Will we ever see new playable Races?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Zeefa.3915

Zeefa.3915

I find the notion that race adds nothing and profession adds gameplay interesting. While I do not deny that professions do add to playstyle I strongly disagree with race adding nothing. It would add some new story, contribute to the lore, give new aesthetics.

I can’t be bothered to make all professions, because… sure they are a little different, but ultimately it is the same story, the same aesthetics etc. What would make me make some of the other professions is if I could combine it with a different race than my current characters.

As for reworking the existing personal story… no… thats not how I imagine it getting done. It should be a story for that (future) expansion, where the new race gets its own start, untill they join up with the point where all the other races are. So it would be a new tie in, at a new point in time, with Zhaitan and most likely Mordremoth already dead.

But yeah… as much as I would want new races (at least tengu), it seems unlikely at this point. No incentive for me to make more characters than the 5 I have, but oh well.

It’s not that the name is bad in and of it self… but the fact that everyone, regardless of profession and specilization hunts dragons… just makes it seem a little off to me.

But we will have to learn to live with that little odditty.

Interesting… don’t think I have ever seen a wizard in the game. Is it a new profession that will come in HoT. Pretty sure it was only revenant we would be getting.

Anyways if you wanna go for zerger ele groups, its your choice, whatever floats your boat.
But it does not give you any points and the game would be pretty boring without the other professions. If anything A-Net gains points for having a game that allows you to play in zerger ele groups as you please while others can play their guardians, wariors, rangers, necros, etc. in various other types of groups if they so please.

by “zerger ele groups”
you mean groups with 5 eles with full clerics gear? :P

Op was talking about zerker wizard groups. I don’t actually know what people run, was only going by the op.

Suggestion - Birthdays

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Zeefa.3915

What about one skin from Hall of Monuments? Some of us didn’t play GW1 and doesn’t want to. One skin, though, would make your birthdays meaningful (including altholics with 20+ characters) and rewardable. 1 skin wouldn’t break the game.

No… those are exclusive to those who put in the time in GW1 and it should stay that way and what would those who already got it get for their birthdays?… Bad idea.

Some sort of skin weapon or armor would be nice though… best if made exactly for the purpose of birthdays, so you cannot get it by other means.

But really… I don’t mind what we got the last years, yes it was fairly useless… especially getting multiple Jennahs. I would like something nicer, but its not like I care overly much.

New Lion's Arch vs Destroyed Lion's Arch

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Zeefa.3915

I like the new LA… while destroyed LA may have had all the conveniences around the place it always seemed un-needed to me and also it looked very depressing. Now I want to hang out there again.
The distances really aint that bad… I don’t understand this idea of these seconds being wasted as being that horrible.
As for armor repair, there is a repair station just inside of fractals, before you start (I think, really sorry if I am wrong). Pretty sure they are in WvW too, although I am not sure about how conveniently close they are placed. Yes it would be convenient to have them near the portals in LA too and I can support that, but I don’t think it is that horrible either, that they are not there yet.
Don’t see the need for more wp though…. or crafting stations in every corner… overkill imo… but I do get that I may be in minority with that opinion.

Inspired Character Names!

My main, sylvari ranger, is named Oíche, which is irish for night. Was originally going for Aisling, but it was taken in all its possible variations by others faster than me. In the end I am quite happy it got to be Oíche instead

My charr thief, is named Kitla Wildclaw, dunno where I go Kitla from it jus kinda happened and Wildclaw is the name of one of my GW1 characters.

My asura necro is named Zeefa… she actually had that name prior to my account and I regret using it for my account too as it implies she is my main which she has never been… anyways it is buttonmash name reajusted to fit with asura name conventions.

My norn ele is named Alva Gunnarsdottir, not sure why I chose Alva, other than it sounded nice, Gunnar is the actual name of my father and I am his daughter, so it made sense to me, went with the icelandic word for daughter rather than danish (which I am) or english as I thought it just sounded better (and icelandic is closer to the old nordic language, which the vikings would have spoken)

My human engineer is named Kiliasja, an old buttonmash name I created many years ago and still see use from time to time.

All in all I want my characters to have names that go reasonably well with lore of the race and

Soloing Zhaitan

Zeefa.3915

The first time I got that point on my main I was disapointed that I had to get a group for it, and as such that took away from my enjoyment of it. That was also before the first nerfs, so it was actually kinda difficult… ofc. it was also the first time and that does make a difference too.

