Remember in arah we have one boss fight (giganticus lupicus) they actually make this many times harder because we cant turn them off and for the most part forced to not go down the line. Other times they like to pull trash we dont want pulled or not ready to pull in pve instances and sometimes even in open world pve since they attack mobs we are not even fighting. Giving them a ranged attack so they stay close to the necro would help them out alot and if they didnt degen so much as well. It is really hard to get more then one of them up and most times die before you fight more trash mobs.

Other minions have the issue of attacking trash you don’t have targeted as well like fleshie the flesh golem will aggro half of orr for you. Ok the half of orr is a bit extreme but every mob in you can see might be better choice to compare it to.

Also thanks for looking into this for us, all we really wanted to hear is we are looking into it.

This was a good trait in beta’s but now its more of annoyance and in some instances they are a hindrance to have. They gave us a trait that actually makes pve instance’s harder because they run off and aggro more mobs we dont need to fight or not ready to fight yet on there own. This thing dies before it actually does any good now. Only time they are good is when using them from lich and tbh there are still better things todo.

They need to fix everyone’s skills, get rid of or improve the traits that do nothing for class’s like necro jagged horror since most of us would rather just turn it off and another example is mesmer illusion trait to allow illusions do more damage. Illusions do no damage and the trait to make there clones do damage is just pointless to have. Other examples of traits like this need to be fixed before trying to balance class’s any further no matter how much it frustrates me when i fight a thief. Class skills and traits need to be fixed before trying to adjust damage on skills with so many bugged traits in other class’s.

Obtena how can you steal a fear from a necro if they dont have a aoe fear to begin with. That is like saying you stole from a guy who had 20$ in his wallet, and you swipe that wallet and now its 40 dollars in it. same for other skills they steal, why are they stronger then the skills of the class they stole from normally.

I just want attack my target, passive and if possible defend. Now when i say attack my target i mean I select a foe, hit the key or press whatever button they give me and they all run off and do there best to kill it. After they are dead or target is dead they run back to me or when i give them another target they attack that.

Id like the horrors to stop having a health degen and ranged attack so they could at least attack targets and not leave my side like on the last boss on arah which makes the fight many times harder since they run up and try to attack him. The horrors I would love to go down the toughness line but they make that fight and others annoying because i turn them off or only summon ranged minions. Also it would be nice if the bone minions did have a slightly bigger aoe since it annoys me when i press them to explode and nothing happens to my target and they are only a few feet away from what i can see.

How important are the pets for Necro?

Sometimes we use Fleshie the flesh golem. He has a horrible habit to attack everything in site though.

Mostly they flee and they can run far faster then we can and grasp seldom hits anything if it isn’t in a perfectly straight line. Same with my dark path, it seems to fail me in wvwvw if its not on level ground.

Invisible opponents that can take 80% of a person health away in a single burst under 2 seconds is a valid complaint since there is few ways to actually stop it before it hits and then the thief vanish’s again. Necro can take the hit and fight back against it most times if the skills are up they need, same with guardians. Warriors shouldn’t have a issue taking the first burst but engineers, Mesmer (if know its the real one), ele’s, and other thieves will die before they have a chance to fight back in most cases not to mention if they are already lower on health.

If you’re going to go there, how about talking about confusion/condition mesmers that can 100-0 your 20k+ hp in 1 daze from the offhand pistol? How about the Moa elite? How about necros that have 3-4x their effective HP pool and still a metric ton of dps? How about warriors that can kill you in literally 2 seconds, no matter what class you are? How about eles who can stack 25 might and 2-3hit u.

I mean, I can go on, feel free to ask me about more examples, and then ask yourself: is a thief’s glass cannon burst really that much harder to avoid?

The point stands, that ppl like to complain about invisible opponents the most, regardless of how strong/weak they are. It’s annoying, it’s tiring, it’s banal, and it’s typical bads QQ-ing about things they shouldn’t QQ about.

Yes it is much harder to avoid. I have a 80 necro and for tpvp setup I have a crap ton of hp (like35k) and toughness and guess whats hes meant todo is survive and i do it well since conditions and damage i take little of it with my bunker build. Not sure what you mean by them having a metric ton of damage when setup that way, any tips with that ill listen. For normal wvwvw and pve setups i prefer a power build myself which has a nice amount of damage and hp but not anyway near what you have in damage you can do to other players. For wvwvw in that setup i can survive the first burst but most times the thief will get away from me but i will at least be alive to fight back unlike others.

Mesmer setup that uses illusions + mind wrack and etc built to burst for like 20k is annoying but it still not as annoying as I find thieves to be because it does require a little more work them to do this. I also do not see this every bloody 5 minutes like I see a thief back stab build in wvwvw and tpvp. The Moa yeah i hate that thing but i can let it slide for this conversation since everyone hates it.

