Anybody DONT want Pax to be an Xpac?

That is your opinion, about expansions not longer being needed.
For me they are needed. Getting few stuff here and there, in such slow time is bad deal for me.
Alright, LS was interesting for me, but after 2 1/2 years it aint enough.

I am in need of new big content so I can play when and for how many hours I can.
Playing 2 hours every month or so of added content is just laughable.

Then good news! There are plenty of games that still cater to your old-world expectations. New games are moving away from that model though, so if you want to continue to be entertained you’re going to have to reevaluate why you demand everything all at once.

Increasing the level cap is a deal-breaker for me.
I’m fine with new weapons/classes as long as they are paired with a complete rebalance of all existing weapons and classes.
New races don’t interest me.
New maps are only good if they are designed well (like Silverwastes or Dry Top, we already have plenty of “hurry and level through this area, then never come back” maps).

In this day and age, expansions are no longer needed but instead represent a relic from a bygone period in gaming history. We can continuously add content in a natural expansion of the game without the need for a sudden upending of everything (with a large sticker price).

Yeah & unfortunately the trailer is 90% Sylvari fan-fic & 2% cool stuff (Mursaat & Rytlock)

In order for it to be “FAN” Fic, it needs to have been made BY the fans.

Also, you only seemed to count 92%, where’s the remaining 8?

The remaining 8% is also Mursaat, but was unseen in the trailer.

I think that light armor wearers should all have a signet for 25% speed (speed and utility, so least expensive), medium armor wearers should all have a trait option to get 25% speed (speed at the cost of spec so a medium expense), and heaver armor wearers should have to rune for it (mobility and heavy armor should cost you an arm and a leg).

Molten or Watchwork Mining Pick?

There is no reason to buy any pick other than the Watchwork. It is the only one that offers an extra chance at a rare item (the sprockets) which makes it the superior selection in every single scenario.

Cosmetic choices pale in comparison to the raw financial impact of those bonus sprockets.

"Turbo Clickers" & "Autoclicker", etc

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

It really depends on whether ArenaNet considers a double click to be two clicks or one double click.

Personally, I’m of the opinion that a double click is a SEPERATE action from two clicks as it performs different functions (in both this game and in nearly every operating environment since 1985).

Granted, I don’t use any type of macros, but if I did, that’s the argument I’d make with respect to binding a double click. Also granted, ArenaNet doesn’t care about your argument.

I know the odds are slim since I’ve only done over a thousand flushes so far. I am losing no more than potential gold for the sale of the rares I obtain. I didn’t craft them or buy them, they’re all from chests, bags or a rare drop over the course of, well since I started head start. I really couldn’t put a gold amount on those rares since the prices have changed quite a bit since I started the process.
It’s just nice to think that statistically I am due. Whether or not it actually happens is another story.

That’s what I do with my rares as well. Well, except for the greatswords, daggers, staves, and swords. Those I sell on the TP.

I’ve unlocked quite a few Exotic skins that way.

If the average is 1k gold to get a precursor from the forge then I am about due one. (If not a little past due) That is good news so I’ll just keep flushing the rares as I get them. There is a light at the end of the tunnel.

That 1000g average is achieved across tens of thousands of attempts (i.e. tens of thousands of gold worth of flushes).

Since your sample size is small, the nature of random distribution means that you could be on one of those unlucky streaks where it takes 2000g.

1000g should be considered a ballpark figure. It may cost you (substantially) more or less than that amount, but you should expect it to take at least that much.

Get your ascended weapons first (they provide a bigger bang for your buck than the armor sets in terms of cost to benefit ratio).

Also, note that ascended equipment is not necessary unless you are doing high end Fractals.

This means that it is going to cost you a lot of money for what amounts to some new skins and a minor stat bump. If you don’t care about the skins or min-maxing for fractals, then “worth it” it isn’t. I’m working on ascended gear now simply because I don’t have much else to work on (my characters are all geared).

Right, but you’re in a very slim minority, whereas ArenaNet’s focus groups indicated that hiding vistas would help retain lots of new players.

They are going to do things that benefit lots of players before they do things that only benefit a handful, regardless of how important something may be to that handful.

Where did you find any statistics to support any of it?

