PVE: Heart quest has so little target

The level 32 Heart quest in Fields of Ruin is the most frustrating of all.

No ogre spawns there at all. Only a few ogre racks spawns with a long respawn timer plus it takes a long time to complete it.

Just pick up the char metal. All you need to do is stand in 1 place and pick up charr metal which respawn every 5*0000* seconds and it’s done in 100 seconds. years

fixed.

well forum pvp is fun. I think you need 20 to complete the quest.

I would say a change in the scaling system in dungeons and make monesters in dungeons stronger ( not by increasing health, but increasing power) would help solve the problem

That is what fractal 50 is. Try wearing cleric, soldier or normad gear. Tell me if you can actually tank anything. It doesn’t matter what you wear, you are dead in a few hits.

What I’m trying to tell you is there is very little difference between full toughness gear and no toughness at all. You only take about 30% less damage, and you do much less damage.

The actually reality is if a group of cleric/soldier/normad gear players do fractal 50, they’ll probably wipe after wipe on ascalon or cliff side because they can’t kill fast enough. While a group of berserker can just go through the content easily, because even if 1 person die, they can rally because their party kill fast enough.

Not to mention you can’t hold agro anyway. Even if you take less damage dont’ mean other people is taking less damage.

It’s just the way the game is designed. You can theory craft all you want. But the game isn’t designed that way. You need to redesign the whole combat system to make tanking work.

I dont’ really like normal dungeon, most of them is way too easy. Especially the popular ones where people use it to farm money.

I think fractal is really well done though. The difficulty is just about right for pug. And you some times wipe occasional.

and on the topic of tank… well you are not suppose to get hit. AT ALL. That’s why tanking is mostly useless in this game. And the way people tank is by spamming blind, or block or dodge. And if you really want to tank, grab a hammer for guardian, it provide 33% protection permanently. Which is the equivalent of getting soldier gear for your whole group without sacrificing much dps.

and the topic about glitch or cheat people use in dungeon…. my opinion is it is always the developer’s job to stop that. Not the players job. PvE is about finding the best way to do things. I think all Anet need to do is make dungeon hard, and it’ll be interesting. Fractal is quite interesting to me.

True u dont need tank in boss fights, but in 90% mobs that people skip, u need a tank, healer or an AOE condtionar

I think the main problem is monster just hit so hard in this game. Take for example fractal 50. Monster kill you in 2 seconds if your wearing berserker and 3 second if you are not. I dont’ think those 2 to 3 seconds really matters.

And like I said, you can just give your party protection which is the same as full party wearing full toughness gear without sacrificing any dps.

As for healing…. well you can heal using berserker gear. Which is probably the whole point people are complaining. You can do everything in berserkerk gear so why not.

I get your complain about dungeons, I felt the same way too, it’s just felt a kitteneesy(meant to type cheese y here), I would say fractal is much better done. If you dont’ like normal dungeon, why not try fractal, the mechanics are much better there.

after doing map completion for the 25th time…. I would say most are ok. Some of it are indeed a bit slow, but there are usually alternate ways to achieve the same thing. For example some quest you can hand in items instead of killing monster.

A few of the heart in snowden drift I find a bit slow, but most I’m fine with it. I think the main problem is megaserver, and there are other players killing monster so you have to wait.

You might want to list which heart quest you have a problem with.

Last time I checked, the ingredients for the recipe werent requirement to craft the crossing.

well they arent optional are they

1 time investment diluted by multiple craftings

You could always buy the Gift of the TP or find someone to craft it for you, assuming you can find someone trustworthy.

last i saw, gift was almost the same price as the weapon itself

gift is about 150, the weapons are about 225.

If you just want the weapons, probably not a good idea to pay an extra 70 for the recipe.

That being said if you have the recipe you can craft more to sell etc.

I dont’ think Anet should. Because there is only a few people on the entire server that could collect every single legendary.

This isn’t completely provable. Some people may very well complain because they care. Other people, however, like to troll and don’t really care. They simply post because they think it’s fun to rile people up. I’m not saying that’s necessarily the case with people in this thread, but there are definitely people that come to forums for no other reason than to annoy “fan boys”.

