Lazy people pay the price when they are lazy. Unlazy people set their own buy/sell orders. This is not manipulation this is taking advantage of lazy people. A perfectly acceptable practice in a economy.
Every time I sell to highest seller and buy from highest seller I know I am loosing out on money the majority of time. But when I do I know I am being lazy and paying the price for it.
]It’s sad that having more people to help you in MMO is now considered “doing it wrong”.
so, 6 groups of 10 people coordinating with each other is less “MMO”, then 1 group of 60 people mashing “1” in silence?
The hard cap for zones is not 60, but 150, remember? And 6 groups of 25 people in this case is definitely “doing it wrong”. Which, as i mentioned before, is sad in an MMO.
Unless things changed from last year the hard cap for that map is closer to 75 then 150.
I would be really happy if they were to improve AI design. Maybe some new dungeons while we are at it using that new AI design.
Do control builds even exist in the first place in gw2 pve?
Nope, Anet only wants the dps role. Support, control, healing, tank and every other role are not welcome in Anet’s game.
Except there is a fractal that exists that without crowd control you will have a harder time. I am looking at you grawl fractal
What content is so hard you need to inspect people o_O
The issue is here the inability to read (lfg) and being honest (link gear A while wear gear.
Or you are just assuming that they are not when they really are. You will never know.
I thought it was just a message in the chat box. There are flashing messages now? Does anyone have a screenie? I’ve not seen this.
To clarify, since it does not show up in the screenshot posted above –
the ad was just llike the previous announcements of – “Scarlet’s Minons are Attacking Frostgorge Sound!” big yellow text, right in the middle of the screen. It also showed up in the chat box.Notification is fine. In-game mail would have been much better than this immersion breaker.
Problem with in game mail is that people will complain that it is taking up slots of their mail event though it would not. Or people would complain about having to delete it. Or complain that ArenaNet is spamming them.
But I do agree mail would have been better. Both for ArenaNet and the players.
It’s just the OP has noticed, and I assume others like myself have noticed, screen shots of that notice being posted in all the treads dealing with perceived poor loot or the removal of train champs in starting zones. And yes it’s being used as ammunition.
..
It started happening so much and so many people were clicking the +1 button on them that I got annoyed with it and made this thread basically requesting that ArenaNet not give the trolls ammunition. I still think the advertisement is a good think. I still think Gems to gold is a good thing. But I do not think it is a good idea to sell it during a week of a nerf.
Thank you for upping the rewards.
My server community went from meh we may organize something just to see it done to ya lets do this. They may decide to run it after our servers Tequatl run every day when it does not conflict with other events(Guild Missions, WvW reset, Orr runs, etc). It was a nice relaxing farm (but also at the same time a gold sink as there is the sink of gold to start the event and the sink of gold for selling the mats.
Now I am much closer to getting the rewards I want from the previous living stories.
I think whenever there is a nerf to income(like the changes to queens pavilion). That patch week ArenaNet don’t advertise gold to Gems conversion. It can give the more conspiracy theory minded players ammunition.
Conspiracy theorists don’t need ammunition, they make up their own.
Anet isn’t going to pay attention to them, anyway, so why would they be concerned? No one with half a brain takes them seriously. That would be like saying “shut down the forums so the trolls have nothing to do!” The forums are here for a reason beyond the trolls, it would be foolish to deny legitimate users a forum just because of this.
Advertising gems – gold conversion is good for business because more people read those announcements than the forums. And with the majority of conversion activity going in the other direction (buying “free” gems with in-game currency), the gems to gold rate is becoming more attractive to casual players while annoying grinders who get less gems every month for their gold.
The more people who know they can get gold for their real money instead of grinding boring content for hours on end (and using up very limited playing time not having fun), the better it is for everyone. Casuals can keep up with the grinders, and the hardcore players get more gems for their gold as the exchange rate begins to move in the other direction.
If you go outside, you might get rained on. Is this a reason to never leave your house?
Mostly I just got tired of reading the conspiracies and seeing them up-voted thought that people was actually believing the conspiracy theories so I made this post.
