An expand/collapse all toggle should have been in at release.
Having a few players with lots of gold will not impact the gem exchange rate in any meaningful way because there is a limited number of things to spend gems on, thus the wealthy players have a lower demand for gems because they already own the things that can be bought with them.
Having all players with more gold WILL impact the gem exchange because they are now ALL participating in exchanging their extra gold for gems to buy a few items.
The Gold to Gem ratio is based on player transactions.
If most players are buying gems with cash and converting them to gold, then the gold cost of buying gems goes down.
If most players are buying gems with gold, then the gold cost of buying gems goes up.
So with the recent increase in the gold price, we know that most players are buying gems with gold.
So the question is, what has caused this trend?
Obviously the increase in liquid gold via the daily reward means that ALL players now have more gold available to spend on gems, so that’s definitely part of it.
The steady stream of sales and limited time offers is also acting as an incentive for people to convert their gold into gems as well.
There may be other factors at play as well, but the point is that until some factors change, or new factors push in the other direction, we aren’t going to see the ratio go down.
You omitted the primary source of cloth and leather, which is bags.
You can have as much cloth and leather as you want if you focus on killing humanoid enemies of the appropriate level since they all drop bags, and the bags all have around a 30% chance to give you cloth or leather.
You’re right, I did leave those out. However, the cloth and leather you get out of them are level dependent. So lower level mats don’t drop as your character increases level. This is why high level mats aren’t so expensive, but does nothing to fix the shortage of low level mats.
Also I didn’t mention the special nodes you can get for the home instance for cloth and leather, because those require gems and shouldn’t be considered since most people won’t have access.
I mean the loot bags, not the champ bags. The items that come out of loot bags are based on the loot bag, and the loot bag drops are based on the enemy’s level not yours.
If I take my level 80 to Lornar’s Pass to kill bandits, the bags they drop give me level 40 range leather and cloth.
Kill humanoid enemies of the appropriate level. They drop loot bags. Loot bags have a 15% or so chance of dropping cloth.
It is the fastest way to farm cloth.
Bonus: it is also farming leather at the same time, which you can sell for lots of gold and use to buy more cloth.

Complaining about things that are badly designed only works when someone who matters is listening.
The issue is that most people wanted the story to be “look at how I got my Precursor in 10 minutes at no cost!”
Let’s face it, the idea of solo queuing into anything that resembles “balanced” is a pipe dream. Restricting the number of professions per team won’t fix anything (but it may wind up significantly increasing your queue times).
You’d think that they’d deactivate the process for taking away the HoM access now that the previous issue was resolved. It’s pretty annoying to have this happen every time GW1 servers have an issue.
I’d also like to request that guild bank slots also gain the ability to auto-stack when adding or removing things from them.
I had an idea (similar to Jski) where our existing profession feature line would be updated to be an Elite as well (including buffs), and then mandate that the 3rd line always use an Elite line.
So Rangers would be required to carry either Beastmastery or Druid, Elementalists wold be required to carry either Arcane or Tempest, etc.
This idea may be better suited for when an additional Elite gets added so you have 3 options rather than 2.
Removing even more options? No thanks. We used to have access to all five lines at once (thousands of permutations). Now we have three (120 permutations). You’re suggesting we are forced into a more limited combination of three (24 permutations).
I think that they’ve already proven that they can’t handle balancing the ones we have, so limiting the combinations further should actually make the game better.

You have 24 whole hours to get your dailies done, and you’re complaining about a once a month or so event where you, through your own lack of action, have decided to cram your dailies into a half an hour before reset? Even then downloading the new build is a matter of seconds and restarting the game a matter of a minute. I don’t see how there’s a problem here.
As already mentioned, a large number of people are adults with real life things to do and the timing of the daily reset does not fit well with their adult real life schedules.
The problem is definitely one that exists for some people.
To the OP: The update was a high priority one since PvP was being impacted which is why they dropped the patch as soon as it was ready.
I guess I still don’t understand how, in a 24 hour time period, an update once in a while before reset is an issue. There’s a whole world of players out there. Please explain who these “large numbers of adults” are with their “real life things to do” that have such poor time scheduling that, over the course of one THOUSAND, four HUNDRED and forty minutes in the entire day, they can’t somehow deal with downloading an update and reloading the game which takes maybe 2 minutes tops.
Honestly, if these large numbers of adults are so poorly organized that they can’t schedule their gaming time, the timing of an occasional update is the least of their worries.
If you have only an hour or two to play and that hour or two happens to be split across reset time, you get between 30 minutes and 1 hour to get your dailies done. Some days that is really easy. Some days it isn’t. If you have a day where it isn’t AND you have to log out and wait for an update you lose out on your daily.
