Maybe you have played too many games and are just burnt out. They’re all just pixels. Try to achieve something worthwhile, like making a friend or helping someone.
And now I can’t blame culling for my own failures, wvw is finally playable again XD
I’m loving GW2, though I will definitely be giving Wildstar a try, it’s just too hilarious :p
It seems like GW2 if it had a trinity, so i’ll just play both depending on my mood.
And lol at the sub fee comment, you can’t get away with having a sub these days, unless you are a niche game with a hardcore support. (and even then you need something like PLEX so people can play for free if they want)
Also about other games being gw2 + x, i’m ok with that, gw2 combat rocks :p I haven’t grinded once either.

It’s about the type of explosion, obviously grenades and bombs are too diffuse to cause the right shaped charge like the big ol’ bomb.
More rng, no thanks.
I love my CoE coat, all my stuff is asura style on my charr engi, Friend to magitek :p
Using the graphic from the level 50 or so single goggle, cultural shoes (ofcourse, everything looks terrible on charr and asura aside cultural)
Engi will be great one day, one day.
Hey the res elixir is pretty great, you can use it to res yourself if you throw it before you go down.
Oh and the turret elemental (air) is not tanky XD
It’s a shame about losing the free superelixir though, it was nice to have a condition removal like the ele one.
I never got past the 3rd step in mad king T_T Stupid norns.
It’s not supposed to be a cakewalk, even though it is. Just bring something that doesn’t do damage (you know, a defensive skill) and use it smartly.
And then complaining about warrior melee viability. 0/10
I always think of asura as having a sort of magitek exoskeleton that allows them to fight on an even playing field with any other race. Heroes just ended up inventing them and keeping them to themselves :p
Either way the point I was trying to make was that all successful sports don’t focus on the game, they focus on the stories around the players. People don’t care as much about the specifics of the game compared to interesting tales of humanity.
Gotta say that’s probably not right either, it’s about the team and not the individual in team sports. I don’t care who Arsenals striker is this year or what his story is as long as he doesn’t suck and helps Arsenal win.
Individual sports like tennis or golf are obviously different stories.
I said players, that encompasses teams :p I should just say it’s about the human side rather than the game itself to most people (in my experience)
Wait, you’re saying football is a simple game? You obviously don’t know much about it, eh?
You kick the ball into the goal, it’s a lot simpler than any esport.
Ah ok difference in terms, I was talking American football. In any case, I’ve played both and neither are as simple as “kick the ball in the goal” when played on any level above sandlot. American football especially is way more complicated than any esport.
I’m talking about to the viewer. In american football they just have to get the ball to the other end or kick it between those posts. I’m not saying it lacks subtleties, every sport has those, but It’s really nothing near to the depth in games like SC2.
So what’s more subtle about SC2? “Kill opposing enemies” is pretty simple to the viewer, as is capture the flag, and whatever new game modes they added which I won’t play anyhow because even the first SC was a pretty boring game.
You break any kind of competition down to its base it’s going to be very simple: Kick ball, hit ball with stick, throw ball through hoop, kill opposing player/team, capture the flag, hold all 3 points on map, whatever. Seems to me that you’re just trying to say “Video game nerds are smarter than those stupid jocks that run around on a field” but man you don’t need to act like esports are harder than real sports to be able to say that. Esports are a joke compared to real sports, and this is coming from a lifelong gigantic nerd, video game player/fan and professional lazy man.
You are reading too much between the lines, I didn’t say that at all. Either way the point I was trying to make was that all successful sports don’t focus on the game, they focus on the stories around the players. People don’t care as much about the specifics of the game compared to interesting tales of humanity.
As my speech teacher would say "He has so many “uhs” its hard to tell if he has any idea what hes talking about after counting 39 of them." That’s what i got from it.
Games devs develop games, not speeches.
It’s easy to stumble on words when you have so many things you want to tell someone, and then there’s some NDA stuff you want to say but can’t.
Nobody waits for them, there is a timer website.
How in the heck can a grenade be lobbed as far as a longbow arrow?…
We have grenades filled with helium.
Do people really care that someone got 10 laurels, if someone getting 1 item a week-and-a-bit before you is enough to rage you need to get out more.
You aren’t going to autolose in wvw to someone with 1 more ascended piece than you.
Oh, I thought it was also used for skills too, thanks for the clarification.
It’s interesting how you dodge with your energy bar, like in TESO. I always thought having the choice between defence and offence was good (old evasive arcana for example, all those traits that turn dodge into an attack)

I don’t play ranger, what’s different ?

