Could a human and a norn procreate?

Nothing specificly says if they can or cannot. I personally like to think that they can… because then I have the perfect way of linking my GW1 elementalist with my GW2 now norn elementalist.
I do guess it is possible that they cannot. But for the sake of my own personal story I want to think they can xD

Corporal Bane Returns...?

Bane would be even more future than GW2. The style and whatnot does not fit in here. Never mind that it was an aprils fool joke and not really cannon.
I certainly hope they leave that joke back in GW1, do not want to see him again. I play a fantasy game, not a modern warfare game or FPS.

Personal opinions aside, as I said… Bane is not cannon to lore. He was nothing but an aprilfools joke.

Fractals: difficult for me to get a decent group

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Zeefa.3915

Well last night I made a group with a guildie. We sort of quickly found us a full team. 1 of them were only lvl 60something. We had fun, we chatted a bit underways and speculated on the locations and did pretty well in the first 2 fractals.
Unfortunately one of us DC’ed and those of use left to work on the 3rd fractal we had gotten into just ended up unable to complete it and give up.
But we had fun for as long as it lasted, was a good experience.

Had anyone decided to do like you and take off the armor… I would have questioned it too… that aint a good move. I know armor repair costs sucks, but I know from experience, that dungeon going is usually unsuccessful if you strip down. The only time it is ok to be naked in a dungeon is if all pieces are broken. This should not happen in other dungeons as you should go for repairs before then. In Fractals as you cannot get back to the lab untill completion of 3 fractals (right?) ending up naked is what happens.

Anyways, you will encounter more elitists and people that wont take you in the group. It is unfortunate, but things like this happened in GW1 too and from what I hear it also happens in all other MMO’s so nothing much to do about that, other than avoiding it when you can. It is about finding those people that are cool with your way of playing and possibly play similar ways. Just… repair that danm armor. You are not even at the level yet where it gets really expensive.

Isn't this patch just.. really wrong?

in The Lost Shores

Zeefa.3915

I think this is just fine. More dungeons are good. Mind you this dungeon is unique as it does not act the same as other dungeons before it. We also got a new zone, new ranger pet, new jumping puzzle, new pvp map and more. So the content in itself is good. Very much what I’d expect from something like this.

Maybe the one time event thing could have been handled better… too many bugs that kinda ruined it and ending in what was for many a tiresome lagfest that lasted too long and which turned pointless when loads of people were not able to get to the very end or got there but not got reward due to server issues or whatever.

So for me… the content was fine, I like it, and I will be visiting Southsun cove and do Fractals dungeon more after this. One time event, if done in the future needs to be done differently.

Opinion: I think automatically upgrading Legendaries is unfair

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Legendaries take such a ridiculously insane investment that it would be unfair to NOT auto-upgrade them.

And no I don’t have any legendaries myself.

I’m with you, and also don’t have a legendary. That amount of time/money investment into the game/gem store would be unfair if it stayed put stat’s wise.

this^^

Agreeing with this too (also no legendary here)
Legendaries was also set up to be the best ever, it is supposed to show extrodinarily much work and investment into the game. If they suddenly were not the best, that would be void.

Why are dragons evil?

in Lore

Posted by: Zeefa.3915

Zeefa.3915

As Alexander said… the dragons are not evil as such. But you cannot reason with them anymore than you can reason with an eathquake or a tidal wave etc.
Cats are not evil either… but if you are a mouse in a mouse nest you are not gonna try to reason with a cat.
Only the races we play as in Tyria are sentient and they, unlike the mouse have the ability to bite back, defend themselves against the greater forces.

Southsun Cove: Where did it come from?

in Lore

Posted by: Zeefa.3915

Zeefa.3915

It is a she sylvari. Eh think she is somewhere to the south on the isle.

Where did it come from… well so much else changed when dragons rose so that it was not in GW1 doesn’t matter that much I think.
It was not there before when GW2 started.

Mayyybe… it has been a floating isle untill it hit the bay. This questions when the sylvari ended up there and how though…. she could be from the/a different Pale Tree maybe.

Would have suggested that it could have just sudenly risen from the depths in some way (maybe not quite the Orr way, there would have been a new wave though smaller) but it is unlikely considering the sylvari that is there.

Uhm… maybe… it was there all along and rose with Orr, just no one knew it was there. I mean if we consider the known map is what is known by the races. It is very plausible there are things missing, things wrong etc.. Would be odd though as there have been sailing within the bay assumedly, and it is not all that far from other landmasses so it would be hard to miss.