Gaming is a recreational activity. That means that for adults, you fit it into whatever time you have left over after all of the actual life stuff is done. You don’t necessarily get to decide when that is.
Stacking behind the pillar pulls the ranged adds into the stack.
I dislike how marks are all loaded onto the staff and none on other weapons. It makes the traits for them very one dimensional and the staff weapon very limited in function.

What is preventing the AFK detection from working? Is it auto-cast, auto-run, and/or auto-loot? If so, just make the AFK detection system ignore those things for purposes of checking “are you there?”.
Let’s not forget that the new daily reward is 2g in pure currency which increases the ability of all players to convert gold into gems which will drive the ratio that direction.
Flipping is an important part of the TP.
It’s also an innate problem with the current state of the TP, that is being abused by the minority.
So, why not fix said issue ?
How is it a problem?
How is flipping to manipulate market cost not a problem ?
Why is it that the most profitable way to play the game, is in playing the market and not the game itself. Had this discussion before, the trading post needs to be treated less like commodities exchange more like a centralized trade hub especially considering there is no point to point trade.
Every single player is now getting more gold for their Mystic Coins which they are given for free. That doesn’t sound like a problem to me.
Implying every single player is selling them which is part of the problem.
If everyone was selling the market would bottom out at the 2 silver mark they used to be. Though that issue was due to the surplus being generated which was fixed by removing them from the daily and monthly rewards and by adding more sinks for them in new legendaries / recipes.
Implying nothing. Every single player can now sell them for more gold per coin. Some players choose not to sell. Some players choose not to wait and pay a premium for saving time. Instant Gratification is the driving force behind all virtual economies. The price isn’t high because of any problem, it is high because many players want their item right now.

But yes, very analogous to real life. :P
Except that in real life I don’t get 20 [insert valuable luxury item] dropped into my mailbox every month just for waking up.
Precursor crafting should have been a much slower but much cheaper way to get a precursor (requiring very little in gold or mats that could be turned into gold), making a nice dichotomy with buying one off the TP, which is expensive but instantaneous.
Anet, who as always only care about the robber barons and their play economy, kitten out a massive gold and mat sink that technically delivers what they promised in a way literally no one wanted.
And that’s without getting into the really dumb stuff, like requiring ascended mats to make an exotic weapon, or the fact that Anet used the price on the TP as a basis for how many mats each recipe required.
The price on the Trading Post is reflective of the effort ArenaNet decided that a Legendary should require, which is why they did not make it cheaper to get one before and why they did not make it cheaper to get one after they introduced Precursor Crafting.
You can craft a Precursor for almost no gold at all, so it is in effect vastly less expensive than buying one if you are willing to put in the time. What you wanted was a fast and cheap alternative to the fast and expensive option that has always existed, which was a completely unrealistic expectation and the sole source of your current dislike of the Precursor Crafting solution.
I have no idea how to find ascended drop posts in forum but… so many people been getting ascended drops.. and over 2.5years in gw2 i’ve never gotten one.. it’s odd.
Are you doing high level Fractals?
That’s really the only way significant way to get them as drops.
MF daily gives just one Mystic Coin… it changes nothing by the looks on the prices.
Is it always just 1? I might be getting it confused with the daily log in bag.
I’d rather they just throw some Mystic Coins into the map rewards system.
PvE should be the main focus for balance since that’s the main draw for people to play this game and where the vast majority of play time is spent.
I know they’d prefer PvP to be the big draw (what with all this focus on so called e-sports), but that ship sailed a long time ago. You aren’t going to have some PvP renaissance at this point in the game’s life cycle.
You probably don’t want to hear that I play with the music off and the rest of the sounds turned way down.
I’ve never been one for game music. It gets old pretty quick and I’d rather listen to my own choice of music.
The curse of the games music composer…
I do this too, but I do mix the game’s original score into my playlist so that it isn’t completely wiped out.
Unless I’m doing my 80s rock playlist.
Broken forums are broken.
Honestly, this is more of a showcase of how bad the stat system is versus how bad the raid concept is.
Personally, I think that all stat combos should be 1-2 offensive and 1-2 defensive stats (no 3 offense or 3 defense stat sets). This would make it easier for them to balance content without eliminating our ability to min-max while also shrinking the gap between the best and worst optimized options so that even poorly geared players would be contributing at a reasonable level.
Fastest is always buying it.
It’s probably also cheaper to buy it as well.
Crafting is for people who want to slowly progress their legendary without having to rely on saving cash or random luck.
