Sounds like a personal problem, not a problem with the game’s design. I get that you want more rewards for less effort, but that just isn’t going to happen. You know what you have to do. It’s not hard. Do one zone a day, or even just a few hearts/POIs/waypoints/vistas a day. It takes time, but it cna be done. I’ve done it on two characters so far and almost a third (very casually of course with no real rush or goal in mind).

Hmm, interesting notion. I imagine full exploration of the HoT map will yield a different reward other than gift of exploration. It would be kind of mean for ArenaNet to add the HoT zones to the world completion count.

I’m sorry OP, but you are really narrow-minded if you truly think there are only two kinds of people… just saying. It is not good to classify people in such a manner. There are in this game, at a minimum, several thousand kinds of people.

As for your post’s topic. I’m going to be both. I will make a revenant, and I will use said revenant to explore the jungles (unless I end up not liking the class, which I highly doubt I won’t because hell yeah GW1 references).

As long as they add an opt out feature to block players from inspecting you, I don’t care if they add inspection or not. Alternatively, as long as the inspection is limited to the skins and not the stats. I understand that some people like my armor/weapon/dye schemes. I like to look good

But I’ll be frank, as usual: it is none of your godkitten business what my equipment stats are. If you are curious about my build, ask me and I will tell you all about it, but you get no freebie peeks at my equipment stats.

And this is why the stability buff is going to be served as stacks. Brilliant! I like this move, ArenaNet! My stun lock warrior is definitely looking more fun by the minute!

They might, they might not. I imagine and prefer not, though. All that will do is just make a mad rush to flood the ‘top teir’ servers. The game needs more players spread out across all the servers, not just the ‘top tiers’. I hear that some of the low tier servers have a really small population, so their W3 isn’t as fun for them. General PvE isn’t a problem thanks to the megaserser system, but W3 can seriously suffer because of the population issues.

Yes, it appears that mix and match is a thing of the past. I wouldn’t be surprised if they never made another armor set and just made everything an outfit.

For this I would recommend the return of the elite gladiator armor for male warrior from GW1.

How so?

They will block a fairly large part of your FoV when on another character. In a cramped environment you won’t see your character if a character with wings is nearby. Jumping puzzles will go from hard mode when norn is doing it parallel with you to an elite mode when the said norn has the wings.

Another point I didn’t bring up. Thanks for bringing it up. It’s indeed one more reason why not everyone will have them and why the novelty will die off.

I get that these features were popular in other games, but GW2 isn’t those other games. Can we please stop trying to make GW2 just another clone of those other games? Fishing has it’s benefits. Even if it’s not used as a means of harvesting, it can be an achievement category and provide a soothing past time after a difficult fight. The OP is correct… GW2 has some of the most beautiful scenery and underwater effects of any game. Why not make the waters of Tyria a place for something more than just fighting?

While I can understand the desire for incentive to stay underwater longer, the people who truly appreciate the environments for what they are will just jump into the water and go for a swim and explore, incentives be kitten ed. Please don’t try to lump an additional gathering feature with the desire to explore. The only thing stopping you self-proclaimed explorers/appreciators of the environments from enjoying said environments is you, not a lack of fishing.

IF ArenaNet really wanted/needed to make underwater more appealing, they can do so by improving underwater combat (possibly by adding several utility skills that are only for underwater instead of just taking the normal pool of utility skills, cutting out 60% of them, and make the remaining 40% available for underwater use (I’m using rough estimates here (hell yeah triple parentheses because I can))).

While I’m all for communities, you should all be a little more like me and understand that no matter the medium, people will be people. You will get a mix of both good and bad. The game will not change that. Any game out there right now has its good and bad, and GW2 is no exception. I myself have my good moments and I have my moments where I offend people (both intentionally and unintentionally and will not apologize for either). Take that for what you will, but I’d like to add that correlation does not mean causation. A great game does not make its community of players good or bad. If anything it’s the other way around.

