Sry I thought you’ll just look for yourself cuz it was late and I was tired ^.^ Wasnt my intention to “be mysterious” or something. The point is, the damage and everything is weird, here’s what I got for you:
Static Discharge – how it really works:
Oh now I get it!
At least ONE part of it. It’s true that the instant cast skills deal half damage, but the reason why they didn’t on pupets is, because my char® automaticly stats firing with his rifle – means he’s doing somthing with cast time. If I equip a shield only, or simply disable the chain auto atack feature for the rifle, he won’t be able to attack and therefore does the weaker version of SD. So it seems a bit cross-bugged with the auto attack.
But now the question is, when will the normally strong static discharges become weak ones. MORE TESTINGS REQUIRED!

I think I got it now. There are 2 rules:
- SD will deal high damage while using toolbelt skills with a cast time, SD will deal reduced damage while using toolbelt skills without a cast time, aka instant skills (also no legendary animation).
- While performing an auto attack, during the cast time, rule one is reversed. So instant skills = high damage and cast time skills = reduced damage.

Btw there is another funfact affecting the static discharge. But this takes us back to the introduction of ascended gear.
Weapon damage doesn’t affect kit damage. That’s why ANet buffed the kit dmg by 5% if you are wearing an ascended or legendary weapon. What the connection is to static discharge? Well there is a hidden weapon damage while using a kit, wich is exotic like. I beleve it is that way because (now it comes
) static discharge deals less damage while using a kit than while using an ascended+ weapon. So if you want stronger discharges, stay on rifle lol!

well the shield is defensive and having no phantasm on it is totally fine by me, i just hope there will be no QQ from other classes wich gets us nerfed into the ground until release.
Rather than aegis I’d like to have invuln on mesmer dodge – so you can time your evades like aoe oneshots or something.

role? no definitly not. mass invis displaces and decives and protects one but bigtime! invuln mantra would simply be a timed 3 times aoe “evade” wich allows you to counterplay for example backstabs. two totally different roles my friend.

Oh my the new outfits in the gem store are really amazing for my mesmer. Even though, like everyone else, I don’t like to look like the others. I don’t like to use a full set of armor, I want to mix it up to create my own style. Why can’t you understand that – ANet – that we want some pieces of the outfits and mix them with out own stuff. Clipping Issues? No. It worked in my early days and it can still work now! If the clipping is too hard and ugly, ppl will simply not use the parts. But those outfits REALLY GRIND MY GEARS!

I doubt you would use the GS + Sword trait for a shatter build with those alternatives. I suggest to merge it with the sword mainly for PvE, because that’s where the mes traits lack atm. PvP, awesome.

you should check on how static discharge right now REALLY works :> it’s fascinating
it’s not about the cdr – it’s about the gs. in pve gs is garbage due to the low damage and being forced to be max range. and for pvp the other 2 traits are simply amazing compared to the gs trait. there is no need for this trait to be a GMT. better replace it with something USEFUL – fuse it with the sword trait for example!
you know defiance gets removed right? but i have to agree – 80% of the traits are for pvp and 19% are garbage and 1% are good for pve. there is just ONE grandmaster trait that is really useful in pve, 1 that is acceptable and 13 that are for pvp. i really wish they would balance the classes around the game (pvp / wvw / pve) and not just try to stuff the mes into the pvp only role. this really sux and right now i’m pretty unhappy with mes in pve. new traits are a part of it … disappointment yea :/ the other thing is the runes and sigil affection on phantasms… fairness op right?
yea this trait is pretty garbage. i never used the current gs one, and this one is even worse. 50 power 100 power, it’s the gs that sux, and for pvp there are better traits to take. so why bother anet? give us a viable pve trait, the other 2 are pvp enough.

It’s a QoL fix for mesmer in PvP and WvW but it’s so much needed for the PvE mesmer. Especially the first point is SOOOOO MUCH NEEDED right now, especially after the ranger runes ninja nerf …

They did remove that the trait grants a 3rd grenade. Yet 3 grenades is now default. The trait was stupid to increase your damage by 50% and I have to agree. Now untraited nades are 3 nades. Not sure what this means for grenade barrage though.
I have to agree – this traitline grandmaster traits suck pretty hard for pve mes. Actually all grandmaster traits except for duelling suck for pve mes. They have to change that. Especially Domination and Illusions. And a buff to glamour duration, wich seems lackluster for a GMT.
because of tw? long cd. quickness on interrupt? 50% more attack speed on weak attacks = lesser weak attacks. i think it’s balanced.
I think the new trait’s are gonna be great for pvp shatter / interrupt stuff. I really enjoy reading all these changes and the baseline things too.
But for PvE mes, there are almost no good traits there unless interrupting enemies becomes viable and confusion deals actual damage to them.
Except for dueling all other traitlines have NO GOOD PVE GRANDMASTER trait, wich sux.
They were joking about buffing it to eternity with bigger radius etc. But I think it’s gonna be some sort of aoe “daze”. Transformation isn’t really an engi thing, at least not like this. Shrinking or becoming invisible due a potion ok, but tornado or moa is just mage stuff and not engi stuff. I hate it when they share “exclusives”. It’s also a pretty cheap design too, “we had no idea what to do”.
I also think moa is cheap. “Yea turn them into a chicken” … wow – such design, much amaze … what really would be typical mesmer would be a 10 sec curse that randomly stuns, dazes and knocks an enemy around. Dunno why ppl love moa … sure it’s troll, but rather an april joke than a serious skill.

The cd isn’t even mentioned so theoretically it shouldn’t have an icd, but since this is out of the question it either has 10 sec back oder 32 like feedback.
They said at the stream that they screwed up the damage of confusion, it should be much higher. How it actually works, nothing mentioned.
It’ll be fun if it would let you damage allies with your skills :o
GM traits mean less now as you only get to choose 3 trait lines for 6/6/6.

I know you said at your stream the moa is just a template / nothing is final. But I just wanted to encurage you guys (ANet) to create something really engi style, rather than copying other profession skills. So right now it’s a 2 sec aoe moa transform right?
What would you guys like to see? What kind of engi style would fit most to this?
IMO I’d like to see some kind of EMP elixier, wich is noticable in mid air (something like red glow, so enemies have dodge counterplay) wich simply dazes all targets for 2 sec. Transforming is a mes thing, not an engi thing.

Lately I’ve gotten in a habit of exploiting ooc weapon swaps during phantasm casts.
You can also trait the pistol and untrait it so the icon gets swapped → duellist duellist swordsmen.
Works with any range / radius changing trait.
I’d rather say
3 phants = good
2 phants = acceptable
1 phant = low
0 phants = poor
Yet often 2 phants > 3 phants cuz sigil cast time is just too long. You deal more damage by phant swap phant aa (short encounter).
