I feel with you … I played fire/earth/arcane and now tempest… I hate being forced to spec water. I usualy play my personal spec and use scepter/focus which fits me best, but i do look at the oposing team and change to sage + water (instead fire). Still not the meta cleric but a cleanse bot against the necro army …. I want some decent team support and see my oponents burn :-).
So some buffs in fire and arcane. Eles already have gills ….

Its clear that class balance ist not right. I agree power shatter mesmer is not good now.
But the condi mesmer with MoA and Portal is realy good.
The main problem all around is that classen are forced into mostly one build to play highly competative. A pitty.

Fire:
Decrease channel to 1sec. Decrease direct damage 20% if needed.
Decrease cast time of dragon tooth to 1/2

Water:
Add vulnerability to auto attack.
Increase trident radius.
Air:
Auto: Make it a normal 1/2 cast lightning and average damage.
Earth:
Make it a normal 1/2 cast 3 shot attack chain with poision on the third not bleed.
Make dust devil instant cast.

Camping fire with staff is good. Air for opening the fight then burn them down. Earth/water only for tactical resons. Dead doesn´t fight back ^^.

If i see multiple necros i often swap to sage amulet and trait water for double cleanse on aura shouts.

Rebound can be siplified. I would like the following:
45 sec Cooldown
Instant cast.
No messing around with effects. Straight forward:
Give 6 sec light aura and convert two conditions to boons. (Or give furry if condi convert is to much …)

Classic play for me with scepter focus:
Stat Air. Set up swirling winds to protect team from missiles and instant bolt/blind.
Overload air. (If it seems to fit knockdown).
Swap fire and dodge back to a bit distance. Usually set dragon tooth but most important strike a nice phönix (Gorgeous when a on point teamfight is running ^^).
Of course use aura shouts for the team inbetween.
Now it depends. If fight goes well and there is a good option i cleave a downed wir fire overload or burn someone that tries to step back. Otherwise swap earth now and savestomp or rezz, heal with wash the pain away, blow projectiles into a field (Rock barrier). So whatever fits best. I realy prefer scepter over dagger. I have the option to go close or keep a bit distance.

I still play fire and i always come back to it. Two specs play best for me and that are fire/earth/tempest or earth/arcane/tempest. It suits me much better then annything els. But i admit that i sometimes swap to water line after looking at oposing team. I realy dislike water and propably play not good with it but its no help when i can do more damage and win most 1:1 but my team goes down against two necros …. If is see more then one necro i alwas trait for double cleanse on auras …. Sigh …

If that’s true, mind to explain to me why the win rate of five solo players is above 50% against five-person premades?

Only 1% of all Ranked matches played in season one were a full five-person premade group vs. a group of five solo players, and even then, the win rate for those five solo player teams in those cases was consistently at or above 50% throughout the entire season.

I did beat 5 player premades in solo Q myself. There are guilds runing teams either not on com or because the are just online and play as a guild. I expect only a few full premades are with a planed composition regulary playing as a team. I did it myself building a random premade with people i met. Of course this is quite diffrent. Premade is not premade. I met one of 4 on com that were trained and the diffrence is not a gap it´s a casm …

I did see it all. Thiefs that were a hell of fun to watch moving around winning the match and then some that moved nearly headless like there is no minimap… all in saphire.
I came very well to saphire, then there was one eavening i paired with a friend but it was quite unlucky loosing like 10 matches mostly very close … After this one eavening i have it extreamly hard to make three wins in a row in solo Q .

My daughter often has the problem that she needs a stomp with her guardian. I see her in 1:2 downing one oponent but its effortless when the second downs her a few seconds later. She learns and now fires bow 5 on the downed but it is not enough when she gets +1ed or her teammate leaves for whatever …. Its one of her main problems whe i see her playing.
I myself play ele…. easy show. Savestomp with invul or i cleave them to death within seconds. She did watch me today and said its so fast what i do. +1 down, stomp off i go … Or see 2 going down in a teamfight. Go over them with fire overload … a third falls in the havoc, i go down but rally because i killed them all XD.
It´s quite funny. I see greater damage numbers on her guardian and she does more damage in total when we compare stats but i am much more efficient.

