I can barely load LA or move about it as is… so I hardly use it for RP. I go back to Divinity/Queensdale for RP. If I had a better machine I would start RP in LA.

My Ele is supposed to be 40 as her RP states she has had twins and one surviving at the age of 20 atm (my guardian is the twin daughter of the fraternal twins). If you see her image in the Then and Now, thread, she looks very young for her age, yet its the only one of 2-3 Canthan faces I could get without spending hours on the character creation.

By the voice acting for females, they sound much older than 20s. Maybe mid 30’s

I can never load Lions arch properly, I get a 5-10 minute load screen and then all the environments and stuff needs to load including my model.

I’m the opposite, I’m getting better drops everywhere!

The jump puzzle at Pearl Islet way point just gave me this post update! I got only blues and greens (and maybe a yellow orb or crest).

Even before with the last maintenence, I’m getting more greens and yellows than ever before.

Evey tried mystic forging your junk? Its very profitable if you get blues to greens and greens to yellows. Once you get yellows sell at the TP or salvage into ectos/ori

I’m serious! Pre-update, there were 4 skelk nests, and now the tents and stuff are moved over one of them and the other two are gone. Now though the consortium barrels work and drop the event items though.

Its like they do not want us to farm the skelk or that event for gold.

I think they Nerfed the Consortium Item gathering event on Pearl Islet as it was too easy to do and had Reef Skelk that could be farmed for powerful bloods.

On top of this we need a griefing report option. Like people that afk at collection DEs trying to make them take longer for others.

If they release it, hope its re-imagined sets from GW 1. Elite Sunspear for light armor types please!

Apparently in Gendarrian and Queensdale I’m getting loot from champions and vets I got a lv 80 yellow spear gun form the champion wasp. I’m also getting reports of exotics dropping in the lower level areas from random creatures and bosses.

Also young karkas dropped 5 greens in a two hour farm and in a smaller farm the night before, 1 yellow and a few greens.

I have no idea what you guys problems are, farm other areas?

You must complete event and then let him finish his bets. Then you can use it.

I just found out that this problem and the TP not working properly ( … in the Gems area is a clear indicator of this with a blank sell screen) are directly related, if you have to completely exit out the game to fix that you have to end task the process. If the TP is working fine and you exit out completely, the game closes normally and you don’t have to end the process.

Every sever huh? Well, its in Tarnished coast as well! So I’m not going to get that done anytime soon anywhere. Might as well just do the story or something.

I don’t understand the terminology and only know what parts go where. Knowing me, I’ll buy parts that Don’t work/Don’t need/Don’t fit and waste money I could just spend on a pre-made rig. I, like many, think higher number, etc. are better and not what has to fit just right in the most perfect scenario.

I understand user level stuff like troubleshooting program issues and the like. I want to be a programmer.

PSU is the power supply? It doesn’t say what it is or anything? And how would I know what to match for the Processor and Graphics?

Provided I can can afford even the lesser one…(the second) will they play the game with no issues (culling, rendering objects, slow area loads).

I’m hoping once I find work and get my first paycheck and if I sell all my old trading cards, I could get enough to buy one of these.

Right now I’m on a horrible HP Pavilion 2000 Laptop that has a 1.68 ghz dual core process and an HD 6320 with 2 gb video memory (discrete) and 4 gb ddr3 memory (up to 8 I can install)

I think its my processor that’s the problem, so I only need a better processor and not a better graphic card.

Best armor is orr karma vendors or dungeons as only PVT (Power/Vit/Toughness) is useful in game. You can’t craft those stats, ever!

Look how cute and young looking she was then it was like she grew up and older as time went by… It was merely by accident that I did that.

I want its to return as my RP is riding on it as every one of my characters are Canthans (yes we have like 2-3 faces to use and many adjustments to make some very accurate Asian looks). I fell in love with it in GW 1 as I love all types of Asian cultures and not just one (Japanese) or another (China/Korea.) I also eat seafood voraciously when I can, and I like how those three cultures prepare it along with other foods and I can eat almost anything, also their spiciness of their food is decent. I love how their peoples dress and look visually as well. If I could go back to China in my lifetime and also visit the other two nations, I would. GW 1’s Factions was the closest thing to remind me of my life experiences. Not having Cantha in GW 2, would be a shame to all its fans.

