well you can join that lfg first time. Maybe the problem is even new people dont’ want to join with other new people.
It’s not that hard to find a group. If you want to join those good groups, you need to be good yourself. It’s understandable.
I used to do low level AC on my low level character. Quite honestly a huge percentage of people just rage quit before the dungeon is over. And dont’ get me started how many times I did aetherblade path, and everyone just keep rage quiting.

I dont’ know. you probably have to check everyday to see if any is sold. As I said the popularity of the item probably matters here.
I honestly dont’ believe in buy order that much unless the price is at least within reasonable range.
And you need to know Anet never says they wont’ bring the items back. The one they removed recently they only said, they wont’ be coming back “this year”.
I have quit a bunch of love struck weapons, and I’m worried it’ll make a come back next Valentine.
You also need to consider you might make more money if you sell faster.
Instead of waiting for a black lion skin to quadruple in price…. it might be faster to sell a black lion skin when it double in price, buy 2 more, and wait for the 2 skin to double the price again.
I got a few of those sclerite weapons. Quite honestly 0 have been sold in month. I’m not sure where it is heading.
You might be more lucky if you got one which is popular. Maybe wintersday or fuse.
As far as I see, none of the sclerite weapon have been sold. Just because it is discontinued don’t mean price will go up since no one is buying any.
I think weather or not the skin actually looks good maters here. People arn’t paying lots of gold just be a discontinued ugly skin.
It is very hard to get exotic unless you are lvl80. Since there are very few exotic that is lower than lvl80.
And I think it is harder to get exotic champ bag unless you are lvl80.
Basically in the asura fractal sometimes you become invisible.
I also get invisible when I change my hair(hair kit) in fractals for some reason.
for legendary, at most you only need to run a dungeon 9 times for the specific gift for your legendary.
for ascended gear. dungeon is a good source for empyreal fragment. But you can also get those from wvw, eotm, or farming chest in open world.
I was running out of things to do until I realize I didn’t do half of the content because it don’t give good gold/hour.
I think that’s one of the problem. If the content dont’ give good gold/hour people just don’t do them.
Don’t care about gold/hour.
Here for the adventure. I have over 330 hours in guild wars 2, i probably have less gold than most new players and less gear. Do i care? Nope.
I probably should say “some” people dont’ do them. Or they wont’ do them “as often” as the more rewarding one.
I was running out of things to do until I realize I didn’t do half of the content because it don’t give good gold/hour.
I think that’s one of the problem. If the content dont’ give good gold/hour people just don’t do them.
I doubt many people care if you die or not. They care more about if you make a 5 minutes dungeon into a 10 minutes dungeon.
Unfortunately that’s the mentality of GW2 dungeon “farmers”.
And there is really no way you know the ins and out of GW2 dungeon without running it many times or reading a guide. If the dungeon goes so smoothly on your first dungeon run, maybe you need to consider the 4 other people is carrying you.

I think their policy is a no. But if it is a really minor mod, they probably wont’ take the time to bother to punish you.
And that policy makes it simple. Unless they say it is ok, pretty much nothing is allowed.
Only thing they said which is ok are music playing macros, and I think a graphic enhancement mod. As for combat mod, i have no idea. They never said anything.
The dude makes a mistake on terminology. Let it go already. Which is quite understandable since typically he would be correct, it’s just Anet distinguish between content and feature patch.
It’s quite clear he means “patch or future patch” and he just misused “feature patch”.
It’s more of a technology things. They need to divide the maps/players/bandwidth.
If not that they need to cap the maps so players themself wont’ get hit by 0 FPS.
People are always compairing single players game to mmorpg. And many of those great SRPG game company actually made mmorpg. And the same things happened, it get dumped down, because of techonology.
Much simple if everything is run on one computer(SRPG) compare to a network of servers and clients.
That’s asking asking a lot from Anet and in that doing a lot of hand holding. Do you really want Anet to manage and organize maps for you? I mean that’s a bit much to ask. However YOU could organize or help organize things, since you are a player and all. Otherwise it just sounds like you feel you’re entitled to the best more organized map/dungeon/fractal and should just have a button to click to send you there.
Peace.
I honestly like silverwaste much more than Anet’s previous map. (eg. queen’s gauntlet and dry top). Since the rewards on silverwaste is still pretty good even if you are on “fail map”.
For the previous events maps, if you arnt’ on one of those pro maps, the rewards gets severely reduced.
I don’t disagree, but in saying that, the mods get quite picky with what gets said about which competitor’s games. I’ve seen heaps of other threads shut down for a lot less than what’s been talked about here.