Done it post nerfs but prior to the new solo change on 3 characters (and repeated a few times on my main), mostly because guildies needed it and then I just joined up… not bothered to seek it out, for the characters that needed it. I had sorta accpeted that it was not to be enjoyed on my own like the rest of the personal story, although thats what I wished for, from the very begining.

Done it solo now on the 1 character that did not have it yet and quite enjoyed it, the difficulty felt pretty much on par with, when I did it with a decent group, so all in all I just wish I could have experienced it this way the first time.

I really like when story… be it personal story or living story works as solo, but is challengeing enough that some people decide to do group for it. For many of the slightly more challenging LS chapters I did them solo first, fully enjoyed having to figure out what to do and enjoy MY story, after that I got to enjoy helping others through who struggled with it more than I did.

What're your favorite hairstyles?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Zeefa.3915

Zeefa.3915

I am one of those with a bald asura… because I honestly did not like any of the hairstyles at all. There are some I might like in exclusive to the kits… maybe… but at this point I like my asura to stay as she is. She wears her helmet all the time anyway.

Also had a difficult time with my charr, as I again did not like most of the styles… most of the styles even from the kits just look kinda off to me. But it is better than for asura anyway.

For norn, human and sylvari I am able to find multiple styles I like though. Sylvari may be my overall favorite in this regard as with almost everything else in their design. While it can obviously be said for any of the races I feel it goes even more so for sylvari that they are art. The details, the structures, the symmetri and lack of such, the colors the glow, it all just speaks to my creativity.

Underwater Improvement: Bubbles!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Zeefa.3915

Zeefa.3915

I like the underwater stuff, for most part. Not experienced the issues that other tell about tbh. But since it is that many I wont argue about it. Might depend a little on which profession it is too. I really enjoy underwater combat on my main, which is a ranger, but not so much on my thief or necro.

It would be incredibly sad if it never got expanded upon, as there is much potential, many possible beautiful maps (what I would not give to swim in a possibly “melted” jade sea). So maybe some adjustments needs to be done, for it to be a better experience for everyone, and then add to it.

Fluffy tails

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Zeefa.3915

Zeefa.3915

Yeah it is a shame they took the tail selection out from the game. When it was in Beta Charr no matter gender could pick fluffy or non fluffy

Lies. Unless it was the early closed betas, this is not the case. Certainly was not the case in the betas that occured after the pre-purchase became an option. The tail difference is the main diffrenciator of the genders of charr (I believe intentionally from Anet).

My charr is female because I am female and thus I make only female characters. The fluffy tail is just a bonus.

They wont be around anytime soon I think. Unfortunately.
With HoT not adding playable races, it seems it will be a long time before we will see it happen, if we will see it happen.

Again unfortunately, cause I would really, love them too. Especially since I from the start wanted only 1 of each race, which obviously means I wont be getting each profession… not that big a deal as I don’t really desire them much anyway, but still, could be neat if I could add them via new races

So I would really love this too, but think we will wait a long time… hopefully not forever.

so or so I like the idea its like a next level of gaming

Well yeah that could be possible too since, when it comes to designing content sky is the limit. That goes twice in cases where pretty much all the mechanics are in place. You can probably put same content in any game mode (open world, spvp, and guild fun activity).

Best fossil pokemon evar.

OT. I think I at least get it now, but sorry… I can’t really get behind this idea… doesn’t really seem that great to me.

I believe elaboration of it is in order. First you misunderstood the suggestion. Then derailed it with pokemons. And then you don’t like it without giving any explanation. I mean we all fight champion monsters on daily basis. Is it because it’s player driven?

I was not the only one mentioning pokemon though, I do know it was offtopic, hense the OT meaning on topic afterwards. Not my fault I did not know the games you were talking about and when you don’t know those games the suggestion at first is hard to understand and obviously not able to make a stand without understanding. Actually I am fine with the concept as a PvP format of some kind, might actually be fun. But I really really want for PvP and PvE to be seperate. I get that part of the idea is to make champions more difficult, but I don’t think they have to be that.

So as a minigame of sorts, instanced or PvP format, might be really fun. But in the open PvE world… not really… sorry.

Ritualist Profession ?

Revenant will take in some of the ritualist like qualities along with a little bit of dervish (at least thats what can be perceived with what we’ve seen)

Prior to that Guardian actually had/have some of the rit elements, without the aesthetics (spirit weapons instead of actual spirits)

Now I really loved ritualists in GW1 and would by no means be against seeing them as they were again… buut with the above in mind I don’t think we will see the ritualist of old return. Can just hope the revenant will bring in more of the feel from it, where guardian purely had a minor mechanic.

