They don’t respond to tickets.
They have responded to every ticket I have ever turned in. So I do not know what your talking about.
Sure they do not respond to /bug reports, but help tickets that you file to report issues have always gotten a response.
Anyway, I just sent in a help ticket, and was informed that there is an issue, and they are aware of it and working on it. (odd since someone just stated they do not reply to them)………..So I was looking through the bug forums and there are a few threads on this, one was replied to with a Anet individual. Further research showed some information on this in recent patch notes, of an expanded radius as well as a supposed fix for this issue.
Make sure you put in a /bug report, or you can send in a help ticket if you need to know more about the situation.

I do not understand what anchor guard(hammer),Ranger(melee spotter) means in PvE??? What in PvE is requires a guardian to anchor down to a location and hold it? What is the ranger spotting?
These are historically PvP, terms, yet the OP specifically mentions PvE. So I have to ask.
(edited by coglin.1867)
Yeah the tool tip is wrong, despite all the time they took to work on such things.
I have taken a lot of my time to update this information in the wiki as of late. I just recently had a chance to take all of the EG skills off of the elixirs late page.
I dunno. what was the response when you filed a ticket on it?
So what if Arena finally admit the mistake of Ascended Gears and decides to reverse their decision and remove the gears entirely?
I scoff at the idea that it was a mistake. I like it. It is a little extra something to strive for, without being necessary.
K U T M is absolutely correct. We have a few that feel there are right and wrong ways to run engineer builds, but the vast majority of the community mix it up quit a bit and blend things they like between congruent builds.
To be totally honest, there are probably at least double the amount of commonly used builds then mentioned above.
One thing I am curious about in your build you linked. Why use a power based build and use a condition based turret such as flame turret?
Would you not feel better using the elixir gun for 2 more AoE heals, as well as having a stun breaker, and the damage of acid bomb? You may not agree with that, but I thought I may offer it up as a suggestion to offer some diversity. Also the fumigate skill cleanses conditions for every player in the scope of the skill for each pulse.
(edited by coglin.1867)
If you don’t run Grenades (as I do) or bombs, or any other kits as a side-arm to the Rifle, I feel that takes away a lot of the positive Engineer experiences when fighting
Well comments of this nature appear that way to me.
Granted, I know chaith was being genuinely helpful, why are we so quick to push everyone in that direction when the OP and certainly the title, were pretty clear in defining an elixir build?
Top 25 teams? How to judge them? EU teams, ESL week #5 finals – Team Eclipse – Jin, Engie (condi, p+s, rabid, bomb, nades, elixir gun, home bunker + mid support + occasional far decap). NA teams – Vision, Valor, Victory – Steamhawke, Engie (power, rifle, soldier, nades, thumper, mines, node fighter, far assaulter).
There’re many more, this by far is not a comprehensive list.
This was point exactly, he claimed there are no engineers at all in the top ranks that bunker. Hence my questions. Your post re-enforces my point by suggesting that there are.
There are not any top teams that have taken a bunker engineer for about a year now.
And as I was getting it it was claimed he is a “known troll”
That is a thread from a well-known forum troll.
As well it is contradicted in this post.
I’m not saying he’s a troll, he might be posting all that stuff genuinely after all. From what and how he posts I can see how he can be considered a troll by some people…
All I did was link a thread to an opposing opinion thread for the OP. Immediately my post was attacked with an attempt to invalidate it by insulting its OP.
This issues combined are why I asked the questions I did. To see if anyone else disagreed with the blanket comment that implied engineers are weak bunkers, when my experience plus my views of a team or two using them as bunkers, disagreed with.
(edited by coglin.1867)
Actually, you can do really well in WvW with all elixirs and no kits.
The thing is, on the engineer forums, there are so many with blinders on, that you cannot even discuss it. Its a crying shame that the OP asked for improvements on a all elixir/rifle build, and so many cram bombs/grenades down his throat.
I have yet to a single thread with a build in it, that didn’t have grenades/bombs in the build, in which multiple posters do not derail the thread completely into a bombs/grenades discussion.
