thats what they did with signet of might, look it up
The signet of might ‘buff’ is useless.

We should create a Tier called Tier PvP where eveyone and everybody is fair game like DAoC modred
Mordred was an amazing server. We used to group up as lowbies with previous pvp experience and stalk a high level in a pve zone (its a loop zone where groups loop around to fight each other). Then we would attack that lowbie in a group -we had lower stats and limited abilities, we didn’t have the top lvl stats- .
I was responsible for the CC and interrupting the casting. If you killed that high level you got tons of xp. It was scary being a high level and looking over to see a bunch of lowbies watching you from over the hill..waiting..
We eventually got chased off by the big guilds and had to hide and come back later :P
You also could disband an annoying player and kill him. Was great fun.
Currently two of the most active 5 mans are docked in HoD (KoM and PAXA). SO we are populating the FC and ET 5 man slots first. You are correct, HoD will most likely move which means KoM and PAXA members will be paying to come back to the third server that moves down. But our goal is to have 3-5 5 mans on each server competing daily, and grow it from there.
If you are planing on paying to transfer to the new server that gets knocked down to T8, why not transfer to the bottom two? or then it won’t be a 3way?
some of us are getting bored of the current WvW meta of zerg this, zerg that (no not from dying to zergs, but from our only food being stragglers trying to get to them).
Would there not be interest from those who run <10 on a daily/nightly basis to consolidate to a single pretty static tier, like the bottom? If just 9 groups were up for this in a single prime time slot, that would leave us with 3 per server. It would allow us to keep the fun of unknown roaming, as opposed to organized GvGs, as well.
Please note I am focused on NA prime time.
You should arrange this on Anvil Rock for NA, or Desolation for EU, the dominant sPvP servers.
Anvil Rock would probably be better since Desolation is already a T1 zergy EU server, AR is T5 and from what I’ve heard, plays WvW the way they play sPvP – small groups of highly skilled roamers.
Would be cool to build on that foundation and make server full of 24/7 coverage of disruption squads.
AR has no small group guilds running around except one and it is casual and on most nights it can’t fill up. The opposite servers are zergy as well. Not as zergy as T1..but zergy enough to interrupt most of the good fights. The only small man action going on is duels behind the windmill @ S camp.
I know..I’ve been trying to 5 man effectively for the past 2 months or so.
We should create a Tier called Tier PvP where eveyone and everybody is fair game like DAoC modred

The more people we have in attendance to the meeting the better we can determine what is best. I can honestly say I run with the same 5-7 guys every night. We have found that its taken us about 3-4 months of THE SAME zerging crap to become extremely bored especially when it’s those same people talking smack on the forums after 40 of them killed 3/5 of our team.
We can talk about it more in the meeting, but the reason a mass xfer to t8 makes most sense is 2 major reasons…
1: server volatility. Only ONE server will ever be in question of moving shifting the dynamics of the tier. Obviously we will develope a system to bring that servers guilds back.
2: the zergs are just smaller. 20-30 mans as opposed to the impossible to even play on the map and enjoy even 5 minutes of being logged in 40-80 mans. Smaller zergs equal more space on each map to run into 5-10 mans roaming.Like I said before, talentless and I understand the inconvenience of this exodus / xfering…. But it will ultimately prove LESS an inconvenience than the following:
1. Log on
2. Form ur guild grp
3. Build stacks for 3 minutes
4. Take south camp
5. Check out swords on a tower
6. Realize there are 22-44 noobing morons following a blue Dorito
7. Kite said noobing morons for 5-8 kills
8. Watch your stomps brought back to life in under 27 seconds total
9. Kite the fully revived 22-44 noobing morons to your spawn
10. Have 1-2 guildies go down during kiting
11. Realize these are the only red players (for the most part) on every server and every tier with a few exceptions
12. Log off in under 15 minutes due to terrible Wvw mechanics and non-hardcore mentality in 99% of the gw2 community.
Story of my life. Wish they wold remove the downed system and AOE limit.
Hod is currently the top in T8 and thus might get bumped into T7. It might even get stuck in T7 which can be zergier especially with NSP there according to what some have posted.
Wouldn’t that be a deterrent for small group wvw guilds to transfer there and instead aim for FC or ET since they have a more guaranteed chance of staying in that Tier?
