• you got there 10 minutes early and did not act to acquire a waypoint where the boss could spawn.
This could have been avoided if you took the time to accordingly acquire the waypoint since you got there 10 minutes early and as stated, were waiting around for 8 minutes.
• you didn’t have the waypoint on that character.
This could have been avoided if you had the waypoint on another character, or simply have acquired all the waypoints on the map for when the boss even does eventually start.
• the boss “literally” died 30 seconds later after you get to it.
This could have been avoided if you were on a character that has relatively good mobility such as the following:
- near perma swiftness Engineer (traited)
- Thief equipped with teleports/shortbow
- sword/WH + GS Warrior
- Ranger with RaO elite skill + GS
These classes are generally fast, mobile and can get to places with ease.
• you never know when or where the boss will spawn.
This can be improved via situational awareness such as:
- being in the middle of the map/where a large portion of players are
- watching the minimap for the big, red icon that indicates the boss’ position on the map
- having all the waypoints unlocked so that you can use them if the boss spawns too far away from your position
• you can’t think of another boss event where the boss dies this quickly.
Fire Elemental (after pre event is over). doubt KQ dies in literally 30 seconds.
This thread makes me not want to talk about any new movies in map chat now because I might get reported and banned.
Thanks, Gaile.
You’re being deliberately obtuse. This isn’t about casual conversation where someone accidentally lets slip a spoiler for someone else. This is a clear case of griefing that has no point and the player engaging in this should at least get a temporary (1 week or so) suspension.
That someone who accidentally let slip a movie spoiler might offend someone who then reports them, be it that the person reporting interprets the so called spoiler in a way which is offensive/spamming aka a reportable offense as indicated by Gaile’s post.
May as well not talk about any upcoming/new movies we like in map chat else it might be a spoiler to someone and could get us reported and banned.
Is it weird I’m hearing David Attenborough’s voice in my head right now narrating this new specie found in WvW as I read over this?
“And here we have the rarely seen, majestic Flying Eagle Raptor in it’s natural habitat…”
This thread makes me not want to talk about any new movies in map chat now because I might get reported and banned.
Thanks, Gaile.
I would rather shell out $145 AUD on a full armor skin set than gamble that money to have a totally RNG CHANCE at a single PIECE of the set.
Yes, 8k gems costs that much for Aussies.
Yes, I would pay 8k gems for a single FULL ARMOR SKIN SET because this game has unwaveringly shoved Outfits into our faces for so long I’m really missing the good old armor skins… Oh new stuff to mix and match, will we ever meet?
As much as I enjoy outfits, I’m willing to pay money for armor skins or, even better, have them as rewards in-game via quests/heroic deeds.
RNG gambling armor skins is not the way to go. It is not healthy for the game, nor the people playing it.
Dear ANet,
Just curious, and appreciated greatly from last year’s Double XP event that took place sometime in January – will there be another Double XP event anytime early next year?
Thanks in advance.
It’s not hard nor difficult. I believe the word(s) you are looking for is either timely in realistically; a very short time span so impossible or costly if one chooses to buy their way through the achievement.
Hopefully there is a “consume all” option for stacks.
Stuff like this already existed in GW1; I am glad to see it make a comeback in GW2.
Even Thirst Slayer achievement exists here.
As much as I like the title and am working on completing the achievement… I still think a different title would best suite it from GW1..
• Incorrigable Alehound
• Drunkard
Coz you know… 10k drinks speaks for itself.
So, how am I supposed to do the hero points?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Zephyra.4709
I do all the easy hero points in VB and AB. There is one easy glide one in TD. Then with moe than half of my elite spec done I go into WvW and just collect the Proofs for ez random hP unlocks.
Some HPs can be solo’d on different classes.
I would take a thief any day over ranger.
Yepp.
I don’t know why but 80% of the rangers I got on MY team are unwaveringly bad. I’m talking zero support pew pewing on ledges and die in seconds feeding the enemy ez kills. Double rangers. It’s just. Unbearable. (No pun intended).
