<snort> Funny how other games manage simple FIFO queues OK and even manage to let players know their places in the queue. Yes and the last statement does say something about their lack of priority for WvW.I mean these guys are a subsidiary of NCSoft, which is very big company and they’re not exactly poor or unsuccessful! So if someone had to stump up a bit of cash to get something across the line with the potential to recoup and make more, it is there.
NCSoft appears clearly to be taking an excessive portion of the games revenue and not letting anet have enough to properly support the game. They clearly don’t have the resources to properly support it.

My concern is that your QA is inadequate and you’ll launch them with bugs that render them unplayable.

They actually can get exotic gear from wvw with karma orr gear and/or turning in badges. It just takes longer.
But not with the optimum stats.
Also I don’t see how you make rewards for standing guard that wouldn’t be easily abused. PvE people would be coming in parking their characters in some safe keep, racking up karma/exp or whatever. And probably being AFK when the attack finally does show up anyway.
Thats probably right but then anet shouldn’t make the increase so massive, make it 15, and remove the ability to contest a keep/tower by only 1 person.
Before anyone says that player only info and scouting makes for skilled play, they better ask their guild and find out who the 5-10 people are that are going to volunteer to spend their entire play period standing on a keep wall for hours, and if they are lucky maybe being able to call out help for one fight the entire night.
Which is exactly why there needs to be rewards for doing that. More and more this looks to be the sort of change that anet makes without properly considering all the factors.

1) They need to remove gate tagging to contest a keep/tower. You should have a combination of minimal players (say 5-10 in area) and/or a damage percentage (say 10-15% dmg to wall or gate) before a keep becomes contested. (white swords).

This is a bad change. It means even more PvDoor.
Sending one person to contest a structure is going to be way too good, because every time it happens, you are going to have to rush people there, or keep a permanent scout at every single location, which is very boring for that player.
Which is why they have to increase the rewards for those players. ANd IMHO 24 is too much, it should have been around 15.
The poor scouts who have to sit in every kitten tower for hours on end now. I call not it.

Very few people offered unedited videos of what they do with their time. Players were unable to post logs do to the removal of that system. Without said evidence its all just hearsay.
As I’ve said before its unrealistic to have expected this level of evidence, plus the issue of making comparisons back to before Nov 15 when people had no reason to record their drops.
And besides Colin Johanson’s post has actually confirmed that the anecdotal evidence was correct.

Guilds are getting improved in the patch later this month. SPvP has been improved quite a bit over the past few months. It’s up to you to log-in and check for yourself.
Guild mgt tools are still non existant and apparently will remain so. The new Guild missions won’t change that.
sPVP is still 1 game type and remains boring for any extended period of play.
As for the OPs question I think they listen but they don’t have the resources to fully support the game and their priorities are skewed.
I miss Blackgate.
In an ideal world we would have a SoR/SoS/BG matchup.

The answer actually does cover the loot drops across the board not just Vet and Champs. Whether the solution will do what we want is another thing however.
DR is another issue but it appears to address the issue of people seemingly having permanent DR.
And have they actually deleted that thread, I just thought they must have unstickied it and its slipped. Pretty bad if they’ve deleted it, smacks of censorship.

JQ and SBI had to battle for 2nd for months. Nothing new in T1. Besides, JQ won the weekend by quite alot, was that purely down to numbers?

Well cool that sounds great in a general sense. But what actual ideas are being considered and what is being implemented? Are they actually good ideas? We players should be informed of their plans, give our opinions, before Anet spent man-hours on these ideas.
That actually flies in the face of the recent queue issues seemingly to do with anet reducing the population on the maps.

Like someone above said, the pressure to have it all now is entirely put upon you by . . .YOU. Just play the game, have fun earning it.
If one mainly plays WvW then it is an advantage to have better stats no matter how slight so it isn’t necessarily a matter of taking ones time.
There is also the fact that anet did promise that top level stats would be available without or with minimal grind. They have broken that promise. The laurels are a grind even if its not difficult.

Rankings are now stable except for T8.
We’re still in Tier 1, we didn’t have many losses but Jade Quarry gained a lot hence they are the top server now. We are competitive for places 2 and 3 in T1 with SOR currently and Blackgate and maybe Kaineng in the future. There’s plenty of WvW guilds to join.
In terms of PvE there’s always a lot of activity in Orr with the temples being opened frequently and always a group at the dragon events.
With regard to spikeroot. AFAIK it can’t be put in inventory can it? So 1 would have to pick it up in the Caledon forest then port to WvW and use it once.
There’s a scavenger hunt on the way, which is addressing the issue of precursors.
Actually the last time anet spoke about this they said it was on the backburner.

Actually no the situation in T8 is a clear illustration of why the system isn’t fine and its got nothing to do with transfers.

Well, considering the Exotic Invader’s Ring costs 396 Badges of Honor, I’d say fat chance at that exchange rate.

Yeah but invaders gear is so far overpriced its not funny. Its like anet didn’t what the average badge drop would be and I guess they’re afraid of lowering the price now because some (a minority) would cry foul.

Some people have bought it but I agree it doesn’t look great. This is the sort of thing they should be selling but better designed.
It does not have to be nonsense. We do not know what the factors for kill credit are.
Maybe one of it is how fast you kill an enemy. If you solo, most of the time you will need a certain amount of time to kill the champ/ vet.
If kill credit depends on speed, you would not get kill credit.
But you can get event credit and xp, because these do not seem to be depending on kill speed.

