Chuck Norris – Bruce Lee
That’s not a rivalry. That’s a one-sided, systematic beating in which Norris is on the receiving end of.
The only reason Lee he hasn’t been seen lately is because the Thor needed his help with something.
Fanboys, vs everyone else.
Personally I’d have said Fanboys vs Disgruntled Forum Wanderers, with a few ‘objective’ posters in between.
Norns vs Carlton Banks
The only one-sided fight with Chuck Norris is vs. Chuck Norris.
9/12 is now Necro Thief Topics Day!
GOGOGO!

Here is the problem with stealth….
At least Blinding Powder is a blast finisher now.

Legendaries are a stupid concept. The only reason I would aim for one is to vid myself deleting it.
They are all ugly or common and have a redeeming value that has been easily neutralized by gem exchange and the crappy time:luck:money:reward ratio.
Pretty weapon. Pretty bad concept.
Yes, because a lot of legendary holders have enough disposable income to drop +$1500 on a legendary.
I’m sure there are enough of those people in game to make you worry.
Its more around $600.

See, now I just want to run around the game looking like an asian Colonel Sanders swinging around giant Drumsticks like this guy. Thanks..
Although a /chicken emote would be awesome instead of /laugh every time.

Perhaps you should put it in your’s too.
Buy more gems. Maybe drops will improve.
And make venoms not suck without a venomshare build while you’re at it.
NO! We must have mo4r sparkley rainbow farting unicorn explosions! I can’t not take my confetti gun seriously enough!
It gives us options. Either:
a.) Not have to listen to the person ever again.
b.) Be a social elitist and just report while still getting bombarded by w/e was insulting you.
c.) Report AND block in hope that the offender may get banned in peace. (yay :D)
Or just use stability before they hit you with their CC, and stun breaks followed by dodging if you do get hit.
Agreed about siege though.
Some people don’t have that much access to stability.
OMG! The profession that’s suppose to have the most mobility is faster than me! NERF IT ANET!!!
Yes Legendaries are a joke:
What did the Legendary say to the Guardian?
Nothing a legendary is an inanimate object. What does a player call the mystic forge when trying to get a precursor for a Legendary dagger?
The IncineratorWhat do you call a player trying to get a precursor for a Legendary shortbow?
The DreamerWhat did they player with The Dreamer tell his guild mates?
"Never play leap frog with a unicorn."What did the new player say when he got his Legendary?
"Thanks Dad!"
That must be one awesome dad. :I
This game needs to get away from damage. Numbers are cool to watch but it gets stale when that’s all there is.
Are you kidding?
The Thief signets are actually the best in the game for several reasons.1. Every signet is on a 30s cooldown.
2. Signet boosting traits are on the Critical Strike traitline, which is the must go traitline for most thieves.
3. Their effects are amazing, both passive and active.
4. Signet-related traits on thief are the best in class.Thief is the only profession with viable signets, tbh.
I dare you to find any other signet you’ve listed used in any gamemode.Your suggestions, also, are borderline OP.
I think you must be the one kidding.
Our signet related traits are what would make anyone even consider using them. Most of them lack utility or practicality in the active department because they can be replaced with other things (ie. Cloaked in Shadow vs SoS for blinds). Seriously, try them with and without traits and you’ll see a big difference.
The only ones that I would use regardless if I am traited or not are SoA and IS. I would use Infiltrator’s Signet mainly for the stun break. However, Haste feels like a better stun break than IS(especially with s/x) because that signet + Infiltrator’s strike makes up for it and then some.
Signet of Agility is probably one of the best thieves got because of the AoE endurance regen. The condition cleanse is the underwhelming part however. Even if it didn’t have a condition cleanse, I would still use it for extra dodging because that’s really it’s only redeeming quality imo.