PREFACE
I am not claiming to be pro nor be the best. Simply stating what happened and how I came to what I think. Finally tried out the Mesmer profession in sPvP. I am fairly adept with all classes having played all of them at least to level 50; I currently have most at level 80. I only played Warrior in sPvP because I liked the challenge. I finally decided to toss in my hat because it is obvious that Warriors will be broken for still quite some time, so I decided to give the profession I thought would be the most OP a whirl.
I understand most people think D/D Elementalist is OP, but that is only true when in a organized group of 3 or more. It is the combined healing/condition clearing that makes them a problem. I could kill unskilled/low skilled Eles on my Warrior as well as many other classes up to skilled level, but I decided to give up the struggle with trying to best someone that is really skilled and go on to something I thought would be easier.
….And boy… did I ever choose right. How over powered can a class be? How has no one noticed how disgusting this is? After 50 games and only leveling to 80 I went in to sPvP and SOLOED a Bunker Guardian and condition Necromancer AT THE SAME TIME. You can call me a lair if you want, but I 1v2 and won with ease. I left the fight with 80% health. Granted I had no cool downs left, but I won. I stomped both of them. To add to the shame, I am full berserker and have at least ten times the ability to survive than my Warrior.
Now, I will say they were not the best out of the bunch I have ever played, but they were not the worst either. The Warrior profession has trouble enough with one person. Dear Balthazar, throw in another you are practically dead on the spot. I easily 1v1 and 1v2 now. I have only died so far to mob balls in hot join. After playing the Warrior for so long switching to Mesmer makes me feel like a Giant walking among flees.
It is just outrageous that a professions can be so good while other suffer horribly. I will most likely not stick with Mesmer as there is no challenge what so ever in killing anyone.
So, congratulations I guess on picking the clearly OP class in this game. You can try to defend it but there is a clear gap in professions and Mesmer is sitting very high.
Any mesmer that claims the class is not OP: I just ask him/her to join a duel with them playing as a warrior vs. a good mesmer. It’s funny seeing them panic and start making excuses to get out of it.
I understand, however, that some people need OP classes to carry them.
The event is going to be awesome Tehmaker needs some more warriors!
i.e. more cannon fodder.
Only works against new players. Slot stability in or use a stun breaker. Their opening stun is usually pretty obvious, they leap in the are.
Just dodge and start snaring them
This is just stupid.
Enjoy the nerf, when it finally comes, if the balance team ever gets its head on straight.
Dude, as someone who loves warrior and plays rifle warrior (full crit etc.) in spvp, I can say for sure, that you die faster than you could ever imagine. There’s no need to nerf killshot, doing so would just ruin the warrior in my opinion.
I disagree. Kill shot should be nerfed so people would move away from that useless ranged pve dungeon weapon. Anytime I see a rifle warrior i zero on on him first because he would be the easiest for a melee class.
This is nothing new from the pre patch. The burst mastery only reduces the cooldown timer but test it yourself: Can you burst every 7 seconds? If you can then go for it but between weapon swapping, going through the weapon skills, using heals, chasing people down, getting CCed, dodging ,using utility skills it will be more than 7 seconds so back to the original cooldown of the burst.
The burst mastery assumes you will be ready with a full bar every 7 seconds to burst. Might be useful in PVE.
Try it out in spvp competitive matches and frap yourself. Then see if your using it every 7 seconds or not. Most likely you won’t. Also, going down deep into that line you sacrifice some other useful abilities.
I think the cooldowns are OK, especially with the unblockable 3 hits we now have possible via Signet of Might. IF you get an opening in which to start the CC chain, it is ruinous, and I don’t think it should be possible to do the chain any more than once every 25 seconds max. It is a great weapon for scaring people to use their stun breakers / stabilities.
That said, with the cast time and poor range of the hammer abilities it is a miracle if you get to do the chain. #4 is the worst with the self root, I almost always end up cancelling it by accident. Then there’s also the inexplicable “MISSED” events with the F1 skill… I hate the hammer.
Just a correction..signet of might active effect lets only the damage from your CC attack goes through. The CC does not work and does not interrupt the blocking hence signet of rage is useless for hammers. I’m not sure if this is intentional.
On the other hand, guardian WEAPON skills : line and circle of warding, can interrupt blocking completely. We should have signet of might doing that for us.
