There are many ways a player with low to no score can be the mvp of the team.

Seriously, learn to disengage :o

If your team looses, holding that one point against another bunker is just… stupid. Better to loose that one point, help out on another and come back later with another teammate and take it back in a few seconds, resulting in 2 caps, instead of 1.
THATS good gameplay, and carrying…. not afking on one point and saying “but I held close ALL of the match against this staff tempest”.

You kinda made my point for me. If you block too many players, you will end up with endless queues anyway.

And no, the reason for bad matches is the kitten mmr algorithm that forces a 50/50 win-loss chance on you. The better you play, the worse your teammates get and the better your enemies get. Until you reach such a level that you simply cant win anymore.
For this algorithm anything > 50% win rate is an unnatural state that it wants to correct by forcing you to play more and more challenging matches. Which in most games is a good thing, only Anet kittened it up and made it impossible matches instead of challenging ones, thanks to bad pvp balancing.

The only thing to do to counteract this is to team up with worse players mmr wise than yourself. It was like that ever since they implemented the current mmr system and only now with divisions you actually SEE the smurfing. But it isnt really anything new.

In other games, if something as kittenmurfing, or tanking, mmr gets abused…. it gets fixed asap.

In gw2? Well, IF you get lucky, you MIGHT get a fix for it 3 weeks after first complaints have been made about it.

Guess again why gw2 is laughed about in esports?

I wouldnt really call that abusing, since
a) player pool is way bigger than you obviously think,
b) any one player cant carry whole team anyway,
c) if you play bad you would be on THEIR blocked list, since you cant carry, according to your logic and
d) if you blocked too many, your queue time would take forever.

And lets be honest, how else to punish those that havent yet realized – after playing pvp at least to rank20 – that rushing far and dieing there five times in a row is NOT the way to win a game?
Atm, that guy actually gets carried by the system, thanks to wl mmr. He just looses until his mmr gets so low, the system practically throws a win at him and he will look at his statistic and think “Im good, I win 50% of my matches in solo queue”.
While someone with REAL knowledge about how to play his profession, how to predict enemy movements to prevent point capture, when to decap, when to cap, when to go for boss/buffs etc. sits there and ALSO has a 50% win rate, because as soon as he gets ahead of that 50% rate, he gets saddled with 4 far rushing rallybots until his rate is again at 50%.

So yeah…. I dont want to get matched with those players. I also dont want to get matched with that kitten from hotm mapchat spouting jew jokes and work with him to win a game. As I said, they are on my blocked list, because I dont want anything to do with them. They disgust me. And then having to work with them to win a match…. on top of all the other stuff that just goes wrong in gw2 atm, its enough to make me wanna quit this game and just say “kitten it”.

I think with that 10k drinks achievement and the huge amount of flipping that has been going on with said drinks and wintersday gifts on the TP, a lot of formerly not so tempted players got tempted to use a wintersday JP botting script.

Im not saying it is Anets fault… but maybe, in the future, this could be kept in mind when adding such achievements? Thanks.

So Anet should avoid adding difficult (or in this case time consuming) achievements because people might cheat to get them? What about the much larger part of the playerbase who do such achievements legitimately for the challenge or bragging rights?

People who cheat are going to cheat. People who are on the fence about cheating but are tempted to bot by a shiny skin/achievement/title might deserve a bit of a break to figure out their priorities.

Difficult to get isnt the same as mindless grinding, sorry. Ive grinded my way through that achievement. For me there was absolutely nothing difficult about doing that JP around 1k times. If anet had added other increasingly difficult things which reward more gifts according to rate of difficulty, and THOSE things had been botted, then yeah… Id absolutely agree with you.
But lets face it… wintersday JP is challenging for the first few successful tries, but after around the 100 mark, it just gets boring, and the REAL challenge is staying awake.
Forcing people to do it even though its no challenge at all anymore, just to get an achievement, sorry, but thats the definition of “grind”.

Difficult achievements for bragging? Now thats all what Im for. God, Id love to get some of those anytime again. But no, 10k drinks is NOT difficult. It is a grindfest.

For all those afraid now of a bit of a lagrun causing a ban…

Please remember, if you loose connection to server due to high ping, timeout, whatever… you can keep on moving on client side. As soon as you get a connection to server, the server will correct your position if you are too far from where you lost connection → you get ported back.