The system is flawed because:
1.) Soloq and premade is mixed. Premade on com is the power, rest victims.
2.) Your MMR and thus pairing is 80% depended on others not your competence.

Early win/loose streaks has to much impact on your follow up games. There are players in saphire and ruby that are worse then some emerald players and unlucky ones crawling to saphire despite being much better. the will reach ruby but their mmr alone would make it a pain to advance in solo Q.

I disagree with all ele changes.
The aproach is false. Ele has a base problem in diversity and nerfing some key skills just makes it worse. The usual fault. Ele needs some nerves to sustain in the permanent regeneration COMBINED with a lot of weapon/trait buffs that increase damage or defence for non water specs!

Hi

While i don´t like the cannon, the map itself is nice. I don´t agree that falling is bad.
This is a main diffrence and makes the map fun. Beeing able to pull/kick/throw someone off. Its a diffrent tactics/play.
I would only alter the skyhammer. Maybe not as a gun. Some kind of control panel that can port teammates (like you can port all temmates from a point you control to another position) or alter barriers on the map. A funny tactical map. Don´t focus on classic point fighting. We have enough maps for this.

That´s how i play most of the time. Start air, and swap fire/earth most. Rarely use water. But this is not the meta spec! If you trait water you use it or you loose a lot of your potential. And playing staff you know about water flieds ;-).

I am using focus since i started. I swaped away from staff and never got warm with dagger.
Earth 4 on focus is so amazing i won´t play without it ^^. While stomp/rezz with invul is great i would be OK if its changed to something much more offensive like dust storm on a low cooldown. But never touch my magnetic wave XD…..
Air focus is quite good and i am OK with fire but would like more damage in the firewall. Just water is not great.

I prefer scrapper or leadership (if leadership i go for feel my wrath as elite). Traveler is a good option, but i hope to gain swiftness.
Depends also on amulet which is paladin.

I encounter hard matches and hard to advance. This MMR pairing after you got a lousy day is not motivating but i can team up. More of a concern is the build diversity. Its pretty low when you want to play at higher level. And this diversity and balance is one of the main things i play games. Built unique, adapted to yourself and meta and be competative. Copy paste meta build is a no go and if forced to do the end of playing.

I woul like a weapon swap OPTION instead of ele swaping. But all on swap abilities must trigger and the swap time must be adapted to kompensate the loss of three elements.
So something like a wp swap on 5 sec in the first traited element woul be realy nice for feeling as ele. Eg: fire ele with staff + scepter/dagger. If combinable with tempest OL must not hinder swap just the next OL and no 5sec precharge because it´s one element.

I say build is often more valuable then class. (Gear is part of the build for me).
And skill has a huge impact, but since its not competative or fun to play at large skill diffrences, it has lower impact. If skill is only a bit apart, build will overshadow it (which is actually very good as long as there is useful build diversity).
Then matchmaking. How do you count that? Yes in the end it mostly decides who wins. But due to the factors what is matched. So you have to look at what comes after matchmaking and there team is far the most important factor.

Lack of coordination is loss.
Classic: Game starts. 4 Head mid one close. Mid fight lasts for a while. As soon as it is decided chaos spreads. Players start to feed outnumbered fights … Pushing far is one scenario especially when mid is won, if its lost going solo to die due to diffrent respawn times is the second …
People need to learn not to join hopless fights. Example. You die mid, when you respawn you see the next dead on mini map and when moving nr3 is down. Mid fight is lost. If you now join to “Rescue” the last man standing you make it worse …. Especially if the next respawing tries that too (now wanting to save you …)
If two get killed in a 4:4 then disengage and dealy…. Pull them trailing you to a favorable spot. Either where they loose time or your fallen rejoin ….

