If you actually gave a single crap about the story you would know that there is more to it than just little old Scarlet.

That aside I agree with all you said. All those tidbits are actually fairly intresting and they kinda fill the same roles as the npc’s that OP mentioned, having back stories and their own motives and all that stuff. I am rather liking this new little asura girl.

It is perfectly ok to hate Scarlet and by all means to voice it (do we really need that many topics on it though), but it doesn’t change that it is there and I am sure most people actually do want closure on it, and it would be even more stupid for Anet not to put the last things in, since they worked on it for so long, what they can do is to not make this kinda thing once they do have closure on it.

I am by no means a fan of Scarlet and her story, there are way better stories out there, but nor do I see any reason to hate it at all. As I said the minor things are actually quite nice and I like Braham and Rox and this Taimi.

I am sorry… but it is just the icon, the armor is still unique, so not all that big a deal imo.

They never said a definite no (though some players read it like that) they just said that it was not something they were thinking off yet and something about wanting to give us content, but not having decided how yet.

I have high hopes for an expansion, I really think it would be bad for them not to make one.

People used all the same builds in PvP too, if they wanted to get somewhere.
Sure there were some diversity in GW1, but hardly any used it and those that did and wanted to play with others, would often be asked to change to meta builds.

I liked dual professions in GW1 and in my solo play with heroes at least my own toon had my own build, even is heroes were sabway. But I don’t think dual profession would work here in GW2. I am afraid this is one of those things that GW2 is not the same kinda game that GW1 was and you/we need to deal with that.

I love elves so don’t get me wrong… but they have 0 place in this game.

I honestly don’t think Kodan would make a good playable race, they lack way way much in customisation and there is 0 difference on male and female. They would need an overhaul so big that they wouldn’t really be kodan anymore which imo would be a shame. So despite being a favorite for many I am sort of against them as playable.

Hylek, quaggan, skritt and ogres are also no go. They are minor races in personal story, and Anet said about hylek that they were what can be done with a race that is not playable in the making off book.

Krait/naga and centaurs would be too akward and troublesome in regards to armor and animations for certain skills. I would kinda sorta like centaurs tbh, but I don’t see them as a viable option.

The only races with some potential to be playable is tengu and largos. Tengu pretty much already have all the basics covered as they were on the board for playable in the first place, no issues with armor and animations that we don’t already have on charr (I know that is not exactly all that positive, but it is still better than the others) and even if they would be way different from GW1 tengu they would not need to be completely overhauled and retconned lorewise. We know sufficiently little about largos for them to be almost anything… sort of.

The colors are part of the identifying factors of each profession, so I don’t see this change. Nor do I see a reason for it to change.

Although I can see your reasoning to this, I doubt it is just that. Anet is definitely inspired by various different sources, this especially goes for the races.
So where there may be some truth to your theory, there is way more to it than that.

Aside of that one part of the Ventari tablet I would actually not find wisdom as the best attribute for sylvari, they seek wisdom sure. But what defines them more imo is youth, curiousity, exploration and adventure. But that might just be me.

Winterdays was always in December in GW1 too (maybe not lorewise, but sure was mechanicly) With the final event at 31’st December/1’st January, now there just is no final (or I missed it) so whatever.

Our year might as well start at March rather than January, it is just a matter of where we decided to put it in. Infact it would make a bit more sense, since december comes deci or something which means 10 and so should be the 10th month and not the 12th.
There was Canthan newyear which is closer to spring, but that coincides with the real life Chinese newyear, dunno if you meant Canthan newyear, if not I am sorry, but if it is , it has nothing to do with extra days or anything.

It is kinda off topic, this discussion about powercreep, vertical progression and what not.
I think… or hope… that with ascended gear that was it, nothing stronger than that will come, and so far ascended is pretty much optional, as long as you don’t play fractals.
I am perfectly fine with them adding more ascended items, it is the higher tier now afterall. But I would rather not see them add ever stronger gear, and I sorta think they wont… or hope.

On topic. I can see where OP is going with his/hers idea, but well… They are what they are and wont change. As some more comedy forum goers hinted at, there is transmutation stones and crystals that makes it possible to have any look with any stat.

I don’t know for sure, but I would assume they disapear on tuesday when the new thing goes live.

It baffles me that it can take that long to realise you don’t like your chosen race.
Aside from Ascended, gear is really easy to get.

I was going to say Elite Druid too. Would be exactly what I want for my sylvari.

How about you just work to get a new one?
Maybe we will be getting new weapon skills, maybe one day we can swap them and gs will be great for you again. Keep it, even if you don’t use it, and hope that one day you will get a reason to use it again.

