Yeah but its still the same pretty much.
Not really.
based on this how to be skilled thief= sequence 5,2,1,1,1,1,1 or F1,5,2,1,1,1,1,1
it is just too effective cooldownless AoE blind+stealth/damage/gap closer/opener in 2 keys wanna run from said thief? Nope number 3 skill is cooldownless shadowstep gg
Do you think you can replicate that vid?
3 and 8 are so feminine.

Yes, we should cater to bad players.
No offense, but the skill level of the medium thief on Guild Wars 2 is incredibly low, so right now we are already kneeling to the needs of bad players.
My first pg on Gw2 was a thief (you know, I played an infi for years on Daoc), and I’ve to say that is one of the dumbest classes in the history of MMOs, seems created just for people without brain (and this is the reason why I don’t use it anymore).
You do not like reality? Amen, but if you think you need skill to use a thief, I can only laugh thinking about your ‘funny’ concept of skill ;-)
And you guys think rotations takes more skill than resource management? See that’s one of the 3 greatest reasons why most of you who are complaining are called ignorant and then trolled.
Reason #1: Rotations vs resource managment.
Spamming heartseeker might seem “cheap” and “unskilled” but firing off 143255`5423` repeat (my take of the guard GS/H rotation) is just as mindless if not even more. But here is the difference… not only does my guard keep damaging, but it also controls the enemy until is switch back to GS where I refresh my boons and continue attacking. My thief spamming heartseeker, however, would be more of an initiative waste the more hp you have. Until then, I would be using heartseeker as a gap closer and save my initiative for Black Powder or something else that will keep myself from being chain-controlled. That is resource management and I have to keep doing that on the fly. TL;DR More is involved with resource management than with rotations.
Reason #2: Telling people with experience from a very inexperienced point of view
Metaphorically, you are a janitor telling a governor how his job works. :I We know how the thief works. You don’t.
Did anyone ever think about how utility-heavy thief weapon skills are? No, because they’ve never played it. Did anyone think that maybe the reason why thieves spam 1 of their 5 skills is because the rest are either weak or costly? No, because they’ve never played a thief. Did anyone ever think that out of those 5 weak/costly weapon skills that perhaps at least ONE of the skills focused on damage with a no utility and a slightly reduced cost making it the ability to spam for damage? No, because they’ve never played a thief.
That is why we say “L2P, roll a thief”. There is NO EXCUSE NOT TO.
Reason #3: I L2Ped while you kept QQing.
Example:
I was once getting completely owned by mesmers left and right. By rolling one and getting him up to at least 40 I found out why. Signet of Domination > Phantasmal Duelist > Magic Bullet > switch to GS > Phantasmal Berserker > Mirror Blade > Mind Wrack > switch to s/p > repeat.
Once I figured that out, I carried Blinds, Tripwire, 2 stun breaks and Thieves Guild. Killing them seemed like a joke compared to before because I ……………………… (wait for it)……………………….. learned to play.

“I recently got pwned by a thief and do not have the potential to better myself. Instead of practicing with friends or learning about the class, I just scream OP all over the forums until anet gives that class a nerf. I require outside assistance to get by in competitive gameplay. I also refuse to read this article.”
Your welcome.
Notice how anyone who says “L2P; roll a thief” still mains a thief. Hmm.
Oh and btw, how’s that Pistol Whip revert coming along guys? Did it lose traction when thieves lost their OP-only, FotM players or when people realized it didn’t need to happen?
Question: If you had no clue how to build a space rocket, would you still tell a rocket scientist how to build a rocket? That’s the problem with you people… you guys don’t have a clue.
I surely believe so. Just the other night I had both with caesar dressing, white cheddar and garlic butter croutons. Best dinner ever.
Are you a Charr? :P
3 out of my 5 characters are Charr. My main is human.

I like this thread and post. From what I take out of it, d/p is easier then d/d. But that really does not matter, have fun and roll norn!

