Never in my life did I expect anyone to suggest anything like no jumping. Why I feel like going in game and jump around some.
Who says all of it is not there already? They are from achievement chests afterall, and though I am certain some have tonnes more points than me, surely it is not to say of other pieces may be in there in the future.
Actually I agree with Redenaz…. the horror of full Radiant everywhere… my poor poor eyes.
Why this, having to return to get certain stuff every x minutes reminds me of fb games. I may be a chef too, but strangely not instrested in this.
I still hope for an expansion as it (as mentioned above) deliver something different from Living Story. I like LS for most part, but in no way or form does it substitute what an expansion might do.
I want expansions mor like GW1 than of other MMO’s btw, no raising level cap or some such. I am fine that they added ascended as that is afterall still somewhat minor. But beyond that, I don’t wanna see our current toons, made useless all of a sudden.
Only if it is in an expansion.
New professions, races and story that doesn’t fit in living story (such as taking on the next Elder Dragon) belongs in expansions, not in “everyday updates”.
And before someone says “they said they wont make expansions”, they never said such thing, they said that their maybe and mights, but no definite never. If they are smart they make an expansion. Imo anyway.
Thanksgiving have not been a holiday celebrated in game, so I don’t see that as much of a reason. I wouldn’t be against it per se. But since Thanksgiving is not celebrated in game, the reason seems kinda silly.
Nay.
Unless they make one for Sieran and Forgal too.
Sieran was so much more loveable than Tybalt to me.
Why I thought of that same thing.
I am most certainly getting Kudzu (I adore it). But all in all more legendary skins to choose from would be nice. In a way great sword got 2-3 skins (I know that they are a lot a like. But still more than everyone else gets to choose from). I would certainly love a different shortbow.
I would hate it tbh. Bad enough we got the chainsaw at halloween. It is just silly. So is the Jack in the Box harvesting though. Rather not see more of that.
But it might happen and thats when I am happy gathering is a rather smallish thing and I wont be bothered by it too much.
Better idea. They make something else that is not ugly and boring.
Anywaaaays. It was never meant as permanent content, but as Aprils Fool joke. That it came again for a short time was because apparently it was popular. (which beats me).
Don’t expect it to make a come back, it might, but it is certainly not a given.
In regards to the Gods. GW1 was human centered and humans thus the focus was entirely on a human point of view. The lore we got was human lore, their beliefs etc. etc.
This clearly does not work in GW2 where have a multiracial view. It is like real life history. (These things were ancient history already in GW1 times). No one really knows what exactly happened, history is always written from the view of the victors and all that. I know we have been able to record and find out about historic stuff for a long time and can know things fairly well. But fact is new things may get unearthed.
In Tyria I believe that the humans anno GW1 really did honestly believe in the information we were given on the gods. It even makes sense for some to still believe it to be so, while others take up new information and beliefs.
I would bring up rl religious parallels but dare not, this is not the place.
The only thing bothering me is the alliances. The Flame and Frost one aswell as the Toxic alliance. Apparently in both cases we have had Scarlet pull the strings, with a silver tongue (argueably not shown much in the game). Tricking the fractions into seeing some advantage in it for them. I will still give it the benefit of the doubt and see where it goes.
In the end. Anet decides what the lore is. We may deem their changes good or bad, and honestly it can be confusing where they are going with it all. But all in all it is theirs.
Appologize for not wanting to read 25 pages on the topic, so just gonna go from the OP.
Now for a large part I like Living Story and enjoyed my share of it, while some of it I skipped, since it was not that intresting.
I hear lots about Living Story means no expansions and a lot of people want expansions and no living story… well… I really want both.
Living Story while having some greatness to it, is not able to do what an expansion would. What I would sort of. Expect or hope for, would be:
Expansion: Take on the other dragons, open up more vast new places, continents, continue on the personal story (I see personal story and living story as very seperate beings), maybe add new race/s and profession/s (note just maybe). All in all much like the Campaigns and the EOTN expansion was done in the original Guild Wars.
Living Story: Much like now, seperate events from personal story, taking place between maingame and possible expansion/s, adding to the game world in smaller aspects, as is already done.
