Akaigi | Warrior Made of Wood
[CDS] – Sanctum of Rall
Sorry aka, not running this morning.
Saving our energy so we can hunt TW tomorrow morning.
heh, no need for sorrys, cause that sounds fun. ; )) if the little one allows, and queues depending, i’ll try to join!
o snap, Tarsius, i didn’t mention but recently i’ve been running double meditations with Bane Signet as well lol.
definitely agree that you can keep changing on the fly as you go and face different enemies! same goes for each dungeon, or each encounter, or in WvW when you’re off to different objectives. don’t be afraid to switch major traits even while playing. : ))
i like Lonewolf’s ideas.
just to add on, to have idle animation like your character does, weapon sheathed or wielded. for e.g. wings would spread out and do a little stretch when idling.
D
i think wings flapping when there is movement, or maybe like said, dependent on weapons. and then wings definitely folded when standing still. apart from the idle animation mentioned above.
hmm i wonder if it’s becuse in the past they died so fast, they didn’t get a chance to get a hit on us. whereas now, when they’re surviving longer…
but, who knows. :///
“Stand your ground!”
(full Soldier Runes equipped and Pure of Voice traited.)
feel better now?
Good fun tonight on SOR. Asked people to leave the doylak train alone or join them in their caravan tonight. Fighting an unarmed foe just doesn’t feel honorable. Had some fun with TC instead.
a golden dolyak! :OOOO
and lol @ “Rawr Imma Bear”
love/hate relationship aside, BG are a great opponent and even better server. there’s no reason to spew hate like that. and now, you’re putting down your own server as well. you’re quite the likeable fellar, aren’t ya?
grats on the projected points, BG! looking forward to seeing you guys again.
JQ, you too, of course. ; ))
and DB, still hoping to be able to play against you guys soon!
hi Kayku! i wanna come tag along tonight if you guys will be playing ; ))
sweet, thanks for the reply and confirmation.
yea i was planning to use one of my alts for the bloodstone shard and gift of mastery. i have one gift of explroation (the one you get for 100% map) left over as well so i can use that. but might as well map complete again ; )) it was fun the last time i did it!
aww that’s awesome!
D
i’m there in my dolyak spirit!
another bump!
well done, Silven! really enjoyed this. definitely will help casters and even myself, learn more about the Guardian and tPvP.
keep it up buddy
country restrictions are no fun. : ((
i second judge’s banish footage as well! especially against non suspecting foes
D that’ll teach ’em to never run by a cliff.
the best thing about shield is.. you have 3, 4, 5 enemies takign the high ground raining arrows down on your allies? sneaky uppy behidn them and BAM. send them right where they didn’t wanna be found.
:OOO
no way! that opens up so many doors for us!
that moment when you fall off the chair cause both legs are numbbbbbbed.
don’t forget to consume H2O either! though that then introduces the need for taking bathroom breaks.
well darnit, aren’t you boys and girls behaving? ; )))
is YAK PARADE GOING ON NOOOW??????????
i’m starting my legendary track for Rodgort
since i’ve been playing with torch a lot more.. i really only main my Guardian and i’ve spent most of my skillpoints on Juggernaut a few months back.. and haven’t been actively collecting mats, etc or saving karma lol sicne i didn’t think i’d go for another legendary, but this will be another proejct on the side. : ))
so main question is.. i have about 50 odd skillpoints now but i’ll need something around 350 total if i’m lucky. i assume Gift of Mastery is account bound? so i was thinking would it be better to level up one of my alts and map complete for the skillpoints, craft the gift using them and then later on when i have all other things, have my Guardian craft the weapon?
i dont’ feel leveling up is slow at all in this game, but i feel if i’m getting SP’s only through leveling, it could take a lot longer. and i guess i can finally map complete and level up my alts too. XDD
everyone sell them for cheap nao! XDD
agree bravoart. didn’t think it was the best “fix”. the mobs that spread out right off the get go are the worst lol.
ooor if like SAB baubles, even if people killed them, the “loot” would still be around for anyone to pick up?
but i guess what’s done is done.
i’m rooting for you swiftpaw!!!
lol. absolutely love this.
i gotta go visit this guy again. what a toughie.
i’ve read elsewhere (reddit most likely) that the two dragon ball related achievements currently don’t count towards the meta at the moment. not sure if it’s intended or a bug.
nononoooo, keep speading the goodness, kindness, and courtesy!
don’t take a step backwards… i know it’s easier to do “bad” than “good” and it takes that many A’s to make up for that one C.. but for those of you who started off being nice, STICK WITH IT. : ))) you have no idea who’s day you might make and it’s a small sacrifice to pay.
