we got through two continents before we saw the tarnished coast and far shiverpeaks in GW1. i’m willing to miss some tyrian regions for some more years in favor of cantha :P
I don’t need EotN parts, just all the Prophecies areas.
Don’t YOU want to know if the statue of the female warrior in the Crystal Desert is standing or not? Huh? Is it not killing you inside?
. . . there’s an Ascalonian throne?
Also, where in the Shiverpeaks did you dig up that signet ring? I mean, it’d have to be there since it’s well documented that’s where Prince Rurik was killed by the leader of the Stone Summit trying to escort his people through the Frost Gate.
Those tales of his body resurfacing during a raid on the mursaat in the Ring of Fire aren’t very plausible, all things considered.
Lastly, are you sure those are Althea’s Ashes and not something else . . . I hear some black marketeers were selling “genuine reliquaries” of those ashes back in those times to displaced Ascalonian people.
Well there’s not exactly a throne anymore…
My mesmer got Rurik’s ring while exploring Stonepate’s tomb with Magister Seiran of the Priory. That evil dwarf must have stolen it as a prize. She recovered Aldelbern’s ring while helping Eir in the Ascalonian Catacombs.
She dual wields Fiery Dragon Swords as a reminder to one day re-claim Magdaer and Sohothin from Rytlock and Logan some day. For now, she tolerates them enough to work with them against the bigger threat.
With the peace treaty between humans and charr, my mesmer has taken to exploring old Ascalon in her free time when not battling dragons and evil Sylvari. As part of her travels, she has spent lots of time and gold to track down Althea’s resting place and recover her ashes, as well as making the pilgrimage to King’s Watch from her house in Ebonhawke.
I found that too, but it’s currently empty. I am curious what the vine-chamber will be.
So who is Saren then?
My human noble mesmer is actually the secret descendent of Prince Rurik of Ascalon and Lady Althea.
Whenever a person asks about the legitimacy of her claims to the Ascalonian throne, she shows them the rings on her fingers, Rurik and Adelbern’s Signet Rings, as well as the Preserved Red Iris Flower and Althea’s Ashes that she carries around with her. Then she turns them into a moa for fun.
How about we get Crystal Desert, Ring of Fire, and the rest of both the Maguuma and Shiverpeaks before we go to a different continent entirely?
Im hoping for an Eternal Alchemoose mini coming soon to the Gem store.
Insta win – it would fund Cantha and Elona outright
How about we get Maguuma, Crystal Desert, Ring of Fire, and Shiverpeaks first before we move to another continent?
I can’t seem to find a portal to get into those areas.
Because there aren’t any.
Maybe we get to vote who dies aka who we protect.
RIP Trahearne. You never stood a chance.
Kasmeer can’t be the heir, or rather, I hope she isn’t.
Either she will leave the Krytan throne without an heir once again when she dies, or she will be pressured into marrying another noble and making an heir (sorry Jory).
I think it would be very mature of Anet to introduce a storyline where the mother has to learn to accept that her daughter is gay.
I mean, so many videogames proclaim to include gay characters just for the sake of including them, but none have really tried to tackle the real world issues of conservative parents vs their gay children, and the sometimes very real anguish that develops. Not even Bioware has the balls to do this.
Will anet tackle this issue via a good “Acceptance” storyline?
Probably not, but it would be very gutsy of them to try.
I think that would cross the line. It’s fine if they hint at it or mention it in passing, but having that be a storyline is just shoving gay acceptance down your throat and reeks of pandering when it has no relation to the story.
There’s no reason to believe the titans have anything to do with Jormag. We know where they come from and it’s not Jormag. In fact, Jormag most likely has never left Tyria, so how would he know what they look like, and vice versa for Abbadon, who, even according to your theories, left before the dragons came around. As I submitted earlier, they look similar because elementals often share similar structure, just like the Risen Ashen Hulks looked like Oakhearts and Hands/Fists of the Titans resemble Ice Elementals.
As for all the other stuff you said:
I did dispute it, much of it which is just wrong by the virtue of being wrong, and I often did it with facts.
Instead of telling me to not tell you you’re wrong, why don’t you find some facts to back up your hypothesis beyond making conjectures like “It is without a doubt the volcano was caused by [Primordius]” when there is no definitive evidence.
(edited by narwhalsbend.7059)
You didn’t mention anything really about the bloodstones in specific and made assumptions about Abbadon.
Jormag’s minions look nothing like the titans. rather they are corrupted mortal creatures or created elementals that only share passing resemblance because of the model similarities.
