Opinions on the Largo Race!

Zeefa.3915

Firstly.
A reason tengu is more anticipated is not only that they were in GW1 and really quite intresting, with the possibilty of a lot of customisation etc. It is also because they as the only non playable race already got a big home city (no kodan do not have that) already got at least one of the personal story question in place by being divided into 4 houses AND they were planned as playable for release, but did not make it through the initial release, but they are definitely still on the table I bet.

I really want tengu as first new playable race if they ever do give us more races. BUT. I also like largos and would definitely play one of them, I expect and want tengu more as a first, but I would be sorta ok with largos too, but then tengu had to be up next.

Full Hellfire and Radiant armour?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Zeefa.3915

@Zaoda. Those are not concepts for armorskins and not for GW2. It is GW1 concepts. Top one is Avatar of Balthazar that a dervish (profession from GW1) could turn into. Bottom one is Avatar of Grenth which is also a skill transform that dervish had. The middle one is Margonites, a hostile, evilish race that followed the now dead god Abadon in GW1 also. So there you have why they are not in GW2 as armorsets, because that was never what it was meant to be.

Now on topic. I don’t see the problem with it being that long term goal. They clearly did it because some people really are insanely close to achieveing that and they don’t want to make it retroactive again. And this way I wont have to worry about my eyes melting from the masses of radiant armor when I enter LA untill way long from now.

You keep calling it armor but that is not what it is, it is a costume and that is fine.
It is the only cultural costume.
As for cultural armor there are 3 sets for each armor class for each race, so don’t know where you get that there are not cultural armors from.

Now you may not like them, but they are there.

Well I used my alts to get alternative personal story (yes I completed PS on all 5 of my toons), get cultural armor, working on world completion on one of them atm. But for new content, dungeons, LS and such I use my main.

I guess it is a matter of how you feel about them and how you like to play. Most of my alts just sitting in character selection screen and thats it.

It can be making a cosplay costume, drawing something with pencils, markers, painting etc. etc. digital media from photoshop and illustrator to various other programs. It can be sculpting, be it clays wax (there are sculpting wax) or wood cutting.

It can be any and all materials, be digital or physical, it can also be a story, so it really is just find what you like to use, whatever you use if you already do some art and is comfortable with.

Something missing from the original

Zeefa.3915

Good, rewading PvP?
Lack of grind?
Easily available max stat gear?
Expansions with good stories, lore and content?

Yea there s plenty missing in GW2.

Yet people were complaining about grind a lot in GW1 too, baffles me that someone did notice this.
I can’t say anything for PvP I hated it then and I hate it now, so pretty samey for me.
No matter what others say I really don’t see ascended being a must have and exotics are really easy to get and you can do fine with those. Granted there IS a higher tier, but I bet it will be easier to get with time.
I personally think GW2 has a decent story and you know… people complained about the story in GW1 too, I heard many times that factions and nightfall had bad stories. GW2 is still young and I have not yet given up entirely on some good expansions.

To OP. It is called nostalgia and it makes you see what used to be with rosetinted glasses and gives you a fuzzy warm feeling about the past while making you feel something is missing in the present and end up in an empty feeling. It removes the ability to appreciate the new and accept change, which is essential to moving on to the future without being constantly unhappy.
A little nostalgia from time to time doesn’t hurt though.
There will always be something “missing” from the old in the new, thats what happens when you move forward.

I loved GW1 very dearly and never felt the grind some claimed was there (and they did complain about that… a lot, so that is not new), I loved the stories and the characters (even Kormir) I took it for what it was and did not go for anything that was not fun for me. GW2 is very different play wise, and the world has changed, but I love that too. As much as the world changed I still love it, I love finding remains from the past as much as I love finding things that are new. I love the story (though I would not replay it again any time soon, if ever) and I love the characters (even Trahearne). My new toons are new lives, new personalities and new stories (the ones I make myself aside from the games), and each is somewhat linked to a different GW1 toon that I also cared for.

Lovestruck weapons: questionable symbolism

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Zeefa.3915

Let me try to explain this from a different perspective…

If a gunmaker IRL were to produce a fully functional firearm with a big red heart on the barrel, and then began advertising it a couple of weeks before Valentine’s Day, what kind of message would that send? Would that product simply be viewed as cute and inoffensive? Would people be lining up to buy them because they looked cool, or possibly to give as gifts to their loved ones? Perhaps I’m in the minority for thinking this way, but I suspect the gunmaker would instead be publicly reprimanded for marketing such a product.

Manufacturers make guns in pink and there are all kinds of cutesy gun parts available that are decorated with hello kitty, hearts, or whatever. Google pink gun, pink handgun, gun with hearts, etc. There doesn’t seem to be much uproar about it other than from people that have an issue with guns in general. From reports, they seem to be growing in popularity.

Well if that is indeed going to be the new flamekissed, then it is unfair to heavy and medium, since theirs is reskins of normal sets and that thing is definitely not a reskinning of a current set.

I know others (prudes?) are going to hate it, but I already love the top. I may even like the skirt, but hard to tell from that…. I would not be using the helmet, shoes or gloves though I think.

But I still think that instead of reworking what we already have, they should add new sets. I would even be happy with reworks of GW1 armor above reskins of GW2 armor. I would definitely like a tier or 2 more of cultural.

I do however not hate on temporary content, this game just have… too much of it. Holiday events + other smaller story or so events. The majority of LS would be better if it was replayable for people later on in the games life, by new people, instead of having this huge chunk of story and stuff they will never know of.

Personally I really want the female elite druid for my sylvari (or something slightly similar)
I know reskinning is somewhat frowned upon, but I kinda think it is different with GW1 skins. For those that did play GW1 it will be nice to see something from the old game they loved too come back to life and for those that did not play GW1 it is new skins entirely, as there is nothing like them (most of them) in GW2 yet.