wait first. someone will wait for you next time. even if they don’t, that’s fine.
o snap it IS halloween again soon.
it’s almost been a year!
how fun would a dragon themed jumping puzzle be. now my hopes are quiet high thanks to this thread. ; )))
when i first started PvP, a month or two ago, i started off in tPvP right away (this was during 2team tPvP already) and wasn’t as chaotic as hotjoin. was lucky enough to be paired up with a r30, 40+ 3man team we played alright, so kept playing with them and learned a lot the first few matches alone.
so perhaps it is more interest, which i think is good. but ic an see how it can be discouraging for both sides when it becomes a really lopsided match, and in the end, a negative for the sPvP scene of gw2.
i actually kind of like down state. it does add some “complexity” if you will. sure at times, people will be able to cheese out of a certain death if you will.. there are a ton of ways to work around it.
regardless though, i’ve never been a big fan of the mini PvP games gw2 has offered so far. dragon ball is not bad though! pretty fun mechanics. it’s a nice little game you can jump into and play for a bit.
though i still fin s/tPvP way more exhilirating.
and we will be getting another update / patch soooon i hope. ; ))
love the “holiday” JP’s!!
i wrote this elsewhere.. i enjoyed my time “farming” these nodes. i even made a few acquaintances and dare i say, friends in the process. if you wait, people thank you. and they return the favor. ideally, they pass it on!
i’ve witnessed folks i’ve waited for doing the same for others. vice versa. not saying i was the reason why, they were most likely already inclined to do so themselves… but i’d imagine, if mroe peolpe did this, just auto attack or cleave to get your goodies and hits in, more people profit.
again, it boils down to those that feel efficiencyerhmagerdzzz >>> everything else. there were times when i announced nodes, was waiting, then some random comes up, activates, and i wouldn’t even get a hit in cause i was typing and asking them to wait as i knew more people were coming. but that’s okay too.
i almost kind of like this system. it’s a test to the playerbase if you will. the system is designed in such a way where it oculd promote competition. or furthermore, promote TRUE cooperation. not cooperation by design, but cooperation because you want to enjoy and share the experience with other fellow players. i believe, in the end, it’s up to the players to create this atmosphere.
of course, ANet can give us the tools.. but if they give us hammers, and we keep trying to use ’em like wrenches, what gives? : ))
that being said, the systems can definitely be more refined. gw2 is a great game, and a growing world.. hopefulyl ANet keeps picking up from constructive feedback and suggestions such as OP’s and keep working to better the game. and consequently, the playerbase so we get into a virtuous cycle of things.
i think that’s one of the key things to playing DPS, you keep putting on pressure, and your enemies, especially if taken by surprise will go through a quick fight or flight debate. and when you’re 75% less health from the get go, you’re gonna intuitively run, even though you know it may be futile. if you stay and fight, it’s most likely a loss.
keep up the pressure, your opponents will most likely switch to defend if you have the “upper hand”, be it positioning, skill cap, element of surprise…
hahaha right on, Silentstorm.
but Ghost is right! thanks for the reminder. though, not holding my breath. ; )))
i’m actually playing almost full zerker with meditations. i used to slot Stand Your Ground.. argubly one of our strongest skills. though, at times, i’ll run triple meds and enjoy that a lot. both CoP and SYG are stun breakers. one gives stability, one condition cleanse. iw ould switch depending on what situation you’re in. lot of CC and knockbanks potential? take SYG. lot of conditions? nobrainer CoP. though CoP does act as an additional small heal if you’re running MF. which will come later on.
hmm. lol.
now i’ll have to find those that only 2, 3, 4 and 5.
not to go off track, is there a viable 1v1 build with staff?
@Hickeroar – you’ve been an absolute pleasure in this thread. thank you. come play with me during SEA time! ; ))
had a bit of fun roaming SoSBL last night in a two man group. but was rather hard to find people to play against. :/// mainly 2vCamps/Sentries. ; ))
if i am the first to reach a hologram, i usually announce on map chat letting people know this one’s available, that i’ll be opening it in around 10 – 20 seconds. this didn’t work as well, acuse once i waited waited over the stated time, no one came, so i started it and we all know hwo fast they die. then i see someone come around the corner. : (( and i feel terribad.
so next, i started to.. say put x in map chat, if you wanna come and i’l wait! this worked a lot better. i’ll always look around too especially if WPs are close to see if people port in.. and people would thank me. later on i would see the same people wait on me as they saw me running in the distance heading towards an new hologram. : )) it was nice to see that.
though always, there will be people who even when you politely ask them to wait in /say as they run up to the ones i’ve just announced, who people have expressed interest in comnig to farm together.. will just ignore you, activate it and kill them all while i was still typing. and there’s really not much you can do about that.. but to carry on.
