There is the rub The Market works …as a market.
The game economy is not working to benifit the players in game experience.

1. MMOs are fantastic for this, especially GW2. There is nothing I can think of in the game that players can’t decide to enter into the market for because everything in the game you can just go get, there’s no stopping you.
2. There is imperfect information, but there is significantly less imperfect information than the real world. There is also less market failures associated with imperfect information because of homogeneous goods. Homogeneous goods are one really cool thing about virtual economies.
3. This isn’t unique to MMOs or the real world, neither are the actions associated with it. It’s possible I’m missing the point on this one.
4. For this I would argue the opposite. MMOs are notorious for substitute goods. Especially when it comes to stats, I can change rarity, type, order of stats in a myriad of combinations with less than a 1% change in my total effectiveness. Switching to corn syrup causes significantly more than a 1% change in a product.

Ok i will admit from the start i am probably missing half the inforamtion in this, my skills dont involve economics or stock market trading. I just want to play a game i like.

If i read the statement another way and you mean John that “trading” in the market is open for all then yes it is however though it would appear from the many posts of people doing well there is considerable profit to be made by skilled trading that redistibution of wealth from the general population to a skilled few may mean the market is working on a strictly economic model but it is perhaps not a desired outcome on a political perspective.

4. Yes i can use a green sword or a hammer that lookes like dog dodo on a stick and still hit zombies with it so yes substitution is freely available. If this was an economy in a text book sure fine its working. Real life i acept i have a phone one generation old because i dont want to spend $1000 every six months and that is a working economy and choice.

Problem is this is a game, i dont want almost good enough, i want xxx sword not yyy which is almost good enough i want wings on my sylvari ele not a trench coat that does the same thing. The market and TP may form a perfect text book working economy but the role of both is to make the players happy and it would appear from a small random totaly unrepresentitive sample that it is failing in this.

Why the wow hostility? Because people who played gw1 and fell in love with the manifesto of GW2 see a flood of bored wow players joining the game then trying to turn it into what they left wow has this wow had that fine play wow.
Gw2 is a different game which had a different philosophy.

It baffles me how people would opt to cry nerf over very situational utility spells instead of being kitten about fotm being largely projectile based. I think the logical things to do are to be happy about guardians while staying hopeful anet spices mechanics up with future fractal releases.

What needs to happen which i dont see happening because the cries of rage would melt the forum is a reduction in the rewards from fractals. When one small component of the game is the only place to get rewards you cant lift the other 95% of the game to the same level with out breaking the economy.

I guess that is some thing for discussion but 1 a day 20 for a monthly and being able to say Ok 10 months from now i will have my precourser i can plan out all the other bits and have a goal.

Most precoursers are 500g+ now, well except for disco stu’s, a legendary 4 times that,are we caught in a cycle where Anet wants us to buy gems to finace our legedary drive, wants to nerf any way of gaining more than a copper and an old bone out of pve to kill off the bots and traps the player in the middle?

laughing and dancing on people is usually reserved for those who do well.
3 times now i have PUNKED a PRO guy and been killed by his/her 300000 friends.
Always the person that was powned laughs and dances after being revived by their buddies.
Do you know how kitten you look laughing at the guy who just kitten you.
In the future, save those emotes for when you do well. like if 4 guys jump you and you kick all 4 of their kitten laugh away tea bag em have fun.

Anyone who feels “special” with a legendary in their current state needs to ask sane people what they think.

Whenever I see a legendary in gw2, i think “gold buyer”, whereas, even in the dark regions of WoW, at least someone with a legendary has to have:
A – a supportive guild
B – the capacity to take their tongue off a frozen flagpole while in combat
C – experience in most of endgame

I look with disdain on people who have legendaries in this game because it involves zero skill, and either insanely good luck (of getting one of the “lucky” accounts with anti-dr) or a fat wallet.

Sadly right Legendary wepons are no longer a badge of achievment.

Sure there are people out ther that worked hard to get thiers but when you can get the ultimate achievment in game buy droping your credit card down it becomes about as Legendary as a fluffy hat in maple story

Sadly because he keeps running the same event tequatel has run up against the DR dissapointed by the drops, the problems with players corpses dissapering before he can loot them and the clipping problems during his fights meaning he gets back stabbed before he can breath on people, tequatel it apears is now using under map botting

Have to admit first did it not because i like JP but wanted the bow from the Karma guy, I dont normally do Jp’s loved it so much i logged over to an alt to do it again.

