Wouldn’t care much if they nerfed leash range.
I wouldn’t introduce a minimum rank but I would absolutely introduce quitter penalties. LIke double MMR loss and a time out on quing for a while. That gets longer the more frequently you quit.
For gods sake next time take up the subject of penalties for leavers. I have had leavers FOUR matchs in a row now.

Hard to do as people move in and out all the time in hotjoin, matchs would quickly become unbalanced.
One of the many issues with hotjoins, but are almost grandfathered in and hard to fix.
The boards are volatile, but as someone who pays frequent attention to them, the top 50 positions are dominated by eles and guards. Guards though, are on every team, so are going to end up on top. No other class has had as much representation as the ele consistently other than guards. Not only that but if you look at threads on the spvp forum the community consensus is ele is the strongest. And I have heard ostrich eggs, caed, team paradigm EU , on there stream all complain about ele strength. The high end consensus is that ele is too strong.
Granted leaderboards are volatile BUT as of this posting 3 of the top 5 are ele’s. including a guardian main and a ranger as the other 2.
don’t what? bring into the line the class that has ruled spvp for 5+months. with constant complains for tourney players, and an overwhelming consensus that they are the strongest class.

I got no issue with ele’s. Some of my best friends are ele’s lol.
But I mean lets see how things play out, u can be sure this isn’t the final gamestat. And if eles end up a little underpowered for a while, well other classes have been dealing with that for months.

Anet keeps balancing a class by taking the most defensive spec available for the class as only reference lol … So they will continue to nerf our most defensive Build until it can be killed in 1v1. Guess what happens to more offensive builds then
No sure of problem, offensive builds are supposed to not have much survivability. Look at the thief, has literally no sustain and can die in like 2 hits.
It remains to be seen how the ele fairs, but having seen eles been on top for 5+months, it wont be the worst thing to have something else on top for a while. Someones always going to occupy that spot. If eles are too weak, they will get some compensation down the line.
Its still 20 seconds if u hit someone. Honestly, lets try it out, eles have been on top for 5 months, it wont kill you to feel what it was like being another class for a bit.
You want to come away from a SoTG knowing something that wasn’t pretty much 100% known already.
This sotg gave us ACTUAL information. So, it was useful. How will these changes fall out? ITs hard to say but it looks like for the first time in 5 m onths the meta might actually change.
Rank has nothing to do with rating. Someone whos rank 10 could have a higher rating than someone whos rank 40.
having said that, theres likely to be an overall weak correlation , as allt he top players certainly are all high rank.
And rank 10 might have been getting carried lucky for a few matchs, while a rank 40 losing a few, they meet in the middle in terms of mmr, but are no where near in terms of skill.

Wow, the class that is the strongest in the game, and has been the strongest for 5 months in a row and DOMINATES most of the top positions on the leaderboards, is getting a nerf.

The message is clear from Anet. Play thief or warrior, or quit. The two most OP faceroll classes are getting buffed, but the all the ones that needed serious buffs in certain areas are getting nerfs in their few actually useful abilities. Do they have a lobotamized monkey working on balancing this game?
There are 3 thiefs in the top 50 leaderboards. 0 warriors. And over 15 eles. Eles dominate spvp. And have for 5 months, easily the strongest class in the game. Ask anyone who actually plays at the top of the leaderboards. Or watch streams of said top players.
Warriors are right now the WEAKEST class in spvp. Idk maybe you only do hotjoin. But in real tournaments where premades and class distrubtion happens, warriors are balls in spvp. Though admitably they are strong in pve.
Thiefs are kinda subpar, but useful for specific purposes. But, as someone who mains engies and has 2k tournaments. ITs not thiefs or warriors that I worry about.
First you don’t know how hard the nerfs will hit.
its worth remembering guys, eles have been the overall strongest class in SPVP for going on 5 months now. That’s a LOONG time at the top of the food chain. Real change was needed.
Its the exact same if you hit a target. It can still be used to disengage mid fight. Only issue is for general roaming, still good if you at mid bo and want to get to a side point, you just wont be able to RTL out right away.
I don’t think the patch has come out yet.

Just had a 3on5 solo Q. Seriously please introduce a penalty for leavers. Its got to get better.
Most annoying thing about fighting an ele is getting them to 10% watching them disengage and come back a moment later full life, something no other class can do.
I don’t believe at once that “Thieves kind of stink in SPVP” in fact this class excels at spvp, wvw and pvp. I encourage Arenanet not to into this trap.