also, use cleaves if you can if there are a lot of people around. i use staff 1 on my Guard. guaranteed bag loot and gives others a chance to loot as well.
i don’t think it’s the problem of the game. it’s the players who choose to do what they want and how they play. perhaps, you could even say it’s a test for the players in the game then. if you had good intentions for other players, keep it up! doesn’t mean you have to stoop to their levels of the efficiency mongering i do what i want type players… upkeep the positive community if anything!
it’s been only 2, 3 days so far. the speed farming will die down. stick to your own style. lend a helping hand. take a second or two to make a new friend. sometimes, not everything is about rewards.. but rather, the experience.
and i KNOW i’m not the only one that thinks like this.
must say i sort of wanted more than just.. that trait being fixed. though at the same time, that they didn’t touch stuff that was working. oh well, i might just be comforting myself.
the fallen skills.. not sure how i feel about that. that’s picking ONE entire trait, on the premise that you’ll be going down quite often to justify picking it over other traits.
i mean, there will be fights where i expect to go down (for e.g… in WvW, just to hold off and stall enemy forces, 5 vs 20 for e.g…) but most of the time, i expect to live. and win. ; ))
heh, been seeing more talk on Rune of the Citadel lately. not just here, or mayb this is where it spurred from. the fury procs and long duration is definitely something note worthy.
i like the addition of the Water / boon duration runes, Bash. i personally wouldn’t opt for Rune of the Pack for this build. though like you mentioned, the 1h build should still be more than fine. i have Pack on my standard go to WvW set, but debating if i shoudl switch it up. ; ))
and the wife is an RRR ranger now? what happened to thief? :OO
^^^ just wanted to say, love your vids haha. the banish montage was deliciously fun to watch.
i actually haven’t actively used ToC before, but I am slotting it in and hoping to get some good practice with it. i’ll be checking out your videos and see if i can pick up a thing or two. that’s very true though, when i see others use it, i rarely see 2 or 3 get touched!
loving the vibe in here. : ))
keep on truckin’, TC, SoS and yes, you too, SoR.
can’t wait to join in on the fun.
i will definitely always be bringing my best to you folk. ; )) heh.
Cleric’s is doable, and can work wonders in WvW/PvP, especially if you’re going for self-sustain or group support. and they CAN be specced for decent damage as well. of course, you won’t be killing super fast.
though for dungeons, most will usually opt for damage over full support. and as JJBigs mentioned, with the Guardian’s innate abilities and the way we were designed, we can still offer a ton of support even if specced for damage.
though argubly, this can depends on your group as well if they need the support, or rather prefer to go for more damage and quicker work of mobs.
what is the main purpose of this build? : ))
i have a personal threashold for healing power that is has to be close to 700 – 1k for me to deliberately invest into it. though it still scales well with dodge roll heals so that’s not bad.
one major thing though, you’re not using any meditations? so perhaps switch up the Valor Major traits. unless if it was a mistake. then either go for Defender’s Flame (but then i would switch your heal to Shelter), Purity (if conditions worry you) or Retributive Armor.
—> then on the point with switching the heal to Shelter, i only use the Signet heal when i have at least 10 invested in Radiance for the shorter cooldown. but again, that’s just me. the big heal is super nice, but on a slightly longer cooldown. toss it up with the 2s block and heal on a shorter CD.
Unscathed Contender in the virtues line i think is good for initial burst, since we don’t have reliable ways of reapplying Aegis THAT often. and a good player in WvW will use ranged auto attacks to get rid of your aegis first most of the time anyways if you don’t spot them first. so i may or may not change that, again, depending on your goal for t his build. it’s damage is decent but doesn’t seem to be a lot of burst potential so perhaps you can further buff Consecrations. or two other really nice traits in the Virtues line is Absolute Resolution, buffed passive VoR and removes 3 conditions AoE when activated. and Indomitable Courage, VoC also gives stability when activated. argubly, these are more effective and called for in WvW though.
just some thoughts and hope these help a bit.
i think 3188 armor is more than enough as well. especially with Signet of Judgment if you decide to keep it. : ))
[edit: oops, fixed some mistakes!]
Hmmm WvW down atm…. what to do.
We did a multiguild (CERN led) zerg of Balthazar. No exagerration, we think we burned him faster than he’s ever been burned before. He went from full health to dead in about 20 seconds.
I’d love to know if that was a record.