I would be very disapointed if all we get is just more and more living story and what seems like smaller bites of content. If the next Elder Dragon is only part of a living story event. I would be extremely disapointed if we never get any expansions.
Living Story cannot replace what an Expansion can do. Sorry.
For medium armor female in priory all but 1 set covers everything. Makes me a sad camper.
And miss out on the awesome costume brawling that comes with them? No way.
Sorry, I see your point of view and choose to disagree (or at least not care). There are many good looking armors in game.
And yes these would, (aside from ridiculous giant pumpkin heads) look pretty neat as armor too. BUT. Thats not what they are for, so deal with. If it was normal armor they would have to have 3 different skins and not just 1 for each of them, to make it heavy, med and light, and certainly then someone would be disapointed.
I don’t see how the kodan could be playable. They are polarbears? How do you customise that? Sure their lore is fairly interesting, but there is 0 difference on male and female, besides armor they are all identical. Not much fun in that.
(before anyone says, no difference on male/female asura or charr then… yes.. there is a difference, even if somewhat subtle, but you can tell the difference, and fairly easily too)
Tengu… I am so in favor of tengu, they are interesting and there is lots of room for customisation. Sure they were kinda lookalikes in GW1, but then so was charr back then. They got good story behind them too.
Largos… well dunno, maybe, maybe not. I remain neutral on that one.
Krait… eeeh not really seeing it as an option.
As for their story, I don’t think it has to follow the same time frame. It could be after. All the living story events take place after we beat Zhaitan afterall. A new race would have a different starting point and what not. Maybe have their own story like the others up to a certain lvl, make them join the pact, which is already there, and the merge with the other already existing races in a battle against one of the other dragons.
PS. I really wish for 3-4 new races and possibly 1 new heavy profession. Would balance it out nicely with 3 of each (light, heavy and medium) and the possibilty to have 1 of each race as 1 of each profession. But that is just me dreaming ofc.
Anyone notice that the prince’s face looks just like the Mad Moon?
Oh my me… Didn’t at all think of that. But there is similarities.
But sylvari is not supposed to fit into the human perception of beauty. I actually really like the last 2 faces with assymetri. Changed to the more human face, but kinda regret it, doesn’t feel quite right. Miss my old face.
Thing is Anet said even from the very begining they didn’t want people restricted in their choice of race/profession, due to something like efficiency. Thats why there is no real difference on races aside from the visuals and lore.
If they made asura warriors just a little more squishy than norn and charr, it would seriously affect those having or wanting an asura warrior, given that a 0.0000000000000001% is enough to make people scream inefficient and never allow it on their teams in dungeons or such.
Sadly even the smallest difference could have a huge effect. Actually already met some that said a norn ranger would be better than a sylvari ranger (or any other ranger) because of racial skills, even if they did admit that racial skills are weaker than profession skills.
So even though I can see the idea in making the races feel more different, I would fear the effect such would have on the community and on the chosen race/profession combinations.
For me it is just not fun doing the same event all the time. I’ve done it quite a few times during the Boss Week, managed to get it down once and that is good enough for me.
Also don’t wanna get the “we all fail if you don’t get on the server ts”.
Some people are prolly like me, sorta casual, not intrested in farming as such.
Yes, and I would also buy any other expansion or campaign, they could possibly add. CE if they made it too.
Like living story, do some of it, don’t do other stuff. No oblication to do it, but if it is interesting I’ll go for it.
Its meant to be funny?
Thank you Kirsten
Well it is not that the new styles are not well made, they really are ofc. but they just don’t fit the style I wish for my sylvari.
I like to make my characters sort of a mirrored image of me, taking on something I can identify with. I suppose I wanted short “hair” for my sylvari since I got short hair, and well mohawks are cool. How to best make one though… honestly I am not sure. Mossy and grassy just came to mind with that, but then there may be better materials for that.
On a side note, maybe work with some of these http://www.smashinglists.com/10-lovely-flowers-which-bloom-only-at-night/ perfect for the night cycle sylvari
The moon flower got a really interesting shape before blooming.
