You don’t kick us. We quit.
It’s really hard to beat the last boss with this lag.
As for the rest, I’m going to say it now like I’ve done in the past, you people are only setting yourself up for failure or disappointment. Assume it’s only an announcement of the next LS season, or prep-work only for the next LS season, you wont be disappointed at the very least. If the hype is correct, and anet has been less than truthful about their staffing counts, and it is an expansion, then celebrate.
The thing is, at this point for a lot of people it’s either an expansion or leaving the game (or not coming back). So the only thing to do is hope for an expansion.
Now, can I laugh at all the people who were sure there was no expansion?
The problem is that they will split their community in 2 segments, those who have the expansion and those who don’t. Not sure how that can work in competitive settings. They can certainly lock explorable zones, new classes, but can they lock new pvp maps and new items?
There’s an idea floating around that would eliminate that problem.
Make the maps, the stories, the quests, free and put the other stuff like new races, new classes, etc… in the gemstore.
This is the problem. You know why? Because an expansion is NOT THE SMART THING TO DO. Think for a second. All content in the game is currently available to every player at no additional cost, with the one exception of Living Story missions that you missed entirely. Now, what would happen if they made a paid expansion? All of that content would only be available to people who buy the expansion.
Actually there’s an idea floating around that would eliminate that problem.
Make the maps, the stories, the quests, free and put the other stuff like new races, new classes, etc… in the gemstore.
yea, be able to sell it would resolve lot of problems imo. But donno what’s the logic behind so maybe they did it not sellable for some reasons.
The reason is to make people play longer. If they can’t buy it with money they have to do all the grinding themselves. It’s the same reason for the time gating on ascended mats.
If it is not an expansion, what’s the harm in saying it is not an expansion? I really don’t get it.
The buzz would still be there. People would still wonder what the announcement is. People would still speculate. Instead of fixating on the expansion, they would try to find new clues.
Sure some people would complain that they want an expansion, period. But they’re already complaining, nothing would change.
So, what’s the harm in saying it is not an expansion?
Firelysm probably used the wrong words there. You’re just nitpicking at a single word he said without taking into account his point.
His point was that people complaining on the forum are people still playing. They’re complaining because things are going bad in the game they love. When it gets too bad and people are really fed up, they just leave, they don’t post on the forum anymore. So insulting forum posters by saying “nah, don’t listen to them, they’re just a fraction of the player base, they don’t matter” is just wrong.
Cantha basically means “asian”. Asian cities, scenery, armors, weapons…
Do people really think that they would take 1,5 hours on the MAIN STAGE for not telling us anything?
Oh I’m sure they’ll tell us all kinds of things we’d like to hear about what’s coming, and then when launch day comes along, only half of them will be present with tons of excuses and laments as to why they were cancelled.
1.5 hours of “we’re considering it”, “we’re thinking about it”, “we have plans”, “we’re working on it”. Remember the new legendaries they were working on?
Something else I hate: the idea that since we’re not developers we don’t know anything about games and should just shut up.
Well, I’m not a chef but I can tell you if something tastes good or bad.
expansion or bust
Anet will make an expansion when they really lose a lot of player. Who knows if it’s gonna be 2015 or 2016.
Want an expansion? Stop playing GW2.
If Anet didn’t put so much crap in the black lion chests, people would buy more keys.
All those changes are important because they fix the several flaws that GW2 has early game: the lack of a sense of progression, poor tutorials, directionless, forgottable rewards and jumpy story instances that forced you to level up midway, interrupting the flow of the story.
I never had any problem understanding what to do when I started playing. Neither did anybody that I know.
SPOILER : It’s something really amazing that you have to buy from the gem store.
That’s the thing. The game is full of potential. The living world is full of potential. But that’s just it: potential. After 2 years we know that there is so much that could be done but ArenaNet is refusing to do it. I don’t think it’s a money problem because they keep releasing (lackluster) content. It’s just not the content we want.
I want to thank ArenaNet for finally showing that they are not willing to do what they need to do. At least I can move on.
They’re working on “How to make more money”.
You know, I feel that instead of colors, we should have icons with hover descriptions. Map lead, Pick Up lead, Guild lead, etc…
I’ll stick with blue. Thank you very much.
I’ll stick with blue. Thank you very much.
Welcome to RNG Wars 2.
Honestly, trying to do it now is just a huge waste of time. Just wait for a fix.
This may be a completely original and not thought of idea so hear me out.