I’m not expecting you to carry the supposed constant “noob teams” you keep getting; i’m saying over enough games (thus increasing your sample size) the teams you get will tend closer to an average level expected at which point, it will be you, the changing variable that will determine whether you win or not. I’m sick of people saying you’re getting bad teams constantly; everyone who solo q’s does, including me. I myself solo q regularly with over 300 games played (r778 atm) and have several friends who have rankings as high as the 4xx’s who purely solo que.
This will be more true when they separate solo Q and team Q. Facing premades 3 or 4 times in a row is frustrating. I mostly solo Q also, but as my mmr rises I run into more and more premades. Also , some classes might turn out to be better at carrying than others. (imo eles/bunker gaurds will be expressed more at the top of a solo q ladder-in the current state of the meta). So , other than how some classes do at carrying, and the fact that teamq/soloq are currently lumped together. Other than that, yes , over a large sample size, how you are doing will get some reasonable expression.

You cant say deathmatch is wanted more. till its out there, people try it out, and actually do or don’t like it. its possible that people want deathmatch in theory but , if it actually went live would quickly find themselves not in love with it.
It is nearly impossible to win much more than 50% of the time solo quing. in part bc you fight premades, but also just because of the fact that you get frequently get 4on5s. Etc etc.
If they get a proper solo q, eventually you’ll drift upwards if you can win more than half the time. But this isn’t league of legends, where one can buy gear and carry. Its basically impossible to win a 2vs1 against anybody even in the ballpark of same skill. So one will never have a great win ratio solo quing. Some classes especially will have trouble carrying (imo ele going to be the top solo Q class). But overall good players will trend upwards.
Class has almost disappeared. Where you really rarely see them is on premade teams, or the higher end of the ladder.
Doesn’t matter, and you don’t need to guest there. sPvP is regional. Only the mists staging area is on your home server.
This is correct. If someone on Anvil Rock hosts a custom arena, it will display for everyone.

that’s correct EU/Na are separate. But the Custom arenas are universal through all Hotm’s from every regional server . (region being eu/na).
In many ways it will be like current hotjoins.
It counts as a loss on your rating. It will start counting as a loss by the next patch. April 30th at the latest.
Yeah, but that doesn’t discourage players from leaving if they see a losing match (that can actually be turned around). Something additional to that one loss needs to be done.
they need to set it up like dota where if you leave a match or dc you have 5 min to get back in or risk a penalty of low priority match que and lose out on the ability to gain rank glory and items
Excellent idea. Ban on earning glory for 1 hour. it has 0 mechanical effect on the player, but still counts as a penalty of sorts.
Hotjoins are a huge issue. They should have made people q for actual matchs from the start. Now that’s going to be hard to implement.

It’s not the classes that need to be buffed or nerfed, it’s certain builds.
They have nerfed thiefs, mesmers and rangers.
They have nerfed eles (though not sufficiently)
And yes everyone just refers to nerf engies as nerf hgh. People do understand that turret engies aren’t the OPness.
Thiefs are viable, in fact some of the top players on leaderboards are thiefs. But they are not disproportionally represented. In fact a little under represented.
Thiefs are probably a little on the weak side, but only a tad, I think the main thief spec. (assassins signet backstab) is not in need of a buff. they just need more ways to play.

Also in teamfights. CC , if elixir s is down they are very vunerable to thief burst.
Another variable is your teammates. Sometims a really high rated person gets paired with a low ranked person, vs a bunch of mid ranked people. This means your team mmr might be fairly high even if yours individually is low.
This is bad because unlike in Lol you cant gear out and carry. generally a bunch of averagish players will beat a mix of good and bad players.
Its so easy to exploit whatever point the newer player is watching and just take it over and over, the good player cant be everywhere at once.
I have a question for the community. I don’t know how the hgh build works. Is it considered OP, or merely “strong in a balanced way”?
borderline. Its very strong, but unlike ele its not universally strong meta, it has a few weaknesses.
But it might need a tad bit of toning down.
once you understand thiefs its not a big deal. first off you cant cap /hold a point in stealth, so honeslty I don’t find it troublesome.
If anything thiefs are a lil underpowered in spvp-certainly not OP.
So, nope don’t really consider an issue. Now if you gave a self stealth to eles, that would be op

