Anet were just looking for something that could be abbreviated as “hot”.
Guardian: No new weapon.
It will be called the “Inagoodplacerightnow” and will have the same skills as the guardian.
As with most of information about HoT, no one knows anything. So unless you hear it directly from anet, its all speculation.
The mac client has been in beta since the beginning. Anet never fixed any of the problems that come with it. Yeah sure, we don’t “know” but after almost 3 years I think it is safe to say nothing is gonna change, ever.
Install windows on your mac or switch to a windows computer. Those are the only 2 choices.
I don’t think they’re working on the mac version at all.
You’re better off just playing the windows version on bootcamp.
So u guys and Anet considers PvE as Map completition with each char. Sry but this is for me and most players just a pain. And needs to be changed.
You don’t NEED a legendary, therefore the conditions to get one don’t NEED to change.
If you WANT a legendary, then WORK for it.
I think those who use their tomes to insta-80 a Revenant will miss out on a lot. They’d have to learn the profession’s mechanics all at once after their stack of tomes runs out, without the gradual and casual process by leveling normally. I would encourage people to just play the Revenant as normal, but hey, play how you want, not how you’re told.
I disagree.
When you learn skill by skill, you don’t see the whole picture.
When you have all your skills at once you can see the interactions between them and you can experiment with builds.
If it’s your first character, sure, take your time. Get used to how GW2 works. But if you already have good experience with the game, then you should be able to take full advantage of a lvl 80 revenant with no problem.
All classes at lvl 80
78+ tomes of knowledge
Materials for an ascended heavy armorThat is my to do list, I’m working on my 3rd item.
they said you cant get Revanent to 80 instant.
WHAT? Where?
Also farming the mats for a legendary.
I’m collecting tomes of knowledge.
When its ready. When its ready. When its ready. When its ready. When its ready.
Not gonna happen.
It doesn’t make sense for revenants to do the whole personal story to kill Zhaitan. I believe that if you create a revenant, you will just start in the new Maguuma map and you won’t have access to the Zhaitan storyline.
So because he hasn’t played for a while his opinion isn’t valid?
Veterans who have played for 2 years and ended up playing less because they were bored by the last living stories can’t have a valid opinion? To be fair, the announcement seemed to be catered to players who have kept up with the living story, so someone who spent less time on playing the game will have less of an interest and less excitement for this expansion.
It is possible to be following the LS and still pretty much NOT be playing the game.
For instance, I come back every 2 weeks, play the LS for 30 minutes and I log out. The rest of the time I play ArcheAge.
Personally, I’m pretty confident Gift of Mastery and Gift of Fortune will be part of the new recipes as well, simply because those two are universal among current legendaries.
Agreed.
There is no reason whatsoever to change these two gifts.
You can’t take his opinion about the game serious right now, he haven’t played for ages. :P I have him on my friendlist, was in his guild at launch.
So because he hasn’t played for a while his opinion isn’t valid?
Veterans who have played for 2 years and ended up playing less because they were bored by the last living stories can’t have a valid opinion?
It’s interesting to nite the lukewarm reaction to the expansion, being someone who had fallen out of playing the game. A few people I know who’d ripped out of GW2 were lukewarm about the announcement,
The main thing is there isn’t too much oomph for the new or returning player, it’s a expansion that seems more tailored for existing players. Not a bad thing, but a thing nontheless.
Isn’t that usually the point though? Adding an end-game expansion for the people that actually play the game?
Actually if you look at games like WoW, expansions tend to bring back old players who stopped playing because they didn’t have things to do anymore.
Players who are still playing… well, there is no need to attract them. The LS is enough.
When Anet reveals the Guardian specialization page… it’ll slowly load to only reveal the following words:
“Guardian is in a good place right now”
:P
kitten , I had forgotten about that…
exactly where in that do you plan to learn to play the Revenant? I just see insta-80 and 7.&8. will not go far to teach you the workings of the new class
You’ll spend days leveling your revenant to 80. We’ll spend the same amount of time playing with a fully geared lvl 80 revenant. You think somehow you’re gonna learn better/faster than us?

Considering that you can purchase an upgrade to deluxe pack of GW2 through gems, which also means that Anet is not making any profit by doing that but still doing it for the benefit of players.
Gems always come from somewhere. In order for you to exchange gold for gems, someone else had to buy those gems in the first place.
For those who have extra characters close to the end of their personal story, remember that you get 5 scrolls of mentorship (same as scrolls of knowledge) when you finish.
For those saying Anet isn’t Blizzard, remember that Anet is NCSoft. I’m pretty sure if they wanted, NCSoft would have the money to hire a few devs to add new races.