Tough enough to be a chalenge ( at least to JP newbs like me) but no jump at 15.6 degrees 2.8 meters or miss and have to start again bits.

J) does not use “combat mode” because it actually makes the game more difficult? I run a widow keyboard and corsair m90 mouse and spent about 8 hours tweaking my keybindings. I never have any issues with control, have seen combat mode and understands that it would make me worse, and, by the way, I speed run jumping puzzles, which I define as “holding run 95% of the way through”. I also like the way ground targeting works for a variety of reasons I won’t go into now.

I realize this may be controversial and a lot of beginners might disagree with me. However, I’m an old competitive gamer who’s spent his entire life playing games like this—all the way back to Cosmic Encounter. To give you an idea of how much I like ranger in GW2, I have 1000 hours on my ranger and haven’t even leveled another class passed 60. I am running ~20 fractals and completed my monthly dubs slayings before the first week of the month was up.

Don’t sit here and tell me rangers need this or that. You guys need to quit wasting your time with combat mode and actually get good hardware and set up keybindings. Stop going on here and trying to ruin this class for everyone that likes it. And I don’t want rangers to be able to equip staff.

Grats for being a master ranger im sure there are equivilents of other classes as well who make their class shine despite the flaws.

If a class is balanced you shouldnt have to spend 8 hours tweaking controls to be able to do well at it. If it takes god mode to make the ranger shine then yes it is broken.
Ok a lot of people have not tried hard enough before they complain but an average player should be able to play the game on an average rig and obtain a resonable standard of sucess in game.

Saying your the Lim Yo-Hwan of GW2 rangers there fore nothing need changing because you have perfected the class makes your post come across as a well written and polite version of LTP noobs

I was expecting news on how playing the game any where but a fractal would become viable. What i was not expecting was that Anets priority is to further reduce our ability to play the game. Orr with out aoe lol.

What you need is two types of dungeons
A: Where people run the dungeon

There are several dialog scenes in the game where Zaithan’s minions talk about your fallen comrade (in this case Tybalt).

There’s even one i believe with a undead commander in the open world that says it.

Being that I spend much of my time in WvW with my guild, there are many opportunities for talk and fun. But one of my characters, a huge, naked, tiger looking char always has more followers and just gets people talking. Even though I am the same person on both accounts, because one looks more fun to be around, (a naked char over a slim Sylvari, armor clad thief) everybody jokes around with one character over another. Anyone else experiencing this?

My very first experience with duelling was when I was new in WoW and was taking my fresh level 5 out for some questing, when another level 5 came in and kept spamming duel requests for 15 minutes, whispering me and shouting at me in map chat “wanna duel?” “wanna duel?” “I’ll give you 5 gold if you win” etc etc.
And no matter how many times I asked him to gtfo, he didnt stop.

It ruined me for open world duelling forever.

However, I did have fun having little duels in GW1 with my guildies in private matches in our GH, while the rest of the guild could watch us play and mock whoever lost. I would not mind seeing that again. But open world duelling where I can be spammed by any pre-teen with a godcomplex? No. Oh gods no.

It is plenty wrong. Why should players that want to use maces be punished by a “joke” weapon while players who want to use greatswords get this really awesome, or dare I say, legendary-looking weapon?

The disco ball skin belongs in the Gem Store for teh lulz, not on a Legendary.

Yup my thought as i was nearing map completion on my guardian and thought hmm better look at what else i need. It was OMG the only people that would use that are an Asura with an afro or Disco Stu.

The next big event is the Wizard of Tyria event.

Starts with singing Asura lining a yellow brick path out of Lions Arch.

Its a three part event where you have to find Traherne a brain, find Logan Thackeray’s courage and get Caithe a date.

I think i have a solution to the speed question,

Does seem some people get better badge drops than others certainly some classes more than others. As a ranger i suggest a change to help even this out.

As a corpse i am vital to your badge collection after all with out a ranger doing a dirt nap there is no badge for you.
I feel however my essential contribution is under valued a new system that would reward both the vertical and the horizontal would be equitable and help populate WvW with more than ele’s and invisible thieves
