This sounds on par as what happens in instances, and other end zone fights with AoEs.
Minion masters are a joke since we have to wait so long on all the recasts. I would be fine with them dying quickly if we could just keep pushing them out like in the first one we basically could. O you killed 3 minions of my 8, ill just summon 2 more to place them. mob dies I get 2 more again to keep them up, etc.

I think the scales resetting would allow new players the chance to actually player with others can get into groups. Because before long very few groups will want to run low level versions. Like how very few people run story mode now.
I still want them to remove the higher stats on the gear because they promised to not do such a thing which allows players like me to be gone from teh game for 6-7 months for work/real life issues then come back and not need to regrind gear. Just learning the instances and such.
Dark path seems to be working across Y axis now as well. Had someone take an immediate right turn, and drop off a ledge. DP made the same turn and ported me to him on the lower level.
That was a nice change of pace.
It might just be me, but i have noticed Dark Paths tracking seems more reliable and it seems to move faster too, it might just be the new FoV though.
Well you used to be able to basically out run the projectile of dark path. We just need to test if players still can.
I guess you will also have to look at it like does the amount of heal the thief returns = a necro second life bar in DS.
The best way to use DS is to dip into it, use 2-3 attacks then get out or hope it takes that hit from a backstab. Necros do not have 100% damage reduction skills, life force can be slow to buildup in some builds.
Now if we could use our heals, see our cast times on skills, or better yet use utility skills I would say it would be amazing. Only have 4 skills and not being to see anything else on your skills does hamper the class alot. Not to mention the stability on DS will only last 3 seconds. Not alot of time to use it.
Or just remove him for now, and just have a chest if they drop one, or a way to skip a broken event.
Those 10k posts represent how many dozen unique posters?
The cool thing about a guildwars game is you can skip whatever you like. Just play the way you wanna play.
Until the point you need that gear to compete in wvwvw. Heck even players wanting full ascended gear for older instances that most players will not run because they need better gear from the new zone. Its the beginning of a gear grind to always try to get new pants with slightly better stats.
O they will have ways, for wvwvw you will need 1000 tokens atleast for each piece of gear. Crafting you will need to buy some super rare mate from the trading post from players who progressed far enough down into the instance. O and the instance will make it almost impossible for new comers to the game to progress because even now players do not want todo lower lvled instance to help someone out.

These levels need to stop, they are making a gating system that will stop the person with less time then others even if they are very good players from enjoying the game as people with more time.
I would love a test server, alot of us necros already test the class after each update to see if something was changed that was not intended. Alot of them now noticed a change on the staff 1 attack which has been wonky for sometime but many others are now seeing it because it extended further then 1200 range. We tested the jagged horrors and those things have a animation of 2-3 seconds of just getting out of the ground, and 7 seconds of life at 80. The horror we cannot turn off or anything plus not to mention it could makes boss fights like lupi and alpha harder. We tested and just about proved without access to the game code we had a broken trait line by not giving the life force.
A community test server would help alot for them since they only have two guys working on this, we players could test out the new changes for them. 1000 players will have a better chance then the 2 programers to find an issue.
You can still activate the Spectral Recall half way through falling too lol, time to jump off cliffs in borderlands and recall at the very end to avoid zergs xD
lol you have an evil mind…. me likes:D
Its not as fun if they see the green from your body and know what you plan.
Adding a waypoint for out of combat use would go along way so players could actually get back up and help eventually when they get thrown to random places players cannot get them or fall to random places.
Yup im stuck at Noll. its not cool at all, i have very limited time todo these events and I bet many others do as well. So please test these many times before you introduce them.
Noll is still bugged on HoD server. Please stop trying to push out new content if we cant even complete it in the time frame. Some people have jobs, kids, etc so they cannot just hope it works.

Armor is not armor if it does not protect the wearer. I hated how heavy armor class’s somehow had less armor and protecting far less. I don’t care if its imbued with magic, all magic in games have its limit.