I dont’ think they are trolling. Many people complain about the game getting stale and lack of meaningful content. That is especially true for veterans and addicted gamers who play too much.

I myself included. I’m playing another game at the moment because GW2 along can’t provide me enough content to stay put. I still log on GW2 and do daily and fractals. But I used to only play GW2, now I play other games too.

Keep at it, someday one persons mind might change. Also, very interesting information to think on about the health of the game. I was pleasantly surprised indeed. Not that I thought the game was in any danger really, just the amount of people saying they leave, and the amount of people I see still online often now that I think about it is quite sharp.

Those are the person who are severely addicted, probably have a few thousands playing hours and wondering why they felt the game getting staled.

The problem I have with these sort of tools is very few people even use these tools. Xfire is pretty much saying there are only 50 concurrent players that is using xfire and playing GW2 at the same time.

And raptr and overwolf never even release how many data they manage to collect per month, that’s why people discredit them.

I’mn talking about people on this forum that shout to the mountains that they are quitting, have quit, etc. I have started putting several of them on my Friends List just to watch and I am amazed at people that I see online A Lot. Not just intermittently like that are checking.. but on for hours at a time and often.

They complain on the forums because they care. If they didn’t, they’d just quit without saying anything.

I would say you are more likely to see them online than your normal friend list whom when quit really never came back.

I kind of can understand why Vayne spend so much of his time spaming on forums.

Negative forum posts do have an impact on new players and their willingness to try the game.

Maybe Vayne felt he need to neutralize all the negative comments, so it won’t scare new players away.

This is a part of it, but it’s not all of it. It’s not just new players.

Do you know how many people I know who like the game have stopped posting on these forums because of the toxicity?

If we all did it, there’d be no one but the people who complain left. It’s not that everyone is equally disenfranchised. It’s that people hate being called fan boys or being insulted or being called blind. They don’t enjoy it. They’re happy playing game.

Those people I know, no longer have a voice here. But that doesn’t mean their opinions aren’t valid.

Someone should present the other side of the story.

Well, get back to the main topic, I dont’ think that many people are claiming the game is dying.

But I do think many people are complaining about the game being stale, veterans losing interest in the game.

People are presenting you another side of the story too. When I walk into other game’s forum, I didnt’ see a bunch of people complaining about veterans lossing interest. Maybe it is something Anet should be concerned of.

That being said, I think Anet know of the issue, and they are probably working hard to deliver, but is just slow on pace.

I sort of understand what the OP is talking about. When the forums are fill with complaint that’ll scare the new players away.

I always use the forums as a guide weather to try new games or not. And negative forum posts do have an effect for me as a new players to decide if I should play the game.

I personally think GW2 is a really good mmorpg, and I always recommend other players to try it on general mmorpg forums.

That being said, you have to understand those complaints dont’ come out of no where. If you gradually see more complaints about the same topic over and over again, I think the developer should at least be concerned about it.

So with this drop rate I will have enough to make my scepter in 20 years, cmon Anet really :[

I dont’ know why everyone in this post felt they have to farm the item their self.

If you want to get 9 more giant eye, it cost 27 gold. I don’t think farming for 27 gold is that harsh.

Its 27g today because someone is selling theirs… If I needed to buy 250 of them the price would be well above 4g a pop by the time I finished. _( Supply and Demand)

I dont’ find it too difficult to fill the buy order quite honestly. You probably have to do it slowly in a patch of 10 without having people aggressively over bidding you.

If what you said is true, the price won’t stay at 3 gold, which have been the price for quite a while. (Supply and demand). Supply is low but quite honestly as a recipe which is used only for 4 items(and 3 of them require low amount), only the immobulus require a huge amount).

I was refering to trying to buy all of them at the same time (buy order or straight up purchasing). If you put in 250 buy orders with an item this low supply you’d simply be forcing people to outbid you (overbidding by a few copper). Now throw in someone else’s 250, and you can rest assured it will take a very long time before your order is reached. Unless you overbid the other order, introducing a bidding war and temporary inflation. (When both are done price will gently return back to around 3 gold.

well bid 3.50. see how many people follows. That being said, maybe a bunch of people did, that’s why the price skyrocket.

probably not a good time to bid on it since not much people is in ore during the halloween event.