Kill shot+ signet of might? yea..like the opponent won’t see it coming a mile away and dodge or cc you. Maybe evis from Axe+signet of might but even then how many times do you find your target blocking when you suddenly evis? I almost never do. Just time it.
Signet of might active effect is useless at its current state. It should allow 10 seconds of uninterrupted attacks..not 3 attacks..that is nothing. Also, if you use a cc on a blocking opponent with signet of might it should interrupt the channeled block/heal just like a plain regular guardian weapon skill..
Any tips for wvwvw, I jut got to 80 on warrior and not doing so well any tips on how I should build Him.
Are you running solo? In a zerg? In a small group? Do you wanna DPS? Heal? Do you want to be melee dps or range dps?
Well the bright side kind of is that theres no cap on the ‘destroy the empowered’ trait.
IF someone has all boons and sustains them, then you have a perma 27% damage on themWhat class has all boons? That is highly situational. Guardians can have 7 boons up with their shout so that is 21% increased damage on them. However, they have protection as one of those so it is 33-21% damage so you get a total of 13% damage reduction on them. Also, retaliation is one of them so with your increased damage you are destroying yourself even faster.
Other classes don’t have as many boons on such as the eles -average of about 4?- so that is 12% damage with their protection up a lot of the time so that is 33-12%=21% damage reduction still persisting.
Having some extra damage is better than none is not a good argument. A necro or Mesmer can remove ALL the boons including protection thus removing 33% damage reduction, removing their regen, removing their retaliation etc etc.
The solution is very simple. Give us one boon removal per adrenaline bar. We don’t want complete boon removal like mesmers or necros..
You mean 18%, 3% per boon does not effect aegis.
Yea You are right so its even worse.
I don’t even remember it on any patch notes, but it changed.
I remember clearly having 17 seconds CD (traited) per FGJ and Shake it Off, and healing me for around 2k-2.5k.. That same setup now heals me for 1.8k-2k. This was very early after launch, when “On My Mark” was “I Will Avenge You”.
IIRC that wasn’t a direct change to shouts but maybe something to do with healing power in general? So it probably wouldn’t be under ‘warrior’ in patch notes.
must be.. well shouts before was OP. Besides the shorter CD, they had 1600 range and more than 5 teammates affected.
As for Dogged March, at least, to me, it is a buff in the right direction. A lot of the movement conditions I can now ‘wait out’ before I pop condition cleansers.
I’m done playing around with control specs of varying builds (tanky, balanced, zerker), and trying out a sword+shield/GS in mix Rabid/PvT/Knight setup focused on mobility, hit and run gameplay. I know, condi damage is really poor on warriors, but I just had to try it (in WvW).
If you are running leg specialist with GS then you have instant removal of those effects on demand as well as gap closers -which is the whole point behind bogged march-. This is obviously much better than this -leg specialist doesn’t remove chill- Bogged is inferior to this. I think it was introduced for hammer warriors.
I don’t feel like I need protection. I would prefer some more retaliation though, the 5s every 15s I get now feels like it’s not enough.
Sir, protection is better than all the armor and hp you can muster. If you went full soldier you would kitten your self.
Eles and guardians have it up a lot of the time. Rangers etc. It is a HUGE game changer. A very simple experiment..take an ele..go full arcana and water.. have a thief with good burst burst you down. Now..ask him to do it again and just before he does so, switch to earth attunement for an INSTANT protection every 9 seconds that is up most of the time. Now..watch how your health changes.
Situation 1 is you..situation 2 is every other class with protection.
Toughness is crap compared to protection.
Regen might be good if you are a tanky build or have healing gear on. Most of us don’t. I don’t think we are as good as bunkers in competitive spvp so we should skip it.
We don’t need retaliation. We do enough damage. It will only work against thieves and smart thieves trigger it and shadowstep away or stealth till it wears off then they hit again. We need protection with a fair amount of up time.
The solution is simple. Drop protection damage reduction so our Destruction of the Empowered can have Some noticable effect (check the discussion about warriors post patch regarding this )
I think the passive might need to come up in non-healing builds. If I run a clerics tactics build this signet can hold its weight, but it currently has NO place in a berserker build. Not sure it should be as viable in a seeker build, but it needs to see some play in soldiers, and certainly Valk and Shaman builds. Really signets are still going to have a hard time without a stun breaker (particularly in PvP and WvW). Obviously Dolyak signet is the most likely candidate here. Our next balance patch will absolutely be looking at stun breakers and spreading them out on all professions to make more categories of utilities viable. I’ll probably post this in general later as well but this was a larger balance pass and we will likely let this meta sit a bit longer than previous ones while we work towards taking time to push more less effective builds towards viable status.
