’ve gotten mine to burst nearly 10k on a single target not counting poisons from 6 shamblings, a flesh golem and two bone minions all popping at the same time. With 9 poison fields up. It’s a beautiful slurry of burst.

Same thing happened to me last night, 2 wins from legend, then the MM was like "Ha, you wanted legendary tonight?! Well we’ll throw you into a losing game against some people… Then the next game we’ll throw you in against the SAME people and again and again and again… I gave up when I dropped down to first tier 6…

Rise is beyond useful. 50% damage reduction and ALOT of people are forgetting that six horrors up is six more bodies for the purpose of AoE targeting. Now I believe AoE randomly picks targets in the circle. But more targets is less chance my 20% HP dragon hunter team mate takes a mark. Or my Low HP aura share ele getting bombed by something.

So you say the ladder system is better then season 1? It may be but unfortunately the class balance in this game is a huge kitten stinking up the room.

I find it funny how I can pretty much predict the outcome of a game based on the OP nature of some classes. 3 reapers and 2 scrappers? Ya that’s a win. 2 DH, 2 reapers and 1 ranger? More then likely a win as well.

What a joke, you’re ladder system might be better but it’s too hard to tell with this broken class balance.

I know of a lot of players that are pretty skillful in this game that can’t even seem to get out of the 3rd tier and just lose interest. They are definitely better then 3rd tier but I guess they just need to “L2P” right?

You can swap professions before game starts you know?!
Even though the outcome of a match is dictated by the player behind the profession but anyway…
Players that can’t adapt to the situation are anything but “skilled” and those who can barely play one profession should take the “L2P” comment seriously

Except in the case where matchmaker decides it’s time for you to bend over and take it. This is CONFIRMED by a dev in the upper link the one guy posted about the match simulations.

No amount of class swapping is going to allow a win against a team with superior skill levels ALSO most likely swapping classes and simply playing their classes better, you become a stepping stone instead of running an even playing field.

Playing as a condi reaper with tons of boon corrupt I can confirm, even timing corrupts past their invuls they’re kitten near unkillable without half your team CONSTANTLY applying pressure to them.

Same with eles, unless I got a buddy and absolutely perfect timing, any ele worth half their kitten will outlast till the enemy team can respond.

Legend Player Can't Make It Out Of MMR Hell

You lose games because of crappy teammates, which leads to a drop in your MMR that leads to even crappier teammates. This is what you claim.

According to what you say, it is not your fault that you lose the games. OK
By any stretch of imagination, if you keep dropping in MMR and get paired with more crappy teammates, you also face more crappy opponents. If it is not your fault that you lose these games, you should be able to tip the balance in favor of your team. That is how the system works. Or are you convinced that the system treats you in biased fashion and specifically provides YOU crappy teammates while the opposing team consists of better players?

This is a load of rotten cabbage, just like every other thread in this forum that complains about the imaginary concept of ‘’MMR hell’’.

With the mkitten of “Blowout” Screenshots on the forums. I would wholeheartedly say the latter. Being in diamond atm I’ve seen the exact same things, diamon players who trickle to points. Go into 1v3’s go to points where it shows multiple friendlies dead there, only to walk into 1v3’s.

So I’m inclined to believe him.

Character wise Tybalt’s writing, dialog and backstory where just, better then the other three. Sieran came off as a bubbly aidhead with no sense of direction and Forgel came off as a brooding victim who didn’t like being around you till near the end… Tybalt was just, fun to be around like your buddy. The atmosphere around Tybalt was kept just fun and just serious enough to hold everything together in the perfect web of character/player interaction.

Foefire Lord needs a buff

a single player cant kill the lord fast enough before the enemy team can react, lord is strong enough and doesnt need any changes, if your door is broken that already means you should be prepared to rush to defend your lord any moment past 300 points

what should be changed however is the clarity of alarm message for lord defense, if the announcer is spammed by some messages like point capture info or “base under attack” it will often delay reporting that the lord is being attacked which might lead to defenders being late

My Minion Master necro could solo lord in around 10 to 15 seconds depending on crits without a hint of fear from the NPC’s I won many a game solo rushing the lord at 350 and I know there are some classes that can do it in half the time it took me.

Base ranger running 2 signets and…Berserkers amulet (15k health) and a drake? I’m guessing your lines are Marksmanship, beastmastery and wilderness survival?

It’s very hard to win when your team is playing 4v6.

yes i full dps build and i was the highest much point than my team member.

The matchmaking system is a tad wonky, but you’re double stacking your disadvantages. You don’t bring a colonial musket to an assault rifle shootout… Even moreso to an assault rifle shootout where the other guys have better accuracy ((Matchmaking system)). You’re going to hurt yourself and your buddies in the fight.

Hit up metabattle.com and look over the builds there.
Before the community jumps on me, Metabattle is not the be-all-end-all to a build but it will give you a decent foundation with some explanations on how to use the build effectively.

After you’ve upgraded your musket your still fighting the matchmaking system, but you increase your odds and chance of success.