I just don’t like Cantha just because I’m being some random anime nerd/Asianophile fan-type idiot that people throw around to troll others that I always hear in chats in both GW 1 and even 2 (bunch of bigots). I been to at least one of the nations portrayed in the mixing that Factions had and I am a history lover and enjoy other cultures and whatnot. So I have every right to like other cultures. I’m not misguided or misinformed either, and I’m a white guy. HA!

To be one-sided with just your own culture (American?) is just bland and being uninitiated in life.

Rares are lv 35 (iron), 50 (Steel), lv 65 (darksteel) and lv 80 (mithril). Buy via master of the craft you’re doing.

I explain how leveling up items in the forge and rarity promotion works.

Precursors are always lv 80. So you’d have to get a roll to get 80 exotic back and not 75-79. Second you have to roll for rarity promotion. If it ends up to yes, you get a precursor, if no, its any other exotic.

74 though does have a high chance of being lv 80 after so its all a matter of getting the roll for Precursor.

Ever tried using mystic forge stones to replace one exotic?

I already spent $75 on gem cards currently (two make overs and 50 fine stones and 2 storage panes). What I’m probably going to do in the next 2 years career wise will probably give me enough money IRL to do anything I want game wise. Yet I’ll probably see if there is an in game way to get all the legendaries easily for my characters before I stoop that low.

$2000 isn’t hard to acquire and spend if you really don’t require much in needs in life.

I don’t drink alcohol, smoke or drink coffee, so that could save me or anyone more than enough a year to buy a single legendary if you add up how much would be saved in a year from not drinking or smoking or going out to eat or anything.

This is all saying if certain savings methods are applied.

A non smoker saves $1500 a year. Not sure how much you save not buying beer/alcohol ever.

Every server has this problem not just yours, and yes it causes instability in that area.

Use it on another alt and level them up with crafts so you can make it on them.

Now what happens if You use a donation packaging or nay wild card item like mystic forge stone?

The formula for Lionguard Lynn’s commendations is as follows:

Average level (rounded up) / total items used (3 always) +1-6 = forged level /10 (round up again) then x a rarity multiplier.

Rarity multipliers are as follows: (might need to confirm this from wiki research I found)
basics: x 0.5 (4 80s give 4)
Fine: x 1.0 (4 80s give 8 )
Masterworks: x 1.5 (4 80s give 12)
Rares: x 17.5 (4 80s give 140)
Exotics: x 75 (4 80s give 600)
Ascended: x ? (can you even combine 4 ascended rings/backs/earrings/ or amulets?)

so 4 80s at fine rarity always will give 8 commendations! Not bad for junk.

So, how do mystic forge stones work?

We all know they are used to make a mystic salvage kit using 5 of them but what happens if you use one as a placeholder for combining random junk?

What could happen is that the stone takes the place of the highest level item in your combination to increase your odds of getting a higher item and higher rarity.

This could really help in getting a precursor.

I love playing around with the Mysitc forge, buying cheap equipment and throwing them in and see what comes out.

Despite being almost completely random, (save specific recipes for legendaries and named exotics) there is a few constants when combining things.

According to wiki the forge follows these rules:

All four items must be same rarity/color.
All must be same type besides some execptions:

Equipment (weapons/armor)
Accesories (rings/backs/amulets/earings(accessory) )
Dyes
Upgrade components: can be interchanged, but must match rarity. (gems,orbs/marks,talismans,crests)
Exceptions: must be the same type and rarity
-Sigils (can’t put superiors into the forge due to an old exploit)
-Runes (can’t put superiors into the forge due to an old exploit)

Level output after throwing stuff in:
WIki states that if all four items are same level, you will get an item that will be 1-12
levels higher.

total level of all 4 / 4 = level of item you get

4 80 fine swords = 320 /4 = 1 lv 80 fine or masterwork sword.