Yes, we should cater to bad players.
WoW stealth is visible and requires you to make use of positioning to avoid detection mechanics.
Not sure what your point is. That “requirement” is extremely miniscule. To the point where it can easily be ignored by the rogue player and he will still be able to succeed in play. So all your really saying is that they can’t sit immediatly in front of you and avoid detection.
edit: And with that miniscule requirement, there are still plenty of “stealth is OP” threads.
From scrubby players who refuse to better themselves.
As you can tell from the last few updates on thieves, Anet probably is getting tired of nerfing the same thing over and over again which is why all we’ve been getting lately are tooltip polishings and MAYBE 1-2 buffs. Perhaps anet is starting to see the problem stems from the complaining players and not the profession itself? You guys ever thought of that?
You mean these things?
nvm

1.Stealthed players take double damage
2.stealthed players lose stealth upon attacking (at least when they hit a “Blocking” or “Invulnerable” or “Evade” player.
3.become unable to instantly restealth afterwards.
4. get focused as target once they lose stealth
5.20-30% movement speed Decrease while stealthed
OKAY and where is the balance now?
Besides the taking increased damage, all of those except 4 are mechanics that exist in basically every other game that has stealthing in pvp and most of those also have methods of detecting stealthed characters too. 3 already exists, 4 makes perfect sense if you had them targeted before, they didn’t break line of sight, and you didn’t target anything else. 2 is something that shoulda been fixed about revealing yourself from stealth a long time ago, there’s no risk in spamming backstab on somebody until it lands as it has 0 cost and currently you remain stealthed until it ACTUALLY lands. The current mechanic makes it impossible for somebody to take advantage of blinding you, guessing when you’re going to strike, using an aegis or any other block (which are on much higher cooldowns than reveal). Currently as far as I can tell the only real defense against a backstab is endure pain as the hit actually lands but the damage is converted to 0.
Its called moving.
So I should spin in a circle and pray you backstab my face so you do less damage? Thieves currently outrun anybody while stealthed.
If you are that bad of a player, sure, go ahead. While you are getting pwned, here is some reading material for you.
Yup, I’m so bad I can’t hack to have faster movement speed than the fastest class. Stealthing in gw2 is simply the dumbest mechanic design in a functional game in history. The only dumber thing they could do with it is make it also an invuln. If you don’t think it needs to be completely revamped into something with a real skill cap then you must be another d/p scrub.
Read that article and you’ll see exactly what’s wrong with stealth.

Would you like to hear how many times I have died to a solo thief on my ranger? It might surprise you. The answer is 0. Why? Because they are so darn predictable once you play one
No, it’s because BM rangers are incredibly strong in 1v1.
That’s bullkitten. d/d conditions kitten s them.
EDIT: Thanks Kiro. I totally forgot this thread existed.
With the upcoming ascended weapons/armor I would like to know if there will be infusions that mimic the sigils and runes we use for our gear. If not, will the infusions be limited to the regular stat ones that we use for trinkets?
Personally, I hope anet designs infusions with completely new effects. Perhaps they could create infusions that add some visual effect instead of a stat boost or a damaging effect. It could be nice to add visual effects like turning your projectiles into ice shards and whatnot.
EDIT: Would like a dev’s word on this pls

I got a better idea… how ’bout the devs main a thief for once?
Why is this still up?

I just recently got addicted to southern pecan pie. So delicious.