Jon
Can we also have a serious look at your elite and destruction of the empowered? Our elite is just regular buffs that can be obtained elsewhere, all classes has access to it and now even thieves can steal it from us using a regular weapon skill.
Here is a link describing our whines and woes about the changes:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/warrior/Warrior-post-patch/first#post1944508
We know you guys don’t have time for everything but since warriors are not in the majority of high end spvp we should have more screen time.
Overall the patch was a step in the right direction, the changes to signets and the addition of Dogged March were right on the mark and opened up some possibilities. Destruction of the Empowered is not tuned right. It’s too situational, it only gets really worth it when the opponent has at least 3 boons and there are classes that almost never do. So sometimes it’s great, others it’s useless, and when I can pick up Burst Mastery which is always useful… A small tuning change to “damage is increased by 3% and an additional 3% per unique boon on the warrior’s target” gives it at least a little boost for situations with no or fewer boons putting it more in line with Burst Mastery.
And then there is brawn. Still? Seriously? It makes the class look like it’s in beta, a whole trait attribute that doesn’t do anything. There are other things such as shouts still being useless, Reviver’s Might being useless, rifle being really UP in pvp, etc. But brawn is the worse. Warriors don’t need more passive dmg, they’ll get too bursty. But their sustain can use a little more buffing so here is a fun idea for brawn:
Replace the “Adrenal Health” minor trait current functionality with “Heals you for (200 + 0.25 healing power) when you use a burst skill per adrenaline level used”. And then rename the current adrenal health effect to “Furious Regeneration” and make that the new warrior trait attribute, it heals you for you for 5 health every 3 seconds for each point spent in the line per adrenaline level (450 every 3 seconds at full adrenaline and with 30 points in). This would create a fun dynamic where “Adrenal health” would encourage you to spend adrenaline to heal while “Furious Regeneration” to hold on to it.
I think it is a step in the wrong direction.
Check out the thread discussing it with suggestions to the devs:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/warrior/Warrior-post-patch/first#post1944508
*I feel like this is already being touched on somewhere but I dont/havent checked the forums so Ill post this thread anyway, nobody whine about that please
Who thought that would be a good idea? Making a viable build is half the battle, now we’ve got people with the ability to become cookie cutters and take a trait trees just like that. This isnt good for pvp, were gonna end up with a bunch of copies running around.
Someone is afraid of some competition..
Well the bright side kind of is that theres no cap on the ‘destroy the empowered’ trait.

Stack Runes of Melandru on top of Dogged March for extra hilarity at watching slows and stuns slide right off of you.
Tried dueling good Necros today with that and appropriate utility/heal skills for condition removal. Even then it was close or it took too long -which is bad in spvp since you risk opponents coming to help them-. Meh will test it some more.
The trait itself is fine; it’s the trait line that’s the problem. The stats provided by the trait line and the 25 point minor trait are vastly inferior to other trait lines.
Its crap. It can’t even burn through one protection. It only acts as additive damage if you already have attack of opportunity on players with boons. It is actually WORSE than attack of opportunity since it requires boons to be up while AOO does not -most people who take AOO have high crit chance thus causing bleeding 1/3 of the time so it is up quite often-.
They should have made it: Remove one boon per adrenaline bar. Give us boon ripping like the rest of the valid classes…sheesh..
Check out the gw2 guru warrior pve thread. They have lots of builds and research done there about pve.
“On My Mark!” skill: Now uses its actual range instead of infinite range. Increased the range of the shout from 900 to 1200.
I never even noticed :X
Meh who cares. Warriors got bigger problems =p. It’s like saying..sir..you won’t be able to walk again..but look on the bright side..we got you a kick kitten tricycle! With Ribbons!
Please tell me of a situation worth slotting the signet of strength. Its a huge waste of space.