The game has these things called guilds. Someone who wants to regularly do these coordinated meta events could start a guild specifically to do that and invite other people that wish to do so. Scheduled times can be posted on the MOTD so everyone knows when to be on and ready. You then find an somewhat empty server and ferry people over. You can use TS or other voice chat programs to coordinate if necessary.
Why hasn’t anyone thought of doing this? Oh wait… they have. A lot of the successful servers (ahem, mega servers) do this.
I find it very stupid to be forced to join another guild just because I don’t want to end up on an empty megaserver. I am faithful to my guild.
even seen a ninja in tight jeans?…….
Ever seen an actual ninja?
IMO the replayable achievements are just a way to artificially make the LS longer. And even with that, people in my guild were done in 2 days. It is too short. Period.
If the problem is they don’t have enough people to work on more stuff, then by all means make a freaking paid expansion already and hire more people.
All I can say is ArenaNet is lucky TESO and Wildstar were failures.
Convert gold to gems…
Guardian + Tome of courage = piece of cake
I never have beaten Teq, Wurm or even Mationette since i simply refused to wait for 1 hour for an event to spawn.
Agreed. If we have to wait one hour for any kind of event just because we have to make sure to have a spot on the correct megaserver, then obviously something is wrong with the whole system.
You kill them both daily? Wow, I can’t even kill the wurm once…
All the organised guilds are closed now.
After 2 years we should have learned to just wait and see with ArenaNet. These guys get excited for nothing. They talk about all these awesome changes and new contents in their interviews and live streams or on the website and then we get the patch and we’re like “What? That’s all?”.
I am hopeful but I am also realistic.
They never promised we wouldn’t need to grind. Legendaries are not “necessary” to complete any of the content of the game.
Yeah, keep dreaming.
SundayTrash, to me it just seems you don’t know the game and you don’t understand economics. You say dungeons inject money directly into the game but that this money isn’t taken out of the game. That’s just wrong. Like in any MMO, this game does have money sinks. There’s the 15% TP fee. There’s the gold to gem exchange. Using waypoints is a sink. Every time you buy something from a NPC, it’s a sink.
We’ve been asking for this since the beginning.
At this point, it’s most likely not happening.
In GW2, legendaries are not legendary. Anybody with money can buy them. My philosophy is if I suddenly randomly get a precursor, I might craft one, but if not then no big deal.
I’m just a little annoyed that legendary = rich in this game, that’s all.
I’m not expecting anything game changing. They were very busy with the China release and I wonder if they really had time to develop such big things. A new race would require a lot of work because they would need to adapt every single piece of clothing, create a new capital city, create a new personal story…
Orphanage with guardian with staff.
With a warrior, I’d probably prefer hospital.
If I were a big company like NCsoft, I wouldn’t trust volunteers with my stuff.

Google Authenticator. Use it.
You friend didn’t get his GW2 account hacked. It was his e-mail account.
ArenaNet are not responsible for that. Hell, they even give us a way to protect ourselves by linking an authenticator.

Temporary content is basically throwing their money out the window.
They have to pay the devs to create this content. And then 2-4 weeks later it’s destroyed? I’m not economist but this looks like a crap load of wasted money.
Now, making permanent content that even new players 2 years from now can play, that’s good investment. Just seems more logic to me.
I’m not saying we shouldn’t have temporary content, though. Like seasonal events.
Just so you know, it only takes two players to kick someone from a party: the person who proposes the kick, and then someone to click the check mark.
Which can lead to hilarious situations where two players kick the one who opened the dungeon.
Sylvari die before they are corrupted.
You’re not in his blacklist.
Warrior is good, but not “Anet’s favorite class”. And they have nerfed Warriors in the past, perhaps to appease PvP players, and that has made certain builds less good for PvE (note that when I say PvE, I NEVER mean speed runs, which is but a small, optional part of PvE gaming.) This has also happened with most Professions, however.
Warrior is still the only class that can do pretty much everything. Melee damage, ranged damage, condition damage, burst damage, sustained damage, tank, CC, buff, mass revive, even heal. They have high mobility, high HP, heavy armor.
Sure, they nerfed a few things but what do we keep seeing in LFG? LF WAR…
If you make a warrior, you’re sure to always find a group in seconds.
You can set a macro to push one button repeatedly to execite a skill rotation a certain way, easier on one’s fingers. Like bind “c” to activate skills 1,2,3,4 in that order, etc. That is allowed
I’m pretty sure that falls under “automation”.
It hasn’t been dumped. It just doesn’t do anything.
Can’t go wrong with a warrior. It’s Anet’s favorite class.