That wouldn’t be ArenaNet being hacked, it would potentially be your personal computer/email/account.
This is especially true if you use the same email/password for GW2 as you did for some other site (if that other site gets hacked, your email/password combo is passed around to every person who wants to buy it and they all try it everywhere.
You need to update your computer’s security, run some scans for malware, and change all of your passwords to be new and DIFFERENT from each other.
Here’s an existing thread on this topic that is only on page 2: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Useless-junk/first#content
I put a few suggestions I had in that thread.
Honestly its really painful difficulty wise, at least solo, its like torture.
It’s not that bad. Some parts might take a few tries and some of the challenges are quite difficult but it’s not that bad.
I had sore hands, arms and headaches after many parts, i was angry, upset and just wanted to log out..
A game should not illicit those emotions from their customers..
All the best games do. Games that provide no challenges bore the users quickly and soon die off.
I liked how in GW1 nearly all the mobs had a profession (same as the players) and could use nearly all the same skills we could.
Of course, being balanced for instanced content is completely different from open world content, but still, I kind of wish that concept was carried over to this game.
I have two suggestions for improving the Rune/Sigil problem:
1. Make them salvageable for crafting materials. This adds a new source of the fine/rare crafting materials which will add value to even the least useful rune/sigil. Get a worthless Sigil of Icebrood Slaying? No problem, salvage it for either some Orichalcum Ore, a Glob of Ectoplasm, or a Corrupted Lodestone (with appropriate weighting). This would obviously require the non-craftable runes/sigils to have a salvage table added).
2. Make Mystic Forging 4 of the same rune/sigil return an upgraded version of the rune/sigil (i.e. 4 Major Runes of Strength will return 1 Superior Rune of Strength). This makes it easier to acquire some of the very expensive Superior runes/sigils since you can use 4 of the Major ones to get a Superior version.
There are a selection of small soft wood saplings that give you Hard Wood Logs, as well as a selection of small hard wood saplings that give you Soft Wood Logs.
Wall of Reflection acts as a “brain check”.
If you see the giant glowy wall, stop shooting at it.
Fully opposed. Toys should offer no advantages/buffs whatsoever.
That’s the slippery slope into mounts hell, and we need to avoid that place because of the fire/brimstone/wailing.
The droppables that come in different rarities should have Mystic Forge recipes for promoting the lower tier version into the Exotic version.
4 blue ones = 1 green
4 green ones = 1 rare
rare + something + something + something = exotic for collection.
I did Rhendak every day for a few months. Never got his droppable item. That’s the same kind of nonsense that I left other games over (killing the same mob over and over hoping that this time is the time he drops the special item that you need that only comes from him).
Less WoW crap in the future please.
An infinite use Transmutation item would probably have to be priced at around 50,000 gems to make up for all the lost revenue.
A more likely scenario is an infinite skin unlock for 100-200 gems that allows a single skin to be made free to apply forever (so 600-1200 gems for a whole set).
I just want them to build a wardrobe-esque system for tonics so that I can get them out of my inventory without losing them.
For guaranteed rare items, do the World Boss circuit. The first time you kill each one each day you are guaranteed a rare weapon.
so how do i get it from the forge ?
Throw 4 rare weapons into the Mystic Forge.
The average of the 4 should be at least 75 to get a level 80 item, which I believe is the only way to get the shield (but don’t quote me on that yet lol).
Use 4 shields if you want to guarantee the result of the forging is a shield.
Note that the result will be a RANDOM level 80 rare shield so you may have to do this many times before you get the shield you want out of it.
I own 5+1 cause I can afford them. They are overpriced and it’s something that should rub everyone the wrong way as an obvious money grab.
The fact that you (and I, and many others) have purchased them means that they are not overpriced.
Let’s see, I have:
1. Copper Fed Salvage O Matic
2. Mystic Salvage Kit
3. Celebration/Birthday Boosters
4. Magic Find Foods
5. Magic Find Halloween Potions
6. SW Shovels
7. SW Keys
8. Pact Crowbars
9. Magic Carpet Ride
10. Terrace Pass
11. Empty
I honestly could use another 5 though so I could add more boosters/black lion consumables.
The likelihood that your guild mate is lying is greater than the likelihood of them getting that many precursors by an order of magnitude that is impolite to type.
LoL you just called me a Liar very politely. good for you. I expected to be trolled by asking ANET to look at this.
To clarify, I am not calling you a liar (politely or otherwise). I believe that you are here because someone lied to you (nearly all precursors share a skin with a much, much cheaper weapon which someone could use to trick their friends into thinking they are getting amazing drops).