9/10 times when someone saw me using killshot they don’t block, they dodge it. I don’t understand the signet’s worth at all. If it was for the next 5 seconds your attacks are unblockable then I’ll consider it but even then losing out on all the utility, gap closers, stun breakers etc doesn’t seem worth it.
I’ve gotten tossed around by an ele so many kitten times and here I thought warriors were the king of CC, not to mention elementalist’s CC are all 2 seconds long while ours are usually 1 second long unless you blow your entire 3 bar adrenline.
I think a full adrenaline bar Fear followed by killshot has a better chance. Assuming they can’t break out of it.
If your zerker using the wvw balanced build – check the gw2 guru pvp warrior forums- you can drop one early on especially if you have frenzy up with endure pain and hopefully a reactive stability. Then immediately dodge away to avoid the other player and keep throwing GS 4, Axe 3 and use GS 3 to swing through the downed person. If the other guy starts reviving then shield 4, Evis or 100b on them both. Always keep the downed player between you and the other guy or fight on top of him. That is assuming the rezzer isn’t tanky and the guy being rezzed isn’t a guardian healing himself or a ranger having a pet to rez him or the guy up doesn’t use a broken mechanic to rez such as mistform, elixir or stealth rez or knocks you back. It’s tricky and against good players it won’t happen, I think.
I can’t speak for other builds or for tankier gear.
If you want to 2v1 then try a thief. Lots of mechanics to get away, hit, get away till one drops then stealth stomping on demand. Even with full zerker and 91% crit chance and full crit damage line I see thieves hitting much harder than me in the opening. Also, I depend on frenzy up along with bulls charge etc. Thieves just have no cooldowns given their silly initiative mechanic.
Earlier I ran into a thief and tried setting him up then got frenzy>>100b>>GS 3>>shield 4>>evis and he didn’t drop because he finally used his stun breaker. Another thief attacked him later and dropped him in less than 2 seconds. So yea..your best bet at 2v1 against semi decent players is a thief since their mechanics are broken and bordering on hacks. Shadowstep=teleport hack, basically.

Great post but did you try the signet of might active effect? If you try and CC with a hammer or shield it does not interrupt the blocking nor stop it. You will get 3 hits in and then they will block the rest.
It does not interrupt the guardian block heal.
Also, 100b only goes in 1/3 of the way in since its multiple hits and the rest of it will be blocked. Using it to set up a good Evis? Well You can usually wait till the block finishes before using it, normally. It should have given us 10 seconds of unblockable attacks not 3 attacks within the next 10 seconds otherwise what is the point?

Guardians and Necros are great in group situations but thankfully few good solo guardians roam wvw.
I’m not sure I understand what you’re trying to say here. What’s the problem with solo Guardians? I have one now and though I don’t ever play her, I don’t see her as much of a threat in WvW. She has NO ranged ability and isn’t much good in a zerg. Also, she can only crit for a max of about 6K with the GS. That’s nothing compared to a similarly equipped Warrior.
I meant that good solo guardians and necros are a pain in the kitten that is why I’m thankful they aren’t roaming wvw alone like you =p.
Guardians are great in zergs. What are you talking about? Line of warding? Ring of warding? 2-3 guardians alternating that on a choke point in an organized group while their buddies AOE that choke point is amazing.
As for guardians having bad range I completely agree but that won’t affect them vs. a melee toon.
(edited by XII.9401)
Been warrior since headstart. Love it. Tried to make other classes lvl80, only succeeded on mesmer. Otherwice I just miss my warrior and change back. In WvW I find warrior the best class. After the patch either I have only faced bad guardians/eles/mesmers or the new traits are so freaking awesomely good I can take two d/d eles at the same time. I did loose to them cuz they got me on downed stage while I tried to finish them. In tPvP I had most score and overall enemy teams seems just to rage quit. I killed almost everything there. Had still hard time againts beastmaster Rangers. Axe/shield + Longbow on PvE/tPvP/WvW. Disclipine trait line seems to like axes
Overall I feel stronger in tPvP and WvW now. Specially in WvW. We still lack dirty tricks :P
Sigh..another person who thinks if they can beat bad players then they are A-ok. Have fun in high end competitive tourneys since you won’t even get a team that doesn’t want to carry you.
Sigh… maybe you should try to read again what I wrote and don’t mix your imagination to it. If you can’t do that I can tell how you just failed big time.