2. Coated bullets, I would like seem them get rid of the pierce and make it increase the duration of all pistol conds by a 1 or 2 sec. This would make modified ammo a bit more attractive for pistol users.
I hope they never do this. The pierce is very handy. I feel they should improve on this trait, by perhaps giving static shot an extra bounce with this trait.
This trait allows the engineer to use the pistol skills to hit players out of line of site, such as when they are hiding in the merlons of the keep tops.
Yeah the complaining about legendarily is embarrassing. OMG, it takes effort to acquire one of the rarest items in the game? What lunacy is this??
Do you complain about Rolls Royce prices not dropping for your personal convenience in real life too?
Many things are useless under water. I wouldn’t generally dislike underwater play, but 3/4 of my utilities do not work under water. Most of my traits under water are invalid, because I am forced to use different skills.
Know troll by who? Where is his troll level registered? I have to ask, because I do not know him to be a troll. I mean, for all we know, he stole your girlfriend in high school and your holding a grudge.
As well, you do have a history of making claims about what “top” teams do that prove to be inaccurate. If your that in tune with what the top teams do, I am curious, how many of the top 25 teams have engineer? Who officially ranks these teams in the top 25? What roles do their engies play?
Rifle #1: Lowest damage of a 2 handed 3/4sec cast weapon.
Wait, what????
You mean the longest range 2h weapon does less damage the the melee 2h weapon? Why that is preposterous. What insanity is this, that weapons with the greatest risk offer more reward???? One would almost think this could become a reoccurring pattern in which you were rewarded with more damage when required to risk more by being in melee range, while doing slightly less damage for being at max range with more mobility.
Boring appearance and doesn’t relate to any of the weapon’s other skills
Well that is a matter of opinion, and honestly, I feel yours is a terrible one. I feel Hunter, Grinning Gorde Gun, and Charzooka, are prime examples of awesome looking rifles.
Two words
Duel Crossbows.
Am i wrong?
Yes, yes you are.
I feel the OP is being foolishly narrow in their outlook. I have entirely too much success on other professions to agree with the OPs point.
This thread seems to have an opposing opinion of the OPs perspective.

You do not feel slick shoes are easily countered?
I had another engineer use SS when I was attacking with bombs the other day, I literally had to do nothing but step back. If you do not physically move across the path of someone oil slick, it is counters. Stun breaker, they are countered. Stability, countered. SS are very easy to counter. I am not saying they are a bad skill. but for having a 60s cool down and taking up a full utility slot, and having no more control then other skills on a much lower cool down is where it is an issue.
In my eyes,
PBR is pretty solid in value in relation to its CD.
Throw mine is in a good place with is function and CD.
Slick Shoe’s has a solid tool belt skill with a stun breaker on a comparable CD to other stun breaker skills. The utility skill though, is too easily countered for a 60s CD. I personally feel it should be halved to 30s.
Utility goggles, well, I don’t care much for it. The stun breaker is okay, but we already have a gadget stun breaker in slick shoes. The blind immunity seems pointless to me because I do not see anyone wanting to burn a stun breaker just for blind immunity. Personally, I feel this is where gadgets could use a cleanse. I suggest a removal of the stun breaker, while moving the vulnerability from the tool belt(analyze) to the utility ability slot so that it offers furry as it does now plus the vulnerability. I feel the 40s cool down will then be justified with 10s of fury and vulnerability. The I would propose changing analyze to a skill called “gas mask” on the tool belt. Give it a 25s cool down to remove 3 conditions similar to elementalist magnetic wave skill (also on a 25s CD).
stabillity, not this sad joke of a throwing elixir stabillity without stunbreake, lol a real usuable access to stabillity. Its almost unplayable without, there is just to much stunlocking around waaay to much.
Hard to grasp what your saying through the sarcastic cynicism here. I think your simply suggesting that our stability skill should be a stun breaker, is that accurate? If so, I fully agree. Aren’t al of the other stability skills on other professions, stun breakers?
As far as stun locking, I don’t honestly have much trouble with it. Only time it becomes and issues is 1v4 or 1v5 situation, in which case I expect to have more CC then I can dodge or cleanse.