Perhaps a lot of people are misunderstanding the purpose of my post. Due to it being detached from content and in attempt not to insult anyone.
I was asking them to hold off advertising the gems to gold conversion in the blog post. Not stop the ability to do it. I fully support the gems->gold and gold->gems conversion. It reduces gold sellers and provides a source of income. It also gives players another option to earn gold to get what they wanted.

I believe this is the active thread.

I would say please use search but it broken. please see:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/forum/Search-feature-not-working/first
You can however use google just type in:
search term site:https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu
why would you want to play with someone like that?
I would argue (even just looking by at this thread) that the majority of players don’t care how you gear. Just make your own parties.
You guys make this so hard when you continue to play the role of a “victim.” Stop giving the power to the trolls and bullies!!
I don’t want to play with someone like that. I don’t go look for them. I don’t try to find them. They find us.
I agree the majority of players don’t care. I also do make my own parties. I don’t join your type.
The point is a group DPS meter will be exploited by trolls and bullies to the point that they will take it out. So why even put it in. That is what the players against DPS meters don’t want to deal with. If everyone would use it properly there would be no argument no disagreement. The problem is everyone won’t.
Please read my threads in this post to understand my opinion on the matter. Please also try to understand my position before you assume what it is.
There is more of this it is called a guild rush.
Was about to say that myself, cuz I do like being a kitten every now and then. :P
But I wouldn’t mind more of these kinds of things outside guild missions, since they tend to hold special mechanics (looking at you, trek and challenge).
I was not trying to be a “kitten”. I honestly thought he wanted more content like that so I told him where he could find some. Apparently he already knows about them.
I would like more events like this outside of guild missions. The question is would there be enough population for them in the open world. It works great during a festival outside of that due to variance in population I am not sure.
…..
And in my opinion, privacy concerns about your gear/stats is a little silly. If you build weird, OWN IT! Be confident! If i see someone with crap gear, i don’t automatically assume they’re a crap player, i just assume they’re still in the process of gearing just like the rest of us. Not everyone has optimal/BIS best gear all the time on all their toons. And with the price of runes nowadays i wouldn’t blame someone for still wearing the cof runes their gear came with.
But some people do automatically assume they are a bad player. A lot players rather not deal with the hassle that comes along with it.
….
Problem with that it is not OPT in for the player you are reading the damage on. Please see my previous post for why that is important.
I’m of the firm opinion that neither efficiency players nor laissez-faire players “own” the LFG tool. Both groups should advertise their preferences. Anyone who ignores what’s advertised deserves what they get. Your concern seems to be to “protect” players from a bad experience. These players should protect themselves by avoiding groups that aren’t looking for the same experience they are.
However, since not all efficiency players advertise their preference, perhaps purchase of the damage meter add-on should generate a flag on the account. When such a player starts a group or joins a group in the LFG, others can see that the meter is in play, and avoid the group or kick the player if that’s their preference.
Nowhere in my topic anywhere did I mention anything about the LFG tool. It is great that you advertise you are looking for zerk only builds that way I can avoid your runs. Problem is NOT EVERYONE DOES and what you are complaining about happens the other way too. That other way will become much more apparent and noticeable if group DPS meters without opt in ever being put into the game or made available through a 3rd party.
I don’t join speed runs nor do I run zerk only runs. Why? Because my gear is not all zerk. I don’t like all zerk. My trinkets and accessories and weapons are generally zerk but my armor is valks. I join the groups I like or create my own. You are right that neither efficiency players nor laissez-faire players “own” the LFG tool. The perception is that way however because when you go to see what groups are available those are the only groups advertising.
Sometimes I wish there was a system that hid your playstyle of game unless someone opts into it though some option. That way the bad attitude that comes from both sides would stop. (And no I am not saying that your attitude is bad.)
Please read my posts to understand my opinion on the topic.
There is more of this it is called a guild rush.
And no you can only run it once during that instance of the rush. You can however run it once every time the event is up.
I have to say though if this thread is representative of the community as a whole then the OP is right – we don’t respect “prestige” items.
I don’t think we do. If we did a lot more people would be walking around with the Guild Wars 2 cap on their characters.