In case of wintersday JP, if your connection was lost for a long enough time, you died on server and get ported to beginning of JP.

Thing is… those “map points”… which btw is usually something to do with how pathing on virtual – or real – maps is being calculated… you cross during a lag run, you only cross on client, not serverside. The data Gaile Gray posted (29 in 60s) though is serverside

So no, a lagrun shouldnt result in a ban The time of mmo’s correcting client to serverside instead of vice versa are long gone.

Amount of Crowd Controls

I was at this point too, when I started playing pvp again after xpac pve rampage. I was like: what the kitten was anet thinking?!?!

Then I changed my build to include only one more stability skill, and added access to quickness once in a while, et voila… Im good again.
Also, a huge help was just playing the game and learning all those new shiny cc skills to dodge them.

Those cc traps from DH? Just dont move and you can outwait them, if you get pulled out -> use some form of invuln or dodge at end of pull and use heal.
DH wards? Well, those are tricky, since about 90% of the time, I dont even see them, making escaping them rather tedious. But thats a bug, not so much a balance thing.
Ranger goes Astral Form? -> dodge, since first skill to 99% is the daze or blind. Or play preemptive, cc druid before he can cc you… after all, druid access to stability is rather limited.
Scrapper field? Please, if you cant see that one coming a mile away, you really are bad. It has a HUGE telegraph.
Chill, taunt and fear can be annoying, but then, those are conditions as well as cc, so you get twice as much possibilities to remove them.

I feel like a huge issue with cc is, that a lot of players dont want to play a build that has focus on countering it (be it with own cc or cc breakers or via positioning), but only want to play oldschool dd thief.

Apropos… thief and warrior are the only professions atm that have the right to complain, since making a build suited to counter any current meta is impossible.
Dont get me wrong, thief and warrior can still rock…. just not against good players.

Class MMR and Division

Thing is, knowing basics in pvp matches has nothing to do with profession played.

Knowing when to rotate where, knowing when to disengage… knowing when to go for beast… knowing which skills to interrupt, when to attack and when to stow weapons… all things that help IMMENSELY. And have nothing to do with profession played.

But then, thats also stuff about 80% of gw2 pvp players dont know…. so whatever.

match making is doing a great job, but match prediction is not.

well match prediction is still kittened because as long as match prediction thinks you have at least 40% to win, you will lose 1 pip regardless of what score you get.

Actually, a BIG… and I mean really really big problem atm is teams tanking mmr and match MAKING not compensating for it.

Just group up with a lowbie, tank your overall mmr with that, get easy enemies and rake in the pips. If the divide is big enough, you wont loose more than one pip, but get 2 or more pips on a win. If you do that with a full premade, or even better… with a duo, you basically cant loose.

GZ ANET. You once again failed thinking things through.

I can think of at least 1 build per profession right now that can drop ele below diamond skin constantly without that much of a problem.

Easiest way to rake in wins atm? Create a new account, level to rank20 fast (rankfarm ftw), invite into your team and tank team mmr with it. You can rotate that duty easily.

Also broken: queueing with 3-4 man puts you either against 2 strong premades, or 1 strong 4-5 man premade. Whereas queueing as 2 man premade – even if you win all the time – puts you against less good groups 99% of the time.

How to abuse this? Easy, look for someone you play well with, play two meta builds and just win your easy games up the ladder, once in a while you get a loss, but most of the time you win… no 50/50 win chance there.

All things that are a result of a too bloated matchmaking algorithm not suited for a mix of casual players and pro players.

Has been that way since what… two years now? And everytime anet tries to fix one loophole, another opens up and gets abused.

Now you could say: everything was better while there was a solo Q, and you would be grossly wrong, because… then people would sync-join and sync-accept to get on the same team.

Anyway, you are alone and dont play well with others? One hot hint coming for you right here: log out as soon as you loose one game, since chances are, at that time, you will get matched with the same loosers over and over and over and over… you get my point.
Dont waste your time there except if you want to tank your mmr anyway. Whatever good it does.
And the same goes for winning of course. Keep on queueing until you loose. Since the pool of players is just way too small for that above mentioned complicated mmr algo, chances are good you get a winning streak for a few games, getting matched with and against the same core of players. Until you “level up” so to speak, then all bets are off. So dont log off before you milk that streak.