4 random weapons lv 80 will still give you a lv 80 at same rarity as input or one step higher.

Zommaros may even give you an even lower level item if the average between all four is lower than a single item used. So its wise to use four equal level items in the forge.

Example 3: I have four weapons and armor of levels, 14, 78, 80, and 34 all fine rarity. Adding them up gets me a total level of 204. Dividing it out by 4 yields 51.5 and the game probably floors it so it ends up rounding down to 51. You’ll get a fine or masterwork of lv 51 and possibly between lv 57 and 45 +/- 1-12 (thanks lures!) levels.

Rarity of output item:
Its based on RNG but there is a given for what you might get.
Basics are lv 1-80
Fine are lv 1-80
Masterworks are lv 14-80*
Rares are lv 35-80*
Exotics are lv 62-80*

*there is an exception that occurs here for these when combined.

To get a higher rarity (for basics and fine only) the average of all four levels combined must be in the range above for a possible rarity except for Masterwork to rare.

A Upgrade RNG roll is then produced and possibly matched to a threshold range. Wiki said something its a 20% chance for upgrades from masterwork to rare. Yet my tests indicated its somewhere between 5% and 1% using 20 greens and also 100 greens.

If the roll becomes true, you get rarity upgrade, and if the level is too low on the average level of the four items used, the level is multiplied by 4 and then add 1-12 if still too low. (see exception #1).

Exception #1: The exception with masterworks is that it has such a vast range for levels to be found in the wild. If you do combine any level of masterworks you will get a rare no matter what if the RNG says you are getting a rare as long as you match levels.

I took four random lv 14 Masterwork items (dagger armor dagger and focus) and threw them in. I got a Rare lv 53 Mending Norn Spear of Earth. Lucky huh? That’s a whopping +39 levels from the base items used!

What might have happened here is that the game multiplied the level by 4 and added Rnd (1-12), 4 × 14 = 52 + 1 = 53. This can occur probably for rarity promotion on very low level items. I will need to do more research. This seems to happen if you average level of stuff combined is below lv 23 as the minimum level of a rare is 35 and the forge adds on a maximum of 1-12 (median is 6) levels to an item you get after calculation.

The same principle can be used in getting exotics from rares. Yet lowest level returned for level promotion must be 54.

Exception #2: Exotics to named (and possibly precursor) Exotics

The last exception to the rules is promoting exotic to named exotics and also precursors.

Following the above formulas and theories, it is surmised that you must use 4 exotics that average out to be lv 70 or higher. Thus, you will get a lv 70 + 1 to 12 levels exotic possibly a lv 80 and named or precursor.

There you have it folks, the whole mystic forge explained.

In the skale tagging event, trying to tag the skale will almost always cause the game to lag and disconnect.

I lost out on the exp, karma, and coin because of it.

Alright, so as far as the title points out, why is there no “sitting” action in GW2? Don’t get me wrong, GW2 is a fantastic and amazing game, but I was a bit disappointed at the fact that we can’t sit on chairs or stools. Imo, it would have made the drinking experiences in bars of towns of GW2 more innovative and immersible.

That’s just what i think though…

How about you guys? Any thoughts in it?

GW2 does have a large community of those who RP and obviously, with all the cosmetic gear, people who really value the look of their characters.
I was really surprised when they didn’t have chairs to actually sit in when the game went live.

I think in order for this to be accomplished, all the stationary objects (chairs, barstools, etc) would have to be converted to interactive object… which could be quite the task.

As much as I love these little touches in a game (and think they are a must-have in an MMO), I don’t know how likely it is we’ll see something like this anytime soon

They can do a find/replace… in their environment building can’t they?

A book series I am trying to work on, Semathia is my series’ planet’s name and the continent-nations are usually named after their Gods, where before they were asscended to become gods, were born at. The planet is named after the Head Goddess Sema, but not one nation is named after her. The closest thing to the goddess’s birth location is Galmia, who is named after her companion when she was mortal and who also is a Goddess now as they were both born in that icy continent.

I for one do not do the mass confusion on world-region naming.