Edit: Also I readed your other post where you whined about condi mesmer. If you go WvW you can use food to make condis to become useless. In PvP it’s still hard to kill those sneaky … mesmers
I like how you use the word ‘fail’ in your replies. Do you also use terms such as learn to play etc?.
How can you make confusion useless when it pops immediately when you attack? I fail to see your logic. Condition duration won’t help you much against a mesmer if they burst it on you well timed.
Check the mesmer forums. They are reporting they are still one-2 shotting people with confusion post nerf. Don’t tell me that you as PVE warrior -judging from your posts- know better than the players playing their own class in pvp or wvw?
Judging from your posts you love to PVE which is cute and all but we are talking about going against other classes.
As I said, you did not run into good players. Give me your name and I will meet up with you in an Arena with a good mesmer, engy, ranger or thief and frap it. I’d love to see how well you do.
I’m sorry but if you are happy as a PVE warrior that is cute and all but the rest of us want a fighting change against other classes played by good players.
There is nothing wrong with loving the class and playing it but you shouldn’t assume it is in good standing with other classes.
(edited by XII.9401)
The solution is simple. Stop PvEing in world vs. world.
That means no zerging or seiging. You are just playing into the PVE role.
Run small organized groups. Way more fun. Any group More than 5 is just a zerg waiting to happen and is not enjoyable if you run into a few players.
well if it’s spvp, you can play with whatever you like, no need to invest time or grind for anything. If it’s for WvW, warriors can be deceptively good, since you’re not really dealing with highly skilled opponents, so you’ll have your moments there.
I love those moments ;_;
We should have a trait that gives us one boon removal per adrenaline bar for a total of 3 per burst with added crit damage or crit chance per adrenaline bar.
That is the only way our ‘boon hate’ will come close to other classes who had it since launch. In fact, we should be better than them since they have range and multiple escape abilities.
Think that is OP? Boons are applies all the time: Look up ele..every 9 seconds they get their protection up! A lot of guardians have retal up most of the time! Engy elixir users have very short cooldowns and get tons of boons from 6-8 skills. Mesmers and necros can completely remove all boons -mesmers can remove boons from a full group AND remove conditions from a full group at the same time!- with a utility skill and now thieves remove AND steal two boons with a regular weapon skill with zero cooldown.
The new trait: Destruction of the Empowered (DOE) seems like absolute trash. 3% per boon on target? Guess what..if they have protection they will have to have 11 boons on them in order for me to overcome protection. Even a guardian can’t have more than 7 boons max, usually with their biggest shout. So at best you will be hitting BELOW average damage on him! Wow..that’s a game changer.
And what if they don’t have protection and no 11 boons? Attack of opportunity gives 10% damage on bleeding foes and if you go high zerker in that tree they will always be bleeding. So what they did is they gave us an ability that is worse than our existing one.
(edited by XII.9401)
Shouts with full exo cleric and defense line with the saffron icecream hit for around 3k per. The cooldown is too long and you are forced to pop them for heals thus sometimes wasting their main boon.
Banner warrior with the healing stat hits for around 320 per second totaling around 1k every 3 seconds. Banners now have high stats and the best banner gives you 8% crit chance (180 precision) and 10% crit damage at 80 for your full party.
Having said that, eles with similar heavy healing can do much more healing and bring in way more boons than a support warrior.
I play both in WvW where the abuse of asc gear and food comes in and there is no comparison.
Guys I was really looking foward in playing a warrior, as I am new to the game, but I hear in PVP we suck. I am at level 30 now and my guard is level 16. I like them both but i dont really want a kitten class. Tell me, is there any way to make my warrior viable in pvp?
Nope. Roll another class. Warrior is fun to play but on a competitive level you will feel the frustration and no good balance/buffs are heading towards us anytime soon.
I put half the effort I put in my warrior in my mesmer, thief or engy and I do twice as good.
If you like a fun class to play and switch around things: Engy. Eles are too boring after a while, Mesmers are just kiting. Thieves are very rewarding for semi-decent/casual players.
If you are not in a group in wvw, your kittened if you come across a player who knows how to abuse his class thief/mesmer/ele. You will have a hard fight against a semi-decent sword thief or condi/shatter mesmer. I only find good engys or eles a challenge. You aren’t feeling it simply because they hang around abusing their class in spvp and thinking its their skill and not the class *cough*thieves* cough*. Very few good PvPers I know want to bother with WvW because of the constant zerging and gear grind (asc gear).