I think they need more testers. They have two guys working on balance changes and thats fine easier that way, but i think they need more testers. Its atleast 400 skills they have to test to see how they react with so two guys working on all the class’s and the skills, traits etc is alot of work.
So my crazy Idea is open a test server that anyone can join on with out using the transfer up. I would love to test things in the works for them if it helps make the game alittle more balanced.
Remember to copy paste the links. If anyone wants to see them.
You complain that one type of skill (channeled) can track you while you are in stealth. But every other type of skill loses track of you. Not many of them have a huge range ether. Also most do not hit hard at all unless you are geared for damage only.
Yes its annoying but its not game breaking in anyway as you make it out to be. Heck if you want a reason for this, just blame it on magic for working this way.
Actually it is a mortal problem, especially against GS mesmers and their illusions (plus iDuelist). So yes, it’s kind of game breaking in this specific situation.
Actually, yeah those could hurt alot more other channeled builds. I was only thinking of my necro and guardian channeled skills. Even putting them back to back in full bersker gear i never did alot of damage to a thief before. It did keep them on the defensive though, but a mesmer will do alot more then that. So you are correct in that case it could be very unbalanced.
It all comes down to preference really. I have a 80 thief, guardian, necro, mesmer now. I can say that guardian and thief for me was many times easier to lvl then my necro, the mesmer was very easy to i got to the orr zones. Undead just ignore the clones and phantasms so much harder for me at that point.
I enjoy my necro but it is overall a slower compared to my other 80s. We do have alot of issues and things that need to be fixed with it but still a good class, just slower paced.

Why did you not remove the 5 point cheerleader.
I would love new skills, new looks, and i actually liked how the new dungeon worked by ever increasing in difficulty. The issue is that it creates a gear treadmill and will hurt the casual gamer far more now. This will also make more players to have elitist mentalities and it was already showing after a few hours of releasing the new patch. I was refused out of two different groups because I play a necro. I know necro is buggy and such. Ive run most explore modes in the game, i have 5 sets of exotic gear, and i know how to dodge. What more do you want from a a player besides his best?
They should have just slotted the infusion on already exotic gear and kept legendary weapons to have the same stats of exotic weapons.

Put in a waypoint, so many times just going back to teh start of the zone and running back to a boss has reset them, opened doors, and heck made npcs start doing the script to talk. Not having one will hurt the game and instance even more then when you added new armor with higher stats.
I really wish they would just turn it off for now. I love the line but really makes it annoying on certain boss fights in instances. Just please turn it off to you decide what you are going todo with it. I hate the fact he will make more aoes happen with alpha, and lupi has a good chance to absorb a grub to give you two very good examples.
Ascii, the minion can still die before you as a necro can consume it for a heal when you need to. So best way to use him is summon him and only consume as quickly as possible.
I never understood why a MMO isnt automatically rated M. They cant control what people are going to say ingame, even with in game filters. There for its unfit for small children whos parents dont want them exposed to profanity.
Some words are not even mature in any manner. I dont remember some that trigger the filter but i am sure some place on the internet.
Hello Arena Net,
Here is my feedback on the patch:
I am happy to see that the trait points I have invested into improving my profession’s core mechanic (Death Shroud), now work properly. However, I was disappointed that more profession related bug fixes were not implemented, specifically for Necro, and almost universally hated traits / mechanics (e.g. Re-animator) were not touched in the slightest.
I appreciate that you are working on generating new content rapidly. However, I prefer functional content over new content. I feel that there has been a mismanagement of resources on the project, when it comes to the balance between new development and sustaining. Additionally, I feel there has been a mismanagement of the customer’s expectations for fixing broken content.
I really like your concept for the Fractals of the Mists. I think an evolving and scaling dungeon sounds really entertaining, and I expect that I will enjoy it. I have yet to try it for reasons I will discuss below. I also think whoever named it has a good sense of humor, giving it the acronym FotM.