You also theorize without any support that champions just come out of nowhere. If they can summon them why don’t they just use hundreds of champions to overwhelm us instead of throwing kill-able minions at us?
Still nothing to support your “scarlet is alive” hypothesis that contradicts the devs.
No one knows where Primordius is, so the best guess is that he’s still in the Central Transfer Chamber.
We never saw where Jormag was. The dragon in the lake was a Champion of Jormag.
Zhaitan does not control death as much as any random necromancer controls death.
I can take a closer look at the Mordrem wolf when I find that render, but they look planty to me. They are just as alive as branded or icebrood.
And your last paragraph has nothing to do with anything except your own unfounded theories.
I had another idea about the orbs, and the order of their awakening: what if they’re the gods? In order of awakening, the orbs are:
- Blue – water – Abaddon
- Red – fire – Balthazar
- White –
iceair – Dwayna- Green – nature – Melandru
- Purple – chaos – Lyssa
- Black – death – Grenth
This almost matches up with a couple of possible ways of ordering the gods. According to the Orrian History Scrolls, the order in which they arrived on Tyria is Dwayna -> Balthazar -> Melandru -> Lyssa -> Abaddon -> Grenth, and in terms of age, the best guess is Melandru -> Abaddon -> Dwayna -> Balthazar -> Lyssa -> Grenth.
And of course, no discussion of the Eternal Alchemy is complete without mention of this quest line. This definitely fits into this quite well, but I can’t quite see how yet. With all the images of stars etc. we see in Omadd’s machine, it’s worth remembering the Mystic Telescope and Bahltek.
Did anyone see Canach?
Canach is going to be part of the Shining Blade
This is really, really interesting.
Where is this in-game?! Looks like we could be getting a White Mantle side-story after all!
And what does Secrets/Truth have to do with water? Did Kormir just feel like taking over some of Grenth’s powers one day?
There aren’t “six types of magic”, there are four schools.
You completely skipped the bloodstones.
There have already been many threads trying to tie the dragons to the gods, and it never works.
Jormag’s minions are certainly NOT titans.
If the dragons’ champions must wake their masters, which did Kralk fly to Glint and not the other way around?
They have said that Scarlet is dead. No one wants to see her return anyway.
There’s no reason to believe Scarlet had multiple personality disorder.
Primordius is nowhere near that volcano and Jormag (the ice dragon) doesn’t melt things.
Bubbles just did normal dragon stuff that caused them to flee, just like the Asura fled from destroyers and the Norn fled from Jormag’s minions.
Zhaitan doesn’t control death. Grenth does.
Mordremoth’s minions don’t look undead at all. In fact, they’re quite planty and alive.
I’m sorry to say this, but I can’t see any bit of this being accurate.
If the new writers that they have for GW2 write any of this (which completely over-writesGW1 lore) I will never play the game again.
There was a champion of Jormag frozen under a lake in EotN. It looked much thinner than Claw of Jormag so I would presume that there is a champion out there somewhere.
except his stupid roar
The fear and torment roar is easy to avoid. With my greatsword I can stand just outside the range and afk if I wanted to, assuming he doesn’t move at all.
And then, there was this scene I stumbled on in Prosperity:
If only he had picked up that Elixir of Heroes right behind him.
What’s eerie is that I made exactly this prediction to my guild last night.
I don’t like being right about this.
What’s your next prediction almighty seer? (And can you infuse my armor while you’re at it?)
I for one quite like it. I would help Marjory propose like I did for Keiran.
Who knows, she might even suddenly turn into a Dervish once she gets married.
So anyone think Marjory is gonna take up Belinda’s sword and use it for vengeance? Great swords confirmed for Necro’s?
Speaking of necromancers, why can’t she just resurrect her? Or is there more to it than a spell?
Necromancer reanimate the dead, not bring the dead back to life. The only being with that power is Grenth.
Wait until Maj and Kas bug out and you can’t finish it, that’s the BEST part -_-
I died at the boss fight and they abandoned me. I had to kill it all alone.
After doing this 7 times I finally managed to get to eastern gate only to run into at least 12-15 enemies and died in seconds. NPC’s said something about siege engines but I never saw them. All this trouble and haven’t even saw the boss yet.
You’re supposed to go along the north wall, not straight through the middle.
Marj and Kas say that to you and there’s an arrow on the map.
Just starting the walk from Dry Top in to Maguuma. If what I see now is any indication Maguuma is going to be beautiful! Well done ANET! Maguuma was one of my favorite places, in fact the favorite place I had in prophecies besides the Crystal Desert with those cool giants. Also love that you brought back the mending springs! I am actually at the first skill point now!