I actually haven’t noticed people saying the game is dead or will be dead in a year. I’ve seen people saying that not as many people are playing, or it’s less as time goes on, but that is to be expected of just about every single game/mmo. I truly haven’t seen someone claiming it’s dead in quite awhile. I’m sure there are some scattered around, but I haven’t noticed any.

When I started this thread, there were two posts about the game being dead on the first page.

Maybe you’re a bit too sensitive. I honestly don’t see that many people even complaining about the game being dead in this post. (of course, your going to nit pick and find 1 or 2 counter post to argue other wise).

Like telling people you are totally not a white knight because you make 1 or 2 post complaining about the trait system, and another 9000 post defending Anet.

I think the developer says the same thing about dungeons and spvp. Some thing along the line of we dont’ want new dungeons/spvp mode because it fractual the player base.

That’s simply not true. Anet has stated that they aren’t working on dungeons since they are hard to make and not many people seem to do them (they cited aetherblade path for this).
They also do want to create new spvp game mode types, we know this because they have shown works in progress and there are data mined maps.

ya I should correct myself. It’s at the PAX interview, MattVisual asked Colin weather they’ll do hard mode. And he says it is very unlikely, since having so many game type will fractual player base. And the way they want to update dungeon is maybe some change to a few of the exp dungeon and make it harder, or fractal.

That being said, that is a really long time ago, lots have changed. I think they also mentioned about fractual player base in another interview. So that is something they are concerned of.

That sounds like an order of magnitude outside the numbers even players complaining about the method reported in the past. I can only conclude you were either doing something VERY wrong or material prices (Ectos or Dust) have drastically changed in the past several months.

ya I’m just randoming throwing numbers because I dont’ remember how much level I gained from ectos.

What I remember was I spend 800 gold on ectos and gained a bunch of level. I didn’t spend any money on blues and greens and gained a bunch of level.

There are people that are still salvaging today for gold even though they maxed magic find, so I doubt you actually need to spend money to level magic find. That being said, I’m not sure about the market today.

Salvaging Ectos is generally considered the LEAST expensive way to BOOST MF %.

Whether or not you loose or make money depends on the current prices of Ectos and Dust and how good you are at playing the TP to get the best possible buy and sell order prices.

Quite unlikely you can make money while boosting MF % in the long run.

nah, just put buy order on blue and greens and salvage them everyday. See video below.

I gained from 180-250 magic find actually making money doing it. It’s just really tedious.

I lost nearly 800 gold going from 250-290 salvaging ecto.

the guy in the video actaully loss money I’m not sure why. You probably need to pick what you want to salvage better if you dont’ want to loss money.

The game most likely felt dead to them based on the changes in numerous channels of interaction (guilds, fl, preferred game mode). However once the game feels subjectively dead to large enough a number of people, it normally means it is also “statistically dead” (in terms of revenue generation), unless said people are able to keep the game in the black through their purchases alone.

A few month ago, some guy was bashing GW2 on mmorpg forum, and I ask him a really simple question. Name me 3 mmorpg that he think is doing better than GW2, and he can’t…

Quite honestly, after playing mmorpg for 10 years. I would say Anet have done a fantastic jobs. Because for a game that is 2 years old, it is doing much better than many other studios.

If you think, many people are complaining about GW2, you probably never visits the forum of other mmorpg. I’m not here to tell you GW2 is the greatest mmorpg in the world. I’m saying there is only a few mmorpg out there, that is still doing good. And GW2 is one of it.

you are comparing it to the worst competitors. Keep in mind GW2 had a 5 year development time on a pre existing franchise which sold in the millions. Cant really compare gw2 to a stary up mmo developed by a small studio in a couple years.

gw2 is doing ok, its running with some big guys, but that really was the lowest expectation of the game. Anything else would be considered a failure.

well just recently, eso, wildstar? they got good budget right? And over the years I played AOC, warhammer online, those got budget right?

I would say Anet did a much better management job than them.

If hope Anet do a better job like the rest of the complainers. I just find it a bit harsh to be too critical, since it’s probably not so easy. (seeing how so many studio have tried and failed).

wildstar isnt a franchise, its trying to come from no where.
eso however is a good example of a failure.

but my point is you are comparing them to failed games. I wouldnt be a considered a successful musician if i sold 1000 records, and muscians comparing themselves to musicians who sold 1000 records arent saying much.