Is it not good enough that you can get them with karma and laurels?

Fear not. Sylvari cannot reproduce.
Maybe they wont need to get kids, no one knows how old sylvari can get or if they even really age. Trahearne could be around for a long long long long long time still. (Unlike most I don’t hate Trahearne, I actually sorta like him.)

I doubt anyone (Trahearne or Rox and Braham or anyone else on our side) will ally with Scarlet… Scarlet wont suddenly be reformed and rehabilitated and become a good citizen. I hope we get to kill her, end her schemes and make her never come back. At least not untill undead sylvari happens.

They are fairly well placed in the sylvari home instance imo.
I know they are not really worth all that much and I may have wasted my gems, but it is alright.

Now I don’t mind the black lion chests and keys, the chests just need to offer better stuff and a better chance at the things people actually want.
The dyes however are rubbish and I should have learned after flame and frost dyes that I should never spend a single gem on them. I bought quite a few back then and didn’t get a single of the new ones while I got only ommon dyes worth nothing.
Still I tried again this time as I had a few hegems left after getting the ore for the home instance and the new mask (love the mast) and once again I got only common rubbish dyes.
I will never waste another gem on dye kits from gemstore. If I truly want any of those dyes I get them of TP.

Actually mahariel I have been using sword warhorn in the few dungeon runs I been in, swapping with short or longbow depending on the situation. Never used bears, but canine… not felines granted, but at least not the bear.

Are you full zerker with scholar runes etc.? Do you also use Frost Spirit utility & Spotter Trait? These are usually what people look for during the first encounter aside from S/W weaponset.

Most teams want you in melee range ALL the time too. It’s because of boon range, you’re too far to give them boons/buffs and you’re too far to benefit from theirs if you’re on bow (plus 1h sword does the most damage). Consider having dagger on offhand swap instead of a bow.

Aside from that, if you’re being kicked as soon as you join and before they see you with a s/w are you making sure you’re not joining groups looking for specific classes only? If not, then it’s probably being a ranger + low achievement points that’s getting you kicked.

You did not read the first thing I said did you? I said I don’t even attempt to join groups, so I have not been kicked and I am not doing all those things, because I am not even going to try dungeons in the first place. May look for casual/fun/guild group at some point, or use an alt.

In terms of Faolain and Caithe, keep in mind that gender distinction with Sylvari are almost arbitrary, since a: the relationship is never sexual and b: gender roles are not present in sylvaren society, as there is no difference between genders (as far as we know). Introducing “genders” to the Sylvari was basically just to make the race feel a bt more familiar.

From what I remember of the old dev posts and interviews, the Sylvari do have genitalia, and they do engage in sex as well.

I don’t know where the blogpost is (unfortunately) but I remember reading it too. I think the wording was that they can still have “fun times” but cannot reproduce.

I don’t see how Majory and Kasmeer’s relationship is taking such a big role. I mean they are not that big in living story, and if not for the last one, and their talk outside of any instance, which you could easily miss I would not have guessed they were actually flirting.

Hethero relationships in PS aside from Logan and Jennah that I remember at the top of my head is Tonn and Ceera which is a married couple and really quite sweet though you never see them together. And Snarl Backdraft and Galina Edgecrusher, charr from different legions in a love/hate relationship, love them actually, their dynamic was the most amusing thing in Orr. Then there is Tiachren and Ysvelta from early sylvari story. Now I know it is more of a friendship but I kinda feel like mentioning Braham and Rox I am not sure why.

There is prolly way more, maybe also more samegendered, that just isn’t as noticeable.

I like that it is a DD and CE thing, it is not better than other skills and you wont really need it. It was/is a promotion thing to get DD or CE

I could say get over it, do it or not and bla bla, I did it afterall (and I am very anti pvp tbh) but I had going for me that it was free to move servers when I did so I jumped server to where the stuff was accessable (owned by whichever server I was on), otherwise I could have waited forever to cycle it.

But now I may have done it once, but would I want to do it again? Not so much. Was I a little upset that I had to go there in the first place? Not exactly upset, but I was not exactly happy either.

So I am not going to just tell you to get over it, I can understand this complaint.

There being an option to turn it off so no one can request duels with me, so I wont see it other than others fighting, seems somewhat reasonable.
I am still a little worried about the harrashing option though in a more indirect way, but as I said before I don’t have anyone I really wanna fight and as such I don’t have anyone that desperately wants to fight me (at least not that I know) and hopefully will keep things that way.

