You can save yourself the burden to write any saga and go directly reading the patchs notes since August 2012, you can then compile a list of nerfs for guardian/ele and thief…compare them and see for yourself which profession will come out on top as the most nerfed..ty
I don’t need to. As far as im concerned guards don’t have much room to talk. Thieves don’t have NEARLY as good healing or damage mitigation capabilities as the guardian and ele.
Instead we have stealth, dodging and blinds which are all DAMAGE AVOIDANCE. Avoiding doesn’t work all of the time, mitigation does. Guards don’t have to worry so much about evading because you got great access to regen, protection, blocks, condition cleanse (kittenloads of it) and plain healing (kittenloads of it).
EDIT: Let’s not forget the that anet stopped messing with the thief class so much a few updates ago. All we’ve really been getting are tiny changes, 1 buff/1 nerf and aesthetic polishes.

What is going to stop the scrubs from sucking?
I want my profession to have pet skritts that steals peoples money and F2 and F3 are labeled “Steal shinies!” and “Gimme shinies!” respectively.

Stealth is touchy. If they make a stealth counter they run the risk of invalidating thief as a class, and thieves have it almost as bad as Rangers in terms of balance across the game modes. It’d be like if they made it so rangers shared health pools with their pets in SPvP. If they try to buff them out of stealth to compensate, they run the risk of losing the class’ uniqueness. (Also stealth traps are for stealthed zergs, not duels)
As for Retal. It was supposed to be used reactively but now it’s more an attrition effect. Maybe if they made it stack intensity instead of duration and rebalanced the damage scaling, it’d be closer to its vision.
Oh and boon strips and steals are on Necros, Mesmers and Thieves, Cannon’s tier 1 upgrade, and Sigil of Nullication.
As far as I know, thief doesn’t lose 40% of his DPS because of his class mechanic…
You are right. Thieves are useless in stealth until stealth wears off or we attack.
I did that mainly to introduce a new way of calculating damage and I don’t think its really complicated at all. All it does is calculate damage as though the target has 1500 armor.
But I see what you are saying. I didn’t make this apply conditions because alot of the players out there are playing in their -40% duration suits and having a weak skill apply conditions would only add this attack to the trash list.

You know, you could have saved yourself and a whole lot of people a lot of time if you’d just written “L2P imbeciles!”, because that’s pretty much what your post boils down to. just do something about exploit of permanent invisibility thife camping bay 3 AM. 2 of them was from a guild TIME. all there was doing was camping bay inner and permanent invisibility in the smoke if the other enemy and fsp take bay back, there just waiting for the buff to get off then 3 men is soloing 2 thife and 1 war. and if we take it there just do the same and keep getting high xp
and after the enemy AG got bay 20 men was running after the thife and after 5 min there gave up

Sounds like the thief knew what he was doing.
Rangers get massacred by d/d conditions anyway. The meta is just going to shift more towards evasion builds and scrubs are STILL going to get owned, stealth or not.

Well as we can see from the Oct15th preview post, this is a moot point. Anti-stealth is being introduced on the Ranger and if it works well enough, they’ll broaden it to other classes.
They do recognize that there is a stealth problem guys. They’re fixing it in a slow, controlled way…but there is definitely, without a doubt, a stealth problem.
Its a player problem. Players are too stubborn and spoiled to move anywhere beyond plain kittening. Yeah you guys might have anti-stealth options but thieves will still kill you with stealth.
One of these days, after thieves get nerfed and countered into ridiculous depths the only people playing thieves will be good players and they will STILL kill the same scrubs who were kittening the entire time because… you know…
they suck.

The underlying problem is that their priority list is crappy and they are adamant on going by it. They have not:
1.) Ironed out professions and combat completely.
2.) Optimized the game to not use up so many resources like it normally does.
3.) Polished up all of the maps, events, AI, objects, etc. so that bugs and glitches are virtually non-existent.
They HAVE:
1.) Overly hyped this game and every update up.
2.) Dealt in misinformation.
3.) Manipulated the playerbase by directly affecting every meta (not just combat).
4.) Never completely tested anything beyond the papers.
5.) Used the playerbase to test their updates.
6.) Submitted updates that tend to show some varying bias towards each professions as well as certain playstyles.
7.) Completely ignored complaints that have been brought up daily.
All because of living story and turning this game into an esport.
The funny thing is they all die to d/d conditions.
Relevant picture is relevant. Lets make it not relevant by using OP’s idea.
Give us the option to:
>Turn off particle effects. (LOD does nothing. AoE rings and projectiles are ignored and turned into VERY simple projectiles. Rainbow-farting unicorns and anything that isn’t clinging to your weapon will be simplified and removed respectively.)
>Prevent music/sound effects from loading and playing.
>Turn off the sparkles that engulf everything. (not really important and very ugly to look at in combat)
Why have these you ask? Because it will help the lag. Why do I think it’ll help lag? Through some miracle, I have had instances where certain parts of the game coughmusic coughsparklescough just fail to load for a few hours and my FPS stays around 20 the entire time which is excellent for my POS laptop.
Not only that, it is hard to take a boss seriously when it is covered in light purple sparkles, blue mist, fire, claw scratches and other stupid crap to the point that I can’t even tell if its about to kill me or not. It looks bad and those who made it that way should feel bad. >:I
I like the music, don’t get me wrong. What I hate is when the same battle themes (Caithe’s Daggers and The Hammer Falls) play all the time, everytime and even forever when the infinite amount of sparkles literally puts my FPS to .05. That is a frame every 20 seconds.
If people would rather take performance over pretty, I think they should have that option because the options currently presented to us are not good enough. Please anet, prove me wrong and make this happen.

Now that dungeons are not worth farming, I’m stuck with a huge zerg of 80s running from champ to champ in Queensdale. Lord forbid you kill a champ out of the order they are running in. Lots of “nice” comments in Map chat if you do.

There is nothing to balance because stealth requires a completely different realm of gameplay to play against. Like everything in existence, first-hand experience as a thief makes fighting a thief easy to predict and counter. For thieves specifically, that would be playing the class itself.
The phrase “L2P” that thieves constantly use is the finger pointing in the direction of the information one needs to to defend themselves against it because even though an invisible thief cannot be telegraphed they can be thwarted.
Like I said, completely different realm of gameplay.

Someone hasn’t been paying attention to thief patches.
They should turn Orr into a Silent Hill type area with an Otherworld you randomly get pulled into where the risen become more grotesque and numerous.