Yeah, I hide the helms on most of my characters because nice hair should not be covered or bunched up under a metal bucket on your head.

I’ll keep it short and sweet: after a few days, maybe even a few weeks, this back piece will blend in. What I mean by that is that people will become ‘desensitized’ to it. The novelty will wear off eventually, then you will only see them on characters with armors that it actually looks good on. They wont look good on every armor set.

So calm down, all you Iagos. You assume everyone is going to really pay attention to you or notice you. I get it, OP wants to be special when he gets them by having the wings hard to get. I’m going to burst your bubble because someone has to: you’re not special. You’re just regular player/customer like everyone else. We are all equal here in that regard The item is going to be popular with a lot of us and it will get ArenaNet some money. That’s all that matters.

So yes, expect everyone and their grandmother to have them (I will as well because hell yeah black feather wings). Once the novelty wears off they’ll be blended in like all the other new items have done so. You don’t see everyone and their mother running around with the holographic wings or tempered blades anymore, just a few here and there.

I saw the title to this thread, then realized you weren’t talking about quaggans, then immediately dismissed this entire thread as pish posh. Quaggans suck. The only thing worse then a quaggan is a kittening dredge.

Hiya Joe, love your show. Here are some questions I hope you would consider asking:

• Are there any plans to add more GW1 weapon and armor skins with the expansion? They added a few since release, and I’m sure many GW1 players (myself included) really appreciate that and would like to see more come our way.

• The metroidvania-esque idea ArenaNet is trying to implement sounds really exciting. It makes me wonder about sequence breaking. Is sequence breaking something that will be possible/encouraged? Or will all forms of sequence breaking be patched once discovered?

• With the Sylvari being confirmed as minions of Mordremoth, how will the expansion’s story resolve the inevitable prejudice against Sylvari (which has already started happening in Lion’s Arch ever since Scarlet blew it up, as evident in some NPC dialog). Can we expect a well written resolution or is that asking too much and will end up with some form of deus ex machina to save the day? This is an opportunity for your writers to really shine if they can write a story that doesn’t have to rely on deus ex machina.

• Also with the Sylvari/Mordremoth connection, should Sylvari players expect some kind of handicap when fighting against Moredremoth and its influence? Or will Sylvari players just naturally be immune to the corruption because, duh, they are the player?

Yeah I’m not going to be mean like that last guy and take a screen in a place that requires the use of a specific class/weapon combination just to reach. Can’t even get the exact same angle and FoV without your character also being a Norn because of the differences in camera positoning with a zoom.

Or you can do what most people do and just save the image to their computer, open it up in photoshop, and have at it and make it into a nice fancy wallpaper. Pretty sure it’s not illegal as long as you don’t pawn if off as your own work and sell it for actual money.

I imagine they have already considered this and will move conditions around for the mesmer, probably. They might also just plain not give the mesmer taunt because of this. Not every class can truly use all conditions. Warriors and guardians, for example, can’t even use poison without playing as an asura or using specific sigils. There is nothing that says a mesmer must have taunt. I’m sure ArenaNet’s intentions with taunt is more for drawing agro away from the squishies rather than towards.

Now, if you have a mesmer on your team and you work together while you taunt and the mesmer does the torment/confusion stacks, that’s just good team work.

I would also like to add that it is looking like mesmer spec will get shield with the specialization, and one of their skills looks like it has something to do with time because of the clock face animation. What I’m saying is that mesmer will likely get to use slow rather than taunt.

Just because it’s already in the game does not mean it’s available for player use.

Hey OP, you can avoid all of the Claw’s fears with proper use of skill 5 on the rocket launcher you get in that event. THen you can simply dodge the spike waves and falling ice pillars. 0 stability needed for Claw of Jormag, but it does help in case you miss a dodge.