Never. This game has PvP and PvE be seperate things, which is great for a lot of people, me included.
And as for your arguments. Things don’t have to happen all the time, the city I live nearby don’t have things like that happening at all. And it is Ex Pirates, not actual pirates as such anymore. Lions Arch may be founded by some who USED to be pirates, but it has laws to follow and the Lion Guard is there to keep the peace.
There are better ways to solve conflicts than fight. And no we do not all have someone we want to fight, I certainly don’t.

They are kodan, a race of polarbear people. They come from the north seas with their iceberg ships. No they are not playable and likely/hopefully never will be.

If you ask me it would be just fine if it never came back. Not really an aprils fool to make the same thing again (even if it is a new world) . The skins are ugly (imo) and the content not worthwhile.

They likely make it return anyway though and I will find other things to do out in the world and hope I wont see those skins around too much.

Well I like them too, even did when I first saw them. They are wonderfully alien and sylvari are not human afterall. I don’t use any of the noseless faces, but not because I dislike them. I just liked another face better for my sylvari

Well my account must be cursed, I hardly even get rares anymore. I don’t even know what it feels like to get an exotic outside of TP anymore.

My theory is that, they may start with being named after a parent, then later they may earn another.
I know I called my norn Gunnarsdottir, because it was within whats lorefriendly, and my dad (in rl) is named Gunnar, so I wanted to use that.

Tbh I dislike bulky armor and bulky characters in general (no offence meant). That said your charr looks decent.

I was wondering this too, when it first happened (I got the CE).
But the armor skin you get is the armor skin that has been in gemstore since launch, which you can easily buy if you like it.
Things like this will happen, they want to sell more, make more money and to do so sometimes they need a new promotion for that to happen. The game have already been on sale more than once too.

When I thought they got something completely uniquie and special I was upset, but once I realised it was just a gemstore skin I didn’t really care anymore.

So the answer is as Galtrix said. No. But don’t feel you miss out on something cause you are not really

Honestly been tired of everyone being all about Tybalt.

I love Sieran because she is what I really expected from sylvari. She loved adventure, loved the world, so curious and happy… a bit careless. I felt more pain for her than Tybalt and Forgal, because she unlike those 2 were so young, almost like a child and had this pure innocense and a wonderful desire to see the world.. now she never will :´(

Now if I had not been driven mad by all the Tybalt this and Tybalt that and Tybalt everywhere leaving no love left to any other (notably Sieran) I really liked him too, he was an interesting character I will give people that (even though it was rather ruined for me because no one knows how to shut up about spoilers)

I also loved Dinky, the oldest friend of my charr, he is not the brightest around, surely, but he is a loyal friend and he means well. I actually loved talking to him in the missions he was with me in. Loved his Ink Quest comment :P I am however a suspsion that he is the reason I never see my warband again… placing him in charge might not been the best idea… even if he is a good soldier.

I really liked Tonn too (Asura you meet if choosing the fear of leeting someone innocent die when the pale tree asks your greatest fear)

Then I like both Quinn and Faren, they are ridiculous and you gotta love their silliness.

And hate me if you must, but I like Trahearne and don’t get why people hate him so much, but this was not going to be about him so I will leave it at that.

I like all of the Destiny Edge folk, but mostly Caithe (I am sylvari main afterall).

Now for villains, that you would obviously not be friends with, but kinda like in the way they are written and stuff. (Like the Joker from Batman is pretty insane, everyone loves him, but I am just gonna assume I would kittenting my pants if he were real and lived near me) I quite like Faolain, can’t think of others tbh.

Easy… I hate PvP and nothing is going to change that.
I am completely uncompetetive and I hate people being rude and mean and what not which (sorry to say) happens a lot in PvP in my experience. (I admit to not really knowing much about the current PvP community in GW2, and I admit that the PvE community can be quite toxic too in certain areas and aspects… I tend to avoid those too)
Besides you don’t want me, seeing I have 0 competetiveness (yes I can say that if I want to) in me and I hate the feeling of it and I am (maybe thusly) mostly rubbish at it.

Its the wrong game to complain about too many skimpy armor sets. Most of those sets are not even that skimpy and hardly “battle bikinis” at all.
Then there are lots of non skimpy sets too.
Actually playing a medium armor user which is not human or norn there is exactly 1 set I think goes into that category… 1, maybe stretch it to 2 but thats it.
And I desperately want something better for my sylvari ranger.

And don’t make it sound like all girls are against skimpy armor, Im a girl too and I like it on some of my toons.

I would hate if they completely removed all “skimpiness” tbh infact I would love them to add more options for med armor at least.

More variety for all… more skimpy for males and females, more modest, more stylist more of everything for all. But don’t you dare remove any option completely.

I don’t see the point in that tbh. Even if something looks “ranger” like, it may look awful on other than 1 or 2 races.