They clearly can’t bring all the sets back, but say 1 or 2 for each gender and each profession that was in GW1 (there we already have a lot of skins), make a large puplic poll, link to it in news feed on login screen, link to it on their facebook page, link to it here on forum, so as many as possible see it and get to give their vote.

. . . and never play a ranger with a longbow.

Why not?

Point-blank shot will annoy people

I play ranger as my main character, and I use longbow most of the time, with sword warhorn as swap. I rarely use the point blank shot though, most time I use it is when I am on my own to push melee foes away from me. If I am playing with others/others are present in the event I will keep away from point blank shot. I know it annoys people, and I don’t really need it unless I am in danger.

Really learning to be careful with when to use skills can be key. Like with sword or shortbow on ranger and just smash all skills and you are anywhere near an edge with a nasty fall…. well… whatever you were fighting stops being a concern.

Gw2 is instanced to be easier to load and so the game can run on computers that are not super computers. One of the compromises to make it accessable to more people. (thats what I think they said anyway).

From what I’ve heard, either Koda or Tengu (i forget which) already have animations made and were intended to be in the vanilla game but didn’t make it. So Tengu and Koda will most likely be the first new playable race.

Obviously quaggans or skritt being playable is a joke so, I’d pick quaggan for the troll factor.

Guildwars2 Collector's Edition

Zeefa.3915

Well first off, all the in game items that comes with the CE is also in Digital Deluxe or Hero Editions, so you wont have anything in the game itself to show that you got CE and not just the digital version.

Now you get some nice physical stuff. I for one have my Rytlock figurine standing watch over my other collectibles including the boxes. The box looks pretty neat and I like the artprints and the custom frame. One day I may even get a few more frames made after the one thats in it so I can get my other artprints up. Lastly there is the making off the game book, which have some fairly nice information and concept art.
For me it was worth it, definitely and I would buy the CE if there was one in the odd case that Anet ever makes an expantion, and it is not just digital.

But few things you should consider. Will you have the Rytlock figurine standing on display or will it be hidden away somewhere. Will you have one of the artprints in the frame standing or hanging somewhere, or will they stay in the box. Will you read or look through the book or just leave it be. Basicly are you going to use the items or not.

I often get baffled when someone says “I can’t write that” and I am like “you sorta just did and I saw it just fine”. But then I realise some people might still use the profanity filter.

I honestly think this so called “profanity” is nonsens, people can be really nice and friendly spewing a little “profinity” without any harm to anyone, and people can be extremely mean and rude idiots without a single swear word.

Often I will say why bother with the filter (people that don’t seem to mind the swear words, and even use them and don’t realise the filter can be turned off) But sometimes someone have decided to turn the filter off and then proceed to be offended when someone uses “bad” words. To those I would like to say… if it offends you so much use the filter.

I have no idea how extensive or what the filter is, but since I actually want those that seem to be offended by a few words to use it, it would be nice if a thing like this was not an issue. I think.

1. Don’t really get what you are asking for on this… some kinda account based hero panel?

2. Trait templates that can be saved is a fairly good idea.

3. Could be handy, but where to put it? Don’t want more screen clutter.

4. I think making the current version work is priority, but further up the road ways to expand on the LFG tool is not unreasonable.

5. No opinion.

6. Definitely for that. I would love a different shortbow among other things.

7. I don’t particularly agree with your idea for this. You/Me the player is the hero (even if we’re not supreme leader or npc’s seem to forget us. Living story could definitely become better, but what “better” is, may vary greatly.

8. I am all for new dungeons, and would not mind minor updates on current dungeons… to some extend. But replacing paths? No. All paths should, add don’t remove or replace.

9. I don’t PvP and never will, but I am not against those that do like PvP to have more variety.

10. Eh no opinion.

But on my ele, ranger, thief, necro and engi I never had a problem gathering while in combat… well aside from getting too much damage and having to defend myself instead.
I find it hard to believe that they would have changed it to be harder to gather stuff.

I play only one character that being a lowly UNDERPOWERED Ranger and get ruined mats fairly frequently, although, I don’t know what Ranger trait is causing this, I know without doubt that it’s NOT from using the wrong tool since I am using the permanent gathering tools.

Sounds strange :/ my ranger is also my main and the one I spend the most massive time on, and as such the most often gathering and I still have not experienced it. Must be using different traits.

Sure it was not exactly fun, but it is sorta ok, because it is something needing new tactics and it is new to everyone so it takes time to figure out.

I noticed with wurms that they seem to have different strategies going. I was at amber wurm head, and reading the slick skin buff/condition it has it said it needed to be damaged with some harpoon spear something with its spit on it or some such… just could not find anything and the group that was there with me was dessolving and getting overpowered by the number of adds.
I am sure within a days time or so people will begin to understand what to do and there will be more successes.

I was getting a bit upset myself, about it all, but a little breather and things are fine. People did not defeat the new Tequatl right away either right.

I think the co-operation have been fairly good on my server actually. We do have a server ts, but not everyone uses it. But pretty much all we needed to know was conveyed by some decent commanders. The most important things are easily explained and all that before the event really starts and after that things pretty much explain themselves.
At least for the marionette event, dunno about wurm, cause did not get to do that yet.

I can see it is bothersome for you if you liked it as it was. But in my very own opinion shoulderpieces look ridiculous when too big (why I never ever use shoulderpieces on my charr and norn pretty much, aside from few exceptions where they are more subtle)…

I saw it, noted it was there and then went on as always without thinking about it any further.
It doesn’t need to be there, I could not care less if it is black or white or there at all. So if others would be happier with it differently I am not bothered.