Water lilies are among my favorite flowers, but I can see them being difficult to make into a good hairstyle.
Mohawk or not I think moss could be very interesting.
Just a few different kinds: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/1b/Moss.jpg

Sort of ultra short, without being bald
All for a new sylvari elite, sure. But not Conjure Caladbolg. Trahearne got it, deal with it.
Racial skills are less useful than profession skills, should be that way… although I suppose some of the racial skills is a bit too rubbish.
Well although I am all happy that they added new styles, they are just kinda… well… meh to me. Still waiting to see a style that I really want for my sylvari… right now I just settled with one, but not entirely happy with it.
So yeah. Keep up the good work and make even more styles for the future. Maybe there will eventually be one I can adore.
Forgetting that in the storyline Kurzicks and Luxons got allied in the end. Ofc. without affecting the PvP.
Personally I don’t want to see alliance vs horde like fractions. I don’t need to hate anyone, and I want to play with any friend that I can get to play the game, without limiting them in their choices, because of what I originally chose.
Luxon/Kurzick like fractions, well it worked in GW1 and it was primarily based on the PvP aspect only. That I could live with.
@Seraph. I know that, but if you followed the real life counterpart in everything, GW2 would be a very very different game.
Are norn in GW all female deities? Do asura seem at all budhist/hindi themed?
Tengu already lived in Kryta, Shiverpeaks and the Maguuman/Tarnished Coast far from Cantha. Only 2 of the 3 tribes were from Cantha. And at least one of the tribes have a named that comes from somewhere entirely different (Quetzal, being the name of a South American bird, which was named after an Aztec deity).
I certainly think Tengu would do well in asian theme, but I see no reason for them to wait till we see Cantha, as it is far from the homeland for all of the tengu and their Capital is afterall in Tyria.
Try reading the entire post next time.
Thank goodness I don’t give kitten about what others think about what I choose to equip. There is no way I could afford CC it and I wouldn’t want to. It is for my personal enjoyment, not for anyone else.
Tengu? Warmachine?
Nononono that doesn’t fit. Besides Tengu already got some lore behind them, even if most of it dates back to GW1.
Also are you suggesting players divided into two warring fractions? Not gonna happen I’m afraid, certainly hope not anyway.
Although I can see the reasoning of “we wont see them untill we go to Cantha”, I am not so sure why it should be so. Their capital city (Domion of Winds) is in Tyria. Not all the tengu tribes came from Cantha, only two of them infact (Angchu and Sensali). The other 3 are from Tyria. Shiverpeaks, Kryta and Tarnished coast respectively (Avicara, Caromi and Quetzal).
Even if their name comes from Japanese folklore, it doesn’t mean overly much. Asura afterall are either Hindi deities or Budhist powerbeings. Norn are infact a group of all female deities ruling destiny, (like the fates of the Greek myths).
Clearly the origin of the name and the name in GW2 is not to be understood the same way.
The Quetzal tribe is named after some very colorful, tropical, birds, from South America. If anything tengu like all the other races would be a mix of different cultures and myths and stuff. Keeping maybe some to the Asian theme, but not being bound by it.
Alright.
First of rangers and thieves are the only two professions that can use the shortbow, so saying “all the others that use shortbow” overstating a bit as there is just that one other class.
Now Rangers are more or less meant to, stay clear of the foes and shoot them down, while others take the front. As a ranger you will often be in long or midrange.
Thieves on the other hand are as others said meant to be a mid to closerange combatant. If the ranger is a sort of sniper trying to do damage before the foe gets too close, the thief is to jump in, do some damage and get out again as fast as possible.
Sorry but the way it already is, is fine and makes sense.
PS. I love both classes as one is my main and the other is my primary alt.

I know it is not as good as some of the other things here. But lets just look at the idea. The greenish flat stuff, is supposed to be moss, and the blue a type of grass. Just really want a short, stylish mohawk.
Can’t wait to get more hairstyles. Have had a hard time settling for the perfect style for my main. Definitely wont be that fern hair though, it is nice, but really not me.
I do feel inspired to try making some hairstyles myself
@CHIPS. How about keeping it to GW lore?