Did I forget something? Probably.

I play both, condi bers and condi engi. Damage-wise I wouldnt say they are that different. Skill-wise they definitely are.

If you want to get max dmg with engineer and run green circles, you have to really watch your skills cd and absolutely never get teleported, even though you have to get close to boss off-circle. With a condi bers its just way more relaxed to get close to the same numbers.

Mortar AA? Never used it, sorry. I use my time out of range of boss more productive, with seeker cc, helping healing up etc.

That being said… as a poor soul that has to pug raids… Id rather have a bad condi bers than a bad condi engi. At least condi bers usually cant knock seekers into melees and gets at least a decent 6k dps on boss.

The whole mmr system is flawed, has been flawed forever, will be flawed forever because anet is just incapable of writing anything but mediocre algorithms.

Having people afk botting spawn to get their stupid mmr down to take some kind of perceived easy route to legendary is just plain destroying this game.

It started with a reddit post yesterday, and has been gotten so kittening bad, I cant play more than 2 games without getting some kittened kid afk botting spawn on my team.

League should be RESET immediatly, mmr should be bracketed, forcing a higher mmr on you as soon as you move up in league.

But hey, its anet…. they havent even managed to balance elite specs properly since bwe3.

Hey all,

I know that some of you were thinking that we’d be releasing updates to fractals today, but that was not the plan. There’s still a lot of stuff coming in December — this is, after all, only the 1st of the month -- so hold tight and you’ll see the fractal changes soon!

Soon… yeah… I mean… it hasnt been over 2 weeks of waiting already for a fix to your BASIC currency.

But then.. at least NOW we know it will be THIS december, and not one of the next few years.

Druid has most heal and dps boosts. Both tempest and ventari lack:
- grace of lands dps boost
- glyph of empowerment
- spirits dps boost (currently bugged, but hey, maybe anet will fix it this year)

Tempest and ventari ‘might’ be on equal footing as a druid in regards to heals, but neither Tempest nor ventari can offer those unique dps boosts in addition to it.
Tempest has aura share and fury with it, but that’s already filled by revenants. Ventari… I dont even know a single unique dps boost that could be provided by it.

There’s magi ascended accessory from dungeon collections and magi trinkets exo from karma vendors in temples.

Atm Id run a mix of zerker and magi in a power based build, but only because spirits are broken.

Ontopic:
Im still not quite sure where to fit druid in raids. Atm, spirits are bugged and as soon as you have a chronomancer in squad, buffs from spirits get put on illusions first, instead of players or even group first. So that dmg buff kinda is meh atm.
Leaves 10% dmg glyph and grace of lands.
For a tank, druid just doesnt have enough CC, blocks, invuln… but on the other hand… keeping up AF is easiest done at boss.

The bigger picture that nobody is paying attention to here is the the culture of Anet employees harassing and bullying the players. Despite the fact that team leads and people you EXPECT to be protecting the customers are the ones involved.

Im sorry, but…. the bigger picture is actually more like this:
Anet started a pilot project, inviting two major guilds as representitives of at least a big part of gw2 community to do exclusive beta testing and influencing upcoming content, something that is NOT done easily and actually requires a lot of trust.
And instead of showing Anet what a mature community gw2 is, one of those guilds went ahead and started behaving very immature – and also very malicious.
I bet we wont see something like that again too soon, which I think is very sad.

To those pointing out that it was only one member of said guild… its not as if he is a trial member without any say in that guild, now is he. Personally, I think its saying A LOT about said guild, if one member thinks its okay to behave like that.

Got gold after a few hours trying, so its doable.

Like Basket of Boxes, I got my last one just in the nick of time.

A few hints, if not already mentioned:
- if you have a bad ping, dont even try
- if server is lagging due to update etc, dont try
- you can walk on lava for about 3-5 steps, use that and dont hammer interact as soon as it pops up, it will make it easier to position jump
- you need to follow a certain route, there are several, if you cant come up with one yourself, just follow what youtubers posted
- only use gliding when absolutely necessary, it actually slows you down
- use speedboost mushrooms wisely, they let you jump farther
- dont get poisoned

Hi,

I really enjoy most adventures so far, and shooting gallery is among my favourites.