It was a little more than 20 seconds, but it was still the most ridiculous Balth I’ve ever seen. If only we had a few more commanders on the field..
ahha snap. would have loved to be part of that. that guy is a bully.
you know my list, Bas. ; ))
here’s a BIG thank you to Professor Beard!! /cheer /cheer /cheer
we do appreciate all the hard work you guys put into this on your own time. thoroughly enjoyed the few Consecrated casts we’ve had. always looking forward to more.
i used to use Tome of Wrath in WvW quite a bit. i didn’t use 5 as much.. but if i had stability, i’d open with that. then usually 4 followed with 2, or 3 and spam 1.
for Tome of Courage, in addition to stability, a lot of people open with 4, dazing foes and then go directly into 5 for the full heal.
i’ve also seen folk use the longer lasting elites in WvW if your sole focus is to support and they use ToC, which lasts quiet a while longer. probs not as viable in a PvP setting.
you target them, left click or what not, and then iirc, hit “p”, and it should automatically party invite them.
someone do correct me if i am wrong! i haven’t done it in a while.
often i’ve had decent 1v1’s, it always ends in either myself or the other guy getting rolled by a roaming mini (or LARGE) zerg on either side. all cases, we’ve stuck around and chatted for a bit, talked about gear, builds, how to fight each other better, what was frustrating abotu the fight, lol. always good times. : )))
props, OP!
i’ll alwys accept an invitation.. if they flame you, just move along, no need to retaliate. i want to say more cases than not though, from my own experience, it’s a friendly invite : ))
HOLIDAY TOMORROW IN HK!!!!
expect to see me tonight (SEA/Ocn time) and some of tomorrow NA time
DDDDD
…o wait, dragon bash! XDD
@OP, go for it! : ))) i’m a Guardian as well and currently grinding for Mjolnir also. it’ll take a while. it’s BEEN taking a while already, but can’t wait to get it. : )))
and i’m semi-working on other legendaries (Rodgort for starters, then maybe Twilight, Flameseeker) as well as i keep playing. no hurry though. i can guarantee it’ll be just as satisfying when you get ’em!
i’m assuming the Shattered Wings, which are obtained via the meta DB achievement, will be account bound? i.e. each account will only be able to sport one?
if so, i’m gonna have a hard time deciding if it’ll go on my PvE/WvW or PvP char!
well, it’s the same guy really.. but yea. lol
if you haven’t yet, you can check out gw2hub’s preview and they mentioned that the coffers drop relatively easily and getting the weapon tickets shouldn’t be too much of a hassle.. at least not compared to the last few installments of skins.
and iirc, coffers will be available for the TP as well. so you can count on the hardcore farmers to help us all out. XPP
GW2Hub: People are keen to avoid the RNG that has plagued some of the previous content, is there going to be a large proportion of randomness to obtaining the best items or can players expect to complete the content and be rewarded?
Will (Fairfield, ArenaNet): We feel with this that we have a good mix of both of those. We have one set of holographic wings that come from Dragon Ball (a rare chance of getting it) and also the meta-achievement to get another set of wings. They are the shattered wings while the drop wings are bat-like. Those can also be bought off the Zhaitaffy vendor. As far as weapon drops, we will have a weapon set available and tickets will drop in regular and rich Dragon Coffers which you can get in the gem store. The regular Dragon Coffers, unlike other festival boxes will be tradable. They will drop off everything in the world and are rewarded them for doing almost everything.
We like the RNG style, but we also like to offer players several different ways to get rewards. We’ve given RNG and a way of working at it as well. The odds are much better than before. We’ve also modified multiples of rewards so you get them much more (as opposed to once). We feel that’ll give players the more ability to get what they want. Lastly, the weapon sets available is also a full set and we’re adding a Black Lion Specialist where players can use any previously unused tickets to obtain items from Wintersday or a choice of the molten weapons.
though in the end, we won’t know until Dragon Bash starts.. which is SOON! : )))
aww so no one here misses SoR? ; ))
this seems to be a fun match. would love to see more videos plsssss.
go get ’em DB! hoping to play against you guys one day as well. heh
good luck all!
: ((( nothing like lag in a competitive gaming settnig. here’s to your interwebz getting fixed sooner than later buddy.
got all the time in the world. woot for new vid!
heh, i guessed lemongrass poultry and saffron mango – which is really good if you’re wanting to max healing+! never really looked into it before. pretty nice.
and BAH! i missed sigil of stamina, lol. shoulda guessed though.. you were having a ton of dodges, and i might try those instead of energy on my asura. XDD especially what with looknig like yoda haha
i think you have a point. i’ve been running more DPS oriented builds as of late, which is sort of on the other end of the spectrum that you mentioned. though been trying to roam more since i don’t get to play when most everyone’s playing, so it’s sliiiightly hard to play support when you’re on your own XDD