I have an 80 thief, mesmer, guardian and engy and I don’t playing them in WvW because most of the fights I win by half the effort I put in my warrior and thus no challenge -especially thieves and mesmers-.
In a group you do better and thieves have trouble navigating around all the AOE flying around. Group wise: Mesmers are still good because of their confusion stacks and Shatters. Eles, too. Guardians and Necros are great in group situations but thankfully few good solo guardians roam wvw.
You are good in PVE but remember..a mesmer is better than you in PVE situations, WvW situations and obviously sPvP.
PS:
*Did you know that thieves can start a stomp, shadow step and return back to finish it thus completly avoiding your downed CC? They don’t need to abuse stealth for that.
*Did you know that mesmers can stomp you without being interrupted on command? F4 distortion : http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Distortion
*Did you know that pistol dagger thieves can attack you with 3 -I think 4 possible, to- heartseakers while remaining in stealth? So much for attack breaking stealth. Check it out. Black powder/heart seeker combo.
*Did you know that thieves can now steal two boons ripping them off while we are one of the few classes that still don’t have any boon removal? Also, I’m sure you know it but mesmers can completely negate your Elite by a single utility skill? Necros, too!
Our elite is something every other class uses on regular basis. We also have proccing swiftness/fury abilities..why? We have it for one minute already..give us something else or improve the kitten elite.
*Did you know that mesmers/thieves can instantly teleport unto hills or high areas in WvW and sPvP to range dps you? Ever had a thief or mesmer teleport/small hill in WvW instantly up a roof and forcing you to run to their location for 3 miles?
The more you know..
If you don’t complain on the forums nothing will change. The main reason we don’t get fixed is because of some oblivious players here think the class is fine. They have NO idea how good the other classes are compared to theirs in the hands of good players. The Devs look at the forums and see: oh..they aren’t doing too bad..we don’t play the class much so I’m sure they are ok..lets go back to playing super adventure box.
The only reason this is ongoing is because our community likes to bend over, take it and doesn’t speak up.
Get on the thief forums and mesmer ones..see what they are talking about..they are ECSTATIC about their class and all they talk about is trying out different builds and checking out new armor..not because they are happy with a bad class..its because their class dominates with less skill and effort required from them.
Just post constructive posts and make sure to make good suggestions for the devs so in a year or two they will bring the class up to par with other classes. That is not good if Elder scrolls online is coming out (ESO).
It’s too bad..the warrior is a fun class to play.
I’m talking about PvE only. I personally don’t like it at all. Warrior’s DPS is already high, we do not need more damage, we need more sustain or some kind of way to benefit more from toughness. If you read other forum sections, people kitten about how Warriors are top of PvE and their class won’t ever do as much DPS as Warrior.
There are many moments where high DPS is the best way in dungeons and I think this is awful. But in many situations other professions outperform Warriors in surviving longer and they still kitten how their profession is inferior just because they like to see big numbers.
I know many of you won’t agree, but I would gladly trade a lot of my DPS for more survivability in melee range.
Warriors are very good in PVE. We have great melee and good range with two range weapons. As for the empowered: it was meant for pvp. Not a lot of enemies have a lot of boons on them all the time so your better off taking the burst cooldown/cost reduction if your speccin heavy into that trait line.
Please add protection to balanced stance…kinda like you did in GW1.
GW1 Balanced Stance: “You cannot be knocked-down and do not take extra damage from critical hits.”
Warriors without protection are just getting stomped. NO amount of toughness or vitality can equal a single protection buff. To even come close to it you will have to sacrifice all your damage and utilities while a lot of the other classes get it,
Warrior..the Cannon fodder in spectator mode!
To the people saying boon hate is useless: so much wtf.
You guys don’t understand how this is going to work with commander hunting killshot builds. Along with the [Signet of Might] buff that makes your next three attacks blockable, you simply pop [On My Mark], [For Great Justice], and F1 the guardian commander after he pops [Save Yourselves]. That’s like what, 40% more damage? Hoooly kitten, I cannot wait to test this out.
Long animation and easy to dodge for the F1 rifle? Easy to knock you down while channeling? What level tourneys are you playing?
