Issues with graphical stutters

Would you be able to possibly use quicktime to record this happening and upload it to say youtube or some other source and share it so we can see it happening. Without being able to see it makes it hard to diagnose. I work in IT and would be glad to offer any advice but makes it hard when we cannot see it. From what you have described and i’m just spitballing as it could be a number of things. I would say seems like may be the graphics card going bad. As that would be the first indication of graphical stuttering, it could also be the CPU or a bad sector on the HDD there are really a number of like I said reasons this could be happening so please try and record.

Also do you have Apple care?

Honestly, seems any time a post like this pops up it seems to fall on deaf ears. I know I started one. It seems Anet really only cared about the bottom dollar and getting there money anyway they could. So they created a GW2 mac client in beta but really its just a client with a wrapper far from the real thing and have never even touched on the subject of bringing a full on native client to life. At this point I will play and enjoy guild wars 2 but I highly doubt I will ever invest in this company again. Let alone will I ever purchase anything in game with real money. I will soley play it based on the fact that it is free and I enjoy it. As far as the lackluster support for Mac goes though I am done Anet has drawn there line in the sand and refuses to seem to cross it so to speak.

They see these posts and In my year and a half roughly+ of play I have yet to see anyone actually comment on to the status or even if a native client is something we can ever really count on. As far as i’m concerned there silence to this subject is a clear indication of what we can expect.

Wow boast much. You were wrong you stated that users had already claimed to have had issues with Yosemite that was a complete lie. There was no other thread at the time complaining of issues. You really just need to leave these forums Foxx. As for Gorilla I would suggest you do a Time Machine restore then reinstall beta. It works just fine. The only issue I have seen is the 0000009 which was just a bug that carried over from prior GW2 issues where you just need to unplug the power cord then launch game and plug back in.

Yosemite is a beta and you should never ever install it on your main machine. Yeah it is quite possible that the game will continue to work as it has been, but there have been people who have had problems, and if you have a serious problem you can’t get support either from Apple or from Arenanet – because it is a beta OS and you are installing at your own risk.
The only reason to install a beta is if you have a genuine reason to test out features. So pretty much, unless you’re a developer why would you need to install an incomplete, unoptimised operating system…

Funny I don’t see a single thread talking about issues with Yosemite.

As for me I am running Yosemite on my main machine all I suggest is make a time machine backup that way if something does go wrong you can revert. Otherwise it is not really for anyone to tell you how to use your personal property. Flaming Foxx just likes to I think see themselves talk in these threads so many times I see them respond and with no real validity to much of what is being said (/VENT)

All in all I am running iOS 8 beta 4 on my iPhone 5s and running public beta Yosemite and everything is running fine. I am running both as my daily driver. Have tested Guild Wars 2 and TS3 and both work just fine. Along with anything else I run.

EDIT: Also its funny you say that its a beta and beta’s are unsupported I think thats how many of us feel in these forums. Specifically pertaining to Mac. Just ironic and I’m quite certain that Apple would support it’s own open beta possibly even better than Anet has handled its supposed beta client issues with Guild Wars 2. Please for the sake of all of us and your general asinine statements leave this thread be.

I wonder if Anet has anything to say or concerns to the fact that there decision making or lack there of however you want to wrap it up has caused some great players to leave. I am not going to name names we all know who they are. The fact though that time and time again we have asked for certain fixes be applied and Anet has gone in to forums asking for players to do their jobs in feedback related thread regarding bugs and bug fixes that players want to see and not acting on roughly 95% of those in the case of Mesmer is just baffling to me. I just honestly don’t see the sense in what Anet has and is doing with “Class Balance” or “Bug Fixing” as has been stated several times they have just fixed a bug that really was never even prior addressed as being a bug yet fail to fix a countless number of bugs that actually do effect the Viability of this class. It reminds me a lot of other failed business cough (Sony Online with Star Wars Galaxies). Any of you that played SWG prior to NGE know exactly what I am talking about. This company is taking what was and still is in many ways a great game and just walking it by the hand straight off a cliff. If they continue to just ignore community outcries for actual bug fixing pertinent to class balance and overall viability then they will soon find a community much to that of SWG post NGE.

