I just got in today. Not many groups… maybe only 1-2 for all the dungeons. Maybe it’s because i’m looking at this in overflow (probably not).
It’s taking like 2-3 seconds to load each dungeon to see any groups (most times there are none)
I kind of agree. The idea behind it is good, just poorly implemented.
This game probably needs challenging content for its longevity. Open world bosses that require 100+ people isn’t the answer. Some servers can’t even muster up that many people.
I waited 3 hours to get into jade quarry last night. When I finally get in, we have commanders that are trying to micro manage 75+ people TS down to the last detail, and people, for the most part, are listening. But when the fight actually happens, people don’t stack on pins, they stop defending their turrets etc…
We’ll eventually get the fight down. But what’s frustrating is waiting for half the evening to play with my own realm (so many guesters thinking JQ will down it soon). Also, I highly doubt that people will hop in TS a month or two down the road. It’ll just be a clusterkitten, or become abandoned.
I would have liked to see the squad function fleshed out more to become more like raid groups. Have Tequatl an instanced fight where you can defeat it with 20ish people. Resets once daily. Then in the open world, keep Tequatl on par with other bosses. Maybe a great idea, but it’s something I would like more than this.
You might get a kill tomorrow GoM
I worked on Teq for about 12 hours yesterday and about 10 hours so far today. Please explain how someone like me (who is guesting) is leeching off other people?
Sitting in queue for about 2 hours now waiting to get into my own server map. I got onto my realm yesterday, and there were entire off-realm guilds there taking up slots.
(edited by Xista.7391)
what makes a guest different than someone on the server? nothing. I’ve guested since the start because my server doesn’t do anything. If transfers didn’t cost 1700 gems I’d have transferred already. Silly to act like you deserve it more because you were lucky enough to have chosen a good server.
Because they’re all flocking to the high pop servers, making the queues to get into non-overflow servers hours long.
It’s one thing if this were an easy fight and it can be completed by random players on overflow. It’s another to log on in the evening and wait for a couple of hours to play on your own realm. I want to play with my realm because I know the commanders there are trying to organize a kill….. All I see is dead people and AFK-ers on overflow.
(edited by Xista.7391)
My server hasn’t even killed Tequatl, and I’ve been waiting 90 minutes so far to get out of overflow.
Tequatl just landed and half the people here are just AFK. Even the ones in the turrets.
I guess I’m a bit disappointed that we won’t get any sort of story content for at least a month now. SAB is for a niche audience, and Tequatl isn’t new content – just a revamp.
Don’t get wrong, I’m glad that the bosses are getting a revamp because I do them occasionally, but I probably won’t have much interest in the game until new story comes out. (I could be wrong, maybe Tequatl revamp is a precursor to something larger).
I think Guild Wars 2 is spoiling you. Most games don’t have stories that advance every month. That’s quite a lot. A month off from the story advancing is probably what most of us need right now.
It allows me to get back to other stuff in the game I enjoy but haven’t had time for.
Yeah it may be spoiling me, but weren’t we promised Living Story updates biweekly? Or is that just something that happens most updates, or is the term being used loosely now. (actual question as I don’t have a source).
My guess is that this is just an intermission between living story chapters, I hope. We already know how all of the living stories tie together now (Scarlett), but she’s ran off for now with no indication of making an appearance any time soon. We’ll probably start off on another story tangent and she’ll make an appearance where we learn about her motivations. That’s just my speculation anyways.

Pretty sure a guild on my realm has a guild tax every week (something small, like 2-3g).
They pay people in their guild a few gold an hour to scout.
Don’t get me wrong, I think the legendary shield is perfect as is,
But it’s annoying to have Aegis cover it up when wielded. Can we please get a toggle for Aegis effects?
Yeah this is just more frustrating than fun. Random things that will kill you and you drop through the world to your death with no warning….
I’ll wait for videos to figure out this trial/error crap. I can’t speak for later worlds/zones, but I was hoping for more skill based gameplay….
I was reading on the Wiki that the infinite achievements (dungeons, activities, salvaging) all have a cap on how many times you can repeat them.
Now is that just for the achievement leaderboards, or does that apply ingame also? IE could I earn 1000 achievement points for salvaging in game, but only 250 (the stated cap) count for the leaderboards? Or can I only earn 250 achievement points max ingame?
