Why can’t people just forget about racechange? It likely wont happen, due to various complications. I don’t really see the point… make a new character… not like it takes that long to level up and regain what you had on another.
SAB was related to aprils fools, so in reality we were lucky it lasted the entire month. With some luck it will be up again next year.
Maybe my post was a bit messy
I tend to write what I think as I think it, making some of my post lacking in struckture xD
I think allowing 1 additonal capital letter, hyphen or apostrophe per name would be a fair compromise, AND possible to solve via pretty simple code (rather than policy).
You know that was what I was suggesting -_-
don’t wanna see stupid names with numbers and messing around upper and lower case… the eyesores…
McAllister is an eyesore? Because Mcallister certainly is.
If you read my entire post you would know that, that is ok. McSomething or the other is fine. I am cool with that. But if it people use KiTTenS or something like that it is an eyesore… read the whole post please.
I it is still very much possible to create characters with good names, even with only 1 word.
Personally I have Oíche (made on first day prestart), Zeefa (same as Oíche), Kiliasja (same yet again), Spraoi (created months after release), Qiuppa (very recent character).
It is a question of getting creative.
For me it depends on the race. Sylvari and asura I give 1 word names, charr and norn get 2 word names, humans both ways work.
Why? it just seems most common for sylvari and asura to have 1 word names and common for norn and charr to have surnames.
I am for adding a bit more spelling freedom, add a few letters that fit in, add ways of spelling that are used in rl names. The ´and uppercase once inside the name (allowing McSomething) but there has to be limitations… don’t wanna see stupid names with numbers and messing around upper and lower case… the eyesores…
I love the idea of tengu.
They could get plummage and colors of all kinds of birds. Eagles, Hawks, Jays, Doves, Pheasants, Peakittens, Parrots, Birds of Paradise, Crow Birds.
Personally I would love to make a bluejay inspired tengu.
Oh can’t find a link… but I remember it being mentioned. I was disapointed since I had sort of thought of my norn elementalist to be decendet from my GW1 (human) ele. Was kinda bummed learning it was not possible.
I changed it to that she might still have had a relationship with a norn and they adopted an orphaned norn child.
It might be possible. Feelings are funny and don’t follow a set of rules, so why not. So relationships, could happen I recon. But, there would be no halfer babies, as it has been stated that the races are not able to reproduce with one another. But babies are not essential for a relationship, so I can see relationships happening between the races.
For my Oíche The sylvari ranger born of the night.
Not gonna happen, and it shouldn’t.
1) I don’t really see a problem needing a solution, just keep. Too much help makes for more boringness.
2) Seems like a fine option, not essential, but it could be an alright thing.
3) I have no opinion.
4) No. Absolutely no. PvP’ing of any kind have no place in PvE, whatsoever. The only acceptable mix is WvW.
5) I could see that be somewhat useful.
6) Splendid.
7) Great idea, that I have seen disgussed before.
8) Wait… you broke the mouse by simply holding right key down? How? My mouse is fairing well although I too hold that key down almost all the time, I barely even think about it. But sure, not a harmful idea.
9) Not gonna happen, nor should it happen. Bad idea.
10) Would be a great option in manageing guilds.
11) I don’t see why we would want this.
12) Sure, could be nice having somewhere.
13) Great idea.
14) eh? You can’t do that? I have been in parties in WvW and been leaving them too.
I wish the longbow skin was the Stormbow from GW. Looked much better than the Ithas bow. If they changed it they could use Ithas skin for Shortbow and get rid of that aweful living shortbow.
Horrible idea. I wont mind seeing the stormbow again, although it wasn’t thaat good. But put in, in another way, don’t change HoM. And you want to change the shortbow? Hell no! I love that skin more than anything else in the HoM, that was one of the only weapons I cared about while working on it all. And yes, I do use it.
The shortbow resembles the Dryad bow from GW1 btw.
As a matter of fact I use the daggers on my norn ele, they suit her perfectly. I use the fellblade on my sylvari mesmer again, this looks great to me.
Chaning something people already got and use is a rather bad idea I think. I understand OP is only for a bit of color and effect change, which may seem kinda harmless and as an improvement. But even tiny changes can make some people angry.
To change the skin now would be really bad idea. But making an entirely new skin like you suggested, I could see that be quite cool.