In closing I would love to hear the remarks from someone from Arena Net regarding what there reasoning is behind this patch with the so called fixes they have made for Mesmers specifically and what they plan to do in the what I would presume would be very near future to circumvent a mass halt of people playing/leaving this class/game.

I just experienced this yesterday, running AC p3 had a condi mesmer and a survival Ele both had ice bows and neither could solo a mound. nuff said.

Some pretty interesting ideas here. I was actually spit-balling some ideas on how to address this today. This has always been something that has bothered me, too.
For example:
Have kits respect the existing back item flag. If you have a back item and you want to show it, hide the kit. If you don’t have a back item or choose to hide it, always show the kit. Obviously this makes it a little harder than usual to tell what kit you are using, so:
A nameplate icon similar to Elemental Attunements would be a good addition (I may add this regardless if we can get the art )
Move the kit somewhere else on your body. I know, crazy right? For example, who doesn’t like a sweet fanny-pack?
Hopefully this finally gets resolved soon, and I’ll do what I can to see that happen. Keep in mind, as Colin mentioned before, that there are some pretty beefy projects going on that are consuming our engineering time. But that doesn’t exactly mean we can’t sneak stuff in here and there .

I just had this exact issue on my macbook in the case of the macbook it was a matter of unplugging and then restarting the game then plugging back in. Since you are on an iMac I would suggest unplugging after power down and let it sit fora few minutes then plug back in power back on while holding down command option P and R and try resting the pram possibly. Then try running game

The key difference in the beta you are talking about with Google and the beta we have been running for far to long is that Google was not running through a wrapper as stated above. Your point is so mute it should be deleted honestly If in fact we were in a native client beta this conversation and post would have never occurred as well as many others of the same format. This is no fashion a true to form beta it is a cheap mockup so to speak. I can in a matter of minutes or so wrap gw2 and play it myself through parallels or wine or any number of wrappers. What Anet has done is nothing to be impressed by, I would be impressed if as I stated before we ran a beta of an actual native client.

same thing just happened to me. Trade was working momentarily tried selling it hung and said error pulled the item out of inventory and did not take on trade post. GG im out of here before I say something I really won’t regret lol

None of your complaints will be resolved with a magic unicorn “native Mac client.” In fact, such could very well be worse that the current client. The current client, of course, has issues. What does beta software mean to you, anyway?

Also, the shift keys, used for writing proper sentence case so readers can understand you, are on both the right and left corners of your keyboard. Try using the correct word; “you”, not the letter “u”. This will aid in getting people to respect what you write and not get the impression that you’re illiterate, lazy or stupid. I had to read your post three times to understand it.

You clearly have no understanding as to programming and the nature of it. The two clients would not be in any way better or worse. The fact of the matter is we are running a Windows based client with a Cider Wrapper around it. Its just a fancy way for saying a lazy mans client. A native client in every way would be better. As by using the Windows based with a wrapper we are limited in what our system specs can actually accomplish. Maybe do some research before making statements that are just plain ignorant.

Love to see a screenshot of your so called working trade post I have logged in twice and it is certainly not working. Such a let down of a game at this point. Then you get people who I honestly doubt are even mac users falsely reporting that things are working when they are most certainly not.

yep same here I even looked in to filing a formal complaint through the BBB but of course Anet is not registered on the BBB. So we are just stuck wondering why investing in to this company is a rationale idea any more. I am and have been so fed up with their overall lack of ability and concern to fix this. Implementing self fixes with the end user having to rename a file then download then install and patch slightly then delete rename and relaunch being the last work around. This is just pathetic honestly and so beyond the point of toleration.

And just to clarify mac doesn’t have a client right now. If you knew anything Mac has a Wrapper. Thus ANET is not actually doing anything they are merely coding the game for Windows while the devs of CIDER are the ones putting in the work. Lets not go giving credit where its really not due.