But, PLEASE ANET, make it:
a) instanced and
b) available during all of daycycle.

Why you might ask? Well, here are the reasons:
Instanced -> because as soon as some charr enters the competition people start yelling at him to kittening make an asura or duck off.
Increased availability -> because as soon as you get the hang of it, mobs spawn and thats that.

Also, on a side note, would it be possible to instead of getting camera reverted when pressing play to default, to let it stay as it is? It always takes away precious seconds to get it back to first person. Which, if you think about it, is rather the preferred mode anyway for most shooters.

Anybody that thinks playing trap dh atm is not a HUGE crutch or even “difficult”, is just plain really really really really bad at playing spvp.

DH is so op its not even funny anymore. Utility, survival, dmg, range… all in ONE build.

Sorry, but even THIEVES never had that.

Retaliation is just fine. I love how I can kill myself with one skill on ele Its nearly as good as being the only profession that manages to spawn two fractal avengers by using downed skill meant to avoid stomping, thereby actually ensuring a stomp on either myself or… some poor soul that had the bad luck to get downed beside me ^^

I think some people can only read numbers and certain keywords. Otherwise I cant explain why people join a grp just to realize its not the kind of group they actually wanted ^^

I have to admit, I havent “pug’ed” in quite some time, but in the past I left it up to a majority vote. Even though I never quite understood why people wanted to kill mossman underwater on < lvl40, its a pug. If their decision isnt to my liking, I just leave.

You could ask nicely for them to do it without exploit, and if they dont want, you really only have two options: accept decision or leave.

Just… keep in mind, some fractal instabilities are really punishing on pugs, like boon on crit, condi on hit. Those stuff you can deal with rather easily by adapting builds and playstyle in a static group, are not so easily done with 5 random people put together by an lfg tool Hence the wish to make things foolproof.

Its to gear for RAIDS, since raids are gonna be the all-new-hype-train-inc content with a wildly astonishing array of necessary builds for every profession.

So you see, you will at least need three different variations of gear for raids:
- healer/support
- condi
- zerker

But tbh, and this is said without any sarcasm, you usually get enough mats to craft your ascended gear in reasonable amount of time, doing fractals. So there is your progression.
And, dont forget, you’ll need ascended gear to salvage it too. So its not all as black and white now

So, it seems to be VERY latency sensitive. AND you have to HOLD the second part of skill 2, at least I have to.

Still, about 50% of the time, skill just doesnt work at all, either jumping only a tiny bit up or simply not firing at all.

That skill behaves really really unreliable for me too. You really have to be extra careful to set your groundtarget perfectly, or it just wont work at all.

Since rewards were nerfed, there will be less revenue into the TP which could bring some of the prices down. Besides, there are plenty of other things to do instead of mindlessly farming & exploiting a dungeon which has potential to be more difficult.

You are absolutely correct. Like mindlessly farming events and mats. Exploiting fractals instead of dungeons is also sooooo much better.

As to your hope that less rewards means cheaper items on tp, I rather pity you for that naivity.
Those players that have gold above threshold will be able to control tp prices even more than before, those below threshold will slowly be drained dry. The only thing radically reducing gold rewards did, is change that threshold and make it even more difficult for players to make the jump into that “upper” region.

MMO economics is like real economics on crack, everything happens in fast motion, changes have bigger impact, people take more risks and a lot is controlled by emotions instead of rational.

Before dungeon nerf, I made 20g each evening in about 2-3 hours.

Now I get around 10g doing the fractals for the same amount of time.

Before dungeon nerf I had the option of doing dungeons and fractals.

Now I only can do fractals and get even less because dailies are already done.

But hey, at least I now got enough ascended recipes to fill up my bank space again.

What was it again they announced precursor crafting as?

Ah yes:
An epic journey, a completely new design, a fun scavenger hunt.

My reality atm?
Farm mats after spending hours on bugged events.

Congrats anet. You’ve done it again. Taken a pretty perfect concept and just destroyed it.

And why? Because you want to keep your precious legendaries rare.

Newsflash: they arent. Most gw2 players have at least one, a LOT have at least 3 or more.

Disenchanter and nullfield are enough.

Feedback, disenchanter/defender/pain mantra, nullfield, timewarp.

Havent touched chronomancer yet, but those 4 skills get you through 70s easily.
