I purchase items often from the gem store. Seems like a good place to me, the only people that completely hate it are the ones that want everything the gem store offers for free. I can’t even say they want them for gold, because you can already get them for gold. So its either free items or they will complain.

Sweet when did you get access to the build before everyone else?

If you do not have access, then do not pull out numbers you have no concept of.

Gw2 has no monthly fees
that’s what sells me on this game

I completely rufuse to support subscription based games as they are nothing more than a colossal rip off

Gw2 proves you can make a superb high quality MMO and not extort money from your fanbase every month

I would never have gotten into MMO’s or online gaming for that matter if it was not for Guildwars 1 and its no monthly fee policy

Really? I’ve had the exact opposite experience. Never have I seen a game rip you off more than GW2. I mean $100 a month on average to access all the games content… I’d gladly pay a pitiful $15 a month for the same privilege with the added bonus of the devs not purposefully designing inconveniences into the game to sell you stuff.

Really need to stop posting this, you can use in game gold. Of course it will always take more time than using R/L money. But that is the point of it isn’kitten You do not have 5 hours to grind out the gold needed, but you do have the extra $ to get the same item. In other games where you where you pay the 15$ you still have to grind out the 5 hours, GW2 just removes the time factor when you use R/L money.

Just to iterate again, there is nothing at all in this game blocked by a pay wall. Nothing that you need to spend R/L money on that you couldn’t work towards in the game without the R/L money.

Comparing those lists to GW2 shows how truly horrible GW2s list of added content really is. It doesnt even come close to one expansion, much less two that were launched in the same timeframe as GW2s “living” story.

Not to mention there wasn’t a cash shop nickel and dimeing the players at every chance they could. Just where is all the money going to?

Rude comment, but again most of your posts in this thread have been rather illogical. You really should take a step away from the computer for a bit. You do not have to spend a dime on the gem shop, you can use in game gold.

Temporary content was a big mistake, it needs permanent mini-expansions not temporary.

Lols at the thought of permanent content that people play through once and never touch again, only to become a dead zone. Been there done that with WoW, have you seen Burning Crusade lands? The whole point about temp content is that the world is moving on, if you are not there when something happens then you missed it. This is not the type of game that will just throw content in and let it get stale like the rest of the MMO’s on the market. If you are looking for a world that never changes besides the 1-2 year expansion that comes out it might be time to move on. This game should never go that route, and from how the developers talk it will never go that route.

Ah okay, so basically it’s:

“They added all this stuff but I don’t care about that. So, it doesn’t actually count.”

Riveting stuff.

The only thing that could be considered remotely an addition to endgame was the 5 fractal paths, which if you were already lvl 50, there was absolute positively no reason to do them, most people by then are absolutely sick of fractals.

So it’s obvious that is loads of new endgame content added in the game but you just don’t want to do it. Right

I have done it all, when Teq came out I went and killed him with a zerg in about 5 minutes, if you call that “endgame” I can see how you don’t understand where I’m coming from.

And there it is, so you just admitted that this is not the endgame content that you want. You should edit the OP to reflect this change, because what you are saying is that there is not endgame content added in 1 year 5 months 11 days. At least if you are going to add numbers to things have accurate statements to back it up.

Ya you sure got me! Teq sure is one of the hardest things to accomplish in the game, I almost squealed in joy the 1st time we downed that sucker XD !

And the loot… simply EPIC, nothing will EVER give me that rush again.

I cant wait for more worldbosses, who needs stinky dungeon or proper raids?

Not trying to get anything, I am just pointing out that your original post is not logically correct. You state that there is no endgame content added in X amount of time. Then you state that there is endgame content just stuff you find faceroll easy or stuff you just don’t like.

Because of that contradiction to the original statement the entire post has now become invalid. I’m not trying to side either way just pointing out simple logic.

Being a developer in this day an age equates to. People complaining on the forums when you make a good change, people complaining when you make a bad change, and people complaining when you make no change.

This is why they use in game metrics over the ‘outspoken’ minority that is forum dwellers. Sad but true, at least out of every 20 opinionated posts there are those that truly provide constructive criticism.

Clearly the OP has a specific ‘endgame content’ in mind, and anything to prove otherwise will still show that it has been 1 year 5 months 11 days.

This comes up often, if someone believes that they are not receiving what they want then there has been 0 development in the game. I for one am not like the OP and see how much the developers have put in the game and what else is coming. I also am very happy I have not had to pay a monthly fee nor pay for the content that is being developed and released.