We just like stuff that looks cool.
The question is should we respect “prestige” items?
You do get a chest reward. The display of the loot in the right that you get it is however bugged. Turn on your game messages you will see that you do get it.
For the millionth time, buying gems with gold still generates revune for ArenaNet, as all gems bought with gold were originally sold from player who bought gems with cash.
Except that’s not the case. The Exchange was stocked with a massive supply of gems and a little amount of gold at launch. While it’s true that most of the gold you get from selling gems was originally from players, the percentage of gems that a player gets that were added to the exchange by another player has been increasing as time goes on, it’s likely not even at 50% yet.
It most certainly isn’t “all”.
Why does it have to be stocked? Gems are not physical, they are virtual and can be created out of nothing. Anet just keeps a track of the supply and demand and adjusts the prices based on that. There is no pool of gems or anything. Just some number crunching.
Because supply = stock.
Ideally you couldn’t view someone else’s DPS unless they also got the Gem store feature. Otherwise my suggestion would be kind of pointless, haha.
Ahh in that case I am fine with that but like the API idea better as ArenaNet developer resources are not spent on developing the tool. It should be expensive though.
I was going to comment that we already have a personal DPS meter if you check out the combat log. Not efficient in a dungeon but take it into the mists on PvP practice and watch your log to see if you’re getting the numbers you want. Anzenketh beat me to that.
And don’t forget that with the trait change it’s not just gear that will slow the dungeon parties down. New players that haven’t unlocked their traits will be slowing these groups down too. So don’t forget it’s no longer just the gear.
I just don’t see the positive in adding these things to this game. If you are of the mind to max stats and DPS then build a guild around this mind set and invite others with a like mind.
I think the problem that PvE players have with the mists and this option is it takes into account your PvP gear not your PvE gear.
Honestly, you could just do the same thing that was suggested in the duel thread: Add it as an opt-in Gem Store feature. That way, there is a real barrier to entry and a legitimate excuse for not having the DPS meter, while making it accessible to those that would enjoy using it.
As much as I dislike the idea of game features in the store in a B2P game, this idea has some merit. The biggest problem for dedicated groups – whether they be efficiency or laissez-faire — is joiners who don’t respect the group’s preferences. A gem store add-on DPS meter and even /inspect enable would at least solve the problem for the efficiency people. Now if we could also buy a dipstick detector, it would be perfect.
Problem with that it is not OPT in for the player you are reading the damage on. Please see my previous post for why that is important.
Your solution (group with like minded players) would actually mitigate any issue caused by a group wide DPS meter.
I said in the first place that you could just ask people, but you are sacrificing accessibility, accuracy, and increasing the burden on other players to respond to your requests, in order to cater to players that don’t have any interest joining optimal groups in the first place.
Honestly, you could just do the same thing that was suggested in the duel thread: Add it as an opt-in Gem Store feature. That way, there is a real barrier to entry and a legitimate excuse for not having the DPS meter, while making it accessible to those that would enjoy using it.
I am not so worried about what the current min/maxes are doing. I am more worried about what regular Joe player would do with a DPS meter so no group with like minded player would not work if group-wide DPS meters would be released as a lot more people would be using them.
If you can come up with a good situation where group-wide DPS meters are needed I would be happy to consider changing my stance. Personally I don’t see a valid one.
The only valid one I have heard was compare yourself against other players to improve your play. The problem is comparing yourself against other players can go two ways. One way is for your own improvement. The other way is to put down, insult, force improvement on others or to tout your own horn. I am fine for self improvement. Grouping with like minded players solve that problem. Having personal meters and asking other players will solve that problem.
If group DPS meters were released there will be far more put downs, insults, forcing improvement or people putting themselves on a pedestal. This does not encourage friendly play. This is the reason why I am confident that group DPS meters will never be in game. I also agree that they should not be.
I do not approve of the gem store method as I think their development time should be spent on something that helps the majority of the playerbase.