I got a new friend buy the game and the only thing hiding vistas did was confuse him. He’s not leveling fast enough without them to be able to quest consistently, nor fast enough to be able to gain levels trough his personal story. So me and my boyfriend had to physically show them each one, as new players can still take them, just not see them on the map. The other solution would have been to continuously grind events.

I don’t think that the updates that they did were statistics based at all. For one thing I’m sure that nobody wanted the personal story butchered and mixed up. Nobody wanted to have to unlock things like the downed state. But they thought that if they made the leveling experience more grindy it would appeal to China. However Chinese people that were interested in Guild Wars 2 to begin with didn’t exactly want yet another Korean grinder.

Leveling experience is not awful, but it’s grindyer and more confusing than what it was 2 years ago.

There was a red post that indicated that they had done focus groups and that the changes were a result of those. So I don’t have any numbers, I’m just repeating that they said that they had numbers.

Not really “Pay to Win” (in that owning a legendary does not give you any form of combat advantage over someone who has an ascended weapon of the same type), but pretty detestable all the same.

Dueling is a feature that adds nothing of value other than as a time waster (like costume brawl, instruments, etc.), and even that is only of value to a slim minority of players.

With that in mind, I would prefer that they spend their time on literally anything else.

Maybe someday, when they’ve literally added everything else to the game, they can add duels just because there is nothing left for them to work on, but that is a highly fictional scenario that will never come to be.

for some of us it’s important. And it would have been a better addition to the game than someone wasting their time making sure that new players couldn’t see points of interest and vistas until they’re level 18.

Right, but you’re in a very slim minority, whereas ArenaNet’s focus groups indicated that hiding vistas would help retain lots of new players.

The first thought that came to my mind was how fun it was to unlock all those weapon and armor skins when the wardrobe first came out…unfortunately, that’s pretty much gone now because the drop table doesn’t include many skins it could (I’m excluding the obvious like gemstore, dungeon, PvP, and karma/badge skins).

Think about it if ALL the gemstore items where actuall ingame earnable skins with specific content to be matched for it. If all that DEVELOPMENT time was put into the game instead of the paywall.

I can imagine that. And i realise with that prospect, sadly, the game is pay2skin.

I have a hard time taking seriously any post that says that “pay to skin” makes them sad.

It is literally the best pay model ever designed for a video game, especially since you can gold2gem and buy EVERYTHING with RECREATIONAL TIME.

I’m sorry, but I have to be harsh here… your point is silly.

Recreational time? My recreational time doesnt involve pressing 1 wait…wait..wait.. F, Tab,1, wait..wait..wait..

Thats not fun, thats a boring job designed for gold farming chinese people looking to make a RL profit. Making the annoying ‘buy x gems for cheaper price’

Then you are irrationally playing a video game that you hate, and that probably requires professional help from a licensed member of the medical community which you won’t get by posting about your issue on a web forum.

Or i am a dedicated fan who sees one of his favourite games become a cashgrab. After having a blast at release.

Of course new content is going to be based on the pay model, that’s how they can offer the game to you without a subscription fee.

The loot system in GW2 is superior to other MMO loot systems specifically BECAUSE it is tied to the Gold Standard.

This means that you CAN play the type of content you want and convert your time into nearly any item in the game, as opposed to games where you must grind away at specific tasks until RNG decides to reward you with a specific item that you want.

I understand that this concept is foreign to people who emigrate here from the inferior products that we’ve all played in the decades before, but the system really is pretty wonderful.

Once again, you can still do the activities and get the rewards the exact same way as the old dailies.

That is an absolute LIE. I cannot get the awards “EXACT SAME WAY”.
I have to go to a specific area to do a specific chore, before you could complete activities while you were playing in the area that you wanted.

The daily achievement chests are IN ADDITION TO the daily reward which is NOW given to you for logging in.

If you never do another daily again, you will still continue to get the old daily rewards because they are funneled into your account on login.

Thanks for confirming it’s not exactly the same way.

You get the rewards for logging in. Then you can kill 30 ambients and make yourself feel good about doing things the old way for no reason despite the fact that the new way is vastly superior in every conceivable way.

PvE-only players: i hate this system
all around players: there is nothing to hate

you see the problem here?

