I don’t think we need more condition removal on healing skills, it should be on a specific weapon skill or an active trait on a category of utility skills (traps for exemple).

Ranger need a heal with condition removal.

Rangers do need condition removal on a skill the can be mobile with that doesnt take all day or require you to stand in one spot.

As of right now we have no active condition removal and a heal would be a great place to sneak one in.

And @ the people saying standing in one spot is no big deal, it is in wvw/spvp where doing so could get you killed, especially with all the insane aoe.

Heal Spring can be still used as group heal/support

Suddenly all the heals is a good option depending on what you are trying to do.

Well all the heals besides Water Spirit, which has barely gotten a passing mention in this thread at all. Why hasnt anyone brainstormed a better version of that skill.

Also Why cant there just be one spirit instead of stacking everything on the pet that dies in 2 seconds.

All you need is one spirit avatar in game. You can channel each spirit skill (aura) through that one avatar and each spirit skill(aura) you activate gives the avatar increased health, so someone cant just burst down the avatar and leave you with nothing. You would have to balance the health but there wouldnt be any body blocking or clutter.

The fastest way to level in wvw is karma trains, even tho thats extra boring. i have leveled 2.5 characters through wvw and onethrough spvp (That would be the fastest and easiest)

I believe she was corrupted over time after her experience with the eternal alchemy left her exposed to the dragons corruption.

The response to this CDI seems underwhelming compared to not only previous WvW CDI’s, but also other currently active CDI’s.

I’m not being snarky, but to an extent, I think this is reflective of the lack of attention we have received as World versus World players.

Perhaps CD: Edge of the Mists is the wrong name for the CDI thread? Many may misinterpret that this CDI is about improving EOTM, as opposed to transitioning ideas/mechanics from EOTM into the regular WvW maps.

I think this might be the MOST that anet has responded in a WvW CDI so far. Compared to other CDI topics though, it is disappointing.

I think they should have a different ANET person coordinate the WvW CDI. I certainly do not mean that as disrespect to the current person. He has a ton of responsibilities and is coordinating all of the WvW activities. If you look at the balance CDI, they do not have a member of the balance team running it. They have Allie who is the community coordinator. It might be better to have someone in that type of role coordinate the CDI and then Devon could just pop in here when he has time and make comments.

I think understand what the OP is trying to get at. Basically he is saying Scarlet was the Overbearingly Super evil villain that is used to unite the world and put aside their differences.

She did that because the world would need to stand together to defeat him blah blah and she was also fighting off the corruption while trying to do this.

So maybe some of the stuff she did was of her own volition and other stuff was because of Mordawg. But in the end is going to have the two forces fight each other.

You may say why couldnt she just tell everyone about it blah blah. Because people dont stand together unless tragedy happens (Just like in real life) and so she became the tragedy to force them together.

You may say what about the pact? Well idk according to the writing they havent done much of anything until LA was attacked.

My post was meant to stat that dragon regardless weather or not dormant the dragons can still corrupt things that come into contact with their energy or presence. Any way Scarlet had problems way before she used the machine to the point she or the pale tree walled off a portion of her mind for her own safety. She started Her journey to find the answers as to what was causing her to slowly lose herself. Also when In the isolation tank scarlets could only come in contact with thing she had brought in with her the machine only directly exposed her to the walled off portion of her mind This exposed her directly to Mordremoth to the point her mind broke.

When you join the Order of Whispers for the first time and watch the cinematic after talking to everyone’s favorite apple seller, Riel Darkwater says something along the lines of “it doesn’t matter where the dragons came from or why they awoke, we just have to send them back to hell”. No one order has all the pieces of why or how the dragons awoke, to be fair. Better hope more is revealed in season 2. (though I will admit I grumbled at not being told why, kitten it guys! I wanted to know!)

Malyck isn’t exactly neutral, he’s got the qualities of loyalty the “regular” sylvari have but also has a penchant for revenge.

That doesn’t prove that he(non pale tree slyvari) isn’t a minion of mor, it just means that at the time he had none of the dragons influence working on him since it was dormant.

For the record idk where I fall on the debate of Slyvari being minions or not. There is arguments for both sides.

You cant use the fact that mordramoth was dormant to say that his corruption was not influencing the any of the syvari remember jormage was not active but yet svanir still became his champion. It was hinted though out scarlet’s background that mordremath was possessing and slowly influencing her. My gues is that Mordremoth was atro projecting himself into the dream as a nightmare and causing syvari to turn on top of other syvari influencing the nightmare even more with evil deeds while his body leaked Corruption like a evil seed that twisted the land around his resting place. Wychmire Swamp is a perfect example of this.

The thing that I didn’t like about this ending was that there was no real explanation. A lot of folks guessed she was after Mordremoth, but we still don’t know why she went to such extremes to wake him up, and how he got into her head in the first place, and what that could mean for the sylvari.

The NPCs say they’re not interested in the explanation, but that’s the exact opposite of what my character would have done in that situation. She would have let her talk, and then killed her. Every piece of information is crucial. Why put all those pieces together in the bar and then not get the answer from the sylvari’s own mouth!?

Otherwise, I’m happy to see a return to dragons, but without an explanation, a cool cinematic is just a cinematic.

Its Mordremoth for sure. Its also make total sense with the lore. Just as Sylvari as Mordremoth minions make total sense.