However, all of this is overshadowed by the release of Ascended gear. After seeing some of the Ascended gear, I am distraught that this is the path you have taken. I am extremely disappointed that you felt the need to introduce vertical progression after only 2 months, when you have marketed the game on horizontal progression for years. Horizontal gear progression was one of the primary reasons I purchased your title, as I have absolutely zero desire to play a vertical progression game.
Mostly, I am worried. Worried that this once-great game will devolve into a gear treadmill. You tell me that you can appease the vertical progression crowd while not feeling like a treadmill, but I am not comforted.
I had been hyping this game to my friends at every chance I had. I told them GW2 was the best game available for my casual, time-limited, child-rearing brethren. “Leave that pointless gear grinding behind,” I would tell them over Ventrilo. Three were ready to quit D3 and migrate to GW2 after the free trial weekend. I have now told them that I can no longer fully endorse this game for our play time.
I believe that I am your target customer for a cash-shop revenue model. I have a fair-sized discretionary budget and very little discretionary time. I have no problem spending money for conveniences, bank tabs, skins etc., if it makes my available play time more enjoyable. However, I do not have time to engage in long gear grinds to be on par with other players. This, single-handedly, kills my enjoyment for a game. I will not be putting any additional money into GW2 in the near future.
That said, I am not going to rage-quit and uninstall. I will take a break and monitor the situation. When I get the motivation to log-in and play, I will see if my Necro still feels fun. I will check out the FotM and try to acquire some Ascended gear. If it does not feel like an overbearing grind (which, I assume, it will if it truly bridges the enormous gap between Exotic and Legendary), I will continue to play. And if I am having fun, I will resume spending money and selling the title to my friends.
I do not think a game can successfully cater to vertical progression without feeling like a treadmill, but I would be happy to be proved wrong.
I completely agree with you. One of the most attractive about this game for me and many others is no gear treadmill. I loved gw1 for that very reason as well.
Just make legendary and exotics keep the same basic stats as each other. Do not punish the players who have less time then others.
Update my 5 sets of exotic armor to match the new armor, give it the slot of infusions and ill be bloody happy. They said they would have no gear progression and that is what I liked about gw1 and gw2. I and many others do not need gear with ever increasing stats to make a game enjoyable.
Its your own personal cheerleader, that you raised yourself.
the blood fiend fix would be nice if the blood fiend was not the first thing ANY mob goes for, and kills it!
I have never understood this. What’s the point of it doing ANY healing at all if I am at full health till it dies and only then do I take any damage!
The whole concept of the blood fiend would be fine if it only pulled agro after a certain time. I have stood there time after time and no matter what I do I cannot pull agro from it.
I even tried not summon until after I start fighting, soon as he pops out the mobs switch to it and burn it down. Anet sucks as much as the blood fiend.
I gave up trying to be a proper “necromancer” pretty much at level 20. I am now a warlock instead!Just make it unkillable, problem solved.
I like that solution.
I do to, because we have the only heal skill in the game that can be killed. before any healing takes effect.

I know this is adding to the plethora of threads on the Necro already but I’m just done.
I was so excited for the changes that came in the Lost shores patch, then I actually read the changes for necro.
I’m just done. The class is broken. playing 1 spec isn’t fun
Sorry to whine/moan/whine/complain/kitten etc
But I’m just so dissapointed in those changes and nerfs.
What the HELL is with you people and kittens? >:[ Puppies are way better!
kittens is put in by the forum filters automatically.
Yup, minions have not been fixed. I suggest you find a nice power, condition, and or hybrid build you like since it will work better then the minions.
Happened to my group too. Took over an hour to kill him.
Fighting 1 boss who isnt even the end boss because of a bug of him not falling down. You sir and your group better get 3 exotic pieces of gear.