I have no specific profession that is easier to kill then another. How a player is speced, and how they play is what makes the difference. Profession is irrelevant, to me, capability and, traits, and utilities effect the fight to me, more then anything.
welcome to the world of Engi’s where the only way to do decent DPS is with large stacks of might!
That is a pretty much just hyperbole. Engineers do comparable damage with 0 might as other professions do with 0 might. As well, they do comparable damage at 25 stacks of might as other professions at the same stacks. Pistols explosive shot is weak, flame thrower’s flame jet is weak, both of which are auto attacks, otherwise, most of the skills we have are not bad at all for damage.
Ever heard anyone in PvE say : “What we could really use now is an Engineer?”
Until that happens, Mesmer will be the more desired class, if only these two are being compared across multiple game formats.
Engineer and Ranger are in the same boat when it comes to desirability.
Yeah but, I never hear any of these either………
“What we could really use now is an thief?”
“What we could really use now is an ranger?”
“What we could really use now is an elementalist?”
“What we could really use now is an necromancer?”
“What we could really use now is an warrior?”It just is what it is, mesmers and guardians simply have some extremely handy utility in a select few skills. Nothing you cannot live without, but extremely handy indeed
Then you should play GW2, cause I have heard most of these numerous times, including Thief. Go figure. I also have heard “What we could use are rangers”, obviously you must be playing D3?
You may here them, no need to insult me because I do not.
No need for the snide comments eithr. Particularly if they make little since. I am on a GW2 forums, its foolish to assume I do not play the game, simply because I do not experience what you do. By the way, what is D3???
For example, if we do not naturally acquire a thief when forming a group for a dungeon run in Arah, I use the smoke bomb and stack my blast finishers, then viola, we pas the mobs as well as if we had shadow refuge. The engineer may not be the best as everything, but we are darn good at very many things. As well, I run a build with great utility, and can do a little teak to fit what we need Need a lot of stealth, I got it. Need stability, I got it. Need might, I can stack it. Need vulnerability, I can stack it. Need damage, I can dish it out. Need condition removal, I can clean it up.
I guess they never read it. This is not a discussion thread it is a thread: we have a patch ready this are the patch notes. Take it, we do not change it.
Due to the fact that the patch notes changed 6 times based on our feedback, I do not understand why your making false statements. Particularly since the fact that they responded to post in this thread. The facts completely contradict your statement.
I do not understand the logic in having nothing to strive for in one class over another.
I have my ascended jewelry(6 sets I think), I have my ascended weapons, I strive to have fun with my friends and guildies. I enjoy some PvE, a bit more PvP, and a great deal of WvW.
I do not strive to have fun. It just happens. If it didn’t, I wouldn’t be here. If your not having fun on your engineer, then play the profession you have fun on.
I also agree with the comments made about adjusting the underused and lacking utility skills.
The gadgets are what actually original drew me to the engineer in the betas. The have such great potential, but they are not meeting that potential. They did really good work with rocket boots and PBR for the most part, but slick shoes is so easily countered, that the loooong CD is so painful. Personally, I find utility goggles to be very situation. Neither of the latter 2 are very appealing at all in their current with the exception of the stun breakers that were added to them.
Such an articulate question.
I feel the engineer thrives in my PvP experiences.
Engineer has so many skills for groups though?
Yes, but most people are ignorant when it comes to the engineer. Even a good many who play them for a period of time even fail to learn how to use it to the full benefit of the group.
So we have another thread with a lot of
“I have played a lot and did not get one of the rarest drops in the game” threads. So what? I work hard at my job every day, and I haven’t won the lottery either.
Get over it.
Disease is a pretty common MMO DoT. I can go with that.
Barbs seems redundant to either confusion or retaliation.
Fragility seems a bit like a waste to me. Seems to be it would be simpler to just add a bit of direct damage to skills that apply conditions. I just can’t swallow this one.
Frankly, I do not see a need to clutter the list of conditions further to be honest. We need another condition, like we need another currency in the game.
I do not know a single person who has not been turned off by this issue when they play an engineer.
They really need to implement a solution.