I do both PvE and sPvP and I hate this change because it completely changes the philosophy behind dailies. So try again?

old system: PvE-only players had plenty of common things to do
new system: PvE-only players only have forced stuff to do or ignore it completely.

i don’t think their philosophy is to make dailies something to ignore, it’s something you get while playing the game you’re already playing it.
i would not mind the small things like daily revive or daily condition applier/remover but to completely spreading dailies out like this and even force us to do a really small specific choice of dailies is just a idiotic idea, as if they had a brain dead day while deciding this but kept on developing this anyway.

Old System: PvE-Only players had to complete 5 common things to get rewards
New System: PvE-Only players have to complete nothing to get same rewards as the Old System

so i can log and kill enemies, craft some, revive some and still get the same?
nope, i have to go to all 4 corners of the game just for the dailies, i don’t mind to skip some but i like to be able to complete at least the minimum without jumping hoops.

The daily reward is now granted upon login, so you, you can get the same. The kick is that now you don’t even have to kill the enemies, craft something, or revive people to get it. You have the option of going to all 4 corners of the game for the dailies for ADDITIONAL rewards now.

No one enjoyed dailies. No one.

I did. You lose.

They either enjoyed the activity involved (killing enemies, harvesting plants, etc.) which they are still free to do, or they enjoyed the reward, which is now given to them simply for logging in.

Don’t care about the reward, don’t particularly cared about the activities involved with them. I killed enough monsters in this game. I enjoyed figuring out how to do them efficiently. Well, lately the answer to that was “spend 30 minutes in Silverwastes” so the fun had begun to fade before this update.

Nothing is stopping you from doing the old daily activities and absolutely nothing at all is stopping you from getting the old daily rewards.

Lack of interest in the specific activities is stopping me.

This means that your sudden lack of enjoyment is completely irrational.

The only irrational thing on display here is your utter failure to realize that not all people are like you, and some enjoy different things than you. You’re either severely lacking in empathy, or maybe you should get out more.

Once again, you can still do the activities and get the rewards the exact same way as the old dailies, which means that even if you somehow did enjoy them only as a combination of factors rather than as the individual action or reward (which, again, is completely irrational) you can still combine those factors and achieve your same level of enjoyment which makes your entire complaint INVALID.

I’m understanding the issue quite well. People irrationally dislike change because stasis is familiar and things that are not familiar generate an irrational fear impulse (as a survival mechanic). In order to justify their irrational fear of change, people come up with ridiculous statements (such as “I enjoy only the specific combination of task and reward, and only when it is presented on the screen.”).

Don’t worry, after a few weeks the new system will become familiar and your irrational fear will subside (at least until the next patch causes change).

People are incredibly predictable, and you are no exception.

So what’s all the fuss about? Simple: something many people enjoyed was removed, and replaced with something they enjoy less. No amount of arguments or counter-arguments are going to have any bearing on that simple truth.

The game has become less enjoyable for some people, and they will post about it here. Their arguments are unassailable. They are right, because their experience is the only one that matters. Your reasons for liking this better are just as important to them as a raindrop falling in a faraway land. Maybe less so, if they enjoy rain.

I’m not being sarcastic here, this is just the essence of what happened. ANet hollowed out the game some more.

Speaking for myself, these new dailies and log on rewards have the effect of disincentivizing me from playing. I’m one of those players who just logged in for dailies, for lack of content I consider worth (re-)playing. Doing the dailies was a game in and of itself for me. I’d add the ones I’d consider doing to the watchlist, and then looked at the watchlist to find the best place I could go to, and the best thing I could be doing to finish at least 5 of them. Very often, while I was doing my dailies this way, things would happen to make me play other things. Guildies wanting to do something, running into players, being reminded of something and thinking “let’s have a go at that for old times sake.”

What no incarnation of the dailies ever did is offer me any incentive to go do something I have no interest in doing in the first place. PvP, WvW, not a snowball’s chance in hell. Tried both and decided they weren’t for me. A measly extra reward isn’t going to change my mind.

And now, these dailies… They don’t engage me at all. They’re simply terrible. Am I expected to feel the urge to play some more after spending 5 minutes on the painfully inane tasks of gathering a nodes and clicking on vistas I’ve already visited with most of my characters? The ridiculous pointlessness of the tasks combined with the lack of my own personal mini-game of figuring out how to do 5 dailies at the same time doesn’t accomplish anything other than to make me wonder what I still like about the game.