That’s what every game forums do. They delete post about other games or move it to a forum no one read.
It’s understandable since the mod don’t want people to be lured to play other games.
I’m surprsied Anet let many post go. If it is on another mmorpg forum, it’ll get deleted immediately.
The reason nobody does TA Aether is the reward for completion is so lackluster its sad.
You still have a chance to get dreamer’s weapon. Some dungeon group told me they get 1 for every 4-5 runs. I dont’ know how accurate that is.
That being said, if more people do it, the TP might be spamed with dreamers weapon that it’ll no longer be worth it.
My point is that I would prefer not to have to deal with selling at all and just have Anet reward people who opt for a bit more of a challenge by going in with fewer people be that solo or 4man or whatever. Like a very rudimentary gambit system if you remember the gambits from the Queen’s Gauntlet.
I prefer anet just make 5 man dungeon require 5 man. Anet wont’ have to deal with this kind of things if 5 man dungeon can’t be soloed.
Obviously there is skins. And many gears with different stats(which only a few is useful and we call them meta).
Is it possible to add other form of horizontal progression? I understand Anet added those new traits. I’m hoping there could be more added like that, but more difficult to get. Obviously the pvp players won’t be happy if it is made to be grindy. So I hope Anet find some ways to make spvp players not going to grind those.
Complete the events. Temple become uncontested. And apparently there is no vendor.
status update: the events become available immediately after and we redo the event and vendor is up. Not sure why we didn’t get the vendor the first time eventhough the temple became uncontested.

Do you expect the zone to be full of people in 6 months?
I was farming the crest at 5am eastern when we can only hold 1 keep. I don’t think you even need to kill the boss to extract his parts. So I dont’ think you need to worry about that.
You guys are sick. I hate market manipulator.
We wont’ be able to do the kodan march next feburary for the polar bear awareness day now.
edit: I’m just joking.
(edited by laokoko.7403)
Is it possible some of the lack of content is actually lack of rewards?
People say they want new dungeon, but they wont’ bother to run aetherblade path for more than a few times.
People say they want new zones, silverwaste is a really fun zone to play on. But for people that dont’ want Luminescent armor… They probably won’t bother with it very much.
I recently started doing EOTM because I need gift of battle for legendary. And find it really fun. And wonder why I never do EOTM before… and ya, because the lack of rewards I want…
If Anet can find ways to rewards people maybe they can turn a few hours of content into tens/hundreds of hours of content. That being said, I’m not sure what they can reward people with beside skins which not everyone care so much about it.
(edited by laokoko.7403)
I would like to see real numbers on the PvE/PvP’s they talk about being a larger group than we think. Not just the ones they bribed with the rewards.
You don’t think dungeons bribe with rewards?
Perhaps, but they never tried to link increased dungeons rewards to state that increase in dungeon participation justifies further dungeon development.
They increased dungeon rewards significantly twice. Once with champ bags and once with adding the gold for each dungeon.
But also if you go to any thread that talks about getting gold, dungeons are one of the most recommended ways to get gold fast.
Increasing the reward isn’t really the issue.
It goes both ways. If silverwaste is released in another game. It’ll be jam pack with people. Since they’ll be farming the next tier of gear there.
But apparently after the first few days. The population drop sharply. Since there is nothing else to farm there any more. I got a few stack of crest and not sure what to use it for.
I still like going there to get dragonite ore. But I dont’ see much people interested in it after the nerf.
Most people doing open world are farming items too. I doubt many people will do open world boss everyday if they dont’ drop anything.
Your friend is just lucky. And you are not unlucky.
You only loss like 450-500 gold right? If it’s so easy to get legendary, it wont’ cost so much on the TP.
Personally I don’t think the fact that there are some extremely expensive items with only cosmetics to set it apart. In fact I think it’s a good thing.
The worry for me is that with only 550 on the TP the price can be artificially inflated by someone with only a few thousand gold.
I tired to place buy order on Giant eye. It is one of the most annoying thing to buy. Unless you check TP every few minutes, you will never be able to buy any, because there will always be people over bidding you by 1 copper. Unless of course I raise the buy offer by a large volumn.
there is like 3 chief there. you probably talk to the wrong one.
i just check 1 minutes ago. it’s still there. peaches in bulk.

So, allowing players that run an Arah P4 or Aetherblade path or Fotm level 50, that takes ~40 minutes to finish, to get the same rewards as someone farming any of the above mentioned mindless zerging places for 40 minutes is going to hurt the game?
I actually do Fotm 50 everyday. I think the rewards is really good. That is if you actually care about ascended armor of other stats and have a bunch of alts that need gear.