- Ronan a human Soldier discovered a seed in a cave guarded by plant monster. He bring it to his home destroyed by the Mursaat 250 years ago. He decided to plant it and nurse it with the help of a new friend, the Centaur Ventari. They both influenced the growing Pale Tree with Human and Centaur philosophy until the Pale Tree began to grow Sylvari.
- In GW2 we Capture the Sylvari Malyck and we bring him to a Sylvari Seer that say that he’s not born from the Pale Tree, but another tree. This Malyck is from the Nightmare Court. He claim to have no knowledge of the ’’Dream’’ and Traherne think that maybe the second tree have no dream.
- The Nightmare court is a group of Sylvari that reject the Ventari Table (AKA the Human/Centaur philosophy that Ronan and Ventari gave to the Pale Tree).

For me its all clear that these seed that Ronan found was the to create an army of Sylvari, an army of Modremoth minions. The only reasons, why some sylvari are not minions of the dragon right now is because of the Dream. The Pale tree was corrupt by the teaching of Ronan and Ventari and the Pale Tree decide to protect her children from the influence of the Dragon. The nightmare court mission is to remove the protection of the Dream so that all Sylvari fall under the influence of the Dragon.

permanently stowing pets isnt requided for aspects to work, you just need to be able to stow temporarily.

Some of you have confused this thread for a stow pet vs no stow argument.

IMO, the discussion on pets is becoming overcomplicated. Why not just redistribute the power, fix the F2 timing, and keep them as-is? The pet is not the problem if you swap it, its the pet hitting things that is a problem.

Also I am not super happy with the idea of stow buffs and even less happy with a perma stow. The pet is part of me as a Ranger, it is one of the core things of the class.

You may not be happy about permastowing. I would be absolutely. Furthermore, if you could stow your pet, you could still use it like you are used to. And people like me, who don’t want to rely on the pet can stow it. Simple as that.

As Orca pointed out, some people aren’t as fond of the pets. The idea of the buff would be to appease everyone. Also, what if stowing the pet and having an aspect gave the Ranger some kind of aura that communicated to others they are in that “aspect”? Would it still feel like the pet was a part of you if them being stowed affected your physical appearance?

If not, I don’t think the aspect idea would be a necessity for players. There are definitely things that need to be done to fix Ranger pets in general, and it’s something we are well aware of. If we fixed those things, but maybe also added in the aspect idea, I think we’d be in a spot where everyone would be pleased, no?

I like where your going with this Allie. Ranger is my first and favorite class in GW1 and 2 so I have a lot riding on these changes.

Having a different color aura like green (holographic looking effect kinda like how spirits and spirit weapons look) with fur on different body parts for bear

Blue effect with claws and tail for canines

Red effect with like fangs and some other thing for Cats

Yellow with wings and such for Birds etc..

of course it doesnt have to be the effects I listed (Your not paying me to think of cool effects and im sure the artists at Anet can come up with much better effects than me)
The main idea of the effects is a certain color for certain pet type with some physical differences with opacity so its easy to tell the difference.

This would only appear when you enter combat and when the pet is stowed. The aspects could be buffs like 20% more healing and 15% chance for 2s protection on strike (10s cd) for Feline Aspect.

if all aspects gave you like a 20% dmg boost that would be great.

it would fit the original theme of being one with nature since you would be channeling the spirit of bear and such (like the norns kinda) and using it to support yourself and all that jazz.

It would also open a little more counter play, if some on sees you in feline aspect(or using cat pets) they can switch to using posion skills to counter the extra healing and go for more burst.

You could use this until you actually fix pet AI and still use it after.

Yeah but thats one condition every few seconds, load him up with a couple stacks of different conditions and ether he runs or its GG for him. You cant spam enter stealth to get rid of them any more either.

I dont wanna call this a L2P issue because a lot of people seem to be un able to counter thieves, but if you play one for enough time you will how to counter most of them.

Put in capes and the people will come. Especially gold trimmed capes for the upper tiers.

We’re saying we won’t change direction (from the previously stated plans) because it would put many players at a disadvantage, and on top of that these players would be hurt because they listened to us.

We seriously considered many different options, and doing nothing seemed the most fair. Do you disagree? Keep in mind, more people used boosters than did not.

The mistake was the original direction/decision to remove spvp rewards with no compensation for the players. That was a crazy decision, and I’ve never heard of an mmo just wiping everyone’s crafting materials and game currency boosters. Imagine if you did that in pve, the game would just crash.

You are right though, following that decision you have little choice but to stick to your guns and just wipe all the materials and boosters I have been accumulating since launch, that I was hoping to be able to use when the reward system was improved.

They did it in fractals, wiped all their progress for a leaderboard they still haven’t produced

That’s not fair. People are providing a rather hostile environment so that Allie has to watch what she says.

Look what happened when Allie did reply: People fixated on one thing and prattled on and on about permastowing pet in favor of aspects. Now they’re fixating on her usage of “power creep”.

There are certain people here that are so fixated on their own personal goals for the class that they aren’t willing to have a proper discussion and are also preventing one.

I don’t blame Allie for not replying because whenever she does we essentially attack her without having an actual discussion. She’s also the liaison between us and the devs and unfairly takes a lot of the brunt.

That being said, this can’t be a discussion if the devs don’t ask us for feedback on the specific things they’re looking for. It’s too one-way (something more like the Fractals CDI would be wonderful). Some transparency with regards to their short-term goals for the class and what they would like to prioritize would be much appreciated. Unfortunately, I’m sure they have a lot of work themselves and there’s a ton of pages to read through here.

(I have to admit, I am also feeling disappointed. People became excited because we thought Ranger might get some much needed love, but I think Prysin is right about the devs having lost enthusiasm for this thread. This is most likely going to be as underwhelming as the underwater-buffs-patch.)

I think you completely missed my point which was she simply isnt a class designer or the guy thats gonna be in charge of fixing rangers. So at the end of the day as much as she would like to give yes or no answer or discuss changing the vision of the ranger class, she cant without having to go talk to the people with the answers.
