they should at least increase the number of people to kick. 3 or 4.

if 4 random people that don’t know each other want to kick you, and you are the party leader, you probably deserve it.

I think Colin Johanson said a long time ago, if they keep releasing new dungeon, it’ll just keep fracturing the player base.

I get the impression we won’t be seeing major dungeon updates with that interview.

One of the problem I see is since there is no gear tier, even if they release new dungeon, people won’t run it often. I remember running aetherblade TA dungeon a few times. And more often than not, people’ll just say they won’t run it again in the end because it take too long for the reward they receive.

I dont’ see how it matters. how many of last cdi issue were even addressed.

I can only talk about the horizontal progression CDI: tons of it. DryTop looks like a direct result from those thread. Also that they have made the living story repeatable, the permanent missions etc. People who participated in that thread and play the game certainly know.

btw. this suggested sticky-idea is no discussion like the CDIs. It’s a post in each sub which tells us what thoughts Anet has on high priority stuff they’re working on, which gets updated with each new step in that direction which makes it into the game.

Why would this be good? Because we’d know that they have stuff xy in high priority and are working on it.

I’d be happy to see a test-run though, before doing it for every sub. I’m not 100% sure how it will look like.

My point is do they really need the CDI to know what they should change?

Take the things you listed, those are common things people have been complaining for a very long time.

Or take the dungeon leader kick feature in this feature patch. It is something that have been complained on the forum forever.

Since there is no longer dungeon ownership I don’t see why we need to be overprotected on dungeon creator.

Obviously, I understand it have something to do with dungeon selling.

Not necessarily selling dungeons in the sense that I think you’re describing it.
Now me and a friend can wait till the last boss and kick you, invite friends… or sell it. And I’m afraid this will happen to a lot of people as it will be so easy to do.
Doesn’t matter if you opened the dungeon, doesn’t matter if you made the LFG,… there’s pretty much nothing in game preventing me from doing this.

Like I originally said, the update opens the gates to a lot of bad behaviour being possible.

Right, so regardless if you are party leader or not, you and your friends can kick other people too. I understand changing system to say “3 kicks instead of 2”. But I dont’ understand using a system that protect “only” the party leader.

Even if twilight is very common, I would still want one. I dont’ care if twlight is not rare.

I think some poster’s assumption is people want twilight only because it is rare.

Most people want it because it’s rare. It’s valuable because there is a high demand, and the demand comes from the fact that it is extremely rare. Note that “most people” is not “everyone.” That a tiny minority of players just like the look and don’t care about rarity/bragging rights doesn’t change the fact that the majority do care.

That is actually untrue right? Dusk and Dawn are even more common than torch precursor(since so many people mystic forge them), yet they are more expensive.

People want them because they are prestige. Obviously being rare plays a roll on prestige but rarity isn’t the only part to make it prestige.

Anet probably just keep delaying because if they release everything now, people’ll run out of things to do soon anyway.

So they try to keep things like new legendary or precursor hunting spread out in GW2’s life cycle.

Maybe we’ll see new legendary in 2015, precursor hunt in 2016, legendary amulet in 2017, legendary armor in 2018…. GW3 in 2020.

It would take tens of thousands of developers to keep up with the rate at which players can (potentially) consume content. If it takes 50-100 people to produce x in a year, how many would it take to produce x in a day?

An entire team’s work for a year, completed in one day.

If it is doable , can you name a single MMO that has released an entire expansion every day for a year ? Even one example.

The reality is you have to put grind in mmorpg right?

But there is a difference between really boring grind, and some what more fun grind with depth.

I consider the grind in GW2 really boring grind.

i’am sorry, but

  • Having to do more that 50time a boring dungeon to get a complet exotic armor + 2-3weapons for me its farming.
  • Having to collect 900+ mcm insignia just for a complet exotic armor, for me its farming
  • I dont speak about Ascended gear which is CLEARLY farming.
  • And i dont even speak about the necessity to have serveral stats to be able to correctly play 2-3 differents builds per char : which mean repeat X time the previews farm to play decently ONE class.
  • And i forget to add the necessity of having X version of the same armor / weapon because of runes / sigils.

Yeah sure, no need to farm in GW2.. sure ! Are we really playing the same game ?

Wow … you don’t need to do any of that. A full set of anything exotics is about 60-70 gold. You’re just being sensational.

However, the replies are always the same. People constantly bash the individual and announce that the game is basically perfect and that nothing needs to be changed.

I don’t think you and I go to the same forums…

This made me laugh. It’s true though. There are far more people attacking me for being a “fan boy” or “white knight” as there are people attacking people for their complaints. I don’t see a lot of people being attacked for their views in the trait feedback thread as an example.

It’s kind of easy to get agreement on something so universally bad. =P

Still, it’s okay to ask for features. What’s unnecessary is the constant vomit of bile that comes from some people, while others are trying to either make valid points or, even better, give the design team ideas by providing a method to achieve what it is they want.

So, complain, no.
Solve, yes.

Most game I saw wait very long time to resolve players complaint. It usually take a expansion or big update change so people might be complaining half to a year before the complaint is addressed.

The thing is the game have been out for nearly 2 years. I’m not sure if they even going to have a big expansion, and if the expansion will create a big overhaul and changes to the current system like other games have. When other games make a new expansion it is like playing a completely new game.

But it is very possible same item been generate because the random generator feed the same information more than once to different query.

That being said I think it is just people being paranoid. I don’t think there are even that many equipment item in a level range. So it is very likely you just happen to roll the same item twice.

You can make gold from doing pretty much every activities in the game. And in turn you can use that gold to buy the exotic gear on the trading post. Or even ascended gear.