Just throwing out ideas :P
I like the floating isle idea best I think

What's your favorite "rogue" faction?

in Lore

Posted by: Zeefa.3915

Zeefa.3915

I think the rogue faction for humans is seperatists more than bandits. Just my thought anyway. Bandits are… rogue too, but not against the human stand points in the same way. The seperatists however for one is mostly against the queen, thus anti royalists? Also they are very specificly against the human – charr treaty.
Seperatists are like the Flame Legion of the humans.
I can be wrong… just my thought on it.

I dislike Flame Legion and Sons of Svanir… they are chauvinists so boo.

Anywho… don’t think I have a favorite rogue faction, they are all quite interesting. But the interesting thing… Flame Legion does not seem to particularly care about the dragons. Nightmare Court are in a way against the dragons too (I think, or they just don’t care that much). Seperatists (I do think they are the human rogue faction) are much more interested in preventing a human – charr alliance. The Inquest try to take advantage of the dragon power, but I believe we were told that they are essentially against the dragons. That leaves the Sons of Svanir… as the only rogue faction that actually embrace the dragons (or well… one of the dragons) without being corrupted first.

Sorry for longish post.

WvW does not count as PvP?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Zeefa.3915

Zeefa.3915

WvWvW is a gray zone, as far as I understood.
WvWvW lets you gain XP like PvE.
You can gather materials in WvWvW like in PvE.
The heartquests, pois, wp, vistas etc. in WvWvW counts for World completion. Mist/SPvP does not.
The skills that are unavaiable in SPvP are avaiable in WvWvW like in PvE.
WvWvW was early on stated to not be completely balanced the way SPvP is, it is meant to be…. chaotic.

Yes you play against other players, but all in all… WvWvW is a gray zone.

I can’t believe people are talking about LORE in an PvP forum in what is obviously supposed to be a PVP game.

The PvP is bad, period. For many reasons including lack of PvP modes, yes this includes GvG – the heart of this game.

You Loreboys can go back to the PvE forums thx.

Guild Wars is not a PvP game… it has PvP, but it also has large amounts of PvE. Even GW1 had that. Sorry to say but GW as a whole got lore and lots of it and you know… a lot of people love that. A lot of people never touch the PvP because it is not their thing. GW1 was perhaps at its birth meant as a PvP game… but it just aint like that anymore and have not been like that for a very very very long time.

RPG is not about the roles of tank – healer etc. either. An RPG is where you play a different role… you develop a story for the character, you give him her personality etc. Part of this ofc. given to you in these game cases. But adjusting to the trinity is not roleplaying.

However I am not saying PvP should not get some attention. It should. More modes should be added and what not. I am sure it will happen eventually. Then people need to find new things to complain about, but then people always find something to complain about so wont run of that… ever.

This is not a PvP forum either… this is for general GW2 discussions. I am sure there is a PvP part too, although I never check that.

Final Solace [SouL] for Casual players

in Guilds

Posted by: Zeefa.3915

Zeefa.3915

Final Solace got founded because we were a group of people feeling left out and excluded from the guild we were first in.
Had to ask several times for others to not spoil the later story.

So our philosophies are pretty much:
Real Life always comes first: we are casual and being inactive for periods of time is okay.
Speed and effectiveness are not important factors: it is not that we shun speedruns or being effective (that would be silly) but a “my way, my time” thing.
Spoiler free enviroment: it is ok to talk about gameplay and what not, but if you wanna talk about story, make sure everyone has done it, or is fine with the possible spoiler.

So basicly… are you tired of guilds with a ton of rules and requirements. Tired of not being able to get teams for certain things because you were not pro in a few weeks. Want to laugh at failures instead of experience rage each time. Want to enjoy the moment when something succeeds. Do you care about the story and the lore. Do you really just want a good small social group that share times of fun gameplay and chats instead of a big machine of a guild. We might be for you.

It is important that you know we are small… we will stay small (although not as small as right now ofc.)
We are not going pro at anything (want a bigger pvp/wvw guild on the side is ok, though we would like to see you too)

And ofc.
We are european/international guild that speaks english and we live on Gandara.

Zeefa.3915

Sorry, I can understand the frustration of not being able to find the right name. But this idea wont do for a game like this. Many people love this game because it allows you to take long absences and then come back. GW1 had some players returning after years of inactivity. Some would have completed everything and then only come back when new things was added, then leave again once it had been seen and done.