Personal DPS meters I am ok we already sortof have them in the from of a combat log. If they allowed a API to pull everything from the combat log including what drop you get and allow chat with guilds I would be happy. Then players can make their own DPS meters. A group DPS meter would also be possible but not in a way that would effect the majority of the playerbase. Reason why it would not effect the wide playerbase is it would be a out of game tool developed by a 3rd party that players would have to go look for. If you like that idea then post in the following threads:

(edited by anzenketh.3759)
I would agree that the prestige of these items did diminished a small bit for the EU/NA the “I was there” is still there just to a lesser degree.
It is extreamly hard and would require a lot of farming(or a lot of gold which according to you is still prestige see legendary) to get every item that was released durring the living world. Esepcially the prestigious looking items like the molten gloves and the Gas Mask.
The true prestige that Arena-Net was going for in season one is when players talk about content that is no longer avalible. This is still there.
As for the “I am rich prestige” I am fine with it meaning I a rich in real life or in the game. Because that means one of two things. The player spent a lot of time doing something in game or the player spent a lot of time doing something in real life to earn that wealth. Agreed real life is not so proportionate to time between individuals as it is in game. But time still is money it is all dependent on how you use that time.
In short. Yes the prestige was diminished a small bit but not to the degree that I think it is worth not having something like this in the future. Also I would not call the entirety of the player-base in China a small group of players. They are the main reason some of these items were re-released. Something like this may not happen again.
People don’t want to get called out for being bad nor do they want to improve. Hence all the vitriol for DPS/Inspect meters, disguised as “I play how I want” ™
No they don’t want to get called out for not playing in the extreme end of efficiency when it is not needed. There is a balance that is needed in all things. I run a more balanced gear set for the simple reason I like having more health to afford room for error. There is room for glass cannons in the game but a DPS meter will force even more people to go glass cannon.
PVT and Clerics need their place in the game also.
(edited by anzenketh.3759)
@Scramble, if the dps meter is purely for personal improvement, it doesn’t need to be group wide.
A group wide tool is definitely beneficial, though.
While your personal DPS may improve as you get better, you could still be way behind other players’ DPS and not know it.
If you see that you are consistently at the bottom of the charts, you can tell there may be something you can improve on. Even if you think you are doing everything right there could be something very simple you are missing. But if you only see your numbers go up, you may have no idea there is an issue with your performance, relative to your peers.
You could always just ask your teammates, so it’s not necessarily a deal breaker, but i think a group wide tool is much more accessible and accurate.
Solution group with like minded players and ask them what their average DPS is if a tool like that ever exists on a personal level. Group wide will just be exploited by un-friendly players and further drive the zerker meta(one that I think is unhealthy for the game).
It is actually possible for balance by software to work out in theory. It establishes a good place to start then modify based upon player feedback. I would love the podcast/video/ready up to show how they do it. Who knows maybe players have feedback on the system (Besides the that is horrible way to balance.)

Seems like the most recent incarnation of this thread.
That said. I am fine with personal DPS meters but not a /inspect or a group DPS meter for reasons specified in the threads above. Nothing in the game has changed to make those arguments against invalid.
Doesn’t NEED to be crafting, there are enough parts in it that need to be crafted. it would be nice if it was added to PVP, they could easily make it a reward track even.
I would hate what the reward track would look like. I actually think it does drop from PvP it has a chance to drop in a rank up chest I believe.
The idea is to do specific things to put them together and get the precursor. Similar to the way they did the black moa chick only likely much more difficult.
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Black_Moa_Chick
Also when talking about crafting it will likely be Mystic Forge crafting. But crafting components may be involved including some of the time gated ones.
As a side note they are working on it. We do not know the final form it will take however.
Please stop advertising gold for gems. It is having a adverse effect on some of the playerbase (Especially those that frequent the forums). I know you are trying to combat gold sellers by letting players who may not know that they don’t need to go to 3rd parties to get gold for real life cash. But I feel like the fact you are advertising it is creating some negative feeling in small vocal sections of the community. I also feel that some players may buy into the negative feelings that the small vocal sections of the community are feeling.
Basically please stop advertising gold for gems. I think it is doing more harm then good.
EDIT: Perhaps I needed to clarify. I am not against the gems → gold conversion I am 100% for it. I just don’t think it should be advertised in Evons post at the moment.