How about how much money they have made of us Mac users, and patience 2 years I am sure is enough time to get such minute things like a working trade post isn’t to much to ask for. This is going on a week of complete unusability now. Not to mention how little it has worked up to this point. Having to log out repeatedly just to get the trade post to load prior to this.

This is such B/S I guarantee we will magically see a patch for this when they release this large patch on the 16th or whenever its due to drop. I am so beyond fed up with Anet and its inability to support platforms that it states it supports. It is bad enough there still is not a native mac client and that going on 2 years of beta. I would love to see a spreadsheet of how much money Anet has made from us Mac users since release. So that when people on this platform start walking away Anet cannot sit there scratching their heads wondering what just happened.

This is just pathetic and the fact that there is none from anet to step up and say a thing is even more grand. Truly just horrid support for the Mac. That certainly explains the absurdly low priority level we’re given. I mean we all knew it but seeing it stated in an official capacity stings a bit. It also explains why the mac client isn’t tested after each patch/build independently, if it was this current bug that dropped people from 40fps down to 8fps wouldn’t have gone live I’d hope.

Either way I’m still happy to know that the devs recognize we still exist at least in some capacity and things are being done to right this wrong.

Please don’t read that the wrong way. That means we don’t have a team for each discipline, but that anyone on our team may work on either. This is a good thing, as far as I can see.

I then wondered how fast other things such as youtube and other locations loaded and they are blazing now. So I delve a bit deeper wondering how this would impact my Guild Wars 2 Game play and I am sitting at around 50 fps now and have amazingly noticeable speed increases in load times as well. So hope this helps anyone that wants to give it a go.

It’s funny they say they support mac and dev’s are working on a fix and that they have mac users in mind and blah blah blah future updates, look back over 6 months ago where people asked about a native client and the response we got from that there was a response along the lines of we are working on information and will let people know and nothing complete silence. I am ok with my forum account being blocked or whatever ridiculous thing that the mods feel like doing. Everyone has an opinion and should be free to voice it. Life and this game are not all cherries and puppy dogs. Sometimes the truth is not a nice thing and thats fixable but this game seems far from that so many patches have been pushed with so little attention to the people that spend hard earned money while playing from a mac go completely ignored. Personally I am just waiting on something better to come along with actual native mac support not a shell or vmware not using crossover or any sort of gimmicky client in that way.

Not right now no. The current state of our Mac client which isn’t native it’s a cider wrapper is a bit of a joke. I would hold find something else your friend likes. The Mac support is pretty horrendous. I would not recommend this game to anyone in its current state and probably at all ever again.

Yea, again Mavericks was out long before these happened myself and my wife both have been running Mavericks since days one the TGupdate just started happening on the dec 10 patch. If others have had this issue they did not make it known as if you check the topics most of these are popping up right after dec 10.

Right, i understand what your both saying and Foxx Mavericks I really cannot see how it would be an issue as Mav has been out since before these problems started occurring most of it started around Tower of Madness and the most recent dec 10th patch has caused the biggest issues. None of this was problematic prior and many were running mavs.

I am helping my wife figure out a solid build for overall pve, that would be viable in dungeons some low level fracas and open world is there a current meta? or any recommendations she already has full zerker with sholar runes and has a GS/axe mace running currently something like what nike suggest in his most recent video. I believe its a 25/30/0/0/15 I may have the first two mixed but something like that and she says it seems a bit squishy.

I am just so disheartened at this point from the overall seemingly lack of concern for the Mac community as a whole. I have bounced around several important topics here and have seen absolutely nothing out of Arena Net for fixes or input. Truly makes me reconsider purchasing not just 1 but 2 copies of this game and putting more than enough of my time and money in to the gem store and game. I just find it very unfortunate for the Mac community as a whole as this is not just off-putting for me but I am certain several others throughout this community that are having a bit of second thoughts on backing this company.