Some path arah p4, SE p2, for example are obviously too long for the rewards. The other arah dungeons people actually run them in dungeon tour group.
My point is aetherblade path can take 20 minutes in a good group. The problem is in a bad pug you probably wipe over and over again.
Why work my way up to harder content if it won’t even improve my chances?
- Could you explain what you mean by “working your way up” to “harder content”?
I’ll give you an example with dungeons:
Spend ~1 hour with a pug in Arah: 3.26 gold, 60 Arah tokens.
Spend ~1 hour with pugs in SE P1+P3 and CoF P1: 3.78 gold, 120 SE tokens, 60 CoF tokens.
Rewards don’t get better as the content gets harder. That’s a problem.
If the rewards get better. You’ll just get pre-made group making ridiculous amount of money.
And Anet dont’ seemed too keen to reward people with too much money.
I do think it is a problem, but I don’t know the solution.
I don’t think it helps that less people is going to orr.
The new maps are taking some of the people who used to farm in orr.
stop talking. That’s the best way.
I was doing the cliff side fractal, and I keep telling people to stop ranging because the boss cast reflect when he have a protection sign up. One of the guy dont’ listen and just says well if everyone is out of range no one will get hit.
Is he right? ya probably. But if he can just stop ranging other people won’t die, he wont’ do damage anyway when the boss hit reflect, but he keep doing it.
Do I keep arguing with him? No. It dont’ help anyone, he made up his mind that he’ll continue doing it.
I can’t remember the last time I got kicked from dungeon or fractal. And I do it daily in pug. Stop arguing people is the best way not to get kick.
you can just use ash legion spy kit.
if you need obsidian shard. you have to open.
I get full set of ventari’s gear and cleric trinket on my guardian and think it’ll make a difference in fotm50.
I rolled swamp and there are 2 spiders and thinking I’ll try to see how well I survive with my ultra healing/tanking/vitality build with mace and shield.
4 second later, I’m dead, so I store my ventari’s gear and never use it again.
That being said, It’s quite fun to wear cleric gear on my warrior on grenth shooting with a rifle afking while watching the pile of corpse on the ground.
I’ll ask a question. How many times have you run the aetherblade path?
Several times, not sure exactly? Probably more than 5, but less than 10.
It’s not as often as I’d like, unfortunately, as the rewards/time are very, very low compared to, say, Arah or AC, and it’s difficult to get a group together for it. There are a lot of posts about why the path is unpopular in the dungeon forum (Look for a locked [Suggestions] thread from a couple months back if you’re really interested). I don’t want to rehash them here, but mainly low rewards and too many time-gated puzzles.
Right. That’s what I’m trying to say. Even if they make new content. If the reward is not good enough people don’t do them.
And in a game which is all about skin. I’m not sure what they going to reward people with. If Anet dont’ make the Aetherblade path skins RNG, maybe more people will run it.
tl;dr What does Guild Wars 2 hope to accomplish in the next few years? What is ArenaNet’s development focus? Will we see more than new open world PvE zerg maps and “accessible to all” (read: impossible to fail) living story instances? From the overwhelming negativity on the forums/reddit (not to mention glassdoor), it sounds like ArenaNet would benefit greatly from sitting down, figuring out what their goals are, and communicating that with their customers.
So you want content that is NOT accessible to all .. to how many percent of the playerbase should it be accessible ? 10 % .. 5% .. 1% ?
Do you think its good to produce content that most players can’t access ?
Maybe you should took a look at Wildstar.
And GW2 was never meant to be a hardcore dungeon/raid grinder. Nearly everything
they said about the game pre release was about the open world.See deSade’s reply, I’m not gonna get drawn into an argument from your angry defense of your strawman.
Suffice to say, LS is in a good place accessibility-wise and fills the role of “available to all” nicely. Personally, I’d like to see more of a challenge (edit, because I apparently wasn’t clear enough: this would be in addition to LS, not to replace it). I’m not demanding one, I’d just like to know if ArenaNet’s interests align with mine.
If you like to discuss the topic of my OP (The policy of eternal silence damaging the community), feel free. Otherwise, start a new thread, please.
I’ll ask a question. How many times have you run the aetherblade path?
I don’t see that many people running around with 15 buff. And the only other sink is 20 slot bag.
I went to play one of those holy trinity mmorpg. And find out how plain the dungeon design is.
Yet the holy trinity mechanism is enough to make some strategy and fun out of really plan boss design.
Anet probably need to work double hard to make interesting fight with their combat system. I think that’s partially what attributes to the lack of adding more dungeons.
And even if they added more dungeon, people are reluctant to do it unless the rewards is really good.
