Unique means unique.
Never seen one on my server, making money is pretty easy
Also necros have a trait where blind grants chill, and 1 sec means you have to time it.
My necro is awesome fun, though I use wells and spectral abilities.
If you have no synergy you are not thinking very much, I’ve managed to make a heavy chill and condition build and i’ve only just got level 30.
Maybe minions are not your playstyle – though all minions in gw2 have bad ai, best to just avoid them in general til they are fixed.
Try going into spvp to test your abilities with all 70 trait points and all skills available.
Always a good idea to have an extra weapon for building stacks so you can switch a weapon with a bonus that works all the time once you have the stacks.
Dailies rewarding laurels are wrong for another reason. They create an “artificial ceiling” for those who can spare more time for playing. It may not affect casuals spending an hour a day, but it limits those willing to put a greater effort for greater rewards.
DR work in a similar way, but I believe their concept was better designed. The more time you spend on an acitivty, the lesser the rewards will be. But there is nothing that stops you from repeating an activity for more rewards. No artificial ceiling, no restriction like only a single laurel a day.
tl;dr New dailies give everyone the same rewards no matter the effort they put. Is it good? Perhaps yes, but only for those who put little effort and play only to complete their dailies. Not really for anyone else.
If you want to put more effort in, you get the laurel items the proper way – in fractals and guild events.
Laurels from dailies are the lowest denominator so you are guaranteed to get the item eventually. It’s not the way you’re supposed to get them.
Kinda wish there were optional hard routes in dungeons that dropped the dungeon gear sets, so you had that option instead of purely repeating (though I do love the token system)
Best to just find a guild and do it with them.
if you want some extra levels you can always craft / wvw
Just use your money to buy ectos, they go up in value :P
dungeons should take more than 6 minutes – how anyone could possibly think cof1 is intended is insane :p
Ruby gems.
You should probably say what you want to do in pve / dungeons.
I stick to my guts that Staff is very, very underpowered. With my DD Ele I deal ~5k Churnning earth, while my MS barely deals 1.5k~, with ~2,5k on crits. Sup? I have 3k epower and 90% Crit damage.
1200 range, use it.
Boonhate as a trait is ok, you have to give up something else to get it, so it’ll mix up the builds, maybe it’ll be something only condition warriors can get? Who knows.
I’m always looking forward to seeing the meta get mixed up.
And wrangler, just because the most effective ele spec is the most mobile doesn’t mean other classes can’t spec for similar or greater mobility. They will just lose some effectiveness in combat.
kicked in the newts.. haha genius Thrash.
I’m looking forward to the double buffed banners, might be worth taking them over shouts :o
Ele can cripple on all attacks with the Glyph at least, and protection+regen kinda makes up the armour and hp difference.
The “boon-hate” traits are going to be interesting… I already run signet of nullification on my ele, and it’s pretty nice.
Twitch is the biggest gaming streaming site out there, opposite of obscure :p If you’re on forums (already in the top 10% of players interacting) it’s not much to go one step further if you’re interesting :p
On topic, A water beam would be awesome, all 4 staff 1 skills are a bit too similar, with the chain lightning being the most interesting, effect wise.
Adding a beam that allows a little healing on ranged people too along with a new and interesting looking mechanic (that doesn’t exist on any other staff skill in the game) would be awesome. We already have the animation for it with the air staff 2 blind :p (at least on my asura)
Scepter attacks becoming beams would be a very nice buff for an underused weapon though i’d be careful, kinda makes a big “ATTACK HERE” sign :p
Thi said the standard boon build, go use it.
Aren’t boons also (possibly) taking a hit? Won’t that affect bunker builds?
The level syncing is the huge gamebreaker for me in every other game. Just can’t play if I can’t group with my friends at any time :p
Also dodge rolling/blocking/some kind of active defence not tied to stats. Also HATE getting “miss” if my spell hits it should hit :p
Been using mice for years, never had the clicking function break. Don’t worry about it.
http://www.gw2spidy.com for links to everything
If you played ele first (I did too) everything else will be snore inducingly boring. Except maybe kit engineer (my favourite alt)
Just the nature of the simplicity of the other classes I suppose.
Stealth mechanics were changed so that mobs would stay leashed to you so stealthing wouldn’t reset mobs.
Better to ask than not to, insulting or not, that’s just the price of playing rangers in every game. Always the most faceroll class. :P
Anet said an average of 90 mins per level so you are not going slowly at all. That said, events events events, such fast exp.
It’s why wvw can level you really fast. Doing events that are scaled up by multiple people (another reason to go with a guild group) will also net much more xp due to more mobs.
If you use the mouse to move you are probably best served by placing the mouse in the middle, then smartcast works like a crosshair would in an action mmo :p
Use smart cast (its in the options) then you just have to point at your target with your mouse and click the skill.