I’m skeptical that SteamOS, or Linux in general, would be a highly profitable market to port GW2 to. Linux has a whole only has about a 1.34% market share, and I’d say (completely anecdotally) that a not-insignificant amount of those users run some form of Windows on the side, especially if they’re gamers. SteamOS will definitely encourages some growth of Linux-based gaming, but “only able to download beta from some secret website” isn’t exactly a firm foundation at the moment.

No offense meant when I say this, but it is just that often times I see many people use convoluted or uncommon terminology and a lot of extra words to say something that can be said with fewer words, yet still getting the point across. They seem to do this all to try to give off a superiority complex with colorful vocabulary. (See what I did there?) You may or may not be one of those people, and I am guilty of it as well sometimes.

There’s nothing wrong with being versed with vocabulary, but it might be beneficial to keep your target audience in mind. This is a video game forum on the internet, not 4th year college level politics, economics, and debate class. (read: politicians using ‘big words’ so that the common folk/the majority of their constituents will have no idea what they are talking about and wont want to question what they say.). “Those are some big, fancy words I’ve never heard before. He must know what he’s talking about.” I think there’s an official term for this form of word play, but I don’t know for sure. It’s the same thing for the thousand-page bills proposed as new laws in congress. They purposely build those things so large that no one will actually want to take the time to read it all the way through and will want to just vote on it to get it out of their way, all while subtly including funding for their pet projects.

It is deliberate “too long; didn’t read”, in layman’s terms. Wait, I mean it is tl;dr done on purpose.

If you want to give emphasis, might I suggest using ALL CAPITAL LETTERS, bold, italicized, or underlined font? I can understand if you get some enjoyment out of telling words what to do, however. I am a huge proponent of not giving words power over me. I have power over them, though.

Oh look, yet another video montage of someone just playing the game. This is not ‘skill’ on the OP’s part, it’s just a group of players focus firing on the same target. Anyone can call a target, the rest can just press T and keep spamming 1. That’s all there is to it. 1 man armies do not work in this game mode. Stay with your team, press T, spam 1. Rinse. Repeat.

OP, as a former newbie to this game I get where you’re coming from. Allow me to empower you in the way only I can.

I have never had issues getting in dungeon groups. Do you know why? No, it’s not because I have several level 80s, or that I’m actually skilled, or that I play the game well, or that I have a lot of AP, or even that I have full ascended equipment. The reason is because I don’t play with these so called ‘pros’. They are nothing compared to me. They don’t deserve a spot in my parties. It does not matter if they have more AP than I do (they likely don’t) or have been playing this game longer than I (they haven’t) or play better than I do (ha ha, not a chance!), at the end of the day I’m the best there is because Zera.

Your AP count does not matter. You have a character. Can you play said character? Are you able to attack what I’m attacking and help me kill it? Do you know how to press 6 (or whatever hotkey it’s assigned) to heal yourself as needed? Can you press ‘F’ next to a downed teammate to help them get back up? Can you press a button to dodge? If you answered yes to any of these questions you are already ahead. Like all things, dungeons get easier with practice. The first few times I played dungeons in this game, I died a lot. But as I kept trying and paid attention to what I did and what was going on, I got better. Now I can play dungeons without a problem. I’m so good that I don’t have to rely on a ‘meta’ (whatever the kitten that is). Those meta players are so lost without a script. Give them anything other than a meta build and they suddenly can’t play. Give me a warrior with cleric stats and I’ll still play through the dungeon as well as I can with berserker stats, because Zera.

Play whatever you want. You paid for your copy of the game, not them. When you see that LFG advertisement that says “ZERKER ONLY PING GEAR OR KICK ZOMG POWERTHIRST WTFBBQ!!!1” just block those players. They have nothing good to offer. You are fine as you are, because it is just a game… also because Zera.

I really wish these WoW players would stop calling for GW2 to polymorph into WoW. I recommend playing Rift. It’s WoW with better graphics.