I’m personally a dungeon guy. That’s what keeps me from playing mmorpg. So if anyone tells me dungeon isn’t important, that’s to you, not me.
I just use up the token when I have enough. So I dont’ have space problem.
That being said, you probably want to use up the geodes when you get in to tier 6. That’s the only reason for me to actually stock up those items.
I used to play with someone who play 2 accounts to do cof speed runs. He was actually able to do it quite good.
I’m not sure how he send signals to 2 different screen though.
Anet’s have a policy of 1 signal 1 output. So you can’t press the w key and have both of your accounts move at the same time. You have to control them separately. For example press w to move 1 character forward and use the mouse to move your other character at the same time.
Controlling 2 character at the same time is very difficult to do due to Anet’s policy.
I always thought china’s release is what push back GW2’s plan for expansion.
It makes better financial sense to not release expansion anywhere near the china’s initial release.
That being said, it is just a guess.
I think NCSoft says similar things about expansion last year though, and Anet deny’s it. So it is hard to say what’s going on.
but to me it is academically interesting to know is there is some statistically possible predictability to such an outcome because of limitations in the random generation algorithms.
Do you have any computer program background?
Yes.
So you understand there is basically no random number. The randon number is just the starting number going through a complicated math formula which generated the randon number. And that random number goes through the math formula again to generate the next number.
Weather there is predictability depend on the complexity of the math formula. For example Java use a linear algorithm. And the formula start repeating itself after 2^48 numbers. Which is astronomical big.
Most other programming language use Mersenne Twister. Which is better than Java’s linear algorithm. I presumeit is more complex so it take longer for the computer to process. Java also have a secureRandom function, which is slower but provides better complexity.
Regardless, most programming language “math formula” is complex enough you won’t be able to see runs after an astronomical list of random numbers. For example java’s number only repeat after 2^48 random number is generated.
If there is a pattern, it most likely occurs because for some reason the coder somehow use the same seed number in their coding. For example 2 process use timeoftheday as seed numbers at the exact same time. Or the pool of seed number the program use is very small.
GW2’s game engine is home made. So how GW2 design their loot table, only they know. I dont’ know much about game engine so nothing I can add to that.
but to me it is academically interesting to know is there is some statistically possible predictability to such an outcome because of limitations in the random generation algorithms.
Do you have any computer program background?
I like 2.5
Very simple to add to it is by achievements. After X amounts of tequalt you get a free teq ascended box. After X amounts of lvl80 rare weapon in the mystic forge, you get a free precursor.
java uses http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linear_congruential_generator. It’ll repeat itself after 2^48 numbers (281 ,474 976 ,710 656).
I was playing at 4am eastern time where there are very few people.
Some guy come out and complain that he can’t find an organized map. I think he need to realize there are barely even enough people to fill a farming map. I’m not sure how he can find an organized map at that time.
And I was right. The next day when farming was nerfed. There are barely any players enough to fill an organized map at 4 am anyway.
And about the OP, if you are really the majority, I doubt people will want to stay on an organized map to farm chest. In which I can understand the frustration. You can’t start an empty map, so you can’t just create an empty map and start organizing the events. Which I think is the main problem.

@ Leamas
Why are we talking about single play game?
Only thing one of the repsonse is if you want there are other games to play… and give out a example which happen to be a SRPG game.
(edited by laokoko.7403)
I’ll take your word for it. And buy 6 for 100 gold. I’m not sure how many people stock up on this though. It used to cost 3 gold? each?
Hahaha. Hahahahahaha! Haha. Oh this is funny.
Ok. Ok. Phew. Ok.
So, at the crafting cost of 30 silver each, selling maizebalm will always come at a loss, right? But, hahahaha, ok ok… Sorry. But you know what the best part is? You can only craft 1 maize balm per day per account! Hahahahaha! You’d never get the 100g back before the next Halloween!
Trick or treat!
We are talking about the recipes for the maize balm, not the maize balm itself.
I already made over 400g profit on the recipes during the first buy out of supply.Joke is on you.
Why would it? I didn’t buy an item you inflated for an hour through your post – from 5 to 458 gold to 7 gold. I was talking about the buyers of a recipe that will never make a profit. And yes, of course you made a profit, you’re the one who caused this bubble in the first place!
At least he’s not making rumor about flying pig mount that can be bought with candy corn….
Oh wait, he made similar rumor before with sprocket lol. But take it easy. People are always spaming rumors. I’m willing to take the risk. 100 gold isn’t a big deal to me. It just depends how many hundred if not thousands people stock up. I’m not sure how many Wanz stock up.