You might have a hard time finding single names… try using surnames and/or titles. I have been in other online communities where all names had to be unique… I have never once resorted to silly names, I just had to crack my head a bit more to find a name.

Hmm this makes me think… sometime… when it becomes time for GW1 servers to shut down (hopefully in a long time from now still) Anet should make a little video to mark that too… ofc. not a complete the end of the world thing (the world is still there in GW2 afterall). But something cool to say this ends here. Still long long time from now is what that should be.

And yeah I was expecting a bit more from Zhaitan too… was not completely disapointed and it was not a complete failure. But it was missing something and just not the epic fight I had expected (and feared)

Sylvari: Warm-"blooded" or cold?

in Lore

Zeefa.3915

@Ramei
You’re incorrect about what cannabalism is.

Also, Sylvari are not sentient, they merely imitate sentience. In actuallity, they are about as self aware as a pine cone. For crying out loud, they fell off a tree! How gullible do you have to be to believe they are sentient?

I don’t know… something about them talking, thinking independant thoughts, wondering about things, like why they are here, their clear curiosity and ability to learn… not only from own experiences but from the experiences of others (not just other sylvari). They seem to be pretty self aware. And they clearly got empathy too.
If sylvari are not sentient, then neither is charr, norn, asura or humans…. nor are you and I.

From what you say I think I will go take up a conversation with a pine cone.

Personally I made up stories for how each of my old characters die as to link them to the new.
Thus the somewhat unoriginal idea that my ranger dies at the pale tree (I swear that place was growded with retired human heroes once).
My assassin actually died somewhere in the charr lands, while attempting to bring the young charr home, that she had found caged as a cub in Kaineng and pretty much raised as best she could. (that young charr being the grand grand sire of my beautyful little thief).
My necromancer accepting work for an asura family helping raise the child, specificly teaching the progeny necromancy.
My elementalist living a full life among the norn… cough.
My mesmer living in Lions Arch raised to nobility. But a curse is cast that she cannot give birth and thus she must adopt to get an heir. Somehow the curse extends to whoever the adopted heir is.
My ritualist taking in the philosophies of the tengu and siding with them in battle, killed by her own people.
I will think up the last as we get more races (hopefully) to play with and thus specificly link those.

I guess theoreticly my mesmer could have become a risen, but yet I don’t really think so.

Tier 1 light armor glow?

in Sylvari

Unfortunately I do not have an answer. Can only say that if it does not glow… at least with light armor you can still show some body glow. I am quite sad that as a ranger using medium armor, getting an armorset that lets me show some of that bodyglow is looking rather impossible.

I suppose that if I had to make a criticism of Anet, then I’d like some male armor options that showed a bit more skin. (I’d love to be able to show off more of my male toons’ glow effects.) And some female armor skins that showed off a little less skin. But, all in all, I think they did a great, amazing job with the sylvari..

Have to say that I don’t find much revealing armor for medium class female tbh. The cultural armor for sylvari all tiers medium does not allow for showing the the majority of the glow on the body. Actually… even with the most revealing of the 3 only the belly is revealed… no glow on the belly. Honestly… male or female… medium armor seems to be synonym for coats that cover you up. Which can be nice… if it is not the only option.

Other than that I agree to your post

Complaints about my Favorite Race

Mystic Starfish said it. I say it again. Do not say us when this is your opinion which clearly not everyone shares.
I love the customisation options, I love the colors, I love how different each character can feel and look. The alienlike quality of the sylvari is what makes them mystirious and interesting. The branches and the spikes are actually my favorite “hair” styles (not a fan of the mushroom, but it is there and it is cool for others).
Sure they are more or less modelled after the human form by the pale tree, but they are not humans, they are not elves…. they are sylvari they are plants. Not trees, plants, and they come in as many wonderful variations as plants do.
I think the NPC sylvari looks just fine, some even look great. Sure the colors they choose are not what would be fashionable in a human world… but hey… they aint human.
I have seen sylvari that looked great in other than cultural or ta armor. Although for my own sylvari (which is blue with branchy “hair”) I do prefer to stick with the cultural and thus I too would like more sylvari themed armor.
But yeah stop saying us and pretend that sylvari is a huge disapointment for anyone but yourself.
Yes I know others are disapointed too, some actually want the sylvari even more alien/less human, but guess what… a lot of us love the sylvari the way they are, and you just cannot satisfy everyone.
Asking for less varied options and more looking alike? Really?