But yeah, match making is trash. Being pit up against full guild teams and you look on your side with… 2 rangers and a warrior and it’s literally sigh from there on.
I’ve learned though. Premade or say bye bye to your hard earned pips, son.
I’ve met fun people though, in ranked; start a premade. Get a team going. It helps.
I recommend EOTM, even after the “nerf” you should be able to grab decent levels with a good train going with the following items:
• Any type of food (10% XP)
• Any type of Utility food (10% XP)
• Guild potion boosts (mine is a +9% _ boost)
• Guild banners/Hero banner (if people drop them)
• search “firework” on the TP and buy those for a max stack of 2hr +10% XP boost
• Boosters in general (even birthday booster etc)
• +50% XP Bonfire
• Laurel boosters (costs laurels, I do not recommend this but it is an alternative if you really must…)
So yeah, just make sure you go all out when you got a good train happening. That or HoT Maguuma Hero Points award a sick chunk of XP. If you are in a guild you can instantly teleport to example: Gilded Hollow = Auric Basin which you can back track into Verdant Brink for ez hero points.
Hope this helps!
Nope! Not mad at all.
Challenge accepted!
So far whilst happily doing all the achievements I’ve racked up almost 600 drinks out of the 10k. It is a daunting number and realistically by means of playing without intention of racking up gifts for the drinks inside – I can see that it simply won’t happen in such a short span.
You would have to no life winters day activities like a mad man to get THAT many drinks, for free.
Looks like the rest will have to be bought. Hope the prices decrease with influx of required items.
This is a delicate subject, indeed.
While I too, have empathy towards those that literally can not do this collection due to physical impairment(s) etc, I can not see any constructive alternative suggestions by OP in regards to obtaining specific items.
• instead of completing Bell Choir, another alternative could be to defeat X amount of creatures OR complete X treasure hunt to create the item required in the Mystic Forge
That is one suggestion I can think of, yet it trails back to what I originally wanted to mention in regards to rewards being locked behind certain things.
We have mystic forge recipes, treasure hunts, slay X of this or craft X of that… Now all of a sudden we are delivered with a Jumping Puzzle to complete and I think this may be the devs wanting to try out something different other than the usual requirements for things.
Change is a good thing from the same old typical routine.
It is unfortunate that yes, it may well and truly be impossible for those with certain disabilities to complete such a task but I agree in sense – The collection requirements could have been more alternative friendly.
I am open minded about this topic in general but I also agree with what others are stating in this thread in regards to rewards. Some things just aren’t supposed to be handed out to everyone.
Luckily, this specific collection item is obtainable outside of the seemingly impossible. It is buyable off the Trading Post.
A hefty cost but it is there as an alternative option if you seriously want that item.
The month is supposed to be full of joy & good times, it is unfortunate that these issues have impacted that in a negative way.
I like this JP.
The easiest path for me, personally, is the right-most lane; furthest out as it is pretty straight forward.
When I first attempted this JP, like any other seemingly difficult one I looked up straight away on YT on how to complete it. There are many ways. But that one was easiest.
I recommend putting settings to lowest if your PC is having problems, and play a relatively small character. (I was on max size Norn and boy did I make so many mistakes haha).
I agree over time, with effort, your body grows accustomed to where the jump pads are and eventually it will be embedded in memory so you know exactly what is next and where to go; my only gripe is the middle part of the JP where all the presents pop and can really ruin your day if another player jumps ahead and causes presents to pop.
Also the annoying “RNG” invisible snowballs; I’ve been knocked off/around by nothing. It’s weird.
I hope this helps those who are still struggling. Maybe I can post a video showing the easiest way I find.
This is this almost game breaking & defeats the purpose of “do not give away our location”. Why?
- If you are on any server and happen to be on the same map (WvW OR EOTM) you WILL show up as a yellow dot on the minimap (even to the extent that you will show up as a semi-transparent yellow dot for those on a different instance of EOTM with something similar to “This player is in a different instance of this map.”)