Yeah well I had to play other cheap classes to learn how to beat them. No excuse NOT to do that, Burnfall 2.0.
Here are professional game balancer David Sirlin’s thoughts on “cheap classes” and those who make such accusations. (Can’t remember who linked to this the other day, but thanks! It wasa great read.)
Already read it. Facts are none of the classes are cheap once you know how to handle them. For example, I kept getting ripped apart by mesmers in wvw until I made one and played with everything. Now I can almost safely guess a mesmer’s build by highlighting them.
Again, no excuse.
How come every other class in the game can’t do what a thief does with stomping/reviving?
Because every class is not the same and they have differing roles? By your line of thinking every class should be able to do everything every other class can do with the same degree of capability. The thief is a rogue/assassin archetype that excels at picking off single targets, it only makes sense that they should have the best options when it comes to finishing wounded opponents. Your post is just as misguided as those in the thief forum complaining that they suck in zergs and die constantly when they try to mindlessly stack on the commander at the front of the hammer train.
Every other class has a different role yet the thief has access to cheap mechanics that are unstoppable?
Shadowstep stomping
Zero reveal on stealthing, dmg, cc etc does not reveal stealth
PERMANENT stealth with d/p thieves..None of the other classes has that
Unlimited access to a weapon skill with zero cool down to bypass cc and immobilize..NONE of the other classes has that.
Stealth stomping=completely nullifies some down states
Access to the ability to Always initiate combat on the thieve’s terms over and over again
Ability to reset the fight unlimited times till they win or run away with zero consequence
Zero cool down on weapon skills. Why is the thief the ONLY class that has zero cool down on weapon skills and can spam the same weapon skill repeatedly?
Do any of the classes have access to all of the above? No..
It’s a funny excusesaying every class is unique bordering on the usual ‘L2P’ spouted by baddy thieves.
No worries..ppl will roll more thieves and thus others will quit the game thus affecting Anet/NcSoft’s cash flow and then they will act. By then, ESO is out.
Great decision by the bad devs -who came up with the most broken stealth mechanic in the history of the world- to continue to support this broken system against mass protests. Or maybe they can’t deal with it..I favor the latter.
Thieves need to be fixed or people not willing to play a cheap class did, are and will keep quitting.
Yeah well I had to play other cheap classes to learn how to beat them. No excuse NOT to do that, Burnfall 2.0.
I have gotten crap 50 times in a row. Is that RNG?
It’s probably because every other player near you is in Berserkers so you get the unlucky straw, trust me I am pretty much always in a similar situation due to my build/gear. You have to be good enough to survive the damage and be ready to pull out and away fast.

Why? What is the point to be a thief and do not use Stealth?
Because ppl says that’s OP?
Why do you care about those whiners, if they’re just incompetents who can’t see that there is other methods to counter it, or just leveling up a thief and play with him instead
(that would be my choice)I main a thief. I am depressed because my people are not enlightened and im lonely as kitten.
Ohhh so choosing to not use a major profession mechanic because people complain about not liking it = enlightened? I learn something new every day……
I do well without using stealth. I know how to play without using stealth. That is the enlightened part
My eyes hurt. Wtf OP?

Commander > Captain.
Make it 50g and a dull grey dorito and I would definitely buy it.
Sorry to burst you bubble but only in CoD is Commander > Captain,
That is just the Navy. In the Army, Marines and Air Force the title “Commander” is given to the officer in charge of the Battery/Cavalry/Company, Batallion, Brigade, Garrison, etc. Usually, the “Commander” is a Captain+ depending on the size of the unit he/she leads.
The difference between the two is “Captain” is just a rank. “Commander” has the authority to lead a unit as they see fit. A Captain can’t just pull people from other units without talking to the unit’s Commander first.
:)
0/10 because i wanna feel like simon cowell.

Then stop playing. Let the cheaters cheat on eachother.
I’m all in favor of an ‘I surrender’ option where you die, the enemy gets their reward, and you can return to a WP and get on with the game.
Updated for clarification. Successfully killing yourself in the downed state will remove all credit from everyone before Defeat. Nobody will rally off of you, nobody will get loot, nobody will get xp. MAYBE get half points in PvP but otherwise nothing happens except for your repair bill.
That would be prone to abuse by spiteful losers. If you’re beaten, then whoever beat you deserves their reward, regardless of whatever personal feelings you might have about that.
If someone already has you targeted, then they deserve to rally off you when you die/surrender. If they don’t have you targeted, then using the ‘I surrender’ option means you’re completely out of the combat before they get the chance to rally off you. Both of these sound like good solutions.
You aren’t beaten until defeated. The whole point of downed/rally is to give the player the opportunity to go down fighting or a second chance if circumstances permit. Its severely unpolished and alot of people complain about the downed state because of how horrible its designed. The reasons why I am suggesting it this way is because:
1.) Regardless of skill level/profession, if you get downed in the wrong spot you are dead anyways.
2.) DownrallyX3dead is annoying, pointless and somewhat punishing.
3.) Killing yourself will keep you from becoming a benefit to your enemy, thus helping your team. Again, you are going to die anyways. Might as well do your team a few favor.