Seriously though, look at the rest of them and tell me you cannot do better?
Title says it all. Compared to the other professions I feel that thief signets are either situational or weak. I think that’s why they aren’t really used much. Most of the actives are not worth using in some situations but are worth the slot when traited with Signet Use and Signets of Power. My beef is that it turns signets from a utility to might access and then I look as other professions and while their signet traits aren’t that good their signets are.
Long story short, our signets are poorly designed. Here are my brief comments about them and my suggestions to possibly fix them.
Assassin’s Signet: Decent Power boost. Active is better if specced for damage which isn’t always the case. In low power builds, the passive provide more of a benefit than the active. 180 points can make a difference in damage capabilities as well as a 15% bonus, however you lose the bonus power upon using the signet and you only have 5 attacks before that 15% is gone.
> I propose that the signet active grants 5 Might and Fury for 20s instead of the 15% bonus. Not everyone wants to wear zerker.
Infiltrator’s Signet: Passive is nice but .1/sec initiative is not that great unless coupled with the Quick Recovery trait. Gap closers are always nice so I think IS active is fine.
> I reccommend that the passive instead grants the 25% speed buff instead of SoS. I don’t like using this unless I need gap closers. Don’t worry I have a change for that one as well.
Signet of Agility: I would say this is in a good place but it could be better. The passive increases crit rate by 7% which is awesome. The Active however is, although great for support, weak enough to sober my optimism towards it. Cleanses 1 condition and refills endurance to everyone nearby. Traiting makes this bearable though.
> In addition to curing 1 condition, I suggest that it also cures cripple, chilled and immobilize. 1 Condition removed isnt that great.
Signet of Malice: Before the 33% passive buff, the entire thing was a little iffy in pve and useless everywhere else. Traited, this can be better than Roll for Initiative but then again, not everyone is going to put 30 in trickery and 20 in Critical Strikes to get this benefit. The passive is fine.
> I have a few suggestions for the active. Either:
1.) Regenerate Health overtime instead. Completely transfers damaging conditions to nearby enemies. Instant cast.
2.) Same heal + Retaliation 10s. Instant cast.
3.) Stronger heal + Copy bleeding, confusion, burning, torment and poison on you to nearby enemies. Instant cast.
4.) Same heal + Steal life from surrounding enemies. No AoE limit. Instant cast.
Active just seems not so great unless traited.
Signet of Shadows: Out of all the signets I believe that this might be the weakest. The run speed boost doesn’t make much sense in my opinion and the 1 blind can be replaced with Cloaked in Shadow and Pistol offhand. If it weren’t for the run speed this utility would not compare to the others.
> Instead of it like it is— Passive: Cleanse 1 condition every 10 seconds. Active: Create a storm of shadows around you. Range: 600. 25% chance enemies become blinded every second for 10 seconds.
Of course there are going to be a few gripes with some of my ideas so I am just going to list a few comparisons between our signets and other signets.
Signet of Domination CC
Plague Signet Condition Transfer
Signet of Spite I wish I could do all that in one second.
Signet of Earth Lolmobilize
Bane Signet CC
Signet of Judgment 10% damage reduction + “You get retaliation! And YOU get retaliation! Everyone gets retaliation!”
Signet of Stamina Lol what conditions?
Signet of Might lol what blocks?
VERSES
…. and we are one of the 3 classes without -1 condi/10 seconds or regeneration signets. We don’t need regen because of traits but our condition removal is horrid unless we spec and gear for it.
Anyways there you have it.