Wardrobe and previous Gem Store Purchases

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Zypher.7609

Zypher.7609

They have said when you log on with a character, that character’s armor set will be added to the wardrobe. Most likely implying that anything that was previously purchased and equiped that you have since overwritten with a different set of armor will be lost.

Before people start complaining that they ‘want’ what was already purchased/earned. Understand that you knowingly overwrote the armor with a different look. You also were never promised this wardrobe nor did you know about it before this announcement. This is a great system that you now have going forward to be able to log your items in the wardrobe for future use. Things change, please do not start posting about how you are entitled to receive the look because at somepoint in time you had the look, and since you had it then you deserve it now. This is not the case, that look was lost when you decided to overwrite it with a different look.

I for one am happy that I will now be able to log all future items I equip in the wardrobe.

Also to note it looks like you will actually have to equip it to log it, that way someone couldn’t buy a legendary, log the item in the wardrobe then sell the item on the TP.

Convert Gold to Gems

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Zypher.7609

Zypher.7609

What? Give me the gold and I will convert them to gems.

You have to earn gold by playing the game.

What I’m saying is the convert rate from gold to gems is too low. Unless you are a pro TP flipper, it isn’t worth to buy gems with your hard earned gold.

Run the world boss run after a reset on a high populated server where they go down fairly easily. If you manage the items that you get properly you will come out with on average 35-50gold a night for under 2 hours of work. Basically the 2 hours because you are waiting for bosses to spawn. So in 2 days you could have anything that is on the the gemstore for under 1000 gems. But people will always still complain the game is P2W because you have the option to spend R/L money for the people that do not want to spend the 4 hours of gameplay to get the same item.

If they can not log in and get exactly what they want with exactly the amount of effort they want to provide, there will be complaints.

I really can’t believe all the people that want the wardrobe to be free. Really so you get the skin once and can use it when ever you want free of charge? How do you think this game is paid for? You do not pay monthly, you do not have to pay for the April 15th patch. Really I think you just want a game you log into, gets updated when ever you want but then you also get every single thing in the game. Just for the heads up the people that do the updating would like to get paid for the work they do.

Same, I am so glad this is being put in. I have been very wary of buying the skins off the TP because I would have to buy them again if I wanted just the chest on another character. I do not mind at all paying for the transmutation cost of it.

Feature Patch = Gem Store 2.0?

LOL Gem Store is PURE aesthetic part of the game, while TRAITS are a functional part of the game. They do not plan to go pay2win, just look2win type of model.

Even if they added traits to the gemstore, which they will not do. It still would not be P2W. For something to be P2W the ONLY way to get the item would be through R/L money, since nothing EVER in the gemstore has been made available through R/L money only. The gemstore is not P2W.

It’s too late. Most people are quitting for either D3 or ESO after today’s patch. My 500 person guild just dissolved to move to D3… Anet got tons and tons of second chances, but people are just fed up with it now.

Why are people going to quit? Because they expected that today would be a large feature patch that A-net has said over and over again that it wouldn’t be?

Because the game is stale and no one wants to wait till July for another failed attempt at balance. Anet has squandered their fortunes with this game. Real competition is coming out now. GW2 isn’t the goto game just because ’there’s nothing else to play’.

Competition is always coming out, using this as a reason is just silly. Also if you feel that way just take a break from the game for a little bit, then wait until the patch comes out. You are in no way bound to the game, you do not pay a subscription, you do not sign your time over. Free to do what ever you need to do.

Like I said before, thousands of mmorpg out there, why is it only a problem in diablo 3 and gw2. It’s not like you can’t flip in other mmorpg but people dont’ compalin about flipping there.

Because “winning” in this game is expensive cosmetics, even if they look terrible, and these cosmetics can be bought. The most profitable way is the TP. That’s why people complain, but they are being ridiculous.

The fastest way to obtain gold is gem to gold conversion, not the tp. If I would have worked an extra hours each day in my job and used my extra pay to buy gems to convert them to gold, i would have far more gold than playing the tp for an hour every day.

And this is the reason I put in an extra hour of work each week, use it for an easy 100 gold. Then do not have to worry about farming or any of the high gold activities. I am able to just play the game and not have to worry about gold at all. As an added bonus to this my boss sees me working extra time during the week. It is like a win – win situation.