And my guess is you stock up on candy corn or bags too, that’s why you are talking about it. Someone says the dev talked about the number of candycorn drop during the events. It’s ridunculous. I can’ remember the number.
edit. Actually here is a quote 10’s of billions of candy corn. I’m not sure if that is actually number or figurative speech.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/bltc/I-have-a-question-about-the-economy/first#post4216795
That post was from July, and it was talking about how much candy corn dropped during year one, and how that impacted year two.
I didn’t notice that. Anyhow people’ll be able to get some cheap bag and double wvw exp now.
So if i ever want to play RIFT again i have now level from 50 to 70 ? And then realize
again that all the good stuff is only gated behind dungeons / raids and all the open
world content just gives crap rewards at max level ?I patched that game meanwhile 4-5 times .. and just logged in sorted the crap in my
mailbox .. and logged out again since i simply don’t feel like doing that again.
If you want to keep doing the lvl50 content for the next 10 year. You can skip buying the expansion.
I know what’s your problem with. You don’t like dungeon and raids, that’s why you complain. Some of us actually like dungeon and raids. And is bothered by playing the same dungeon/raids for 10 years with no expansion.
No, I didn’t play diablo 2 for 10 years. I play it for a few month, and the expnasion for a few month. If they keep giving us new expansion every few month I might keep playing it.
And no, I dont’ play mmorpg to look pretty or wearing super gear to be admired. I mostly play it for challenging pve content. For example fractal is the thing I enjoy the most in GW2.
well the dev says there are 10’s of billions of candy corn dropped.
If that is actual number and not figurative speech, it can provides 3 million 20 slot bag every 10 billion candy corn. I’m not sure there are that many people needing 20 slots bag.
So all we can do is rely on candy corn gobber to eat up the supply…
Hope the price went up a bit so I can recover the money I lost from buying 16 stacks of maize balm at 8 silver.
And there is always next halloween. Judging from what the dev says, I honestly doubt there will be that many candy corn drop next year.
(edited by laokoko.7403)
And you said yourself, people will keep farming it till it is not profirtable. If tier 6 material drop to 16 copper, I can just do a cof in 10 minutes and get 800 tier 6 matieral. Why Would I keep farming the chest.
Don’t think past a week’s time or bring supply/demand into this, that’s not in the spirit of this discussion.
ya I’m getting off topic. All I’m saying is people exaggerated too much to prove a points. I’ll move away.
So how about if they made every item in the game to have a max price of 1G or even make everything free. Everyone would be happy as they’d have everything they wanted. That’s what’s most important, right? That everyone is happy?
The market will correct itself by stabilizing at the price point that matches the new supply level. Just look what the foxfire farm did to elder wood prices? Elder wood prices fell to vendor level because the supply levels quickly surpassed the demand levels. You’ll see the same thing with silk if this continues.
Other items will be more gradual such as tier 5 and 6 fine mats. They have a lower drop rate and are coming from a much higher price point. They will still continue to fall until players do not find it valuable to continue that farm just like when they stopped doing the foxfire farm en masse.
If you have no issue with silk falling to vendor levels again then I’m pretty sure you feel that way about every other item as well. After all, I’m sure you don’t like paying 1K+ for precursors and would prefer them to be at the 250G level or less like someone else wants them.
I’m not really arguing with you with anything besides if you think the SW chest farm(which is just FGS champ farm with 3 times more drop) will make the material price drop to vendor value.
All I’m saying is you exaggerated the effect a bit much.
If I’m a game designer, I’ll probably fix the SW farm myself.
It’s arguably greater than 3 times the drop. You also have much more people doing it than you would see doing the FGS farm.
ok regardless sky isn’t falling. And item price wont’ drop to vendor value. I think the main point is what you said is a bit of exaggeration.
It won’t because they’ll likely fix it before it reaches that point.
ya, whatever. There is no way of proving it anyway.
And seriously, even if you farm for an hour in SW, you’ll only get like 15 tier 6 material. I think you exaggerated the effects a bit, that’s all I’m saying.
One person gets 15 but multiply that across the number of players that are doing it. That’s what you’re missing. If you disagree then look at the price history of tier 6 materials since the 4th.
You said the material price will drop to vendor price. I presume you mean most material price will drop to vendor price if the SW farm continue.
I find that hard to believe that’s all. If I would guess it’ll drop to 10 silver or even 5. But will it drop to 16 copper? I highly doubt it.
And you said yourself, people will keep farming it till it is not profirtable. If tier 6 material drop to 16 copper, I can just do a cof in 10 minutes and get 800 tier 6 matieral. Why Would I keep farming the chest.