I am cheap and didn’t give any tips…. but I did ofc. say thanks very much The mesmer seemed perfectly happy about just getting the gratitude of the ones whom he helped.
I have done every puzzle in the game, except that one without mesmer help. I did try it… several times, without ever getting past the first stepping stones. I hate it more than anything else in the game. So yeah, definitely happy that mesmer was so helpful
Well I am completely for this More variation ftw
I find it quite boring and stupid… but, that being just my opinion and understanding others love it, I see no harm at all in keeping it. Afterall I don’t have to play it just because it is there.
As I see it… Mad Queen… you are against the choice.
You keep saying no one understands or sees the viewpoint you represent. But you too completely miss what others are saying.
Your side call us out for personal attacks while you do the same. We have been called sexist (despite being for equality), pervs, imature etc. and you wonder why others call you feministic?
You said you don’t care about women that disagree with you, right dismiss one big part of the population on behalf of another…
As for the suggested pictures Loraz… I am not against them, they seem alright… don’t like them all that much, and disagree with your changes to them, but that is my taste. And is still denying me and others the choice that we want.
Just gonna add this… I used to have huge respect for you Malafide, I remember you as a cool person in GW1. Actually I still think so… but I am not seeing it in this topic… sorry.
Pls. pls. pls do not speak for all women… seriously… most of the female gamers I’ve known, and myself included. Like that kind of armor, and I really really really want something that shows the bioluminence on my sylvari ranger, other than the named set.
Btw. (again) everyone is (still) agreeing on more options all in all. That is more sets that show some skin, for both males and females… not only females + more sets that does not show any or only little skin, but still stylish, realistic or whatnot also for both males and females… not just males.
Anyone gonna disagree with that? Or is it still a problem even though we are asking for the same for the male characters? If so why?
Perhaps there are issues, I wont deny that there are a certain representation of women in the gaming world. Not one that is bothering me… it seems kinda natural to me.
No I do not dress like that in real life, but I don’t go around killing monsters and gather, mine and stuff in real life… so yeah.
Either way the issues are minor in GW2 and with what we are asking (more of all kinds of armor skimpy and non skimpy for all, male and female) I don’t see the problem, some have with it.
http://humon.deviantart.com/art/Skimpy-armor-for-dudes-289282243
Equality, sure go ahead Now give more skimpy for everyone + some not skimpy stuff.
The only reason I notice it is night sometimes, is that I play sylvari. Nighttime is one of the very very few things that disapointed me in this otherwise stunning game.
I think it is correct that it was darker earlier on, remember noticing some truly lovely nightskies… sadly that was way back in the 3rd beta though
I’ve been mentioning this to people in game quite a few times.
So yes, yes yes yes yes. Please make the night actually look like night.
Just so people can see it… night in Rata Sum during the 3rd beta weekend.
Saying they need to make other stuff is kinda silly…. they will eventually I am sure.
Wether they make a new race or new class, it will most likely be with a full expansion, meaning there will be tons more than just that.
I think 1 more class tops all in all. A heavy. But races don’t affect balance, and they give a lot of new story options and lore. Only races already known in game I see become playable is tengu though… perhaps largos.
It was just colder back when the vikings roamed.. and it is that time it is inspired by. It is a sterotype, kinda wrong. But who cares. I had a laugh once, when I broke the illusions of a british person by telling him that Denmark rarely has snow, even in winters
We have gotten a lot more snow the later winters though… was before that.
Thinking about it, it kinda shows how climate changes. It is funny how you complain about the climate, when there are so many other things to take.
Now GW2 have not done this so much, but nordics are not all tall or blond.
The norn in the mythology is actually a smaller group of female deities associated with fate… kinda far from what GW2 norn is if you ask me.
I have to agree with Rising Dusk… people that spend less hours online may very well have achieved much more than someone playing everyday. If the one playing less time plays hardcore when he/she can and the one playing everyday does so casually.
I know I spend quite a bit of time in game… but there is tons of things I have not done, that some with less time than me have done… long ago even.
Don’t know what BiS stands for btw…
- Dunno… maybe… maybe not.
- Perhaps, might be worth considering in future dungeons.
- Sure
- No
- No
- New hairstyles? Would love that, for all races.