- This yellow dot can be seen by anyone/everyone in the guild who is in the same instance/map likewise for those in a different instance of the map
- This is wrong and should not be happening as it is a dead give-away to where the enemy position is (typically EOTM as everyone follows ‘the’ tag) thus I consider map manipulation for those handing out enemy position/movements via knowing where this ‘tracking dot’ is at all times
- Please deactivate the yellow dot in WvW/EOTM
They are beautiful skins, save for the tone/texture of the ‘golden’ color used. It looks cheap & kinda’ plastic. Would’ve been MUCH MUCH MUCH better with a grainy texture or even a repeat of what Dwayna weapon skins gold settings are.
I already have Thirst Slayer, of which I strongly believe there should be a title for that, considering this new kid on the block.. eggnog and what not required is getting a title.
Either way… THERE ARE NO BREAKS ON THE CHUG CHUG CHUG TRAIN.
Reward Structure:
• WvW “reward track”
- can be increased via earning WvW XP, completing events in WvW or even daily capture/defend events can count toward progression
Rewards in general:
• I would love to see different armor skins in regards to reached tiers unlocked throughout Bronze all the way up to Diamond rank. (Same with weapon skins)
• Different Siege skins to choose from (similar to Mail Carrier system)
• Flame Ram Tonic (no joke.. Legit ok)
• Legendary WvW back piece
• Miniatures/skins related to WvW that can be purchased with an EXISTING CURRENCY… I’m looking at you, 18k+ Badges of Honor….
I remember posting something similar in a thread ages ago. Really, it would be fantastic to have rewards + a balanced reward system for WvW. Something we can work on either mid term or long term (legendary backpieceeee)
We can cease the majestic QQ train – for the 64bit client is updating just fine now.
Thanks ANet for the fix.
Keep up the great work.
This is such a cute item, don’t ask why.
I will use this on my thief once he hits 80. (:
Awesome skin ANet & merry (early) Christmas!
Proof of Heroic solution that ANet should change for the greater good of the game let alone WvW content:
• Proofs of Heroics should be account bound
This hurts no one.
You could play your “main” and collect Proofs to save for alts, EXACTLY AS ONE CAN DO WITH TOMBS OF KNOWLEDGE – which arguably serves a similar purpose. To level with tombs; to gain hero points with Proofs. It’s basically levelling, proceeding, unlocking, advancing. Whatever you want to call it.
This change alone would eliminate a lot of fuss and iritation that’s probing at the WvW players, I know I would be immensely relieved and grateful if such a change were to be made.
I just can’t see condi herald being a thing due to the main prominence of Conusion + Torment which are situational conditions.
Boss stuck in place and not moving around? There goes Torment potential.
Slow boss attacks or gets blocked, you evade etc? There goes Confusion potential.
Not saying it’s full on moot but agreed with others – would be nice & interesting to see the outcome of your research. Good luck with it.
I’ve seen about 3-4 sapphires last night. Sprinkled emeralds and a tonne of ambers.
Sadly, I keep losing games either being faced up against premades or people on my side afk or seemingly play to lose on purpose.
Lost 2 pips because I had 2 people on my side that were afk and the other didn’t budge from home.
It’s really frustrating.
I don’t see myself ever getting 5 wins let alone reaching sapphire.
inb4 cultural outfits -_-
NEW IN THE GEM STORE! Get yours today for ONLY 9000 gems!
You practically will never make progress unless you have a team/friends to queue with due to everyone and their mum’s brown dog queuing as premades or even duo queues bashing/farming/utterly obliterating PUGs/soloers.
This wouldn’t be a problem if Solo Queue was a real thing but nope. “Esports”.
“Welcome to Division II – your home for life. Enjoy your salty stay.”
I literally cannot see progression when the matchups are so unbearably messed up. You basically need a team of mega ultra pro’s to even have a chance at winning (cough premade cough) and even then… Knowing this new system it’d probably REMOVE 1-2 pips due to WHATEVER nonsenic reason even if you WON the match.