My luck is total kitten in MMOs anyways. Moar gold find works for me
I would just solo Jormag at that point.
Sword/pistol is tanky and really good for pve. Basically press 5 to put down a black powder that blinds everything around you and auto attack.
You can also use d/d conditions. Lay down Caltrops, use Dagger Storm and then spam Death Blossom.
P/D is good vs melee champs since you will have 100% uptime with bleed and torment.
Instead of free floating the cloth, they should tie it into the character’s animation. Most MMOs that have capes tend to do that.
The heart of the cards
Dear Page 1 to Page 75,
They are there automatically. Besides they don’t do anything besides reducing the number of times you click them.
The point of karma consumables is to increase your karma. Like, seriously. :I
Vets spamming AoE everywhere vs. NPCs that have morale as brittle as glass.
I hope I get that lucky some day so I can have the satisfaction of deleting all of them.
Stop changing kitten.

Normally I’d just attribute it to more baseless stupid Thief hate, but the Devs are in on it too.
I’d really like then to give them the benefit of the doubt and not assume the Devs just have it out for us like so many players.
I doubt it’s the constant dodging. That already got nerfed pretty hard recently, and hardly even needed that with how weak the damage and versatility were, and how fast you’d drop the moment you made a single mistake. It’s almost invariably going to be a nerf to Inf Strike / Shadow Return, and it will probably ruin S/D.
I can’t imagine why they’d nerf LS damage – LS and CS are the only attacks that hit for any decent damage. Without LS to fill in the gaps, S/D is going to get pasted trying to facetank long enough to get to the end of an AA chain.
I doubt they will nerf IS / SR, it’s either going to be LS or dodge spam in general.
Any nerf to dodges is likely going to have a minor effect on those ineffectively spamming dodges mindlessly, and a major effect on those of us who use the skill appropriately.
S/D is a fairly strong set, but I just don’t see how it’s “broken” – 40% of the weapnset skillbar is borderline useless.
I agree with you, even tho i could live with a damage nerf to LS IF they make DD useful to compensate
If they have to, move some of the damage from LS to FS – reducing the overall damage of the 2 skills by just straight reducing LS is silly, they hit on par with Auto attack in the same timeframe – yes, they have stronger attached effects than AA, but they also cost init…so it seems fairly balanced to me.
That is not true, AA chain takes over 2 seconds (you can easily check this by chainign 2 AA chains, the second CS will hit AFTER the 2 second Cripple / Weakness has run out -> over 2 seconds), i can nearly chain 2x FS / LS in that time frame, and that is definetly more damage than an AA chain, not to mention the utility is a lot better + it doesnt suffer as much from blinds / blocks as the AA chain does.
Anyway im not saying LS does need a nerf, i’m just saying if they nerf it (and they will) i could live most with a dmg nerf, but they should complete the set to compensate, because seriously DD has absolutely no use whatsoever
I don’t remember the math specifically off the top of my head, but I think your method is off because the aftercast of crippling strike is skewing your assessment (since you’re judging from using 2 AA chains in a row).
If I recall correctly, the time it takes to complete 1 AA chain is roughly equivalent with the time it takes to complete 1 FS->LS.
and pistol whip
I chose “Don’t care” because its too early to tell.
It’s because we swing the sword so fast and skill 3 and 4 are OP
Lol since when is dancing dagger OP??
2 and 5 are also OP because 2 is spammable and 5 grants stealth on command.
EDIT: Lets not forget 6-9. Those are OP too.
Bored at work, dumping some thief advice into this thread.
One thing that people who haven’t played thief fail to grasp: getting a thief to waste initiative is like half stunning them, it puts all their weapon skills on cooldown. Interrupting a heartseeker out of black powder, dodging cloak and dagger, staying out of range of larcenous strike, things like that put pressure on the thief. All 1 skill abilities from stealth don’t use up any initiative, e.g. backstab, surprise shot, or tactical strike, so just dodging that attack doesn’t put the thief at much of a disadvantage. If you see that ‘evaded’ message come up then you know they’re right next to you, so do something about it.
Stealth doesn’t mean invulnerability. If a thief goes for a stealth stomp, or goes into shadow refuge, dump all your AoE on their position and cleave the kitten out of them; blow your load. Don’t try and rez someone being stealth stomped unless you know you can finish the rez in less than 3 seconds. Also be aware if poison is on the downed person, it slows down your rez speed by 33%.
Thieves have high mobility but all of their teleports besides steal are essentially their defensive utility skills; getting them to use those skills just to get into close combat with you means you’ve already used up some of their defensive options.
Everyone who expects to competently fight thieves should know what the buff symbols look like for basilisk venom, infiltrators signet and shadowstep. If you see basi venom up, use stability, block or get a stun break ready, etc. If you see shadowstep icon up, kite them until it drops (10 secs), they now have 30-40 secs where they’re down one stun break. Same with infiltrators signet, once the symbol disappears that stun break isn’t available anymore
You should also be able to tell what weapon set the thief is using after just a few seconds of fighting them. At least one ability in every weapon set has an obvious animation that will tell you what they’re using – flanking strike, cloak and dagger, death blossom, pistol whip, black powder, unload, etc.
Thieves have no access to stability besides their elite skill dagger storm and the stolen skill from mesmers ‘consume ectoplasm’. Their main counter to CC is evading and stun break teleports, of which they only have two. Stuns can wreck a thief when they’re teleports/stun breaks are down. Try Timing a CC attack to land right after their dodge roll animation has finished.
1v1 fights with d/p thieves, one of the strongest roaming classes, now mostly go in my favour, whether i’m on d/d thief, zerker s/f guardian with 11.5k health, or hammer/gs warrior. AoE pressure, kiting, pulling the fight away from their black powder, knowing when their skills are on cooldown is what people mean by L2P, as opposed to immediately using your dodges, then spamming 1 running in circles hoping you don’t get hit with backstab.
“I CAN’T FACEROLL THAT!!” ~Every scrub ever.
Arenanet has already specifically said that mounts will not be added to the game. Period.
I hope they hold true to this. Adding mounts would just turn this into WoW.2, thus I’d be forced to abandon this. Never played wow, only seen it and aghast by every bit of it. This game’s perfectly fine without ’em.
You people are ridiculous.
Are you sure they are bots?
I love this idea. +1
At least 1 attack on any thief weapon set is purely meant for damage and those tend to get spammed to keep DPS up. Heartseeker, Unload, Pistol Whip and Cluster Bomb are those specific attacks. Infiltrator Strike might be one of them but its mainly for condition cleanse.
For a class that is able to chain attacks, you are going to have an overwhelming number of utility-heavy skills that either burn up resources quickly or are very weak. Low cost/high damage attacks will get used often regardless.
It will be cool all class use all weapons in the game except for the scepter for non magical class
There is no non-magical class. All classes use some form of magic
So what kind of magic do engineers use that allows them to pull crates and kitten outta thin air?