The problems are more in the classes itself being balaced and some skills/traits there.
Most 1:1 and 2:2 fights are actually quite nice.
And the matchmaking supports negative impressions for solo Q players …

Revenant and Scrapper are more powerful.
Reaper is anoyingly easy and devasting close.
All three feel over the top.
Tempest, Crono , Thief, Druid (pet maybe still to hard) and Guardian seem to be OK. Tey need work but are not OP. Like tempest is forced to support that many eles don´t like and totaly lacks diversity despite so many theoretic options. Guard is great, but can be countered by good players with some builds which kicks them out of meta. Same with thief.
Warrior seems to have the short stick due to power creep. They can do great damage but in the end they somehow loose.
The meta is not only a result of best classes, its also a result of what is most stable. Thats why ele is in. The support is strong and makes the team stable. But ele itself lost a lot identity becoming pure support …
The power creep did no good. It is not the worst thing when elite is a bit stronger than base classes. you still need three traitlines. If elite gives identity its OK. But the overal class balace and diversity has becoem a mess. Hope that we can get all classes with multiple builds at about the same level which each class being unique. If every class can do/have all options its again booring. I see a lot of traits and skills (weapon and utility) have to be buffed/reworked to allow diversity. Also build counters are a good thing if not overstretched.

The only problem i have with most conditions in general is when nearly every class deals them like a side effect. If you want to deal weakness then you should have to trait it and leave some other good trait beside. Weakness itself is fine. Weakness in auto attacks feels quite lame. Elementalist trait is a good example how it should be. You have to leave out one of the main sustain traits to take it. This is a good tradeoff.

Yes so many eles and for such a long time wish for scepter buffs. Not cosmetic ones …

Fire auto 1sec cast. (If to strong reduce direct damage 20%)
Fire 2: 1/2 casting time not 1sec

Air auto: Make it a 1/2 cast single shot that deals a bit less then lightning whip.

Earth auto: Make it an attack chain (1/2 cast per shot) with the last hit being poision not bleed.
Earth 2: reduce cast time to 1/2
Earth 3: Instant cast

Water: Reduce trident CD to 15 sec.

Well the only reason i don´t use FSG in sPvP is the cooldown. On 60sec i would slot it over rebound an even consider conjurer trait. Generally i have 4 elements and using a conjure like #5 is not needed. So the “lost” utility slot is to much. I woudl like to use a conjure but then i or a teammate dies or has less support because i don´t heave that extra cleanse/port/aura ….
the rework sugestion sounds OK. I guess i would use icebow with that changes .

I also did beat 4p premades with all solo or 5 with a duo. But i also got stomped by a 4p premade on com… As in solo Q you can´t be shure that a premade is top. It can be a guild group that just met in GW2 without com ….

I like tempest. But there are things i think they are bad now.
Regen + Vigor on auras. I would be happy if this is changed to damage not heal. (replace regen with furry).
Then breath new life into fire traitline:
Burning precision 3s CD, Blinding ashes 6s CD, and increase might and fire aura duration for one with fire to 5 stacks + 50% duration to make this trait have an impact …
This would open fire line again for some builds and would reduce the aura sustain.
Maybe it will hit the cleric bunker but i won´t weep a tear for that and i nearly only paly ele.
Of couse arcane utilities should also be buffed to make traiting them more vialbe.
33% CD reduction on traited arcane not 20% and double the duration of inflicted conditions. Then maybe this will be worth instead of the almighty dodge …

Ah and for less atunements. This is basically against ele, but i would like specialized ele as many other will. also good for new players.
A weapon swap in the first traited elemet instead of 4 atunements (of couse it triggers all on swap including elemental).
I also came up with something i would like. But its all theory.
A trait saying: You can´t swap untraited elements. You gain passive traits of untraited elements. So basically you loose 8 skills + the autos + 2 swaps, but gain 4 passive. I don´t think its OP but it would lower the skill floor. Not all will like this, but as an option no one must use it. It would open new builds and especially without water.