- Rather armor was not gemstore items (besides a few perhaps) rather they added it in, to be gotten from somewhere else in the world (maybe in new dungeons or such)
- Sounds interesting, count me in.
- Although I agree that greatswords seem to be overloved, I don’t think taking it away from any of the classes is gonna go well. Adding new weapons? Sure… I would love a whip for my ranger.
- Well… again since the favortism goes to greatswords with 3 skins, instead of just 1 like everyone else… then yes add more lengendaries. Night/fall/winterish themed longbow pls.
- Totally agree on this.. way too many flame weapons… they are there, fine, now make something else.
I am offended that some people think that only guys like skimpy armor. I think a lot of skimpy armor is cute or pretty and I know a lot of other girls are with me on that.
Malafide… I agree the new townsclothes are somewhat nice… but it seriously is not what some of us want. It would be cool as an option for armor, definitely. But I don’t think it should exclude the skimpy armors.
I agree with Panda on the breast enhancing… that is not cool (although I sort of like it on my sylvari as sylvari seems to be stuck with small breasts all together.)
@Malafide: I simply do not see the negative sterotype you talk about... being attractive, sexy, free and confident is bad?
Showing a bit of skin is offensive? How? You claim to have better reasoning than those that are do not share your opinion. But sorry, I don’t see your flawless reasoning... all I see is a biased opinion, which regardless of what you say seem feminist. Granted I have not looked up the meaning of the word in details, but my interpretation of the word, makes you fit in it.
It’s fine, you can be however you wanna be. You’re entitled to your opinion, but don’t pretend your opinion is shared by a majority.
I cannot know this ofc. I cannot speak for women, besides myself and what I know from my friends. But I doubt many agree with you. You do not speak for any women, but yourself.
What facilities? There is only one facility instance thats been added, as far as I know.
My asura was never a gremlin or mogwai. They are asura and never had fur in the first place.
However yes I do see the resemblance to gremlins a bit :P
Been suggested many times before, also Anet already said they have no plans for this I believe. Imo a bad idea too… But yeah. Should have tried search.
Definitely no. PvP and PvE is seperate (WvW being an inbetween thing) and should stay that way.
I could agree to a sort of 1v1 arena in the mists or as a sort of mini game in LA or something.
But out in the open world? No, absolutely no.
I thought for that Malafide was going to an extremist point too, as she seemed very much against the idea. But she has actually said she liked the GW1 ritualist and paragon armor, which is revealing, but looks sort of natural. Not sure how she felt about elite druid for rangers, but she have not been saying anything against that.
Pretty sure I spotted her agreeing to revealing armor, as long as it stays to the natural look like the forementioned ritualist armor. She is infact asking for choice as are we.
She has said she don’t want more like the winged set or even skimpier than that. I can respect that. I like the winged set, but I definitely don’t want to see anything any skimpier than that either. Suppose I mostly like it on my sylvari too… felt kinda wrong on my norn… actually it felt very wrong on my norn.
So to sum up – no more like the winged set, but revealing in a more natural way like the GW1 armors is okay. At the same time we want more formfitting, armors without being revealing and in general just more styles to choose from.
This topic have been derailing into an argument about sexism and whatnot, because of different interpretations of the word skimpy.
So we are mostly on the same page afterall? Skimpy being a bad choice of words. More options all around, revealing armor to all that want that, males and females (ala those in GW1, I loved elite druid and the rit armor) More formfitting, but mostly covering sets. More armor all in all, lots of variation, to cater to all types of people.
I do not think any of the “skimpy” sets currently in GW2 is bad though, no matter what you say. I love the winged set and wear it on my sylvari mesmer atm. Also I like the cultural t3 human armor (both light and medium) and will definitely be getting it for my engineer at some point.
Agree it should not turn skimpier than those, though. Just want more of that style or GW1 style.
Know what… Nero and Dante are hot, so cool and totally attractive. I would date Dante if he was not fictional. Seriously, video games, movies and tv series have ruined my expectations for the opposite sex and I will die alone because no one will ever fullfil what the medias have shown me…
Or I realise that media does not equal real life and enjoy the very good looking men in movies and games and settle for someone, perhaps less attractive, strong and awesome, but sweet and kind. Just like most guys will have to settle for a girl not half as hot as the game avatars. As long, as we all understand media does not reflect real life… what is the harm?