Or you could get nothing.
Just be grateful for what you did get. Most MMORPGs don’t do anything special, if at all, for the anniversaries.
Classic example of the vocal minority.
I welcome the new Tequatl change.
I just home that this new revamped content isn’t the only content for the release.
Coming from a newish player to sPvP (but very experienced in other game’s PvP)
1.) Normalized height. Would love to view everyone as humans.
2.) More emphasis on winning hot-joins than doing your own thing to rack up points, not contributing to the team.
Details about the Guild Wars 2 First Birthday Gift
in Account & Technical Support
Posted by: Xista.7391
I just received my birthday present in the mail.
Thanks for working hard to resolve this!
I guess I’m an old school gamer. I used to be a raid leader across multile MMORPGs, and I see the way that gear influences people, no matter the difficulty of content that we’re doing. People tend to play the game just for getting better gear, even if they don’t need to complete more difficult content. I’m pretty sure Arena Net is doing the same here…
As an ex-raid leader, gear to me is nothing more than a means to conquer content. If you can already do said content, then you’ll just clear it faster (so what). There isn’t any content in this game (PvE) that’s very difficult except for high level fractals and the odd solo achievement such as Liadri 8-Orb. But solo achievements such as that and others are flawed in that profession selection have a much bigger influence on the outcome than gear does.
Other than that, everything in this game is doable with exotics. More gear just means doing stuff faster… and if that comes at the expense of people feeling like they have to play a certain spec/character, then I feel sorry for them.
If there comes regular content with rewards attached to it that requires BIS gear…. I’ll eat my own words.
also, I’m not a fan of new ascended gear coming to WvW… but it looks like t7 mats will drop from that so w/e
(edited by Xista.7391)
I really don’t see how ascended gear will lock people into playing a certain spec….
If I fully upgrade my berserker gear, I’m not going to wear that 100% of the time. My defensive set will still be better in situations where I need to survive. My condi sets will also be better than upgraded defensive gear for my dot specs.
You’re still able to play the way that you want too. Everything is still doable with exotic gear. Only things that ascended gear help you with in PvE is high level fractals and the odd solo achievement (IE Liadri 8 orb). If this game introduced regular gear check encounters in this game, then you people probably have a reason to complain…. so far that’s not the case.
I’m not sure why everyone is up in arms about new ascended gear. The stat upgrades are minimal at best.
This would be a problem if this game had difficult PvE (except for high level fractals) where you HAD to get the very best gear in order to complete the content. That’s not a thing in GW2.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a huge fan of this going live either. I can see why Arena Net is doing this though. Players go nuts to get the best gear in game, even if they don’t truly need it (to complete content). This is going to force players that have this mentality to play daily.
The only actual problem that arises out of this is WvW where little stat upgrades could cause imbalance and force people to gear one character. I really, really hope that T7 mats drop from completing objectives there so those players have a viable option to gear up.
As for me, I’ll gradually work towards getting this gear. I do all content in this game, and I don’t feel like I’m shut out of any PvE content. I carry two sets of armor on my characters – Zerker and a set with 1 defense stat on it. I carry many weapons on my characters too. I don’t feel like I’m going to be forced to use a particular weapon/armor just because it’s ascended since I use these those for difference scenarios, not stats.
Its more about 1v1’s in WvWvW or 2v1’s in WvWvW. However, all future content will be designed with this level of gear in mind. Hence the word treadmill. You think you increase in power but you don’t because the newer content scales accordingly. So you’re effectively the same.as you were before only it took you a lot longer to get back to there.
That being said though if gear doesn’t really matter in PvE like you said and that you can do everything there is to do….. Would you be so kind as to point me towards a video that shows someone getting 8 Orb Liadri Achievement in ALL Green Gear or lower? Thanks….
Exotic gear is easy to acquire so your argument about doing Liadri in greens/blues doesn’t hold much weight behind it. Solo achievements like that are more about what class you have than gear…. but that’s a whole different topic.
Also I would like to see a source on all new content will consider having ascended gear in mind. The two new dungeons that we got this year weren’t anymore difficult than the toughest ones at launch (when there was no ascended gear).