Did you notice the Vine Seed Plants by the Vine Bridge?
well, we know that the true heir of Ascalons Throne is unknown after Rurik and Adelbernd died and that Queen jenna is only the one next in line, however she is not the “true” heir by blood, as far as i know
Why would a Krytan locket show Ascalonian heirs?
What’s interesting is that it’s implied the vines are the work of Mordremoth, but no signs of dragon corruption.
There’s actually more precedent for magical vines than any dragon-corrupted vines. In GW1 you could construct vine bridges for yourself in the Maguuma Jungle by placing a vine seed. If you noticed in the oasis, there were Cultivated Vine Seed Plants near the bridge. I thought that was a nice touch.
I really hope not. I think they just want to give us a little immersion.
I’m happy I got my travelers runes now before the price spikes. If they remove waypoints (even just some of them) and don’t replace them immediately with movement speed buffs above Swiftness then there will be riots. Especially from Mesmers, and they know Mesmers are the most powerful.
Are you trying to make some joke about mesmers? I play a mesmer and I have traveler runes, which makes me run faster than most people, and any mesmer has access to a swiftness skill on the offhand focus.
Oh really? If you play a mesmer then you should know that the skill on focus which gives swiftness is broken (but it’s said it works as intended, though) and the swiftness given from it lasts very shortly and doesn’t stack. I wouldn’t say it’s a very reliable source of swiftness for a long trip…
Another note here: I don’t think they are going to take off all the waypoints or the most of them, it would ruin several other aspects in the game like world completion.
I said I play mesmer, not that I use the focus.
It was such an amazing journey but all good things come to an end.
How should i find back this experience? or it has to be found somewhere else?
If you enjoyed this game, why don’t you try a game with an actual story like GW1.
I really hope not. I think they just want to give us a little immersion.

Don’t worry, all this means is WE’RE GETTING MOUNTS! I’m hoping for a hoverboard.

I’ll also add that the maps just aren’t set up in a way that can accomodate “mounts”.
Also, this is ArenaNet, who enacted a limit of 20 minipets per instance in GW1. And you really think they’re going to use even more server resources to give every player a “mount”?
(edited by narwhalsbend.7059)
No, I’m not saying the ascended professions skills would be stronger than the previous profession. It just evolves the current profession. Of coarse there would be balancing some professions skills.
for example someone might really want to be a “machinest” so they level an engineer to 80 then take the challenge to ascend the profession to become a machinest. (of coarse they dont have to if they dont want to because all professions will be balanced and no ascended profession can be better than previous professions.) Someone else on the other hand might just like the way engineer plays and just stay engineer.
Also it doesnt have to be that you level again from 1. It could be something like 40 or 60, just something so that the player can play around with the new skills and traits to get use to it.
They could just add more elites. They also did this type of thing recently by adding more grandmaster traits.
EDIT: Also my earlier post was a joke. Note the hamstorm reference.
Can we tone it down please.. at least in the story mode? There is absolutely no way to actually fail this event (if you die, you just have to Retry from checkpoint, Aerin won’t gain his health back) So why did you make this a drawn out, 15 min long fight?
Would you rather it be short AND easy?
I have this amazing and unique idea to spice up the game a little.
Instead of “Ascended Professions”, we just make it so characters can have two professions!
You see, the way it is now, professions have different abilities.
With dual professions, a warrior could cripple is foe, then switch to elementalist and rain fire down upon his enemies as they slowly limp away!
If Trahearne returns, I vote he ends up like Rurik:
Killed
Possessed / Puppetized / Evil
Then we get to kill him the final time:)
I know… I’m just mean.
Whoa watch your spoilers there.
chuckle
Considering the number of times the convo about Rurik and what became of him has come up on these forums… not worried about it. lol
Vizier Khilbron was the Undead Lich all along!
Most of mine are with lore except two. I purposefully made them against type. I have a Sylvari Necro and a Charr Guardian.
I loved the thought of them being “not the norm” in their own cultures.
Well Trahearne is a Firstborn and he is a Necromancer. Though I agree with you that is doesnt feel right is that is your opinion.
Personally I have a Norn Mesmer which is a little out of lore.
Well considering the only professions used by norn in EotN were Warrior, Ranger, and one Paragon, I would say so.
I went with the lore, i tried to make something against it but it didn’t really worked for me and felt awkward even though i still want to try charr ele for some reason.
How about you?
Charr elementalists were very common for flame legion charr for obvious reasons.