This last patch is an hour or two worth of events and $1000 worth of gemstore items.

Tormented Weapons – 60-100 Gold in game, so at Gem – > Gold rate, about $20.
Minis – 500 gems, $6.25
New guild finisher, 800 gems, $10.00

Total: ~36.25

Difference from your total, $1000-36.25 = $963.75

Really not much else to say, besides learn to math.

Actually they came right out and said it wouldn’t provide new features. And that the features are coming in the feature patch which would be after the LS1 ends, and after a short break. In the amount of time it took you to write the original post you could have read the article that was released showing all this information. Don’t hate on a company that tells you there won’t be new features during a certain patch, and when that patch happens there are no new features. Common sense just doesn’t seem to be common anymore.

tbh id rather give them 60 bucks to make a new and mindblowingly awesome expansion then i would care for suboptimal free content. Free content does not work.. they cannot provide a true expansion like how blizzard does for instance and not charge money, never gonna happen. The business model now will always mean small updates like the LS system. I still cant understand why they chose this format. Im pretty kitten sure they’d sell a couple million expansions just as they did the original game.

I think a lot of people are starting to lean that way.

It’s also frustrating because the whole “cosmetic end-game” essentially revolves around the gem store.

By lot of people you must mean the ones that frequent the forums saying how much they hate the LS? Because really everyone else that enjoys it is in the game playing, which seems to be enough people to produce plenty of overflows. So really this does not make any sense at all. I for one hate the model of waiting 1- 2 years for an expansion, to then spend 60$ play it for a month have all the content beat and then waiting another 1-2 years.

The amount of content that we have received in the past year has made me see that the bi-weekly updates are the way to go. I love knowing that new stuff is coming out every two weeks. I for one do not need a new zone, class, or race to realize that we are still getting new content every two weeks.

But again you can hope all you want for an expansion that costs $60 and that we receive every 1-2 years. For this game that is not going to happen, this business model has been working fine and is still working fine. If that does not suit your tastes time to move on and open up a spot on one of the events for people that actually enjoy playing.

You said I should go back to GW1. I could just easily tell you to move to another extremely grindy MMO. That argument will lead nowhere. Instead, look at the two different core design philosophies above. Pick and choose which you your prefer.

I’m not asking the developers to change the game for me. That is what you are trying to do, I enjoy the way the game is. So I made the mention that if you really did enjoy GW1 so much you should just go back. I do not find GW2 grindy at all because I do not support the claim that Ascended armor is needed. I have 5 different sets of exotic in the bank for my character, it takes me 2 minutes to respec. A little be more if I forget what traits I used and need to look at my spreadsheet I have. (Which on this note would love a system to save a trait build.) Back to the point, I am just making the point that there is in no way that “Proof that GW2 is Vertical Progression.” that your post tries to make. I showed that there is vertical progession in every game, by this your first post is invalid.

Zypher.7609

Proof that GW1 has vertical progression:
I log into GW1 and I am level 1.
I do not have the best gear.
I can not complete all content.
So by the logic above, GW1 has vertical progression.

Every single game will have some form of vertical progression, albeit at different difficulties of it. Just because you may not be a fan of the Ascended gear, that does not make it it right to start saying it is bad and the cause of GW2 vertical progression. Some of the posts in here are correct in that you do not need Ascended. You may not be able to do every part of the game without it, but that does not mean that you can not do the majority of the content without it.

By saying that since you can not do all the of content, then we will go back to my original statement. I am level 1 in GW1 with nothing, but I can not do all the content. So I am upset with the design of GW1 since I can not do everything.

If you really dislike Ascended gear then do not create it. If you are so upset with it then just move on from this game. Go back to GW1 if it was such a superior system. I for one spent 8 years playing WoW, you want to see vertical progression/grid go play that for a bit. I very much enjoy the system GW1 has in place, I have been playing all the content, without high level fractals and triple wurm. I am using all exotics besides trinkets and such since since I can get them with laurels. I also have 500 LW so I would be able to make a set of ascended if I really needed it. But as it stands the cost of gold for the minor stat increases are just not worth it. Maybe this summer I will get around to crafting a set, who knows.

P2W is a non-existant term in GW2, as everything you can buy every gem store item with in-game gold too.

This is so true, P2W means an item you can only get through real world money. And yet there is pages and pages about gemstore being P2W.