I just think they weighed the cost and the potential earnings and thought they could sell their expansion without going to the trouble of adding a new race.
I have 12 lvl 80 characters so I will be using tomes and scrolls.
Wait for expansion 3, in three years.
It’s hard to fight when you can only glide and not actually fly.
Tengu are the new Mounts.
Tengu are the new food.
Sylvari. For the irony.
Also for the people buying t6 mats we do not know if the new legendaries will need the same recipes as the old ones.
I personally predict that they are not going to change the need for a gift of fortune (and mastery). So we will still need lots of T6.
Guild Wars 2: ArcheAge
Actually WoW MoP had them before AA.
and Aion had this mechanic for years, air currents and all.
Yeah and where’s Aion now?
ArcheAge is GW2’s current competitor.
T6 prices will skyrocket, though. People will be hoarding them for the HoT release.
They said that more info would be released as beta and launch dates got closer. A new race is still not out of the question.
Come on, they would have said it if they were planning new races… You don’t “hide” something like that. You use it to build hype and attract people.
Guild Wars 2: ArcheAge
Yeah I was disappointed by that. But the rest seems cool, so I’m happy.
Actually, a large majority of players are expecting it to be a paid expansion pack. I’m betting around $30.
IMO, ArenaNet would rather try to keep players together than to separate them, not making the same mistake than GW1.
Honestly, I’m not hyped. I’m just hoping. If it’s not what I’m hoping for, I’ll just keep playing other games like I’ve been doing these past few months, and forget about GW2.
Also remember that a lot of people don’t want to level up a new character now that warriors have been nerfed. They’re still “adequate” so why bother changing?
Oh, the members of the forum will probably scream bloody murder and make untold numbers of “I quit the game” posts…
You know, a lot of us have already stopped playing. Pretty much my entire guild did. We’re not gonna make “I quit” posts but if it is not an expansion, this will be the last chance GW2 would have had to get its veterans back.
Doesn’t matter what form it takes, expac, LS, a mix of the 2… If it’s content (a lot of it) then I’ll play again. If it’s not and they keep doing their crappy 30 minutes worth of content every 2 weeks then I’ll just keep playing other games.
Second, it’s also stupendously easy to do what he did by taking screenshots and basically slicing apart the interface to create what he was after.
Actually, you still need a sense of design, which not everybody has. Also if you look at the images, you can clearly see that there is more than just cutting/rearranging screenshots.
Did you have the tickets in your inventory?
Yeah they removed the pvp skins but never replaced them with something else, therefore making the chests less interesting.
RNG in-game: OK
Even though it would be nice to have an alternate way to get precursors, even if it’s long.
RNG in cash shop: HELL NO
I pay real money. I want what I’m paying for. Period.
Let’s go with Mirriam-Webster’s definition then, which is what the OP intends:
hy·poc·ri·sy noun \hi-?pä-kr?-s? also h?-\
: the behavior of people who do things that they tell other people not to do : behavior that does not agree with what someone claims to believe or feel
I don’t see how that even fits with the situation.
Some people don’t like the LS. They like the fact that we might have an expansion. How is that being a hypocrite?
It’s not about Expansion vs LS or whatever. It’s about the content. Doesn’t matter how it is delivered.
For a few months now I’ve only been playing 30 minutes every 2 weeks for the LS.
I have 12 lvl 80 characters. I have ascended weapons/armors/trinkets. I have a legendary. I have done dungeons, fractals, WvW, PvP, world bosses, etc… Except for those 30 minutes every 2 weeks, there is nothing to keep me playing anymore.
Now, maybe the bosses at ArenaNet don’t care about veterans like me. Maybe they prefer new blood and would prefer if we just stayed away from the game. But if they do want us back, they’re gonna have to give us a lot of content. Doesn’t matter how.
I thought mum was the word.
Megaservers. That’s your problem. If the content is too hard, you NEED to be lucky enough to find yourself on a good megaserver.
Also, yeah coordination =! difficulty.
I wouldn’t mind several tiers of difficulty for dungeons for instance. With maybe better rewards for the harder ones (even though GW2 rewards are known to suck in general).
Again you are speculating you are causing yourself false hype. You may be disappointed in the game because of it.
I am already disappointed by the game.
Every 2 weeks I come back 30 minutes to do the LS, in hopes for something bigger later.
So either this is an expansion (or a hybrid LS + Expansion) or that’s the end for me, no point in even continuing doing the LS. Same for pretty much my whole guild.
For me, and a lot of people, right now it’s either get hyped or forget about GW2 altogether. I prefer to get hyped.