Many champion events in the starter maps have been converted into veterans. This change is being made to ensure new players focus on learning the core game experience.
I am confused. Are people running a champ train on vets?
The original design of the game did not even have hearts. Hearts were put in because people expected Quest NPC’s. They are there to teach you some mechanics for later in the game.
I don’t think the dungeons need a revamp I think the rewards need a second look. Too many of the dungeons are too easy and the harder ones do not grant that much more in rewards.
That or scaling needs to be fixed to make it more difficult for level 80’s with exotics.
Unfortunately, I am not a baller.
I do have verizon internet though, just… the crappy cheap kind. Its it only FIOS or all of verizon internet?
It has also been reported on reddit to fix issues with not FIOS Verizon ISP issues.
As long as you have control of your character in 1/2 a second and evade only lasts that long then it is just a animation bug.
It looks like it only lasts about 1/2 second definitely not longer then 1 second though.
There are a lot of threads in the bug forum that without at least some acknowledgement players can be rather worried.
To resolve this I think two buttons that developers can press on the first post on the thread would be useful. This button will simply make a post that states a acknowledgement of sorts and specify that you can not provide a ETA.
Other buttons that may be useful that do the same thing are
Not a bug.
More information required.
A button that would add [Suggestion] to the start of a title.
The wiki has a note about it http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Diving_Goggles#Notes
The Diving Goggles on the Zephyrite kite ship in the Labyrinthine Cliffs can be used for the longest dive jump in the game. This jump does not count toward the Dive Master achievement, but instead granted the achievement Best. Dive. Ever. during the Living Story chapter Bazaar of the Four Winds.
However, there is a bug with it. I have used the goggles to dive several times, landing safely in the water each time, and have not received the “Best. Dive. Ever.” achievement. It is frustrating.
Edit: I forgot to mention that after landing safely in the water I am still under the diving goggles bundle. Even when swimming to land and exiting the water I’m still under it and have to click the “leave transformation” button in the elite skill slot.
Edit 2: I finally realized that I still had a couple of those special powers, Assisted Leap and the lighting one, when interacting with the goggles. So ending that transformation before using the goggles did fix it so I am out of the goggles transformation as soon as I step out of the water after jumping but I still haven’t received the achievement, even after trying about 20 times now.
Note the last sentence.
during the Living Story chapter Bazaar of the Four Winds.
It is delivered as a item so that you feel rewarded. Note you do not always get it from blues. They put it in crafting to make it so you do not have to click so much (Wish cooks could do that with karma jugs).
For the Welcome party you have to stay though all of the dialog similar to Lions Arch Aftermath.
For Sanctum Sprint Races see:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Dedicated-Sprinter-not-awarding-credit
It broke. Reported….
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Last-Online-is-broken
Waiting to be fixed. Must be a difficult problem. Personally I would be fine with them rolling it back to a semi-broken state.
You can pick up a Hall of Monuments Portal Stone from the Skritt Karma Vendor (I forget his name) in Hooligan’s Route in Lion’s Arch. Before the Patch, you could get it from Scornheart.
You get one in the Mail on each character you create after the link. Though, occasionally they do not arrive.
Good luck.
Did the vendor change after the update? I hope someone updates the wiki, cause I rely on that for info!
The pirates got kicked out of Hooligan’s Route and the skritt moved in. The vendor did change but the location is the same. The wiki still has a small amount of editors hopefully more players like me start working on it more as there is a lot of changes this patch.
(edited by anzenketh.3759)
No. You will need to accumulate 200 gold to make it go away.
(edited by anzenketh.3759)
It’s so that people would buy gems and convert them to gold. This is on one of their official advertisement pages.
They are posting that to combat Gold Sellers not for the reasons you think. I honestly wish they would stop advertising it is doing more harm then good now.
We will get another feature patch soon™. I still think they are going to do a expansion just not until much further down the line then the players expect. It took 7 years to make Guild Wars 2 the only reason why they have not stated they are working on it or given any indication on when it will be released is they simply do not know so it is better to promise nothing(and in the case of a unlikely worst case scenario avoid a City of Hero incident).