Particularly glad to hear about #14 , I really want to be able to swap back and forth between specs and gear instantly.
Anything can beat hgh in 1on1, but also vice versa. Very few things can beat anything in 1on1 if they play right, hgh can. However, it can lose to a lot of things as well, where some match ups (assuming equalish player skill) are pretty much fordrawn conclusions.
You can`t 1V1 a really good Bunker player in a reasonable amount of time even with HgH. Fortunately players are bad and stand in grenade spam, dodge roll spam pointless stuff and then get hit by blowtorch.
I`ve seen Ostricheggs get outlasted and get knocked off node (and decapped) by 1 Ele (Zerrex/xerrex?whatever).
Most people play terrible as always. So the QQ will continue.
I played vs 5 Guards the other day (suffice to say we won that but not because i killed all dem guards so fast..) and the retaliation damage of just 1 nade throw is massive.
yeah standing in that grenade spam those bad players standing in a little circle due to the game mode we call conquest they should L2P honestly
seriously though HGH is pretty op right now i have nothing against the build personally its a fun spec but when teams of bad are getting carried due to them stacking 2-3 of them its just plain absurd, forcing you stack classes that counter them like necro’s, mesmers etc…
at least you get that mesmers and necros are good counters to hgh. A lot of ppl don’t know how to utilize these classes to make trouble for em .
Ele stacking teams have been around for 5 months, nothings been done about them so far. And ele stacking > engy stacking.
Rangers have seen a series of nerfs that make them laughable. Empathic bond’s fix and the quickness nerf, mainly. Their power in 1v1s used to lie in the fact that they could outlive opponents between massive numbers of dodges and near invulnerability to conditions with a massive over time heal. Their power in teamfights relied solely on AoE condis (protip: engis do it better) and quickness rez’s/stomps. Traps are too predictable and easy to dodge.
Mesmers are just plain weak against good players in 1v1s and have seen themselves fall into a support role. Shatter combos are predictable. Clones are cleaved down in team fights forcing mesmers to blow mirror images (usually their only stun break) to dish out damage. IOL, time warp, distortion stomping and portal seem to be their only real benefit to the team. Time warp has been nerfed from the anus tightening team killer it used to be to a relatively minor factor. Oh, and they have no condi cleanses. If I land two shrapnels a mesmer is dead unless his team cleanses him. They can dish out scary damage, but they do so at a huge risk of being focused down in the blink of an eye.
Gotta kinda disagree, rangers took a hard hit but are not laugable. Im seeing some new rangers running unusual specs quite effectively. Theres 1 spec in particular that I rarely see but I think its quite effective in the right team comp. But rangers are still DECENT. 1 thing that has hit rangers is hgh engies, who are way better in teamfights usually.
Mesmers, happen to be a pretty decent counter to engies ( and vice versa I know). But it keeps them relevant.
Necros might get stronger in the meta not bc of how overall good they are but bc boon stripping just got more relevant.
However, people who think mesmers are on top of power curve or that rangers are still godly, need to get w the times.

If you had a spvp component I would compete. Regretfully I don’t pve much so I don’t have the best gear, or experience in the instances to top that stuff.
Give me pvp though and ill shine.

What im saying is that the high win ratio of Solo quers WONT translate into GW2 . its clear that a solo Q will correlate more highly with skill ( and class balance expression) than what we have now.
I think you will see mostly eles and guardian bunkers, are they are probably the classes that can make the most difference in a solo Q environment. having said that, some classes might be weak at carry but very strong in organized team games, like a necro, or possibly a Mesmer.
Not to mention theres a split second there for you to fast cleanse the immob and dodge. Especially if you don’t get stunned/have stun break.
In teamfight, or 1on1. 1on1 they are vunerable to necros who run boon hate. And mesmers who are clever about dodging grens/using inv to avoid confusion or blowtorch.
In teamfights they are vunerable to CC and need to be pressured, other than a well necro probably have to be top priority in teamfight.
Some tips.
1. The Mesmer clones wont have the offhand weapon-ie. the pistol etc. The graphic for this is missing.
2. the Mesmer clones don’t do things like move backwards, and ALL have a type of behavior based on the type of clone they are. If they are not doing that type of behavior, they are the real Mesmer.
3. Buffs and more importantly conditions. If you manage to land conditions on a Mesmer, they are not good at cleansing them so look for the Mesmer with the most conditions. boons also can be a giveaway, Often the vigor buff is a dead giveaway.
4. learn to dodge the sword 3 immobilize, because this is usually the precursor to them shattering. Makes fighting mesmers much easier.
5. Duel a Mesmer if u can, helps a lot.
for me I started cracking the Mesmer code most times fast around mid 20’s. In a team fight can be more complicated. 1on1, I can usually identify the real Mesmer in a second or 2.