Ever heard anyone in PvE say : “What we could really use now is an Engineer?”
Until that happens, Mesmer will be the more desired class, if only these two are being compared across multiple game formats.
Engineer and Ranger are in the same boat when it comes to desirability.

It just is what it is, mesmers and guardians simply have some extremely handy utility in a select few skills. Nothing you cannot live without, but extremely handy indeed
To be fair, it is not a mater of “Not every rune should cater to every class”, it is a matter of one and only one profession being solely excluded. More over, being excluded from one of only three rune sets that reduce condition damage. I have builds I like and that work well, thus, I will never really care much about this particular issue, but I completely understand why it agitates many others.
There are simply entirely too many cases in which the engineer is punished for its originality. This is one, the fact that weapons damage does not effect kits, thus minimizing the value of ascended weapon a vast amount, is another.
(edited by coglin.1867)
I thought you could only stack 12 of stealth, and that the only thing that can break that cap is shadow refuge? Am I mistaken?
I call shenanigans, I need some evidence to your claim. I play a hammer/greatsword guardian occasionally, and in Pure P/V/T gear, with no stats on either, the guardian does not out damage my bomb kit.
I like ranged more than melee classes (on the contrary I had a lot of fun on guardian but I just want to try something else), and I remember being excited about engineer but got disappointed at really low dps. some of it was probably a l2p issue but I heard i wasn’t alone with it. Also remember someone saying there’s just like 1-2 viable spec.
Nah the engineer is good damage, but you have so many traits that are kit specific, and kits themselves, it gets confusing when your new. I will offer a suggestion though, when someone uses “viable” and “specs” in the same sentence, begin questioning anything they say. I have had clowns on profession specific forums tell me a build I linked isn’t viable just after I solo lupi with it. In my experience, there are very many solid builds for each profession, and there are very many players with a limited scope screaming all over the forums how they all only have 1-2 viable specs.
When you have a profession you like, Get advice on builds, but do not lock yourself in to a suggested builds with out tweaking it, testing it, and playing with it, to find what feels right to you.
Step 1: Play condition specced character.
Step 2: Realise conditions aren’t OP.
Step 3: Go back to whatever class/spec you prefer.
Good luck out there.
Yeah, conditions were under powered for so long, now that they are only slightly below direct damage, its like it part of the complainers meta to focus on complaining they are OP.
You have professions that can do thousands of direct damage in literally one attack, but you want to focus a complaint about a situation that does thousands of damage over time and can be cleansed.
(edited by coglin.1867)
For dungeons/world bosses go Zerker(mix in some Vit/Toughness if you like) though, condi damage is pretty meh against bosses.
Why would you say that when this is a discussion on condition builds? The title is pretty clear. disregard this and use rabid in dungeons, it is solid damage gear for a condition focus.
I enjoy this build for roaming, I find it works well for the times I have 2 or 3 adversaries.
If you play around a trait that may explain why you have problems. The rest of us are wise enough not to “assume” we are supposed to “spam” bombs simply because we have a trait that allows them to heal.
To suggest this trait focus’s you to do nothing but play to the trait isn’t something most players do. so you point, is well, pointless.
What is the point in your post? Most people build around bombs only if they focus on healing bombs. And I am preaty sure the spam only bombs. Anyway, if you don’t why wasting 30 points if you can outplay yourself by just placing super-elixir? If you are wise enough…
The point to my post, is that this trait is a solid trait that benefits bomb builds. I do not feel it is a trait to make builds around. It is not wise to play your profession around a trait, you trait to accentuate how you play.
For the record, you the one calling it “wasting 30 points” . I on the other hand feel 300 toughness is never a waste. As well I do not feel 300 healing power is a complete waste when you are getting a trait that makes the kit you are already using for damage, defensive blinds, CC, to heal a bit as well.
You on the other hand, are suggesting playing only for the trait. I do not feel that is wise. You make a bomb build to use bombs for, as was mentioned, damage, CC, and defensive blinds. You do not use bombs to be a trinity healer as your suggesting.
If you feel it is a “waste of 30 points”, as you said, then do not use it.