Personally I would rather get LS season 2 then wait the required time for another feature pack with no update.
They do test. They test frequently. You don’t need players or even a human being to test a lot of things. They are called Unit Tests. Using Unit tests they can make sure a lot of systems are functioning properly without the cost of humans testing them. The problem is unit tests are themselves are programs and will not catch everything(They may catch if the Taquatal phase trigger is not moving to the next phase which if it is triggered it will. However it may not catch a problem with the trigger not triggering itself because the server during its check on % has passed the trigger point. Don’t want phase 3 triggering at the same time as phase 2 do you. Basically that is a bug and the thresholds on the check are messed up. It is a difficult problem and taking longer to fix then something not doing damage. It also was not bugged at the release of the boss something happened afterwords.) They also test with a massive amount of bots. Performance wise they test real time and have monitoring software. They also have Alpha testers that look at things and determine things only humans can determine.
Your answers are directly tied to the gem store.
As much as your post makes sense when it comes to time & reward, visual cues, & difficulty rewards it’s all to funnel you (masses)to one place. You even point out lower tier mats not giving the feeling of a reward due to your crafting being 400+, but as you know Ascended lvl500 (BiS) uses lower tier mats.
Just take a second and visualize those 250+ items (rewards) in the gem store were added to the ingame content as rewards, would you then feel rewarded? Would you feel rewarded if all those armor sets & rng box weapons dropped from world bosses and fotm? If minis & costumes dropped from dungeons? If harvesting tools & toys dropped from PvE? If finishers & dyes dropped were rewards for PvP/WvW?
or maybe you just don’t feel rewarded because the game in the last year has giving you little to accomplish content wise to feel rewarded. Simple mechanics, rehashed holiday/festivals, southsun cove, easy world bosses, champ trains, LS zerg’n, mostly the same dungeons since release, Legends that can be bought w/RL cash, achievement hunting, and temp content.
Gw2 is probably one of the best looking mmo’s to date, has great animations, unique design philosophy, and great potential. But it’s hard to swallow knowing that if this was a sub model mmo + services like sex, race, makeover, name changes, & server transfers we would have seen an overall better quality game and content.
Yes I am aware they use lower level mats. Common mats however. Fine not really. Cooking is the exception to this.
Also my feeling on the topic was not that they should stop dropping them in game. It was more of they don’t feel rewarding. How can we make them feel rewarding. How can we make the system and drops we have now feel more rewarding. Because while I think rewards are uneven in some areas. (Feel free to discuss that I am interested on what people think on specifics there. ) I think the majority of the problem is that the game does not feel rewarding as we are not given cues that it is rewarding and the majority of things we get rewarded by happen over time as apposed to oh lookie rare drop. I also don’t think that is a bad thing that rewards happen over time. On the contrary I like it that way.
It is also to ask the players who state that they don’t feel rewarded “How do you like your loot.” Meaning do you like rewards over time. Do you like the feeling of a rare drop. Or shall there be a mixture of both.
As for the gem store. This discussion is about rewards in game if you want to talk about what/if they would drop anything from the gem store in game that is on topic
The only time I was ever excited over loot was Unidentified Dyes dropping…
If you say why they might be able to bring that feeling back for something else.
Good idea but like most of the good systems I think it needs to be behind authentication.
Remember when Precursors were 60g? Yea.
I think that is actually part of the problem when it comes to players needing more gold. 1k gold seems like a lot. However I think that many players can make 5g a day relatively easy so they should be able to afford a pre-cursor in a year if they save up.(if inflation does not run away with itself)
Perhaps that’s because so many rewards are obtained via incremental means, rather than serendipity. While there may be some amount of surprise over getting a T6 Mat drop, for instance, the mat only represents some silver from the TP or one tiny portion of an eventual item.
I honestly think that is the major problem. Really I think that is the TL;DR of my post. However I don’t want them to take that away. I have a lot of things that I would never have had due to I was able to incrementally get it.
I am still on the fence. I don’t know where I stand. I know there is a problem with feeling like I am getting rewarded at time. But if that is my problem or the games I am not sure.