We are attracted to perfektion… regardless of gender, is perfection achieveable outside of a fictional universe? No, not really. Is it ok to pretend in a game and fantazise based on movies and series? Yes, yes it is.
Whats attractive on men is different from whats attractive on women… know whats super sexy on both genders though? Self confidence. Knowing who you are, what you can and cannot do, accept it and just enjoy being whoever you are.
Skimpy clothing is not lack of confidence… it is confidence in its purest form.
Is Eir any less of a strong character because her armor is sort of skimpyish? Don’t think so. Leo is making a fairly good point.
I have a very simple solution for you. Don’t do dailies. You are not forced to do them. Do some, don’t do others. Whichever suits you and what you may be in the mood for.
I have skipped a lot of dailies and have far from done all monthlies. I did not feel like doing certain things, at certain times. Hence no reward for me, but I don’t care, I enjoyed my time in the game instead of feeling I had to do dailies just because they are there.
I still agree with the idea (female too btw, thinking it is only young boys that want it is ignorant)
But it isn’t really helping to make a new topic on it. Especially when the other one is still running.
@kmaeropa that is exactly what I been trying to say, but no one seems to listen.
What I am thinking is more like, those skimpy armors already in the game, no more skimpy than those. I like the winged set and human t3 for light and medium. I like the named set and such.
My greatest wish is a sylvari plant medium armor that have same covering as t3 human or the named set. Because on one side I really really really want her beautyful glow to show, and on the other I just think plant armor is the only way to go with sylvari.
It’s not really about being sexy, it is about showing the artistic look and the customization and put into my character in its creation. This goes for sylvari, charr and norn especially, due to skin patterns and glow, fur patterns and color and tattoos. Asura actually got quite interesting skin patterns too. For me humans are the least interesting ones, artisticly. I will however get t3 cultural for my human engineer too, I just like the overall look of that.
@Malafide
They seriously are not as limited as you make it to be. Either way I want you to have the option you wish for in the game. Ofc. I do, you should have that right.
Then those of us wanting skimpy armor can get that too, one does not exclude the other.
@Fred
It is optional, don’t use the armor, look the other way when you see others wearing it. I think some of the fully covering armors are butt ugly, CoF and that Dredge look comes to mind. But will I bother those that like it and tell them not to wear it? No, it is to their taste, they think it is awesome and so be it.
I really don’t think it will be skimpy armors all over the place, just because some more is added, there will still be other options, more of those should be added too. Some will choose one, some the other. Not giving us the choice would be stupid.
@ Malafide
You do realise that GW2 has way more covering armor than skimpy right? Even in light armor. That you see it everywhere (apparently) means people like it.
No one is going to take away the decency and well covering looks from the game, likely more of those will be added too.
All we want is more options for skimpy too. Should we really be following your opinion on what is offensive? Don’t like the way my toon looks? Don’t talk to me, simple as that. We will have armor to our taste and you will have to yours.
BTW some women want the skimpy armor, because unlike you, they think it is cool. Most of the girls and women I know that plays GW2, and myself included like the skimpy armor.
@ DeWolfe
Yes I realise sylvari are plants. But I am not for skimpy armor to be “sexy” I just happen to like that style. Reason it matters with sylvari is that they got that glow at night, incredible patterns on their “skin”. To me a sylvari is a walking piece of art, and I cannot show how remarkable it is, because nearly no armor shows that.
Speaking of which… it is also incredibly sad to me that, with the beautyful fur of my charr that, that will never show. Can’t really be offensive on charr anyway… I mean… they are big cats, they barely have any human anatomy.
@ Zeefa
Considering the points of view of some men, a woman dressed in skimpy clothes is an ’’easy’’ woman compared to one dressed in proper clothes. I am not going into details, I believe I was clear enough. The type of clothes one wears describes the personality more than well. It’s the ‘’first look’’ and impression one gets when seeing a person like that. She may not be an easy woman for real, nor a weak person, but she gives that impression.
And to add…that woman most probably wants a looooot of attention on herself dressed up like that.
Or she just likes the look and don’t give a danm what anyone thinks about, and doesn’t really care about attention either. Just want to be herself.
I feel sorry for those that are that simple minded.
perverts!! the lot of ya! !
I vote elegance instead of skimpy!
I am no pervert, thank you very much.