Obviously the problem is some activities just generate way more gold. So people just do the same activities over and over again because that is the most efficient way to get gold fastest.

You dont’ need to do the same dungeon 50 times to get exotic gear. Just spread your time to do different activities in the game.

That being said, some of the more expensive item (ascended or legendary), the trend is people will do the same boring grind over and over again. Because even using efficient way of making money will take a while.

Dev's Wasting Time & Effort?

At any rate, I also think Anet is working on something much bigger.

You been saying that last year.

And last year they were, you saw the results in April. Those kinds of changes aren’t programmed in a week or two.

I’m not the one complaining. Other people are complaining about the lack of content they want. Or the lack of content. Or they think the April patch is lackster.

What I means is that the devs have been constantly working on “big projects” since the game launched. The projects themselves change, but they are being worked on. People, especially younger generations, have become trained to expect instant responses, instant results, but to make big changes to a living, interactive program like an MMO takes a lot of time and effort, and sometimes things happen in the background that change the direction of other things that we never even see.

No one at Anet is ignoring the game, or wasting players’ time. But people need to realize that what an individual wants is not always what is best for the game, and sometimes not possible to put into the game without breaking other things.

That’s what I been saying. You guys are talking about how the game will get better, and there are big project working on the background etc etc. Which is the same thing being said, last year, or even more than that 18 month ago.

Regardless if the players are self entitled for more content. I think people get sick of hearing "it’ll get better, and new hidden big project coming soon. Remember the time marketing says “an expansion worth of content” and everyone get hyped? well player are disappointed, and the dev come out and apologize even saying they dont’ meant to say that, the marketing make them said it.

All those really grindy korean mmorpg at least give people new farm area or dungeon every few month. People will move to the new farm area because it give better gold/hour.

I’m not sure why you keep bashing a game which make much much more money than gw2.

Regardless on how much less subscriber they have, they are still much much more than gw2.

I didn’t bash WoW. I made a statement defending Guild Wars 2 against someone who bashed Guild Wars 2 in favor of WoW, on a Guild Wars 2 forum. Now if you didn’t have bias, you’d be admonishing that guy, and not the guy kittenponded to him with now a quote from the president of Blizzard saying they’re bleeding subs.

Now, it’s true that WOW is going to make more money in that time period than Guild Wars 2, just as McDonalds makes more money than the steakhouse around the corner from my old place of business, which was awesome. It’s much better than McDonalds, but it will never make as much money.

The point is that I responded to an unreasonable post, and the people who don’t like this game are perfectly willing to come out against my perfectly normal response, and they’re just as perfectly willing to ignore the post I was responding too, which was, if not demonstrably wrong, at least very very easy to question.

Sell everything that’s not profitable to salvage or at least break even.

The thing to me is always if you care about money that much. Take a mining pick and farm rich iron or platinum node(especailly if you have watchwork mining pick), or try one of the fast farming methods.

I just think manual checking every single item to decide if it is better to salvage or sell just take too much time, you are better of just salvage everything and spend time doing other methods of farming.

In sure it’s not the developers fault and may be that they are restricted and controlled by managers or ncsoft.

So why should I suffer with them when I could play a game that’s thriving ?

Facts? lmao

The fact is, according to the NCsoft quarterly report, the game is doing well. According to both Overwolf and Raptr, the game is doing well. According to logic (since they’re hiring not firing) the game is doing well.

On what do you base your “fact”?

I’m pretty sure I just read that WoW lost 2 million subscribers in a very short period of time. That’s about a loss of 25% of their player base.

Maybe you need to do a bit of research before quoting “facts”.

Time for us to embrace new definitions. “Not doing well” equals Hiring new employees."Thriving " = losing 25 % of your player-base.

I’m not picking side. But quite honestly judging from the percentage of people who have “very very very low” AP point looking at the AP board. It’s not exactly like GW2 have great retention rate.

Though I understand that is expected, since many people just want to try the game to see if they like, and many actually don’t enjoy GW2 when they tried so they quit the game. But in the long run, I think GW2 retention rate should be decent, because there is no monthly fee.

Anet too scared to release actual data dont’ make them any better.

You are pointing your finger at companies who actually release info, compare to a company who is too scared to release any info.

As a public company BOTH games release info and I’m surprised you’re not aware of it. But since Anet doesn’t have subscriptions, it can’t release subscriber numbers, which should come as no surprise to anyone.

It releases profit statements. WoW doesn’t release that it lost 2 million subscribers because they’re brave. They have to release that information by law to their subscribers or they can be sued. They have no real choice.

Anet also releases quarterly reports to their investors, so anyone can see how much profit this game makes.

It’s massively entertaining to me that anyone would think that Blizzard releases figures because they’re somehow braver than another company.

It’s not said by me. Colin Johanson says in one of his video, the marketing team don’t want to release those info.

I can’t remember the exact quote. Basically I think it is a video talking about one of the patch. And Colin Johanson says something like the population number is looking great. But the exact population number is something the marking dont’ want to disclose.

I’m not sure why you keep bashing all the game on the market. Quite honestly, I’m not sure if GW2 quarterly sales is better than some of the game you bashed before. Because some of those games have premium and a large percent of people actually subscribe.

But leveling to 400 on 8 crafting discipline won’t take too long, and is enough to get you 56 level. If you have a birthday booster, you can add in 20 more level.

Most players have a few hundreds playing hours, or even thousands of playing hours, I’m not sure why spending a little time crafting up is such a big deal. I probalby have like 20+ lvl80 toons, and did use crafting to fast track and quick leveling. I dont’ know what’s the big deal on spending a tiny amount of time crafting.