Liadri was built in all Exotic plus Ascended Trinkets Game World. Do you seriously think the Testers were Testing Liadri in all Yellows? LOL…..Do you think that future Dungeons Testers will be testing in them in nothing but Oranges? LOL… And solo achievement like that are NOT based around Class They are accomplished by skill, gear, build, determination, and a little bit of luck. I got the 8 Orb Achievement and I can tell you right now there is no way I would have been able to DPS her down before the timer expired while hitting her with 8 orbs had I not had a full set of Ascended Zerker Trinkets.
You may not have thought the Aetherblade was difficult but let me guess you were playing with all Ascended Trinkets + Exotics right? Of course……Go back to the Sky Pirates Living World Forums and read all of the pleas for them to Nerf everything about that dungeon. The Aetherblade dungeon is my favorite Dungeon in GW2. And yes I have the DM Title.
When I see warriors burst down Liadri seconds after going into P2, you can’t tell me that solo content like that isn’t easier by playing certain professions.
Regarding the Aetherblade dungeon, that actually had mechanics in there that were pass/fail. I was in countless pugs that kept on wiping due to running into moving walls and standing in fire circles during the last encounter. Gear can’t fix that.
I’m not sure why everyone is up in arms about new ascended gear. The stat upgrades are minimal at best.

That’s because we haven’t had much Ascended gear yet and thus the difference between Ascended and Exotics hasn’t been too great. But adding armor and weapons to the picture (that’s 8 total pieces of gear) will make a difference.
Besides, even if new content isn’t scaled to Ascended (almost an impossibility in my opinion), you’ll be shunned by other players for, for example, dungeons if you don’t have fully Ascended gear. You can easily do dungeons in Rare armor now, but try pinging your Rares in a dungeon group now and see how fast you get kicked.
But the biggest problem isn’t even the new tier of gear (which is bad enough), it’s that this new gear looks like it will be significantly harder to obtain than Exotics.
I’ve pugged hundreds of explorable dungeon paths and no one has ever asked anyone to ping any gear. The only place I’ve ever seen that was in CoF speed clears.
The worst thing I see happening is more solo achievements like Liadri 8-orb where it will be easier to complete with better gear (but even easier with different professions)… but i think those types of achievements are flawed from the beginning.

I want the option to view everyone (except yourself) as a human while in a match.
It would help eSports spectators too…. a common complaint is that they can’t follow what’s going on when it’s Asura vs. Asura.
I created my main minutes after launch.
I MAY have deleted him, then remade him to reserve the name asap (pretty sure that’s a thing). I don’t remember.
Other than that, I only reserved one name. I deleted that character and remade him sometime during the Christmas holidays.
I’ve logged onto every character I have…. still haven’t gotten the birthday presents for my main that just ticked 12 months old.
A lot of these forum users have a classic case of ‘scotoma’ (from the dictionary.. [psychol] a mental blind spot; inability to understand or perceive certain matters) or if you’ve seen The Da Vinci Code, “the mind sees what it chooses to see”. A good number of people do that here, going right over the blindingly obvious and throwing their own suggestions in without having read through the essential pieces of information.
Regarding the first birthday presents, I have received all mine (I made 8 characters on the day of release to people who got the headstart). Let’s re-read that again guys… the headstart people get their’s today… everyone else who did not get headstart access will be getting their’s on the 28th if they played from release.
Thankyou kindly.
Hi. I created my character within minutes of servers first going live.
I have not yet received my birthday present.
Something is broken.
I created my main as soon as servers were up during headstart. Still no birthday present..
If it weren’t for achievements, many people probably wouldn’t even bother with (most) of the living world content.
I’d rather get new weapon skins every three months that have a decent amount of effort put into them than what we’re currently getting now.
I am talking about the support tickets (the one use to get Kiel elected) not the gaunlet crap.
Or you could be glad that you participated in the content instead of complaining about a few gold lost.
it’s still five hours of content i don’t want to do, no matter how much time in between i take. and not only can i not access the new dungeon independently (again, i’m unlocking it for my guild) i can’t play other dungeons during this time, because i have to sit through the whole event because of how overflows work.
This sounds more of a social problem than a gameplay problem. If no one else in your guild is willing to unlock the dungeon, then it’s their fault, not Arena Nets.
Sorry if that comes off as harsh, but they could of just as easily required everyone to complete the requirements.