Dont worry, we had 80 days of a broken trait not working in soul reaping. It did not apply the +life force at all. Atleast that is fixed. We still have just as many bugs and trait issues as you guys, so i understand the pain of waiting so long on fixes for something you or need for your class to play correctly. I hate reanimator, for example and most necros just want it removed. Heck id be happy with no 5 point trait in the line over it.
And the LoS thing? absolutely broken as it was. Some of the comments I’ve seen……. >.> you can swap to staff on sieges, I do, and I have no problem hitting targets on walls. You know what? lets have thief summoned thieves not need LoS, and Elementalist and Necro pets! All pets! any pets!.
To start with, ele and necro pets don’t need any target to be summoned, therefore they don’t care about los. Not sure about thieves guild though.
And any normal mesmer will never use storm on wall. Why? Because it’s better to throw it in the bunch of your allies and grant some of them aegis, then deal laughable 800 crit to that guy on wall.
Also necro pets do not run though/up walls to attack players, even teh ranged ones will almost never target/hit a player on a wall. Ive seen my wurm look like he was attacking, but i never say any damage in my combat logs
Good news, Kholer now gives one of the karma bags and 3 tokens, so worth doing him now
Did you just fight him after the update?
Yup I did, He gave one of those promised bags, So did the spider queen and cave troll.
Hey now I have a reason to spend 4-5 minutes now on him.
I was glad to see we got a couple of buffs and fixes, but extremely disappointing that so many other glaring issues remain untouched. Why doesn’t Anet just remove all minion skills and rename us Warlock or Dark Mage or something? Adding to my disappointment is the fact that my ele received some really stupid nerfs for no reason.
Meanwhile the game keeps getting frequent new quests and content no problem. Anet needs to fire the entire balance/bugfix team and hire people that are actually capable of doing their jobs like the creative content team.
Or hire more then two of them.
I’m not too familiar with other classes, but what skills do other professions have that can hit people on walls who aren’t in line of sight?
We do have chaos storm and Feedback. Temporal Curtain can still pull people down occasionally. GS number 3 is a targeted AoE.
Chaos Storm is barely even sneeze-worthy as an offensive AoE, both due to it’s low tick damage, reliance on conditions, and 45s long CD.
As opposed to the Elementalist which has no less than five – possibly more – AoEs which have large ranges and high damage output.
Or the Necros whose wells and glyph-thingies last forever and effectively cut off entire sections of a wall or deal moderate burst damage.
Or the rangers whose arrow AoE is consistently one of the most spammed and annoying weapon.
You could make an argument for Feedback, except it’s also on a fairly long CD, doesn’t last that long, and every other profession has skills which reflect or block projectiles – Often lasting longer, with shorter CDs, than Feedback.
Temporal Curtain only works if the player is standing on the lip of the wall, which requires them to have already jumped up and scooted themselves to the edge of the wall, past the “safety bump” – At which point they are in LoS of everything anyway, so pulling them down is kind of pointless.
The question isn’t so much “what abilities abuse LoS” as it is “what abilities bend the rules of LoS”. You mentioned Mind Stab – While ground targeted, it can be put up on a wall. However, you need to aim it on the portion of the wall you can see, meaning only 1/2 to 1/4th of it’s area will actually be “on” the wall. Have you looked at your total area for Mind Stab lately? Because cut that in half or less, and that’s the range you have to hit people with.
The Mesmer’s siege equalizer was the iZerker bug, because it gave us an option for wall combat that didn’t go on CD for 45s every cast. Now that it’s been fixed – and it was a bug, so obviously it would get fixed – the Mesmer’s actual siege options are… well, kittened.
Marks do not hit hard at all, even when specced to for power and condition damage hyrbid build, do not be afraid of them. They will only stay on the ground to the necro recasts them or 30 seconds they poof. Also they only hit players close to the edges, unlike some class aoes (eles, and rangers). The good news is they bugged staff auto attack so it now reach’s more then 1200 but sghtly less then 1500 with this patch. If you want to complain about that.