Games often have multiple objectives so they have more complexity.
I must agree: Watching other people play video games is by and large as fun as watching paint dry.
watch this
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=74HhIS-TS10
Very good video, it’s important in esports as any other sport to explain the game well, and focus on the personalities like in that vid.
When I look at games like football they are horribly unentertaining, until you get to know the people behind it (i’m just guessing here, I don’t think anything could make me like physical sports, they are just too simple but I bet nobody would watch it if everyone was faceless drones).
You really do need a great caster, and usually having one action caster for newer viewers and one analyst for experienced viewers works fantastically. Like why I love watching totalbiscuit and dApollo casting sc2, or tasteless and artosis, etc etc :p
I was hoping to watch some esporty stuff but as soon as it became apparent it was unfinished I just went back to pvp/wvw
Just waiting for a good pvp patch to try and get my guild to try some tpvp :P
That’s the feeling I have overall is that Spvp is “unfinished”, for the first few months after release I was wondering what they were holding back for… there was a lot of hype about the game and there were a lot of videos devoted to Spvp… there was even a weekly show dedicated to Spvp on GameBreaker.tv http://www.gamebreaker.tv/buildcast-show-page/ but they canceled it…
Yeah when even anet admit it’s unfinished (on state of the game) it’s time to cut your losses and wait til it’s fixed. I’m very glad this is not a sub game, I’m very lenient on waiting for patches since I’m not paying to wait xD

I find it fun to watch the rts style esports, but not the fps ones, you can’t really see much of what’s happening from behind one person’s camera.
I find sc2 incredibly exciting ^^ though it’s easily 50-60% the casters that make it.
Never found mmo pvp interesting to watch, but I think that’s just because it’s usually really unclear what’s going on, and the skill cap in mmos is so low. In stuff like starcraft the pros are doing things I have no hope of ever doing :p
(edited by emikochan.8504)
a 5th skill in DS wouldn’t hurt..
And KR is the same timing as RTL, so at least, as an ele / engi mains I’m used to memorising that timing :p
That expectation and reality is exactly what happened to me, got to 80, respecced 10 into that line, added the skill, tested, respecced out of it.
so basically mortar being good. In our dreams maybe.
Pretty cool build
engi is for fun, don’t worry about things like viability.
haha that was a good one, I don’t want my engi deleted though
Is it affected by +healing?
After reading your post it seems you’ll get more use from bifrost, also keeping in mind you’d need 2 incinerators anyway.
I think it’s best to carry all the weapons and switch depending on your situation. Still, staff is pretty great in situations daggers aren’t
Still if you want long range caster, mesmer might be your thing. I rolled an ele because I wanted to be a melee mage :p
Dodge button, you have one.
You can always get someone else to do your makeup for you if your claws are too sharp, or invent a machine to do it for you. I for one would love more options for my charr.
That said, Rox’s pupils need to be less dilated.
Because magic. Everyone’s ability is augmented by magic, any physical differences are vastly overshadowed by magical/technological augmentation.
I don’t really understand why rangers ate the quickness nerf. I don’t play one but give them and engis a break T_T
It’s like the buffs are good buffs, but classes that only needed buffs are getting nerfs to balance out the buffs, when they didn’t really need nerfs.
Either way though, the content is the main reason for any class being op in pve – If pve suddenly didn’t favour warriors the patching would make more sense. I guess that may be a prediction of the future content.
Well on the last state of the game the devs said they had pretty much failed so far and would try to have another advertising push to get pvpers to return once the issues you outlined were fixed.
1 ele can’t hold a zerg, meteor storm has a cooldown and a range. You’d still have an advantage against a smaller group, it just would be less. It’d also allow more siege use, battle lines would be a little more entrenched as you couldn’t just grab 25 people and rush anything. In wow they just reduced the damage per tick of aoe, but not the number of targets hit. Spreading damage this way would be much more organic than “random 5”
I think they should just get rid of the “epic” elites, they are mostly good but the cooldowns are just too long, I think many people would prefer a 4th utility, and that pretty much shows how elites are tolerated rather than enjoyed.
If anet wants people to enjoy elites more they should at least make one for each traitline.
I dunno.
But i can say that minecraft has more streamer.
MMOs are incredibly boring to watch.
You’re most likely right
Agree with demosthene, how about skills that only chain when the target has a boon/condition, rather than just more damage. Chaining into a skill that add an extra condition/removes a boon/gives a boon, etc. Mixing the good stuff from gw1 with the basically better combat system in gw2…
Rangers are fine, your argument is invalid. They could be better, but they are far from useless. Never had any issues doing anything yet with my guild parties of all rangers and eles.
You skill is worth more than your class in 95% of this game.
And we do have a bunch of epic guild missions, you just have to unlock them, just like your “epic 12 boss raid” in wow. You don’t get to walk in there the second you hit level cap either.
GW1 gave me much more freedom than GW2 has. You are lead by the hand a lot more in GW2. The World felt a lot bigger in GW1 and at some point I’m going to actually measure it. Quality always trumps Quantity and in my opinion the quality has gone way down just to cram in more content.
gw1 also has 3 expansions, ofcourse it feels bigger. When gw2 has 3 expansions there will be a lot more to do, and a lot more skills (i’d wager keeping the same amount of skills going forward would be a bad idea in gw2)
(edited by emikochan.8504)
Necro already has boonhate if they take certain utilities, more builds should have access to anti boon if they are willing to sacrifice something. Since it’s planned as a trait, I hope they make it a good mechanic like “effects on boon removal”
You already got all the gold and loot from the dungeons, and all the materials from salvaging. That reward is enough.
Boo hoo, latecomers have plenty chance, old players don’t play forever. Everyone quits eventually :p
If you are dedicated you should have an advantage. Who knows maybe the leaderboards might also have sections for monthly/weekly as well as all time.
Hearte you can’t have infinite from the dailies and monthlies like you could from the unlimited ones, those are fine :p
It might be added to the possible bonus rewards from the daily, who knows XD
Generally if its dling the whole thing it means your file is corrupt, sad but happens