I got my baby KFC Golden Chicken Wing back piece last night, well, the very start of the process simply by grinding out ranked games until I reached Div II. That alone rewards you with enough tickets to purchase the first tier of it.
I guess the rest of the process is either time gated or locked behind a plethora of PvP achievements.
Whether you’re joking or not – I personally think if they are to implement said WvW rank related icons then they should be a hover-over feature such as the World Completion Badge is.
Why?
I do not like clutter.
The PvP icons are already awkward enough in PvE; I wish I could turn mine off on toons I don’t use in PvP at all.
The only thing I would find reasonable about having publicly displayable WvW rank icons/badges would be so that other players know you might have all unlocks and request you to jump on the Flame Rams, for example, instead of someone without the mastery aka: very low ranked players thus optimizing and making best use of the situation at hand.
These are, for the most part – solid, smooth & pretty realistic looking weapons. The ones I definitely like are the axe, focus & mace. This is coming from a person who rarely uses those kinds of weapons.
But yes, agreed with others… my only gripe is the full on awkwardness on the placement of blades. Who places a blade near the trigger of your pistol/rifle like that? Ouch. That and the thinness of the shield is a bit disappointing. I love shields. Maybe I’ve only viewed it on my Charr so far but anyway, decent skins for once! The textures are awesome; especially on the whip focus.
Nice job, devs!
Alright. Brace yourselves.
I remember dropping 20-ish Boxes of Fun in the main hub area of DR and then a tonne of them in The Grove when the Aviator April Fool’s Day event were released for the first time. Oh the horrors. People couldn’t access the bank, apparently.
I remember unwaveringly spamming over 5 stacks of Packaged Snowballs whilst on a SW chest train trip and whoever wanted to open the chest picked up a snowball instead.
I remember mass spamming Endless Belcher’s Bluff tables all over main cities & in absurd places in WvW. You can make fun words out of those…
I remember dropping 5 Trading Posts and 5 Merchants in the lava at the Mega Destroyer World Boss event. Many didn’t make it out alive that day, sadly.
I remember relentlessly dropping cheap, nasty ghetto food everywhere all over the place and even on top of other legit proper food in the Zerg I were running with in WvW. Apparently people don’t like Strawberry Pies.
I still have around 50 Boxes of Fun left in the bank I think, although I’m a good child now and I’ve geared away from my salty shenanigans.
I know the troubles of trying to interact with NPCs or simply wishing to interact with the banker, so I too, agree there should be a “no drop zone” on/around x radius of things such as:
- Any NPC/merchant/TP etc
- Chests/minigames/interact able objects
- harvesting nodes
- literally anything that requires “F” or interact key
TLDR: agreed with other player’s stating there should be a certain radius where you cannot place things on top of/directly next to etc.
Thanks for showing a comparison between what the original looks like & your variant. I too, have mine own tastes in that Plasma wep skins look unappealing BUT from what you have supplied in the variant – it is a much better improvement and I am in full agreement it would better suit what is advertised/displayed in the item’s picture.
Clearly there is some sort of vague energy on the plasma bits in the picture, yet in the real item in game… There is none. This alone portrays misleading information/representation and I think ANet should consider this suggestion of yours as a possible solution.
TLDR: great suggestion, makes sense due to misleading representation in the original item’s picture.
Yeah as above post mentioned I have many toons that I primarily just want elite spec u locked but in doing so it also accumulates quite the bit of XP. I got a whole mastery bar from 20% to 100% and on my second mastery XP bar almost 100%… I just need to somehow find ways to acquire the actual mastery points now haha.
FREE REPAIR CANISTER HYYYYYPPP— oh wait, it’s just some boosters and a trading post express. False alarm guys.
All jokes aside, something is better than nothing. Really, they didn’t have to do this but it isn’t uncommon to see freebies around this time in the gem store.