Here is a screenshot of an interesting vine right outside of the dry top entrance. I have no idea if it has always looked like that. But my question is if the vines travel underground they pass the destroyers in Kessex Hills and also I thought the tengu had a destroyer problem so do you think the destroyers would ignore the vines or are the vines avoiding them?
It could be the vines avoiding them. As I stated previously though, I do not think the other Elder Dragons will take Mordy’s awakening lightly. With the spreading of those vines, he’s taking more energy than they are. And recalling how Kralky’s mind was like a raging tornado attempting to devour everything in its greed (my take on the Edge of Destiny mentioning on Kralky’s mind), none of the other dragons are going to take this laying down. Expect the other dragons to start making their move very soon.
Three way elder dragon showdown, like a wvw matchup. Taking bets on who wins.
Well Primordius and his fire-minions would probably beat Mordremoth and his plants fairly easily. The real battle is between the stone and lava minions or Primordius and the crystal minions of Kraky.
If Trahearne returns, I vote he ends up like Rurik:
Killed
Possessed / Puppetized / Evil
Then we get to kill him the final time:)
I know… I’m just mean.
Whoa watch your spoilers there.
It’s more likely to me that he has stepped aside and acts more as an advisor. His Wyld Hunt was to cleanse Orr, not lead the top races of Tyria to victory of the elder dragons.
PreSearing – it’s a game figure it out.
As long as you party with me to get Res Signet.
I can see them having the grove fight being the final chapter of season 2, like battle of la was for s1 scarlet awakened the dragon for the purpose of that vision. the vision was her motive which in a way can easily relate to the nightmare court, bringing up the question if the nightnare court could of been mordys minions all along (nightnare being his corruption) could the dutchess possibly be a champion?
GW2 devs will not stop until every city is permanently destroyed.
Don’t know if this new map is posted here but it should be.

http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/2agwtg/we_discovered_where_the_vines_are_heading_heres/
Going to a jumping puzzle? I think it would be more likely that it’s going to the Searing Cauldron if it’s headed to that are at all. I mean, why else would you be in that area if you were looking for powerful magical artifacts?
Everywhere, but first off the areas we could explore in GW1 that we can’t in GW2.
I’m talking about the Maguuma Jungle/Wastes, The Crystal Desert, the rest of the Shiverpeaks, and most importantly, the Ring of Fire islands.
Probably one of those creatures that_shaman uncovered. Cool!
What creatures might you be talking about?
We need a new chart for this.
I just created a female Charr warrior after reading this thread and I am dissapointed to find that the shield hovers humorously far off her back.
Bubbles wasn’t in Guild Wars 1, but Primordus and Kralkatorrik were both seen in the last expansion, Eye of the North (albeit still hibernating).
And a champion of Jormag frozen in Drakkar Lake.
What I don’t understand is why we don’t some of the same undead in Orr if that is where they are from. Where are the necrid horsemen, etc.?
I doubt Zhaitan would want foreign undead in his territory.
EDIT: Your post below cleared up the confusion. If you look at the Orrian risen, they are almost all peasants, nobles, and farmers or the like. You don’t see any Orrian soldiers.
@narwhal Actually, freed from Khilbron’s control, I would personally expect some of them to want to go home. It’s a more or less moot point, though, since we have evidence it didn’t happen.
They did seem to be more intelligent than the Risen, perhaps because they were created by the Cataclysm and not just simply reanimated dead? I could see them wanting to go back to Orr if not being controlled by Khilbron, but as I stated before they probably would have been killed by Zhaitan when he awoke.
(edited by narwhalsbend.7059)
We don’t really have any clear answer, but I don’t think they went back to Orr, since for the most part we don’t have Risen who match the GW1 varieties of undead.
They wouldn’t go back to Orr because they’re not minions of Zhaitan.
To quote the Guild Wars Manuscripts as seen on the original wiki page for Orr, “There are few who survived that day, now known as the Cataclysm. While the Charr were never allowed to step foot in Arah, few count what the king’s advisor did on that day as a victory. The resulting explosion felled the invading army where it stood, but so too did it sink the entire peninsula, leaving only a scattering of small islands in its place. The beautiful city of Arah was consumed. What’s left above water now lies in a pile of ruins, blackened by the Cataclysm and years of neglect. All that remains in the wreckage of Orr are the wandering dead—those souls unable to rest in the shadow of this great disaster.”
I suspect that the Orrian undead were in Kryta either because they washed up on on Krytan shores or because they were following Vizier Khilbron.