When you look at how many kit skills and how many of our weapons skills are extremely dependent upon conditions, it doesn’t make much sense to have to make the 20 point investment for this skill.
Reinforced Shield This should be adept tier.
Not gonna happen, he stated in the Dec. 10th elementalist discussion that they don’t like having recharge-reduction at the adept tier.
Warrior’s Shield Mastery is adept., and also given that most specs are in a kit most of the time, it only makes sense to have it as adept, it’s a balancing act.
Hair trigger says hello. It is the CD reducing trait for pistol, rifle, and harpoon gun, and has been an adept trait since release.
A good guardian wont let you see his telegraph, or wait for you to dodge twice, and time his knockback. We could argue till the sun comes down, the point is, Self-CC is silly, and shouldnt exist.
Guardian talk aside, I really really want to agree with you, but too many people argued for a root on hundred blades, and it was implemented. To be fair, I feel there is a heck of a lot of difference between the two skills. I certainly do not care much about the hundred blades root, but I thought it was somewhat relevant here. I can completely getting behind changing overcharge shot, and after enough noise was made, they ruined, er um, I mean changed rocket boots.
(edited by coglin.1867)
Not saying your suggestions are bad, but the concepts seems entirely too asuran to me, when engineer technology is supposed to be based on charr.
To sum up some of my previous complaints, there is a lot of Charr technology involved with Engineers as a whole, but no representation from the Asura. As an Asuran Engineer, I have a problem with that. Thus I have created the idea of “Golemtech”, the fusion of Engineer & Golemancy, for use by innovative and intelligent Engineers, Tyria over!
gg
Before you make your non contributing rude comment there RaynStargaze, perhaps you should understand that Asuran technology utilizes miscellaneous magic. Engineer lore states that they stand against magic and thus shun it. So yes, “gg” to me for comprehending why it is this way, and making a post of my opinion in conjunction to lore in relation to the OP.
Or as was said
:) Don’t be a jerk.
(edited by coglin.1867)
This topic about qq thief op or you blind? Almost every single post consists “thief” word.
Clearly I am blind. I am using a braille keyboard to type my post. What to know something else, I can speak Braille too.
As I said before, if you dislike this threads location, report it, don’t cry about it.
As well, like it or not, mentioning of thieves or not, stealth is and can be done by other professions, so they are not necessarily linked. I apologize if this offends your delicate sensibilities.
Either the stacking needs to be removed or immobilise needs to be cleared by stun breakers just like Fear is, to prevent the ridiculous situation shown in the video above.
Honestly, immobilize really does need to be removes by stun breakers. At least I feel they should.
Yeah I hate when players troll and then run to those small areas of invulnerability. They really need a report feature for players using physical exploits in game.
I am all for ele’s having a second weapon slot, as long as we remove their ability swap atunements.
If this is what you think about in there, then you need to find a better bar.
Personally my problem with stealth is that it removes the consequences for thieves. Here is how it usually goes for me.
Some random thief stealth’s then uses steal to shadow step too me. I use my stun block and we skirmish, at some point I am down to about 80%-70% health and the thief is at 20%-10% health, they stealth and run away. They may even shadow me and try it again a few times. About half the time I kill them out right, but all of the ones that attack me then get away annoy me, because once they get stealth, there isn’t a lot I can do. This mechanic gives bad players the ability to live when they do not deserve to do so.
In spite of how many times these hate-stealth threads show up, and in spite of the fact that just about every survey ever taken on these forums list thieves as one of the least useful classes in a group environment (which covers a very large portion of GW2), these threads do serve kind of a valuable purpose. They identify which players don’t really know what they’re doing and instead mistake “irritating” for “overpowered.”
Actually a thieves individual ability to stealth, and their usefulness in group are two very unrelated topics. I find good thieves valuable with their stealth though. Great for stomps, great for reviving or getting downed players up.

Hmm, what will everyone blame now when they die in WvW?
I tried these for a few nights, and I never understood all the hubbub, and swapped them out for what I was originally using, and I never seem to notice them being used against me.
Are you making any other rune changes, either nerfs or buffs, Jon???