There are 336 hours that this content will be live (presumably). The events only last 45 minutes max. Times that by 5 you’ll get just under 4 hours. I’m sure you’ll manage if you don’t get too see all of the content tonight.
Plus you can group with others who have it unlocked already.
They were obviously fixing some portion of the game to improve your experience.
Get over it.
Couldn’t they have waited until after the event was over?
If I was working at Arena Net, I’d push out a new patch when it’s ready rather than spending another 40 minutes at the office (this late at night).
If you’re going to farm something that’s obviously not intended, then you probably should use the items up the items before they stealth nerfed them.
I saw this coming from a mile away.
No. You have 2 weeks to do this, and it happens every hour. Get over it.
This.
They were obviously fixing some portion of the game to improve your experience.
Get over it.
It isn’t like you guys have 2 weeks to complete these events or anything,
ohwai..
Maybe play the Gauntlet for fun? Try to get all of the achievements?
While I don’t know…
Just goes to show you how toxic the community can become when they find a good farming spot.
I went to Cursed Shores today just to take a peak at the ‘zerg train’ and the first thing I saw in map chat were people threatening others with reporting them if they didn’t cooperate with w/e they’re doing.
Why so much QQ? You can make more than 6.5g per day easily now! This is amazing for me, thanks Anet.
I can make 6.5g in an hour, lol. If it’s 6.5g a day that’s slow for me.
That’s a lot for the majority of the playerbase.
Only because they didn’t utilize the dungeon system prior to the update. This is not an improvement.
It’s an improvement for people who don’t grind the same path over and over.

Am I the only person who voted for Ellen Kiel because I thought she’d make a better council member than Evon Gnashblade?
If it someone that has grinded CoF or Orr for hundreds of hours, lucky drop, or spent 10g in the mystic forge…. no.
If it’s someone that’s saved up gold from genuinely loving the game, and has taken part of all aspects of it, then yes…. good on you.
For me it’s about how you got the item, not the pixels. I laugh at all the warriors running around with Twilight thinking how many hundreds of hours they spent in a single instance.
Just play the game, the $$$ will come naturally. I’m excited for the 6th, because it will reward me for playing a variety of dungeon, instead of farming just 1.
While a lot of people got their legendaries by farming Orr, or CoF, I bet they didn’t actually enjoy playing the game. The road to their legendary was filled with hundreds of hours of repetitiveness – I almost feel sorry for them.
I’m going to get my first legendary (hopefully) in August, and I can guarantee that I enjoyed the journey a whole lot more than the farmers.
If I had to guess, they didn’t want the ‘mini-game’ crowd to be stretched out too thin across all of the games. So they will only have one game active at a time to keep full-ish teams.
Why would ANET rig the election? They are the ones trying to collect data which character we want to see in the future.
It’s more about which fractal do we want to see in the future. Or are we so shallow that a WP discount can mesmerized us.
I don´t care about waypoints and I don´t care about fractals either. I only care about who I think would be a better captain. I´ll go with Kiel
This.
1000x this.
Does anyone really enjoy either the Crucible of Eternity or the Mad Asura fractal? Because I’m quite sure it’ll mostly just be more of that in the Thaumanova Reactor.
That’s one of my favorite dungeons, and my favorite fractal…
I honestly expect Kiel to win.
I have a handful of friends that aren’t really following the living story, they just log in and play. IE super casuals, which I would assume is the majority of the player base. I have asked them who they’re voting for, and they said the “human, lady, good guy”. . . They really don’t follow the living story, and don’t know much about Guild Wars lore, so I can see the casual playerbase voting for the more likable person. (likable as in you’d probably vote for this guy IRL if this were an actual election)
It’s not hard, it’s just time consuming.
I went with a 0/30/30/5/5 build for the last run where I did all 4.
What traits did you pick exactly, which offhand and utilities (meditations i assume?)? Full Berserker? Thanks for all the information you shared
And why 5 in honor? Virtues “Unscathed Contender” should work even better, no? Or is it too hard to not getting hit when standing at your proposed spot?
Is 20/30/20/0/0 also an option? For that 10% extra scepter damage i would happily drop monk’s focus…
I have not tested soloing yet, but if it works without getting aggroed by the veterans it simply seems to be a range dmg DPS race, isn’t it?
I ran 20/30/20/0/0 on my kill,
Was able to kill (most of) the adds w/o them moving at all