It might seem a pain at first (it was when I started using it) but now it’s amazing for aiming stuff
Those triggerable runes are very interesting, on my ele I often use my heal to activate Altruism (3 might stacks for group) instead of healing myself. I like that choice.
What you’re asking for is a massive amount of repeatable game content that is good enough to make you log on again and again. That’s the MMO nirvana. Until then we have to make do with some sort of character advancement to keep us interested.
Well it’s called a sandbox mmo, but people tend to lack the imagination to set their own goals. And devs tend to not give people tools to make their own content.
I’d only want a fully underwater map if anet finally added all the skills to underwater combat, some just make no sense to be left out.
If my engi can use her kits fine underwater, why can’t other classes at least try to use their straight-firing abilities. My super elixir only works if aimed at a solid surface, but I think that’s interesting for positioning.
Don’t you love economics?
Money chasing money and producing nothing. No actual productive contribution to the gaming experience. Buy low and sell high.
Sometimes I wonder how the human race even got this far.
One reason I prefer barter economy like in PoE, having the currency itself be something you can use rather than just a trading medium is interesting :P
Ah if you delete all your characters you can get a new home server (since transfer costs only apply to moving characters)
hope that helped
more eles, more awesome, having so many fields and finishers is a delicious combo feast xD
Though I think warriors get more finishers, ele + anything = fun times.
Well both warriors and guardians are very good classes, though you can spec most classes to be heavy defence, my ele tanks dungeons just fine, same with my engi – and they aren’t even full tank spec.
The heavy armour classes are very forgiving if you mess up though.
What kind of playstyle would you prefer anyway ?
Mesmer seems complicated, but it’s faceroll compared to ele/engi :p
MF is basically like playing on hard mode, you lose damage and survivability, and the mf just about makes up for your slower killing rate.
You could ask your guild to invite you I suppose, we’ve done explorables with lower levels (not that low mind) but with a lot of effort and skill you can be useful, even with less damage all your negative effects will still work fine, so you could specialise in knockdown/blind/cripple mobs :p
You can’t do CoF p1 though, since there’s a room where everyone has to split up and solo a bunch of mobs to get through. It’s a nice room
hehe yep 70, though respeccing is quite cheap, the main issue is generally regearing, but if you have a beginner set of Power Vitality Toughness gear that works for basically everything while you’re learning.
speccing into Condition damage is generally not the best idea for eles until you know the class deeply :p
Hope you have fun, I enjoy elementalist a great deal message me if you ever want any kind of advice
I don’t see why they didn’t come play with you since the levels downscale I always go to any guildy’s location when they come on.
Was the main reason I enjoyed gw2. I feel your pain though, many of my friends rushed to max and farmed themselves to death before I even made 80.
Best idea is to join a guild, everyone is recruiting at the moment. There should be one with like-minded people Good luck
Glad to hear you’re having fun, really is an awesome feeling class
I feel incredibly powerful, though not in damage but in influence on the battle :p
I was wondering this very same thing, give us auramancers something more for underwater auras please
Yeah every elemental is now some kind of creature, I like that the lightning one is in line now :P
Thanks for the GoEP tip, i’ll definitely try that again with staff, it didn’t really work very well for me , was unsure about its effects.
I’ve been trying to use lightning hammer in my build. It’s ok, but sometimes it doesn’t feel very useful.
It’s a pain to activate because it has a ground targeting reticle and it has a cast time.
It seems like it could use something, perhaps they should scrap the concept of dropping them for other and increase the charges and remove the cast time.
Use smartcast. I love conjuring them for others, they really do great things when combined with quickness.
I play because I have fun with my friends.
Just use the skill a few times jeez. I agree with Vayne.
Still hoping for the option to turn the damage numbers off :/
I would love a choice of either, I play asura and charr and the armour skins rarely look nice
Would be nice if there was a coat slot as well as chest, so you could hide shoulders/coat/head depending on how you wanted your character to look.
Ascended should just have been exotic with the extra slot, with all sorts of interesting infusions.
@etiolate There is yet to be any content outside of fractals you need ascended to do. It really doesn’t matter for the vast majority of the game. Nobody is going to turn down an ascended piece if it comes their way, but I know I wouldn’t care if the stats on mine went away.
The actual effort required to get them is not very high, you just play normally, and you get them.

Lighter armour is basically a nerf to light and med professions because if they had heavy armour they’d be ridiculously overpowered.
It ends up being a flavour thing for that classes defence ability.
You didn’t experience culling in pve cause everyone was stuck in dungeons, now people actually want to play in the world it’s crushing the system :p
Victim of success it seems.
I’m enjoying it, the new faction is quite mysterious, wondering why flame legion and dredge are working together and what they are planning. I haven’t been doing anything with the hidden objects though, helping refugees doesn’t have anything to do with the storyline.
Only 3 80s here but i love my ele and engi the most, the op classes are so boring. I don’t see the appeal of pressing 1 button constantly to win :p