So I was just doing some math using a Guardian’s bunker build with 2578 armor as the target and a standard power warrior as my attacker. Using the damage calculation found on the wiki I got that basic attacks against the bunker guardian would do 590 damage with the power build.
I then replaced all the trait lines of power with Discipline and got 461 damage per hit. Say the Guardian has 5 boons on him that will boost damage to 530 per hit.
Yes this is an extreme example of power vs boon hate but I think that boon hate is currently too week to be worth the 30 points in discipline.
If you do happen to have 30 points in strength and discipline your basic damage would be boosted to 678.
Don’t forget the running regen.
Seriously what was the point of buffing warriors lol? My Warrior was a god before, and now he’s a super-god. GG Arenanet, thanks for making me even more powerful without any effort on my part.
Might want to take more time looking at the other classes tho lol.
And then you step into PVP
lol
Thank you ANET for the buffs. I tried them here is the verdict.
The way that its such a trade off to use either one of the new traits, doent make them buffs at all. Becasue If we want boon hate we have to trade a damage increase from somewhere else to get it. Those other traits are a guaranteed boost. Either 10 or 12% depending. So unless the other player we are fighting has all 9 boons on them were not even going to break even on the loss.
The dogged march is great but if we want that we have to give up leg specialist or something. That really doesn’t solve the problem of getting kited. Becasue sure we have 33% less movement but we lack the CC to keep the target from kiting. So we still get kited even more than if we hadent used dogged march at all.
I’m not really sure were your trying to go with theses buffs. They don’t seem to be helping anything except rifle warriors.
The real buffs I suppose is the signet of strength outside of situational SPVP I dont find the active effect that usefull. The passive effect is better but if you want to use signets your going to have to trade CC and survivability, which brings me back to square one warrior problems from he beginning.
If I wanted to use all the the new traits and skills the out come is. Less damage, less CC, Less survivability, more susceptibility to getting kited. Becasue the trade off are too severe to make the benefits if there are any justifiable. Which is the original problem of the warrior, so such a build only exacerbates are original problems.
Please tell me of a situation worth slotting the signet of strength. Its a huge waste of space.
i duno what you guys are doing, i am facerolling people in wvw. 20/20/30 GS/Axe/Shield.
zerk gear and i stand in aoes. push to the back line of the enemy zerg and shield stance and reflect, drawing fire from my squad so they can push in and roflstomp the enemy. if i need to, i pop EP and whirling out of fire into my reinforcements, gain some hp back and rush/bulls right back into the fight.
Needs only one skilled player with any other classes to stomp you in the ground in WvW. You rarely run into good players in WvW. You are also protected by the zerg and running into ‘up arrow’ players. Need I say more?
Is this WvW or s/tPvP?
So far I am loving the buffs. I run melandru and the grass so that with the dogged march is awesome. All the movement condi’s are like 1 sec. I don’t know if the empowered trait is worth it yet still messing with it right now. The dogged march trait I feel is definitely worth it.
I’m running 10/10/20/0/30 atm. So I am at 50% chance to crit 86 crit damage. 2.9k armor. I havent had any problems so far with pretty much any class. I just ran at a 25 stack staff necro and he couldnt keep me off of him.
I think 10/20/20/0/20 might be better though for my style with GS and Axe/shield.
Share your build/gear plz. I’m pretty dissapointed with most of the changes. The DOE (destruction of empowered) is weak against classes with protection especially if they have any kinda regen up.
i’ve always had a blast with this longbow/sword+board build

thanks to the signet buff and Burst Mastery trait its been slightly buffed its a great little build, great escape from sword 2, decent survival from shield block and the damage…the damage is AWESOME.
Are you taken into competitive tourney teams without them carrying you?
I just want to remind everyone that, since the nerffhammer has come down hard, maybe next patch should be about more viable builds, bugged trait fixing, interesting new mechanics for old and unused utilities.
Lets keep it up though, we expect nothing but the best.
ps.: I also mean this towards the community, who really needs to understand how to make this game big before criticizing.
What nerf hammer?
Bunker builds are unchanged. Thief got a 2 boon stealing ability with nerf/buff to steal. Rangers got buffed.
Lots of broken mechanics still in the game e.g. stealth stomping. Thieves are still a broken class with many ways to bypass the pvp mechanics -check the 90+ page thread on balancing thives on the thief forums-.
