Ah, those fun WvW days…When traits weren’t dumbed down, and stability worked, and people, oh, the people…
Pity it is no more… Thanks ANet for great game that it WAS, and pity ANet didn’t make it glorious.
Look at that zerg disaster… no one even knows what they are hitting. This is the only game I played where zerging was “cool.”
I think the key is that the increased population makes it much more enjoyable but when that dips down again I don’t think it’s going to be any different than before.
Don’t forget the numerous posts about Alpine Borderlands being dead even before DBL was released guys.
Restoring Alpine was never the right move imo.
Please no alpine borderlands. I got sick of that map years ago ×D
Everyone will be running the max food always if they make it 80. I believe food will lose significance, relatively. In that case ANET should reduce that complexity (no matter how small) and just remove food from wvwvw
The community in this game is something else… Now we cry when we’re given free kitten.
Amazing.
I am for doing away with way points. In my opinion, they are one of several systems that take the feeling of adventure out of the online world.
This was the way MMORPGs used to be (and were the best times I had playing online games)
I have noticed more and more that zergs chase me across half of a map whenever I’m roaming I have raven gotten few offensive whispers from enemy that I’m playing wvw wrong …… what has happened?
Honestly sounds like you are doing it right lol. Take it as a compliment :p
Every map that has been released has caused an uproar. They are actually reverting a map soon which makes it a huge waste of money spent on development time. If I was ANET, I wouldn’t waste my time on New maps.
Silly bobble-head bullkitten.
excuse me, that’s offensive to people with big heads
I got sick of these borderlands two years ago. This SUCKS
I also predict there will never be any attempt to develop new WvWvW maps due to the potential crying. Hope you all are happy with the decision bc those cookie cutter copied maps are here to stay
What is the obsession with bunny ears?
Why? Probably because it is easier to balance one viable build then 10+
The goal is to standardize it as much as possible. They are trying hard for the red team blue team halo effect

Why not just politely ask to have all leader powers along side him so you can run it?
Most organized guilds have something like that any way.
Lol, look at this rage
I don’t know, just having a tag, does not mean you “can” command. And if the 300g is too much, you might be one of those commanders that is always asking someone else to put down siege, and that’s not cool. Siege is not that cheap if your tagged up all the time. unless you have a lot of backers.
But at least someone can try to command. Id rather have some attempt then no one tagging up tbh
Sorry, nothing is like freestylin on the old dd elly
But engi is fun. I give it 2nd best!
1. I like it. It’s a fun mechanic that adds another variable to a battle. The most fun is that it allows you to play off your environment (npc) if you can adjust quickly to the situation.
Sorry, I hAve no good advice for 1vx. I can say most roaming elly I know are running an aura share build for roaming x/focus. That build is on metabattle
D/d used to be the best build. But I honestly have more trouble post condi updates and heart of thornes running as the old celestial d/d. Things aren’t the same as they used to be.
You can still do alright 1v1, but I find 1vx very difficult. For roaming, I don’t find tempest useful. I find myself zipping around way too much and enemies simply walk out of the field.
NO. I have been sick of Alpine for the last two years…
I have no idea what you’re referring to.
is this much? can i count myself addicted to this puzzle yet?
I’ve never tried once, lol
Good gear wants us to play more. No one will cry nerf.
Thanks all. We downed VG tonight with the help of all your suggestions!
My guild and I were attempting Vale Guardian last night but were struggling with one aspect of the fight: the green circles were spawning in sections of the floor that are lit up. This caused that subgroup unnecessary damage and healing maintenance.
I read in a guide that the green circles should only spawn in the floor slice that the boss is in. I feel confident that at every moment the green circles spawned, the boss was already in a floor slice that was not lit up. So I would expect us to have been OK. But it wasn’t always. The circles were spawning in the previous floor slice where we were tanking the boss moments before.
1) Does anyone have an explanation why this was occurring?
2) I thought that we might not be moving the boss fast enough. Though, when the next floor slice becomes safe, the boss sometimes stands in the old slice for a few seconds. Any way to get him to move with us on demand?
3) Any other suggestions/tips or facts about the green circles?
We have previously downed him and we repeatedly get him to phase 6. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.
You want an i7. Start in the $300 range and can go up from there imo
If they added a waypoint in there, then I would purchase it…
Colin said that the marketing team said that the esport thing brings in new players and that it is pretty successful at doing that. If that is true I have nothing against it, more players is good.
Agree!
They are aware. It is down right now.

Awesome changes. Covers every point we were complaining about.
Fractals are bad.
1. Toughness scaling is bad. The day is coming where I wont get a group bc I play an elly and it won’t be meta.
2. Rewards have been removed. I don’t get why this whappen. In the MMOs I played rewards were never nerfed nor shifted to new content. I know I don’t like this and will stay away in future MMOs I play.
3. They took away randomization. People do 3x easisest for daily.
4. From my experience so far… Individual fractals take much longer due to toughness scaling.
In the end, the changes were all “peripheral.” They were surface changes that had nothing to do with core mechanics of each fractal. They made bug fixes and preventing stacking in some spots… but it took them two years. Your $50 certainly did not go to that.