The two damaging wells are 45 seconds by default and only pulse for 5 seconds. Only two of the wells can hurt you, one will blind you, one is our heal and a condition cleanser basically. Also they only hit players close to the edges, unlike some class aoes (eles, and rangers).
(edited by gamefreak.5673)
why do we even bother, they don’t read these, they don’t give a f – i’m rolling a necro.
Rolling a Necro is probably the worst thing you can do. Roll a Warrior. They will never be touched.
Necro was not helped mate, go warrior. Those notes really didnt do anything for the class that should not have been fixed before the game was launched.
Feel bad about ranger.
Couple of undocumented changes I noticed.
Necrotic Grasp (Staff 1) Is hitting alot further than 1200 range.
Minions seem to aggro my targets when I use staff Auto attack.
Gluttony was never broken, it’s always been such a small increase no one notices it.
Test it in the mists, count the number of Necrotic Grasp attacks it takes to fill LF pool with and without gluttony, gluttony will decrease from 33 to 32 attacks.
wow one full attack less.
No minion AI fix, that is all I really wanted to be honest out of all the bugs and issues with the class. I’ll have to play the necro to really see if they fixed anything and what they might have broke in the process.
I think it’s supposed to be a throwback to minions degenerating in the first game, the problem with that approach is that in the first game you were constantly replenishing your supply of healthy minions even as the old ones died off. You can’t do that here since you only get one of each and they only go on cooldown after dying.
If they’re dead-set on not letting them regenerate, I think a good compromise would be to set the cooldown ticking as soon as they’re summoned, rather than on death.
Or just make them all 20 second cooldowns
yes flesh golem is the exception to the pets that is that it actually regens out of combat and is actually usefull too.
When it decided to attack your target it is useful. I still love fleshie the flesh golem but he loves to attack anything that moves on my screen.
So its a hybrid build trying to cover all the weakness of just a straight power or condition build by being a hybrid build for survival mostly. Its a nice well rounded build since you can swap in skills you need easily and they can provide support to cover the necro’s weakness, or try to.
I like the thought of it of it and all. I run a similar build some days when i want to roam wvwvw and try to play differently since I now have 5 sets of exotic armor to cover just about any way I want to play. The major issue with it is, and its the same issues most necros have, its easy to get away from. We really do not have a way to make players stay close to us or keep fighting. I was using a build with power, crit damage, and vit with all the runes to boost my chilling duration so I could stay on top of foes easier and it does work nicely but still many players can still easily get away from us. Even using the warhorn 5 skill, immobilize on axe, and chills most players can get away from us and we cannot stop them really if they notice what we are trying todo since we have to be a 600 range to effectively catch them.
Surviving 1 vs 2 is good and all but others can do that as well and for the most part play the role better. Bunker ele’s and even more survival based thieves can be easily take on 1 vs 2 and are harder to run from or keep them fighting you. Bunker guardian is a really long fight in itself, and fighting a bunker necro setup they could take at least 3-4 minutes to bleed down, maybe longer.
(edited by gamefreak.5673)
I spent all my time getting all the armor and runes I could want so I could always match my play style. I now have 5 exotic sets of armor and 2 different set of weapons for my necro now. I kinda do want the axe legendary weapon since it kinda fits my necro looks most times right now but mostly I have been getting all my gear with stats I wanted to match my play style of the day so I dont get bored of just auto attack on my specter .
Now i am working on trying to make them look different from every other necro. I loved that there was no gear grind or power creep, one the major things I loved from Gw1 and this game. I do not want all my time to be wasted on this because some small amount of players cant live without seeing a small increase to the armor stats every few months.
Also most players on MMO’s do not go to forum pages, could never explain why but really alot MMO players do not do it. They might check the forum on the guild website if a guild has one, but seldom do they check the developer forum pages and or class forum’s.
(edited by gamefreak.5673)
For class’s that have issues hitting the burrows, have them circle the mound and keep trying to hit. This helped me with my thief with the d/d because for whatever reason the hit box is tiny.