Hi guys,
Extreme total noob ele player here seeking any suggestions/advice on builds/playstyle etc.
This is going to sound quite odd but I’ve had an ele for a long time now, 2 ele’s actually, but I rarely ever play them due to various reasons; I never really took a liking to ele in the first place but also the daunting array of many skills including but not limited to F1-F4 keys plus each attunement spell(s) associated with them…
… SO, after a very long time I’ve finally grown an interest in the class and Tempest in general. I’d really like to get into it more.
My main game modes are & have been WvW (roaming, zerging, dueling) and quite the bit of PvE now that HoT has soared. PvP is alright when I’ve got nothing else to do.
- Is there a build out there for noobs like me at ele?
- Does anyone have vids of basic D/D ele rotation?
- What is a good build to start with on ele for WvW orientated gameplay?
- Can any WvW builds be ‘copy-pasted’ for PvP use? (yes, I enjoy a bit of PvP sometimes)
- Any tips on what gear/stats to use with the current meta going on?
I am literally just looking for any advice you guys have. Sorry for all the noob questions, but thank you in advance.
It’s either one of the following:
a) “Soon.”
b) “New in the Gem Store!”
c) “Unlock W, X & Y Collections gated behind Mastery Over 9000 to unlock Collection Z.”
d) All of the above.
All jokes aside, yeah. I want these Mistward Weapons. I remember seeing the axe looking thing and thinking I need that. That would make me play a class that uses axes. Heck yeah.
I’m throwing money at the screen but nothing is happening.
Seriously though, as mentioned in a thread just previously on the topic of gem store content & hair style related things… I’m dying for new styles, colors but even the greater possibility of ANet stepping up their game a bit and adding more variety of colors to the accessory section to choose from.
The accessory colors we currently have… Blah. If I want a black color the closest there is would be that gross looking dark brown/grey… And even then on most of the newer hairstyles that accessory color shows up different or some yucky variation.
Agreed – makeover kits are all I buy since you can change everything in there.
I know, it’s been said a million times before but I would pay over 9000 gems just for them to bring back Aviator Sunglasses. for reals.
That or I would humbly welcome discounted prices of bag/character slots and/or the return of the bundle that sold Silverwaste shovels, I forget the name of it.. Sadly. That’d be nice.
Kinda off topic but: I would buy more total makeover kits if they added more variety of colors to choose from in the accessory section. Please, ANet.
I bought gems → into gold and bought all the stuff. Made it all in about an hour or less. The only thing I’m gated on though is spirit shards. Literally have little to zero of those. Sigh.
If I can offer any suggestions to null the pain, as I too, have asked the same thing before going out and trying things my own way it’s a combination of:
- going around on alts and communing/focusing on acquiring HPs (this nets you XP + anything you explore along the way = more XP)
- simply do events or anything meta event
- Dragons Stand event
- Spider farm when you are every close around 80% done and just wanna grind it out
Anything else I haven’t found any farms save for some weird LFG stating “vet tengu mastery farm” so I’m assuming someone found something to farm in AB as those were the only tengus I saw in these new maps.
Hope that helps.
Although I don’t really care much about the meta event(s) in VB now that I’ve got all the coat boxes, I can understand and agree with those stating it is more difficult to reach a T4 VB map when you have a select handful of players who are only interested in raiding & do not care for the progress of the map as a whole.
Thus, to fix this problem there should either be implemented;
• LFG tool for raiding
• Instanced VB section/lobby room where the portal is/leads to via in-game UI (similar to entering PvP lobby from the UI, could also be a raid lobby)
• Place a portal elsewhere similar to Fractals of the Mists in LA
However, there may actually be raiders waiting for more of their friends/guildies who could be running nearby doing the map meta event(s) though this so far has proved unlikely due to the numbers of players seemingly afk at the portal entrance.
Agreed.
There needs to be more Tyrian Masteries out there to collect, surely.
Maybe they could add timers on certain jumping puzzles; “beat this JP in X time”.