Well the problem for Anet is more or less again the que time now. If they narrow down matchmaking, which should be an easy fix doable next patch, to have more fair matches (Like only pair same tiers) then Q times might get unbearable… If they balance out matches we are back to S1 and division will tell nothing about skill only grind resistance …

Thiefs are perfectly viable if played properly, 2 thieves however on your team is usually a problem and the reason thieves should have secondary professions they can roll to.

Mesmers not viable? Mesmers are perfectly viable and beat alot of professions in the 1v1 while bringing good utility and decent damage in team fights. Honestly I feel like I have most influence on matches while playing a mesmer.

Warriors/DH’s are in my opinion not viable, altough DH’s can work at lower levels of play I guess.

This. One good thief can make the match. More is dangerous.
Also one mesmer can do great things.
Warrior is limited. DH is acutally quite strong. Even two on a team can be a win.
the problem is that DH can be countered quite hard. So it´s a high risk when playing against good players. A DH should be able to RR too if he sees an ele + engi.
Had such a match. Did see 2 DH and 2 Druids on enemy team .. Smiled and swaped my cantrip for shock/aftershock …. Poor (or stupid?) enemy team …

Yep i tried mercanary and sage with soldier rune and both are good. While i realy like to play with diffrent runes i feel i can´t give up soldiers in PvP. For a bit special builds lysa and leadership are options for me but soldier is just perfect if you use four shouts.
I did test a more damage build using a acuracy sigil and lyssa with mercenary and sage. You can even put a fire signet on the toolbar for a OK crit rate.

Very strange for me that you get players in saphiere or higher that have no clue… Especially in ruby i would expect that all there know PvP and are good with their build.
I don´t have th time to play so much to go as fast as others. So i am in emerald T5 but all i get paired with seem to know PvP very well. OK had the double cap near or someone trying thief for first time but such is rare after amber.

I roam with this one and its funny. Have a rampager staff in my back if needed but usualy don´t use it.

Its indeed very uncommon and personal style. FSG is a must in this build for roaming.
Food varies. Utility i use mostly the oil but have tuning crystals in my back.

In Amber i had a huge number of these blowouts. Afterwards it´s much less. Yes it still can happen but i have a more close ones.
Yesterday a thief asked which rune he shall take befor game start. Guess the rest of the team got a headace. We carried him and he did what a thief does. —> Move a lot and decap so i gues he was experienced but tried thief. So a team can propably carry one but one usually can´t carry 3-4.
Is unraked more fun? Somethimes. Unranked games can also differ greatly. It all depends on humans. The motives vary. Some play for fun, some try builds, some just do daylies, and some might AFK because they forgot the pot on the stove …

I can try it but it feels extreamly risky. I learned that it´s not worth in a hard fight and its more of kill or disengage…. Good players will cleave and AE the downed like i usually do too … But thanx i will think about more rezzes :-). I can tank quite OK unless my CD´s are in a bad shape so its an option.

It´s good advices. In the end its a situational decision what to do and all points are good. If you do nothing then die its quite bad. I answered because i got complanis that i did´t rezz. My teammate did´t know the situation of my CD´s. I say i will mostly try to rally him not rezz. But it can be any decision. Disengage to far is one option, lure the followers casing me a minute or just go on a rampage trying to kill them if i see a chance :-). I rarly feel it´s save to rezz. Maybe i need to learn when this is an option.

Its nice to suggest rezzing, but what if the reaper cleaves on the downed? I had such fights like 2:2 where my partner did go down and i won´t survive the rezz when my invul is on CD and even then rezz propably won´t compensate damage from two ….
Last time i made the desicion trying to bring down the oponent thats also near death and then savestomp …. Did´t work. But i will try more rezzing if that´s promising. I just don´t play a bunker that can facetank long.