No one enjoyed dailies. No one.

After one day with this new system I have to say I still hate it.
The single chests for each achievements are nice.

But instead of getting the daily with generic achievements while actually playing the game the way I like to, I am forced to travel around hunting stupid specific achievements in order to get AP.

Porting around the map only to execute a specific action in a specific region is just absurd.

Srsly, add the old generic options or revert the change!

No more “Lose a match 500:49 on Skyhammer, while dancing on a floor panel and beeing shot in the back by a female Charr Thief wearing a purple Mad King’s Outfit”.

You are not forced to do anything.

You are choosing to do these activities in order to get AP, which is not required for anything.

"Play How I Want" Is Gone

re: Now that I’ve cleared up the misconception, you may want to reevaluate your entire post. – Well, you cherry-picked one thing, put your own spin on it, then sold it as a fact that invalidates the OP’s entire post? And you accused the OP of misconception? You may wish to reevaluate your post.

I think the OP made a clear, concise, well organized, and pleasantly non-ragey post. And I agree with all of it except the part about fractals, because I don’t have enough experience with fractals to judge what the OP says about them.

The entire premise of this thread is based on a flagrant misinterpretation of the quote.

The New Dailies -- Feedback welcome

the design philosophy behind the previous dailies was that you get them as you play, playing whatever you want… as long as youre playing for like an hour, youll get enough of them to get your laurel.

the design philosophy behind this iteration of dailies seems to be to get us to do things we might happen to do, but normally probably wouldnt. so completing the new dailies means i have to go out of my way in order to get them at all, much less in a timely manner that doesnt feel onerous. there is no concurrency, because each piece requires gameplay that does not coincide with any of the others, so we cant even work on several at once by doing a single run of something.

overall, i dislike this iteration because of the isolation of each daily. i think its a good paradigm to offer only a set amount of cheevo points upon completion as opposed to 1 for each piece. i think its really really good to offer tomes of knowledge for some of them. i think its really good to add in more variety to the pool of dailies that exist, but that there are too few options available each day. i liked being able to just play how i want and get my dailies. now i cant do that as much. i have to try for them.

You now get the daily rewards for simply logging in, so the “going out of my way to do stuff” annoyance is being offset by rewarding you with additional items that you were not getting under the old system.

I dont do WvW and PvP, so lets see, todays PvE dailies.

One of the 4 is something Fractal and another is Silverwastes Event(s).
I care not about doing either, and dont like being forced to do either if i wanna get the daily AP.

More choices is what I, and others in this topic, r asking for.

Then guess what? You don’t DESERVE the AP because you don’t WANT to put in the effort.

I dont want to do things in GW2 that i dont like/enjoy doing.
Putting in effort is not the point.

You don’t have to do things you don’t like or don’t enjoy doing.
If, however, you do decide to do things that you don’t like then you’re going to get some bonus items and AP. Or you could wait until tomorrow for a different selection of activities.

If the little bonus chest items don’t outweigh your dislike of the things needed to get them, then don’t do them. You aren’t missing out on anything of value by skipping the daily, and by skipping things you so abhor that the trinkets won’t sate your hatred, you’re going to only be doing things that you do enjoy and thus have no reason to be angry.

Idea: Tonic Tab for the Hero Panel

I’ve reached the point where I toss most tonics because while they are fun to play around with, they take up a lot of room and I don’t use them very often.

Having a tonic bank would be a great idea.

I think you (and some white knights blindly defending this) miss the issue. People could come in in before and get their dailies done with very little effort by doing what they wanted to do. Now they are being forced into other maps and get forced to do things they otherwise wouldn’t. It was enjoyable before/ now it isn’t.

And you’re completely missing the part where you get the rewards even more how you want to play now, because you get them upon logging in?
Before, had to do stuff for dailies. Now you don’t, you still get the rewards. It was forcing you to do something before, now it isn’t. Improvement, right?

I argue it is not. I never asked for log in rewards. Rewards should come from killing mobs, beating bosses and opening chests. In other words play how you want and get properly rewarded.

You already get rewards for killing mobs, beating bosses, and opening chests. Now you can also get some extra rewards for doing a few specific things.