But I do like skimpy armor, and the choices in that regard is as stated before, very low for anyone that is not light armor.
… Against having the CHOICE.
So you’re saying there is no choice in this game?
There is choice. Just very little choice when it comes to skimpy armor. With my sylvari ranger there was ONE armor that’ll show her glow… yes only one. And it is not cultural… funny thing is that sylvari cultural is pretty covering, unless you are light user.
I am honestly shocked at people that lose respect for a person because of their clothing. I have said it again and again, but no one seem to listen. A woman in skimpy clothing can be just as proud and dignified, self confident and strong as a fully covered lady, if not more in some cases. Losing respect for a woman for her clothing is just shallowminded.
Someone posted the numbers… there are way more covering armor than skimpy… the choices for skimpy armor is extremely limited, unless you are using lightarmor. That is not really fair.
And yes… sure… equality… lets have skimpy armor for the males too, I am totally cool with that.
So I just made a count… seems well covering armor is in vast majority. Even for light armor, which however have the most skimpy armors of the 3 armor classes too.
Medium having the least skimpy, barely any. Even heavy have more. Which is still… barely any.
How anyone can see this game as having too many skimpy sets… where are you looking? Could it perhaps be that the same few sets there IS are used by many.
No one is asking to remove armors already there. Plenty of people love those sets and will use them. What is so kittening wrong with giving more options to those that like skimpy? Please tell me?
Don’t come with that crap about it being for horny teen boys… cause it is not. Plenty people… young and old, male and female, LIKE skimpy armor.
My appologies for the bad language, but I simply do not get why anyone is against this. Against having the CHOICE.
Why this assumption that skimpy outfits are obejctifying? Some girls LIKE those outfits. Not only stupid, ignorant girls. Strong, independant women that know what they want, just as much as the lady in a full gown. Girls and women that are not afraid to show their skin and shape. They don’t do this for the men or the boys, but because they like it. Heck I know I would if I had the body of my toon. It would be pride of myself and not for any man.
Why can’t we have both options? What is so wrong with skimpy armor for those that like it, as long as the other options are also avaiable to everyone else?
This is kinda silly argument I think. Do we not agree that we want more options?
Malafide wants her lightarmor user to use decent, realistic possible armor. She should certainly have that option, more so than it is possible atm.
I want skimpy armor for my medium armor user, something which is very limited atm, same as decency is for light.
As I see it what we ALL want here is more and different options, depending on our armorclass. What this is about… all in all. Is variation. Give us more variation! More skimpy medium armor, more decent light armor… and whatever the heavy users need to expand their options. All will be happy!
No, no and no. Mounts has no place in this game.
You get points for creativity in your OP, but the idea is still bad. Nice troll though.
ZIP
We are asking for choice, what is wrong with that? There really is NOT that many skimpy options, unless you wear light armor and that sucks. As a sylvari ranger I found 1 set. 1!! that shows her back… whats the point of that beautyful glow she got when I can’t show it.
It is a fantasy game, people love fantasy armor, and GW is about looks above all else. I do not like CoF armor, I think it is ugly, but I know people love it and even if I do not agree I sort of understand. There is options for more realistic armor in the game… just gotta look for it.
I completely agree that GW1 had some nice armor skins, although I prefered elite druid and some of the elementalist armors. We just got different tastes I guess.
What we are here is pro-choice. I and others want to be able to choose skimpy armor, without being limited to a very very few skins, even if we are medium or heavy. Some want the cool looking, magicaly powered armor like CoF. Some want fully covering armor, even if they are light armor. Some want realistic. There should be options for all. Atm I will say that (at least in the medium armor range) skimpy is the most lacking. There is realistic, nearly no skin showing armor en mass.
I do honestly not see what is wrong with skimpy armor. I too regret there is not more choices for those who like it (at least with medium armor).
Note that OP is not asking for all armor to be skimpy… he is asking for CHOICE, how can anyone be against that?
You should be able to have full set of well covering armor if that is what you like, and you should be able to get skimpy armor if that is what you like. This should be regardless of race, armorclass and gender.
Oh and I do not see it as objectifying women… some women LIKE to show skin, strong women that are proud of their body and don’t care about the sterotypes of society.
It is not impossible that it will happen, although perhaps something different than minis or tonics… we cannot know as DigitalKirin said.
Some months till we will found out.