As for sword warhorn, which I also use on my ranger I like the ones we have, so no particular thought on that.

Lack of content?

While I very much would love a proper expansion ala how it was done in GW1… I will defend Anet a bit here.
While Living World is not perfect, each bite seemingly small and it feels slow because you rush through it in an hour and wait 14 days… longer if other events like the holidays come up…. it does amount to something after a while, and unlike Season 1 of the LS, Season 2 is permanent and there for you to play at any time you please.

So it is not exactly a complete lack of content.

Expansion wont satisfy me

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Zeefa.3915

While an expansion would not end all problems ever with GW2, it would still be very welcome.
Would it be able to satisfy everyone? No… clearly nothing will do that. Would it make a lot of fans happy? Yes very much so.

I don’t think anyone expects nearly as much as you suggest in the OP.
I would be completely happy with just 1 more playable race, don’t really care for more professions, but again 1 or 2 would most likely keep most people happy.

They don’t need to add what you’re looking for into expansion … Living story will cover what you want.

Actually Living Story can cover most of the most demanded features community is asking.

Why ask for expansion when they can just drop a bit of an actual expansion with every few episodes of the Living Story Arcs ?

Because an expansion just feels more satisfying and you are able to enjoy it at your own pace to a much larger extend. While I don’t hate on Living Story and it really is alright, it just don’t have that feeling. With an expansion I could play the story when I want at my pace and not have to wait for each bit… LS is 10% enjoying the story and 90% waiting for the next bit. Expansion would 100% enjoying the story untill the end, with only the breaks you create. Would there be wait again after that… yes… but it would not be mid story which completely breaks the flow and immersion with that story.

So while LS definitely have something to offer and I do enjoy that 1 hour every 2 weeks… I completely disagree that it is in any way comparable to an expansion.

Grind to me is when a task any task gets really boring and unenjoyable and repetive, so it becomes a negative.
However despite getting 50/50 in HoM and getting gwamm in GW1 I never once felt like I was grinding, because I always stopped, took a break or changed to something else before it got too boring.

There is nothing in the game (or any game) that is worth sitting through any lenght of something unenjoyable. Yes I do want a legendary weapon, but I don’t want it at the expense of having a good time, so it might take a while and that is perfectly okay… I will get there, in my own time, doing things I like. I first heard of GW2, while still playing GW1, as I would look around the wiki and came upon this tiny bit of information… there really was nothing much at that point, other than… we will get a new game instead of another campaign or expansion.

At first I did not follow the information that much (there was not that much information to get… it was years before release) but as information became more plentiful as it got closer I followed everything… checked certain sites daily and made sure to be awake to watch the very first trailer, the very moment it got out.
I was on the exitement train and bought the CE as pre-purchase, the very second that I could.

After years of love and thousands of hours spend in GW1 having done all there was to do… some things twice… I needed something new and loved GW2 from the first beta… where I regretably could not take part in the final event… I did for the other betas though.

Been playing since headstart and still love the game, although my relationship with GW2 is more turbulent than the one I had with GW1. I never had a regret in GW1 and I never really felt disapointed about any of the content. With GW2 I sometimes have doubts about the future and I may get bouts of disapointment, boredom and discontent about things…. but it rarely last too long and always end up back in love with the game.

Ah ofc. Heart of the Mist… acronyms too alike. But aren’t all the npc already there? I don’t know cause I don’t PvP.

Then again you can enter Heart of the Mist from absolutely anywhere and get back to where you were too, so again we have if they were there, Anet could not sell those passes and tickets and stuff to benefit from having access to all those things from absolutely anywhere.

I think it is only Hall of Monuments and not Hall of the Monuments, so that makes it HoM not HotM, the t does not belong there… had be really confused what with was about… actually still think it may be something else, but don’t know what that would be lol.

But all the practical npc wont be put in HoM… I mean how are they supposed to sell Royal Place passes or Airship Tickets or whatever the next thing is, if people can just get the Portal Stone (everyone can get one, not just GW1 Veterans… or so I hear).
I would just love to see HoM come to use in some way… maybe one day when we get to Jormag, we will find a path there and it gets integrated with the rest of the explorable world and it will then be inhabited by npcs.

I am definitely not against the idea, I would benefit from it and I would have a reason to visit that nice place, but I don’t think they will do it, for above reasons.

Did they (almost) fix the Personal Story?

Had not seen this, thanks telling about it. But yeah Temple of the Forgotten God is in there twice now.
Glad that Apatia is back in my log though.