I’m sorry… all I see is an overbearing sense of entitlement. The game has plenty for people to do and work on. I have over ten lvl 80 characters and they all have things they can work on. Ascended equipment outfitting, W3 rank, sPvP, material gathering for the new upcoming legendaries and precursor crafting. Don’t tell me you don’t have anything to do because you’re just lazy.

Yep, it’s not whether or not it could be played on a tablet (obviously the program can be run), it’s whether or not it would play well enough to really be enjoyed as it was meant to be. It’s like trying to play using only the mouse without the keyboard. It can be done, but it’s a lot less fun and more cumbersome. You would really be limiting your gameplay experience. GW1 is too good of a game to play in such a limited way. Enjoy it in all its glory with a mouse and keyboard, OP.

I would be in favor of this if it were optional, rather than required like it was in Rift. I can see the merits of having the option. I played Rift, and while I enjoyed it for the most part, I hated having to rebind all my keybindings on my characters. I keep things in a one-size-fits-all sort of configuration and it works for me.

The only reason to buy order armor is to unlock it for your wardrobe.

I’m going to piggy back on what I mentioned in the colorblind thread. If ArenaNet could add the option to make it so that the cursor inverted the colors of all the pixels covered by the mouse pointer, it would be very difficult to lose sight of it. I use the fast cast ground targeting, so wherever my mouse pointer is at is where my aoe goes. I completely cut out the large green aoe circle indicator. I just mouse over and fire away. I feel this would solve all your problems with ground targeting.

So I just remembered why Lion’s Arch is still destroyed and not rebuilt. It’s because Lionguard Lynns has not made a return. ArenaNet, please put Lionguard Lynns back on duty taking up collections. She was instrumental in the rebuilding of Lion’s Arch after those kitten ed karka showed up. I would like to see LA rebuilt, or at the very least have all that breachmaker scrap cleaned up. Any reminder of that psychopath that shall not be named is bad.

And don’t you dare tell me she was corrupted by Mordremoth. That would be worse than that psychopath that shall not be named.

GW1 is far too complex of a game to be ported to phones/tablets. When the only way to interact with a game is by tapping a screen, how would you move while attacking? If you had click to walk enabled, how would the small screen know if your huge thumb meant to select an enemy target or the terrain right next to it, causing you to run next to the target instead of attacking it? The skill bar at the bottom would likely take up a large portion of the bottom of your screen, limiting your overall screen real estate. If you shrunk the skill bar, your thumb might cover three skills and the game wont know which you meant to ‘click’. How about targeting friendly players to heal/support them? The party list window would take up another large chunk of your screen, what with their health bars and names (plus they would also be small and hard to select accurately). The compass would take up more space. Then there’s the chat window. What about turning the camera quickly and efficiently? Some parts of GW1 (especially PvP) require precise and quick camera movement. How will they zoom in or out while moving around and using skills? Toggle run/walk? Fortunately you can’t jump in GW1 so that’s one less hurdle to think about.

I love GW1 as much as anyone else, but I don’t think a port, much less to an android device, would be a good thing. The game would probably not be very well optimized since ArenaNet is not putting any focus on GW1. It would not play very well and it would in turn give GW1 a bad name. GW1 deserves better. And no, consoles are out of the question, too. Sure, current gen (next gen is a console being developed for the future) consoles can support mice and keyboards, but the hurdles with licensing and regular updates just wont work to ArenaNet’s advantage. WoW is a much bigger game with a larger player base and it never got a console/phone port because like ArenaNet, Blizzard knows better.

If you want mobile gaming, play on a laptop.

ArenaNet might actually like this idea. Further incentive to buy gems only means more money for ArenaNet. Personally I’m fine either way. I periodically buy gems with real money because every once in a while they come up with things I actually want and I have money set aside for discretionary spending such as this (budgeting: it’s a good thing). It would be a smart business move by them, to say the least. If it works for brick and mortar stores, it will likely work here too.