Warrior’s you can see coming, you can actually avoid it and hundred blades does miss often for warriors on its own. Yes they can kill many players if they do not quickly get away from him. They hit very hard and quickly thanks to there traits and has alot of health. Still not as annoying and far less of a pain then thieves with there burst damage and stealth.

Also i cant say ive had this happen to me while in wvwvw so I have no defense to it, eles hitting that hard is just something i have not noticed. Could be i thought it was the thief i was already fighting, or the aoes i was forced to slowly walk though, or maybe being hit by that cannon but i dont remember this every happening to me.

Now we can argue this to the end of time but many players will say this is alright and others will not claim its over powered. Me id be fine if stealth just had a slightly longer reuse. The patch has fixed that with the viable buff but there is a issue with rendering so it doesn’t work right yet. Once it does I dont think as many players will complain.

There is a bug with stealth rendering so do not use it lasts three seconds excuse, its meant to fix that but the bug is stopping it from working right. For now they can basically perma stealth over and over to its fixed. To aoe them best bet is to have combat log open and watch for damage from one of the aoes. Channeled skills will still connect if it was used before a thief goes into stealth so necr roots with dagger will stop them in place once its done so that’s once way you can know where to aoe at least. Do not say that should be fixed, its magic it defies logic so do not complain channeled skills should not work that way because i might as well say your stealth shouldn’t make you invisible at that rate.

Traveling cost at 80 is annoying with how much I quick travel. But i never quick travel back to LA or any main city. You can goto heart of mists then take giant portal back to LA to save you on that atleast then use portal to other main cities when you need.

Well i do not feel i can answer most of those questions as a level 80 would since my mesmer is only 32 but I have a 80 necro, thief, engineer, and guardian so ill state what i observed. First ill start with WvWvW. Ive seen some amazing mesmers in wvwvw with the use of portals making it easier to get more forces to our team quicker, illusions provide confusion to other players and it is sad to see nerfs to phantasms those things used to me amazing to see since they did good damage, took a few hits and helped pushed back players back while the mesmer was on top of walls.

I have a issue on how i want to play mine for solo play and leveling so I cant help you here.

I dont see many mesmers in instance but when I do they are great support to have overall. Reflect projectiles and mimic can destroy npcs and do very nice dmage to alot of boss’s once you figure out what things can be reflected or returned back to a mob.

I love most of the skills my level 32 has unlocked, nice variety and i love the portal skill they get. Makes jump puzzles a breeze to help guildies or others complete if you are good at completing them. Also alot of fun to see mobs run back and forth with my port and portal trick.

Still have alot to learn before i can give out tips.

There is a stealth rendering issue even after the latest patch. That is not a problem with the Thief profession, but with a system in the game that needs a fix. Don’t blame the Thieves themselves for that. Still thief is overpowered and if they fix the issue it might help level the playing field for many of the class’s against thief. My necro might not be able to do much but with near 30k health and tons of toughness a burst thief cant kill me easily so i can still fight back against thieves at least unlike a lot of class’s/

If you are swapping weapon, you want two. One on both main hands if swapping from say dagger dagger to short bow. One on the main hand dagger and one the bow.

AOE in front of them, channeled skills like a root still go though so aoe that spot after the root finish and hope you get them. Chills help as well but even in stleath most thieves move faster then us so it doesn’t help to much so again the answer is AOE. Sometimes minions, illusions, etc will still track them shortly as well so it kinda points you the right direction.

For the most part you cant since its hard to always see which stealth they used to know if they are on the move or in the refuge, they move faster then other class’s and they hit like trucks. Ive gotten a few kills with my wells and staff aoes on my necro but that was because i was doing my best to kill that 1 thief while our group held off the others. Best result is my aoes to help hit them. Auto attack with daggers and such always miss so I need the aoe to help me out.

Also the good news is the golem likes to pull targets for you as well so you might not even have to move.

Pets do not die like in GW1. Yes one good aoe will kill them but they stay up forever to it is killed or we swap it out and its not like we have a quick way to swap them so we can resummon them to be at full health besides swapping to another skill, waiting on cool down then swapping it back. It is clunky with how we unsummon the minions. Just a simple all minions passive, attack, and defend would do wonders for them. So many times in instances, wvwvw, etc that it would have made minion master builds many times better. Also remove the horror bleed for the love of anything holy or unholy.

I do not have a ele myself which does sadden me but everytime i see them they almost always using the same elite skill so better elites and more based damage for all your attacks ive seen how small your numbers can be 1 vs 1 and it makes my necro look decent somehow.

I have a 80 necro who is a conditionmancer and I enjoy him, I have a 80 engineer who is actully better for conditions then my necro. The necro though can spread conditions to many others quickly but is slower at applying them then a engineer who can apply them quicker and more types at once with bleeds, burns, and vulnerability on crit alone for engineers.

I also have a 80 thief who i made just I could figure out ways to beat the annoying stealth and in that process i got him to 80 because i enjoyed it for some reason. Still hate stealth in this game and how it works against everyone else.