This doesn’t even matter those who do get kill credits can get white loot anyway which is in contravention of what anet said would happen after the Nov 15 patch.
I was more making note of:
Dragonbrand – Moved UP from T4 to T3 – Took Second place.
Borlis Pass – Moves Down from T5 to T6, Took a close 2nd
And these aren’t the only 2 examples, there’s SOR when they vaulted up, TC moving to T2, YB when they moved to T3.
TBH the only argument against that holds water is the proposition that 1st and 2nd place will probably gang up on 3rd place
I’m not really sure why we would assume ArenaNet was going to be any different than any other MMO company out there. Because they sell their in-game gold for gems, they’re going to micromanage the game economy to ensure that things are not too easy to get. This shuttles people into the cash shop. They do it because it works. They know that if the pain of achieving something is just high enough to get most people to buy their way into it, they will.
Well I may be naive but I didn’t expect that they would compromise the game to the extent they have. There’s also the fact that the gem shop has few items really worth buying.
You sound like the only reason you have to play games is to get some payout of pixels and if there is no pixel jackpot to be had you can’t see the purpose in a video game.
The motivation underlying that attitude is actually a goal oriented one so I don’t see why its so bad.
I’ll answer that. You do the dungeons because they are fun. You get 100% map completion because the zones are fun (and they recently increased the rewards for this). You play sPvP for fun. You see what I’m saying? There doesn’t have to be a point! It’s a game, play it for enjoyment, relaxation, the thrill, the fun, or for whatever other reason you want!
Doing the same dungeon more than a few times isn’t fun.
The open world zones the hearts and DESs end up being very samey and trite.
sPvP becomes boring with the same game type every match.
I’ll add in crafting, getting sufficient mats for crafting is impossible without a unacceptable grind and this has flow on effects in terms of making it hard to experiment with different load outs.
The game mode that is dynamic and hence replayable over a long period is WvW yet it is hamstrung by severe issues and anet gives short thrift to it .

Yes drop rates are very low in GW 2…
Drop rates are very low in ANY game released in 2012 that had some kind of CASH SHOP where you can buy gold with real money…
The lesson for the future 2013 onwards if a game has a cash shop in any form at all, drop rates are going to be abysmal…

I 100% agree with you OP. Let us all hope TESO learns from GW2’s mistakes and gives the proper amount of attention to WvW or RvR PvP.
Given that the RvR PVP will be the only form of PvP at launch (no small scale battleground type PvP) I think they will.

If you’re not receiving loot from a champ/vet, it’s most likely because you’re not getting kill credit. We’re currently working on some improvements to this so that it will be easier to get rewards when you kill a creature.

No server wins due to skill, any win is purely due to coverage. It was the same when SOS was winning and its the same now with JQ.
I agree we have coverage but we worked hard for that to happen. JQ put in the effort to invite guilds from other servers and we would invite you so we know we would always stay strong. Coverage doesn’t happen by itself. Success never happens by itself.
SOS was successful and I for sure would want SOS to stay in tier one. What “skill” did SOS execute to maintain number one? Anyone can say coverage, but it takes skill to have “good” coverage.
Skill in marketing yourself on the forums? Big deal, thats got nothing to do with skill ingame which is whats under discussion. SOS did actually try and recruit but got laughed at because we had won for however many weeks in a row at that point.
This has been an interesting thread. The problem is that it’s mostly all anecdote. There’s no concrete anything in any part of this.
No offence but what do you (and anet if they think similarly) expect from players? Of course its going to be anecdotal if you really think many players are going to sit down and fill in a spreadsheet to track their drops then I’ve got a bridge to sell you. Plus there’s the fact that as pointed out early in this thread its largely about drops now compared to drops before the Nov 15 patch, why would players be expected to track loot before then?
The sheer amount of anecdotal evidence both here and in other threads is enough to paint a picture of the poor loot drops experienced by a lot of people. And there is plenty of actual detail about champions and veterans clearly not dropping the loot they are supposed to according to the patch notes.
I know many have said JQ haven’t been winning due to skills but because of coverage. I do want to point it out that it takes mad skills to communicate, coordinate and organize the coverage we have. JQ is a team.

Trying to think of an MMO that made successful substantially large scale PvP changes six months in. Maybe I missed one? Most AAA MMOs at this point are trying to figure out if they should go free-to-play right now because of all the problems and player exodus.
How large scale are they really? Culling perhaps but then again it should never have launched in that state. If they had actually shown they were working on these issues and given some changes as they went along like they have done with PvE then it might have been a different story but my perception is that they didn’t start to work seriously on the progression stuff and culling itself until months after the game released, and they’re clearly not working on improving grouping options or the commander functionality at all.
Its pretty said that an overall inferior game like swtor launched with say far better and easier to use grouping and guild options than gw2
Yeah the umtenth thousand game of hutball was GREAT! What guild bonuses did SWToR have that were worth anything? SWToR had really flawed light/dark PvP system and it didn’t even offer anything of significant scale with the exception of Illum which was… a complete disaster. Even though its budget was substantially larger. I love Bioware (especially pre-EA) but SWToR was a hot mess.
Thats pretty much a strawman, you;re arguing things that I’m not talking about. But to answer 1 thing, guild management tools were better in swtor than they are in GW2 even now.