Are the charr the evil one?

in Charr

Zeefa.3915

There is no evil, there is no good. There is just survival. From each point of view there is a rightousness, a need to defend what they know or a need to regain what was lost… or just plain survival. Supposedly our fight against the dragons are not so much a fight against evil, but a fight for something as simple as survival, seeing how the dragons are all consuming.

We are a group of ants fighting back the anteaters

So yeah, you are a hero, you must believe what you do is the right thing, from the point of view the game gives you…. you are good. Regardless of which race you choose to be. Each race also got a faction that is “evil”.
Charr got the flame legion, still believing in the old ways, still searching for a god for the charr and hating humans more than anything else. Humans got the seperatists, refusing to believe in peace with the charr and as much stuck in the old ways, the old thoughts as the Flame legion is. Are those factions completely evil? Maybe they just cannot adapt to change that well. And old wounds can be hard to mend.

Why do these vegetables ....

in Sylvari

Zeefa.3915

Well then lets get shortly into the “entire” sylvari background. Ronan (a human) found a seed. He took it home, found that everyone was dead (his fellow humans) and on their grave he planted the seed. This seed would under the watchful eyes of Ventari (the centaur) grow into the Pale Tree… rooting in the burial grounds of humans. Now Ventari (still the centaur) affected the Pale Tree with his morals and philosophical views (gets written on that tablet).

So… Yes they are plants… fruits of a tree you could say. But they are rooted in humans.

This is mostly physical though, as sylvari does not quite have the same concepts of gender differences as do we.

I do hope this helped a bit xD

I do want more sylvari armors though… since sylvari just looks best in planty armor and I like to collect and change looks from time to time. Add new tier to cultural armor with an expansion? Would have to do the same for the other races though I guess… and if they add more races that would become quite a few new sets to design. Anyways, just a thought.

Was going to be with Alverad on this at first. But thinking about it a bit more, I believe I can see some reasoning here. I don’t think there is any reason for the “xx is online” before they are actually completely in game on a character. Also I can agree to invisible/offline mode actually make you not visible to others. Reasons for ever wanting this can vary, and I think it will happen for a lot of people, that they just wanna play alone for a bit.
As for representing or not representing guilds… personally I would just not join a guild that was not flexible enough to allow multiguilding if I wanted multiguilding. But we are all different.

But yes… offline should actually hide all activities, hide where you are etc. And no point in shouting to all friends that you are online untill your character is in. (I actually tried to talk to people the moment I saw the message not realising or later forgetting that they would not see what I was saying yet.)

Why all the plant names

Zeefa.3915

The same reason cultures with a deep rooted connection to Christianity name their children Christian names- like… well, Christian, Joshua, David, Mary, Joseph, Esther, etc.

The Sylvari have an intense connection to nature and, well, plants. Their entire culture is built around it, so, yes, you’re going to run into a lot of plant/nature-focused names. Seems pretty obvious, to me.

But the Sylvari don’t have parents that would “impose” names upon them.

Ermmm, in a way they….do. Us, the players. I have yet to meet a character that chose his/her own name O.O

But we don’t exist in Tyria Players who don’t treat their character like, well, characters notwithstanding.

How about this: the sylvari just know their name when they emerge from their pods, they don’t really know how they know, but they do. So they do not seem to just choose their name, but that something (the pale tree? the dream?) impose it on them. I find some plant names to be quite fitting actually and I would likely use one (if there was a good one left) could I not find a gaelic/celtic one that was good.

Also all names essentially mean something, just for most names the majority of people no longer know the meaning off them. Further distanced to us since some names are variations of older names that means something.

Sounds strange, hope it gets fixed. Feel lucky that I did not have this issue now. Don’t know if related, but prior to getting that last area completion it would show the different world % on character screen. It often showed 0 even after I was well up in the 90s. Also showed 100% before I actually had hit that (I was at 9% when I spotted that).

Unsure if it goes here, but when I preview dungeon armors in Lions Arch on my sylvari ranger, they all show the exact same skin and not the actual armor skins. The skin shown is that piraty looking one with the feather on the hat.
Now I am nowhere near getting enough tokens for any of the armorsets, but I would be slightly worried should this not change if I went to purchase the set. I would post a screenshot with this, but cannot get in game atm. Can do later if this is the correct place for this.