Also I use earth as an element in the story, yet they would have no notion of that word in their reality, it probably would be some other word in their language or common tongue person to person.

Its like our elementalist females saying they use earth when attuning, but in their world, they are speaking New Krytan. Earth has no meaning to the people of Tyria. What the real word for earth (or any element for that matter) we will never know.

In my case, I use a ancient language (that I am trying to make up, tall order I know.) that is sort of dead like Latin, and called Hiensall (written tongue). Its has an alternate symbol set like New Krytan that can be used for Latin (English) letters. and has become commonly used to express a world business language, like what we do in real life for English (and sometimes French).

I can see where you are all coming from and it was far simpler for Anet to go, “We have a different language in our world and its not English, but for the sake of simplicity, It is treated as such for your eyes viewing in.” instead of making a whole new language a la Star Wars level of complexity and have subtitles everywhere.

Y’all really are daft. I play a support guardian. I use 5/6 giver’s gear in combination w/ my runes and traits. When my protection procs I usually sit at roughly 8-25 seconds of it depending on which proc gives the initial buff.

Buy my exotic level insignias. They are already in the TP at 2 g 99s 31c each and make the gear. I’ll make it cheaper if you want just to avoid taxes and buy it off me in mail system.

I am a title hunter like in GW 1, so I tend to try to get all of them done. Dungeons will be almost impossible now with horrible players and my horrible computer. I still have over 900 or 4900 (depending on how many tiers on it) giants to kill. There are only 2-3 hostile giants (all champions and events) in the game and risen don’t count.

I like the dailies only as Its all about what I can do on my crappy machine every day besides farm Southsun Cove for shells/flowers/ore. I can’t WVW do fractals or PVP. I can hardly do dungeons save AC which I know how to do by heart now. Should I run AC 100 times for my monthly? Not with horrible pugs and people that still skip enemies and get us killed due to the new no res-zerging fix (which I love btw) I won’t.

There is a sound for party invites too, and its also very faint.

How many love it on Humans? Asura? Charr? Any race? What about gender?

I would love to hear you all out about this nice new emote we didn’t have on GW 1.

Mine as you probably seen in other posts, is, /Cheer on Female Humans. Its just adorable!

I don’t know about April’s voice over for gw 1 and 2, I mean, my characters were/are supposed to be Canthan and in GW 2 sound much lighter tone/girly than the deep voice we had in both games for female. The only voice sound I think fits is /cheer and /laugh especially that cute “YAY!” the female human does when cheering occasionally. If we were allowed to pick a single sound off, it would be that for my female humans when they /cheer.

The deep female voice over fits more for most warriors and guardians (not mine) and not so much beautiful more charismatic types such as ele and mesmer.

I haven’t played my Male Human Ranger that much but he seems ok so far.

The only one I like is when a female on my account does /cheer and goes “Yay! ^-~” just that cuteness involved makes me melt and continue to play.

The rest of the female voices for humans are too deep.

I seem to get at least one rare a day. no matter what it is: elemental slivers, armor, orbs, a weapon I don’t need, crests, etc. I also use the Mystic forge to make yellows from greens and Blues. Blues>Greens>Yellows.

I made my money (20g) making givers inscrpitions/insignias (ecto from the yellows I find/make) and upgrading materials to tier 5 and 6 and selling them.

I never find materials I need when I go farm for them though and that what I need not yellows, greens, blues, white or even junk.

I still have leather worker and huntsman to finish on another alt and the materials I am not paying for on the TP.

I’m male (Surprise! My username is my old GW 1 Ele’s name for legacy). I Use both Female and Males, usually all human save one Asuran male thief. I do it for role-play and I can RP both genders effectively. My distribution among 6 character slots is 4 female, 2 male/5 Humans, 1 Asura. I can’t stand Sylvari since they changed from the original concept to the more plant like appearance and oh God, the voice acting!

Charr, I just can’t see myself as a furry character. Norn I never could stand Norn in gw 1 and i can’t make a pretty female Norn or bad kitten male one without looking too Mr. Universe/ Arnold-like in terms of muscles.