If you really want to use analogy…

The whole point is there isn’t many musician that are able to break the 1000 records mark. So how can you say the musician is doing poorly.

Theoretically I think salvaging 100 gold worth of ectos will results in roughly 100 gold in dust.

But it is actually a huge lost. Since buying 100 gold of something and resell it for 100 gold, means you pay 15 gold of tax.

You’ll probably spend in the thousands of gold if you level magic find from 1-300 using ectos.

Spending 30-60 minutes a day buying and salvaging blues and greens, you can achieve the same thing without spending any gold.

and unfortunately the guy have some points. If you think GW2 is terrible, you probably dont’ have many choice for mmorpg. Because quite honestly, most mmorpg is dead after 2 years, GW2 is at least more alive than most mmorpg after 2 years.

Sure and people can exaagerate how dead the game is, or conveniently forget stuff they don’t want people to know.

For the record, I don’t use any of those tracking software, and if I did, I’m sure I’d skew the number higher, because I play a lot.

I think raptr, overwolf might be a “little bit” more accurate. Since one of them track unique login per month, that should be a bit more “un-manipulable”. Those tools besides xfire never even release how many data they collected. (for example it says 1%, what does 1% even mean, 500 login? 5000?)

You do realize by turning on 50 computers 24/7, you could get the same results on xfire right?

if anything I believe reddit view much more than any of the 3 tools you listed. my subjective opinion is GW2 is doing ok base on those numbers.

I have donated about $300+ to GW2 today.

What exactly did you use those gems for.

If you have a problem with RNG, turn gems in to gold and buy the things you want.

start wvw map completion asap. Else you might get everything done and stuck on it for months.

things you should try to get is around 1 million karma(or equivalent in obsidian shard), and around 350 skill points. Doing fractal/teq/EOTM is a good way for karma. And doing map completion/dungeon is a good way for skill point.

Thief solo player, best dual-wield set?

I dont’ know what you mean solo players.

If you mean map completion, D/D can help you move fast and kill fast. S/P you can keep pistol whip and kill enemy while dodging.

You can weapon swap once you reach like lvl10 I think. So you can have 2 set of gear. I think 1 of it should be dagger main just so you can move faster.

I leave the game

I’m pretty sure the OP like GW2, that’s why he have 6000 playing hours. But I suppose he dont’ think GW2 have enough content for him to play over 6000 hours.

I’m kind of in the same boat as the OP. But kind of hard for me to blame Anet. They are trying to put out enough content for people who play 8 hours a day.

That being said, I hope Anet will come up with some solution. There are gradually more complaint about lack of contents this days.

I think a few people mentioned price is dropping. I have no idea if that theory is right or not. I have a hard time selling some items myself, which previously is really easy to sell.

I bought 5 of it for investment. Only the green and orange ones. The black one is too expensive.

The way I see it is, it is just an exotic jewel upgrade. Meaning it can’t be put in ascended jewel. It is also celestial stats.

My guess is most likely there will be new jewel coming out, maybe ascended infusion which does the same thing. Or jewel with different stats. I would put all my money into it, if not for the uncertainty.

The sample size from xfire looks abysmal small. All you need to do is get a few computer and turn it on 24/7 and you can manipulate the rankings.

I’m not sure how large the sample size from raptor or overwolf is. What does it mean exactly when they say GW2 is ranked 10. How many actual session did they recorded.

Anyhow I’m not sure why we are discussing this tools. Don’t seem related to GW2 that much.

base on the developer discussion and tease posted on the forum. My guess is we’ll see some change coming soon.

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/bltc/RNG-as-a-concept-Discuss/first

My guess is it’ll be some token or achievement system, where once you throw a sufficient amount(probably really large), you’ll be rewarded if you are really unlucky.

That’s why I firmly believe we should NOT get legendary armor with sparkling effects and leave that to trinkets. We already got flashy legendary weapons, if we put more sparkle (and see I like glow) we’ll get blind. It will get to a point that’ll be unbearable.

The amulet is for changing color.

legendary armor is for making you look like super saiyan.