I have a guardian who is a master of virtues and spreading burning. I am now in the process of making a Mesmer. I have tons of in game practice with each of them besides the Mesmer because I just cant figure out whats best yet for how I want to play.

Condition builds have series weakeness since they cant hurt seige weapons, doors, walls, etc as a direct damage build can. They can also only stack up to 25 bleeds which can be cleared off very quickly along with all other conditions.

Conditions cannot even be applied to things in instances like burrows and such so it makes it hard for condition builds like a conditionmancer to be effective as he should be. Same with pvp and wvwvw with condition builds, they can be shed so easily and the over time damage can hinder some players from even getting credit for a players death because they have to do so much damage to a target.

Sabaz necros are not better at putting conditions on players or npcs but taking them off themseleves and spreading them to other players/npcs. They are slower then others at putting them on one target but epidemic makes it very easy for them to apply 20+ bleeds, poisons, burns, etc others stack for them they then spread it to atleast 5 players. I was trying to do testing in the mists but my bleeds would disappear off training dummies to quickly for me to verify if epidemic spread to 5 targets or more since sometimes it seems to apply to more and others it doesnt.

If most of our traits work right along with minion AI I doubt they would hear many complaints. Now I still think they need someone to look at all class traits again, Ill use Mesmer as a example to be fair. One trait they haveincrease illusion damage but illusions no longer do damage unlike from beta which to be honest was a horrible move to remove damage, tone it down since it was really high before but still give them some. There are other traits in other class’s like that which should be fixed,

trash is fine, now arah whats his name ive gotten groups killed because of minions, other fights boss’s put aoes on my minions they fall over, ta they often die again all the boss’s, caused spiders to all come at once, etc etc. Minions on boss fights are just meh as a whole, not up enough, makes fights harder most times etc. OK CoF that one fight minions are amazing at the end when you hold the 1 add while others kill the 4 other npcs.

Not so much underpowered but we have a number of skills that make dungeons and or not effective in pvp like the minions. Number of traits do not work like the 1 for the 30 point in soul reaping tree that was tested to not increase death shroud time at all, jagged horrors not even getting to hit a player or npc, etc. Now we can still do well in pvp and pve setups but we as a class should be doing so much better if thing worked right.

We do not have burst damage as a warrior or thief has, we have sustained damage whether it be from our bleed conditions or even our direct damage from our other skills like wells and daggers. We do not ninja in hit someone for 15k then leave before someone can fight back or even do anything about it.

Life blast hitting for 4-5k is ok but its slow, can be avoid and has a cast time making it even annoying to use for a 4-5k hit. We have to have life force to use the skill and its consumes life force making it so we have less time in DS. With dagger skills as well we have to be really close to get them to work, decent damage but 3k every 3 attacks on a target does not make its good, but decent sustained damage.

Now nerco’s can do pretty mean with our damage but targets have to stay in wells to get the full effect, or roots and chills help alot. Skill 4 of DS is also nice since it has good range and hits hard for a aoe like it has and restores life while being used, life blast on the other hand is not as good for how it works. Dark path is nice as well since we can teleport to a target, drop out of DS lay our two wells for very nice damage or even do other setups.

I had the same thing happen to me Silvershadez that the transfusion was not healing my minions it seemed. Now the Mark and well of blood healed them when they stood close enough to the blast or stayed in the well. The transfusion did not help at all for though.

I actually enjoy this little build in wvwvw and pvp but I made a few changes and if i was home I would link the changes but its a nice change but for PVE its not worth it.

I want to know how you can stand by and deal with how often pets do not attack what you want or stand there while you attack something, heck how did you never get sick of golem running off and attacking mobs for you and never even selected a target yet.

Levian, are using the minions though, i bet you not using them sometimes the golem but what about the bone minions, do horrors even hit a target more then once if at all, does the worm teleport poison do anything(still bugged) does its ranged attack hit a target often to say its worth a skill slot. Does shadow fiend actually hit moving targets and why does it take so long for that skill of his to go off, he can die while your casting it and still not get off. The bone minions explosions are good damage but so hard to know if they are close to a target to use, and they die so easily as well. The golem and bone fiend I actually do not have issues beside the AI is horrible for them both.

Who cares if they complain because right now its hurting the class by having so many pointless skills that no sane person will use since they are so unpredictable what they might do. They might attack, might sit there talking on there phone, some might go attack a mob who isnt attacking you and you never even cared to see then bring him back, sometimes they start attack something, stop then attack another thing.

Be warned about necro alot of traits do not work right, do not give proper damage or lifeforce depending on the trait and such. Now the guardian and mesmer go to town, I love both of mine, so many nice options for trait builds for both, mesmer can be alittle to much kiting for me since undead seem to ignore illusions most of the time but overall both guard and mesmer is alot of fun. For the necro I recommended a power or condition build for leveling. Even minions are ok but they often times find more mobs then you are fighting so it makes it really annoying.