I agree that a bit more seriousness wouldn’t hurt, although I personally don’t mind the lightheartedness.
Agreed. The only way I notice it is night is by the bioluminence on my sylvari “hair”.
You are not really meant to stay in the same spot all that long
But yeah maybe they repeat themselves a tad too often alright.
Didn’t all the musaat die? I mean like… completely extinct?
I think you make it way way worse than it is. Sure they could look a tad better. The shark is not bigger than it is for a reason I am sure… you can’t really have giantic pets. Gotta be of a reasonable size.
Remember also that all ranger pets are juveniles.
I am with Goatsjugsoup on this. Who are we to say how a baby look of another species.. heck look at the real world.
Many reptiles are born as perfect miniatures of the adults.
A foal (horse baby) will have ridiculously long and thin legs.
Then many animals, are not babies for very long, and such juveniles are just smaller versions of the older individuals of the species.
Clearly I’ve been playing the wrong way… I haven’t done daily every day. Focused on it some times… got it randomly at others and not gotten it at other days cause I simply didn’t feel like it.
I am not gonna call you elitist, I am not gonna disregard your opinion, because sure more content is welcome… a little challenge would be nice too… as long as it doesn’t end up excluding any classes… If anything it would be nice if some classes got a bit of love so those that are elitist don’t deny them a place all the time.
But… you cannot speak for all PvE’ers. Even if you are right in some of the things you say, you simply cannot speak for all PvE’ers… you are not our voice.
You speak for a group of PvE’ers that should surely not be disregarded though. I don’t care for fractals, I haven’t done all dungeons yet. But I love the game… sure generel PvE is easy… its alright with me most of the time however. I am not fed up. I am not gonna leave.
Oh and I absolutely love the Living Story, much better than Fractals imo. We are all different like that.
@Spencer: Report them for what? I tried… they are not botting… they are not spamming or selling gold… not verbal abuser. There is no leecher report option.
It ought to be there though. Would solve some of the problem this makes.
I had a 4 vs 5… cause someone was afk that became 3 vs 5…
I am sorry to say that most of the things you want are kinda unrealistic.
Just my opinion, but Lions are probably also alive beyond the blazeridge mountains, since Charr are basically talking lions who can walk on 2 legs.
i dont know about you but i havent seen any lions with horns, plus most cats have retractable claws, so if anything, theyre related to doggies… either that or cheetah side but they look too stocky to be cheetahs
Charr are most definitely big cats (with unique/demonic features) and in no way related to canines.
Sorry for off topic, but had to.
I like quaggans, they are cute and a bit funny. But… they have no potential as playable at all. Their role is sort of… well, they induce the desire to protect them.
They give an extra incentive to move forward and fight, they are all babylike afterall Almost like parenting instincts.
And seriously… armor would look completely ridiculous on them… and their rage form is quite ugly.
The only races already in the game, but not playable as of yet, I see as having the potential is largos and tengu.
Doesn’t seem like a good idea to me.
For one I wanna play a tengu… not a wannabe tengu.
Then remember that racial skills are always inferior to profession skills, making the race kinda… well… they’d be all about that flavour, which would be a disadvantage to use… at least in highend content.
Where would it fit in lore? Lore is a big deal to a lot of players, although you can add to it a lot, it has to make some kinda sense.
Imo it is not getting a cool new race, its getting a cheap copycat instead of the real thing.
@ FlamingFoxx that indeed is true.
Asura is an old word too… as is norn.
Asura are hindu powerseeking deities.
Norn is a group of female deities in norse mythology, that controls the fate of gods and humans.
Actually after looking up the original meaning of the 2 it seems that traditionally it would be asuras and norns, but then wiki might not always be right.
Personally I just think norn and asura sound better… asuras and norns just sound a bit off.
Yep definitely looks lion and not lynx. Especially since we do have lynx pets that look way different, so not a case of ANet being weird with what some animals look like.
You don’t die in GW2 anyway.. you just get knocked out. I know it says number of deaths if you /deaths, but that is more for easier understanding. It was stated even before release that it was like that. So it would make more sense to kill of story characters.