I would much rather see more cultural (racial) armor skins… maybe weapon skins too.

The reason no proffesion can use all weapons is to make them feel more different from one another I believe, if all could use all weapons they would feel more same same I think. Just what I think.
Also, remember this firearms we are dealing with in game are not like those we have in real life. They are not better than bows, merely on par with them. Firearms did not replace bows right away even in real life… it too time to make them the more efficient choice.

I think the reason rangers don’t have and might never get pistols and rifles is because it is against their attunement to nature, may not feel right for them. Certainly doesn’t feel right for ranger imo.

I’m sure they can manage it, I mean they got a golem like race (asura) that look more like bunny rabbits wielding weapons twice the size of their body and big Cat like race swimming, I’m more than positive that they can work something out.

Charr and asura are still sorta more humanoid. 1 body, 2 arms, 2 legs. Then cats may actually dive too, tigers do anyway (tigers are among the few felines that actually enjoy water) so it is not all that unrealistic. Asura are really unlike anything in rl… you can say rabbit like or such, but they are not really, but still it is a more or less humanoid form.
Centaurs are more complex… 2 bodies in one (full horse body 0 humanoid torso), 3 limbs 2 arms and 4 legs. The arching of 2 backs combined. It works for running on land, may even work to surface swimming, but underwater? That would be a huge challenge for anyone, even you must see that.
They are at the risk of being very very akward while in underwater combat.
But as I mentioned before I would actually like playing a centaur if they could make it work, just unlikely.

First let me say, that no where is it certain we get an expansion to Elona, not to mention an expansion at all. I would absolutely love an expansion, desire an expansion and really hope they will make one at some point.
So knowing that we cannot know anything about what might happen in the future I will comment on the idea.

So I find centaurs very, very unlikely as playable… fitting all the armor to centaurs as well as the other races. Remember that all races can use the same armor (aside from cultural) and if charr were/is a problem… I don’t even want to think about centaurs.
Underwater combat could become…. very…. akward… with centaurs. Yes I know horses can swim, but I am yet to see a horse dive, so that would be another huge challenge to make just remotely believeable and not turn everyone off centaurs.
I think the idea of making a new race part of any of the orders per default is a terrible idea, any new race should have the same option to choose which order to follow… Whispers, Priory or Vigil.

Now even though I am going to call it very, very, very unlikely to see centaurs as playable, and that Anet should be very careful with it as it would be a huuuuuuge challenge to get right. BUT! Get it right and I would simply love to play a centaur, I would (maybe) make one with that almost marbled grey coat

Were all those actual promises and did they say it would be in 2013?
I am asking because
1. I honestly don’t know.
2. Often a maybe, might, perhaps, at some point, eventually, etc. etc. is counted as a promise, while it clearly is just a hope to accomplish it. Even vague hints can be seen like promises by some. This is not really fair, because those formulations are NOT promises, you can think oh we might get that at some point, sure sounds great, hope it comes soon.
Not saying this is what happening here, as I said I honestly don’t know their exact words and if their formulation made it a clear promise and not just a hopes and dreams and wants, then ofc. it is a shame that they didn’t get it done.

I know however it is rare that they make those absolute promises, because sometimes they don’t get it done like that, and if they are absolute promises people kinda have a right to complain at least a little.

It is easy enough to get a toon to lvl 80 and perhaps not top geared but decently so.
Almost all achievements are account based and not character based. Some even require you to have more than one toon.

I don’t play the game all the time, actually my time in game is rather low atm, and I still find it fairly alt friendly.

Sorry, but seems rather silly to me… and how is it not altfriendly? I have 1 main and 4 alts, I have no problems with it.

Open PvP or PvP in the PvE world would be absolutely awful
Wont get more factions than already is, since we are all meant to be good and we fight the big baddies of the world.

The only thing I can be a little sympathetic about is the bit with the translations to Portuguese, but I think it is not large enough fraction of the playerbase, to be worth it for Anet. Not against more language settings in the game, just very unlikely to happen.

Now I can sort of, kinda, see where you are coming from.
Being different is great and Anet wanted GW2 to be different alright.
BUT. Being different just for the sake of different in every aspect is not as great, there has to be some reasoning to the difference.

All the things in which GW2/Anet is trying to be a little different makes more or less sense, it is to cater to more people, make it more accessable, make it less dull, more free etc. etc. (If they succeed or not is a matter of individual opinion and not to argue here)

Making 1 more armor class just… doesn’t make sense. What professions would use a new armor class that could not just use one of the 3 we have? Why not have more professions for each armor class (thinking one more heavy, though our professions already fill the spectre pretty well)