I play with with a Dragonhunter and Chronomancer friend. Tempest is a joke compared to those elites.
I have fun with it in HoT content, but I would never use outside of there or for anything “serious”
There are two things that I will remember about this game when I finally leave it:
1. GW2 did not turn out to be the RvR/WvWvW/<insert acronym here> experience I was hoping for.
2. The loot sucked.
What is this obsession people have with mounts? Where is this coming from?
No mounts please.
I have played GW2 since beta, and I’ve been on a single server – through thick and thin – since beta. I’m also 38 which also seems relevant as context for my perspective.
Former DAoC player, WvW (or realm vs. realm as us old farts used to know it) has been my gaming life. For over a decade I went from MMO to MMO trying to find one that would replicate the joy I found in DAoC. For me, Guild Wars 2 did that.
And HoT has utterly trashed WvW and thrown it in the toilet.
My review is pretty simple, here is how the new BLs fail and will mark the death knell for WvW unless something very drastic is done. I know of not a SINGLE person who considers WvW they’re primary interest who would ever – EVER – ask for more PvE in their WvW. Not one.
And yet, not only has PvE “events” of various types been jammed into the new BLs all over the place, but the thing that has the most power to influence events in the BLs is a PvE event that happens every three hours. The big crescendo, the big “feature” of WvW BLs is now a PvE gather quest.
This design shows that Anet has absolutely no idea why WvWers do what they do. If you primarily PvE, and only occasionally go out to WvW for some off time, you aren’t looking for PvE in your WvW either. You’ll go to every other part of the game to get that – done better. But if you WvW as your main gameplay, its because PvE isn’t what you are really looking for in a game. Now non-player activities are the defining feature of BLs.
The second total failure is the utter GIMMICKY nature of BLs. All of the gimmicks are of pveish variety as well. Sandstorms, pve control points that grant different global environmental effects, cute little maze little portal hops and on and on. None of this makes for quality WvW of either large or small scale.
The final failure is in map layout design itself. These are some of the most over-designed maps I’ve ever experienced. If the intent was to eliminate large blob open field fights, Anet might have partially succeeded, but only due to making the BLs total ghost towns. WvW has been and will always be, a home for large force battles. Yup. That’s why WvW is WvW. Yes, sometimes we all complain when one server feels like they have a map blog three times as big as ours, or at times when we want to have small group skirmishes, but all we can find are large zergs roaming about.
But the truth is – we whine – but don’t want that fixed. At least not like you have done – by introducing more PvE and more gimmicks into WvW. Zergs are part of WvW. We complain sometimes, and then we love them and join in on the action other times. They can be a problem, but they are also a natural and unavoidable consequence of WvW done RIGHT. You can’t fix numbers imbalance by map engineering. My old fart WvW relics and I have a saying: “Find PvP solutions to PvP problems.”
You’ve made PvE maps confusing and tedious to navigate, floored them with gimmicks, and increased the PvE in them to biblical proportions…. And now no one goes there. I usually try hard to be at least a little balanced in reviews. But I honestly give WvW int he HoT expansion a true “F.”
Sad.
+1.
I actually just found this out in the last couple days, after I spent 200 gold upgrading my agony to 150. Who would have thought the new double layer fractal grind to 100 doesn’t have a scaled reward? With ANET, never trust your instincts.
You don’t. You buy it.
Thanks for the response. If tier for chest is 51-100, what is the incentive of level 91-100 fractals if they have the same chest as level 51-60?
Before HoT, I would do fractal 50 get four random fractals all at level 50. At the end, I would be rewarded with a ~15% chance chest and typically an infused ring.
How do I get credit for rewards?
- Do I still need to do 4 fractals? I got some type of chest for 3 fractals but not even a ring.
- Do I need to do fractals all in the same tier for a chance at infused ring/chest? (ie 61-63). Today I did a fractal in the 50’s and 2x in the 60’s and got some chest (daily?)
- To get the best chance at the best reward, should I always end on the level 100 fractal?
I spent a ton of gold today to upgrade to 150 agony. Just trying to understand the system as I move up.
To be honest, I feel like too many things are account/soulbound… So many times when I look at ascended materials (or semi-amusing-looking unique items) I got from events or drops and wonder whether I should delete them to make room in my inventory. Not to mention collectible pieces. I’m not upsizing my bank for 600 a pop just to complete collections…
This. But, everything should be tradeable imo.
Just join any group, don’t even tell them it’s your first time and do what they do.
Now you can choose fractals so just watch a youtube video. Not a big deal..,
No. Got sick of Alpine maps two years ago.
Yes. This game drops so much junk.
I need to spend a portion of my evening simply maintaining all the crap in my inventory.
Now with HoT and the holiday event stacked in the same time frame, I have bags, blues and greens coming out of my eye balls.
How do we even turn loot off? This is one aspect of the game that I hate.
But you all keep grinding it out. ANET: “Mission accomplished.”
I like it. They needed a change… to anything. I got sick of triple Alpine BLs 1.5 years ago.
I am on SoS, T2 server. I got on last night 9PM – 10PM central and roamed.
Did not see a single enemy.
Yes, I believe it to be dead.
Two reasons:
1. They wanted to decrease the difference in price between bolts of damask and elonian squares
2. The more grind the merrier. They know that it will keep us all grinding out from now until the cows come home. They called our bluff
I did the “quick” cof farm for 45 minutes yesterday and gained only a single mastery level, 635,000 exp. Then, exp required for next level doubled to 1.2 million.
Is there anything else I can do that is quicker, or at least near that pace and more fun?
I wanted to knock out the fractal mastery, but I gain 0 exp by actually doing fractals. Any help with this matter is appreciated. Please.. I’ve played all weekend and don’t know how to progress
So if I expensive agony infusions in my rings, do I lose them?

Wow huge bummer. I don’t get to play until Sunday but was looking forward to playing with the new elite LOL