I’m hoping it includes better fixed for lag in wvw, bugs in general, weird stuff related to HoT adventures where I didn’t get any credit for Sanctum Scramble… Things like tending to PvP related profession skills being too UP cough warri cough and if they’re feeling extra nice I’m dying for raid content and/or new hairstyles/colors if there’s anything being added. Please.
Sign me up, I’ve been needing to kill this thing since launch. Never succeeded.
I’ll send a pm in game when I get home.
I’ve opened thousands. Yes, thousands of these chests with keys and I’ve had my good days and bad days.
I usually do batches of 100 keys. From mine own personal experiences, I do feel that ANet does indeed tweak the drop rates for certain things. tombs of Knowledge used to be about 30-40 out of 100 chests (as an example) yet my most recent batch (quite a while ago due to the crappy rewards within cough minis cough dye kits) did 100 keys and got significantly less (around 8-20 tombs of knowledge).
So yes, as others have stated, you can see things clearer when dealing with bigger numbers.
Out of the thousands of chests I’ve opened over the past year or so the coolest thing would be 2 perm hairstylist contracts & 2 perm merch contracts, among anything else that sold for 100g+ aka the nodes.
I only have 90-ish shards. I craft infusions as I like to max things out. 1 infusion = 50 shards. Or, 100 shards for the versatile infusions.
I always have next to no shards.
Get an asc drop? Bad stats? That’s another 10 to change it. They all add up. I have a friend who has over 4k shards… How I wish they were a tradable currency.
I agree in the sense that they should at least have a BOX of selectable blades equipment to choose from, not just the gloves, and MINUS the coat piece due to it being only and reasonably obtainable in pve.
In other words: some things just aren’t meant to be a acquirable in all 3 game modes (pve, pvp, wvw).
Someone can just as easily state “why can’t they have Balthazar Backpiece rewarded in pve content, I don’t wanna be forced to pvp for it.” And vice versa.
It’s nice having things only obtainable in certain aspects of the game; for me it shows you put time and dedication to get things.
This this this so much.
I would love to have one as a glider skin!
Item in the gem store? People QQ it isnt obtainable via playing the game in some way or it’s locked behind said paywall.
Item added to the game obtainable by reasonable means or as a drop? People now QQ that it’s ‘rare’ and that it’s expensive.
People should be happy this item is obtainable for free, no cost involved – how so? By the creature(s) that drop said item. Treasure mushrooms.
If the drop rate is meant to be low, it’s gonna be low and only some people out there may get the drop thus depicting the costly prices on the TP atm for said item. This is normal.
Eventually, if people stop being lazy & actually go try for once there might be more of these in stock which would inevitably lower the cost. Supply and demand.
Either way, if there is one valid point people have made in this thread that I do agree with – it’s the fact that said item should’ve been made a BASELINE, toggle-able feature since launch. Yeah. Wow. Something so simple that other games already have implemented yet GW2 dropped the ball on. Yikes.
I will be productive and go around hunting treasure mushrooms whilst exploring & playing the content in hopes of getting said item along the way.
Meanwhile in Smokescale land… Aka the thing that relentlessly obliterates you and you can’t even hit it due to blind/evade spam whilst it’s ripping your guts out…
So. Snipers, hmm?
I’ve been running around in FULL ZERKER TWERKER TIME herald mode aka if something scary hits me off guard I probably won’t survive… BUT – I have some advice against Snipers…
- be situationally aware & alert at all times
- they will crouch down and put a “target” over someone’s head. Get out of the firing line when this is happening or strafe away
- if you get too close sometimes they do a knock back. Try to have stab up or get behind them/dodge roll through them and DPS.
- CC them if possible. It will prolong their “one shot kill” move
- make sure you time your evades, blocks, invuls when the “one shot kill” line is on the ground or when they shoot it – it’s pretty obvious
Yes they are powerful but they can be defeated. My only gripe is the Chanpion ones. Now those are definitely one shot killers and must be dealt with immediately.
